Evanðelje po Ivanu 16

1 To sam vam rekao da ne biste otpali od vjere.2 Jer će vas izopćivati iz sinagoga i doći će vrijeme kad će svatko tko vas bude ubijao misliti da služi Bogu.3 A to će činiti zato što nikada nisu upoznali ni Oca ni mene.

4 To vam govorim sada da biste se, kad se to dogodi, sjetili kako sam vas upozorio. Nisam vam govorio prije jer sam znao da ću biti s vama još neko vrijeme."

Sveti Duh na djelu

5 "Ali sad odlazim onomu koji me je poslao, a nitko od vas nije me ni upitao kamo idem.6 Umjesto toga se žalostite.7 No za vas je uistinu bolje da ja odem jer ako ja ne odem, neće vam doći Utješitelj. Ako pak odem, doći će jer ću vam ga poslati.8 Kad dođe, on će dokazati svijetu zabludu s obzirom na grijeh, pravednost i sud.9 Ljudi svijeta su u grijehu jer ne vjeruju u mene.10 Moju će pravednost potvrditi Otac tako što će me uzdignuti na mjesto slave, gdje me više nećete vidjeti;

11 sud dolazi zato što je knez ovoga svijeta već osuđen.
12 Toliko toga bih vam još imao reći, ali sada to ne biste mogli podnijeti.13 Kad dođe Duh Istine, uputit će vas u cjelokupnu istinu. On neće iznositi vlastite misli, nego će vam prenijeti ono što je čuo. Objavit će vam i ono što će se dogoditi.14 On će me proslaviti otkrivajući vam ono što primi od mene.

15 Sve što ima Otac, moje je. Zato kažem da će vam otkriti ono što primi od mene."

Tuga će se pretvoriti u radost

16 "Još samo malo pa ću otići i više me nećete vidjeti. No malo zatim ponovno ćete me vidjeti."17 Učenici su pitali jedni druge: "Kako on to misli: 'Nećete me vidjeti, a onda ćete me opet vidjeti'? I što želi reći kad kaže: 'Odlazim Ocu'?

18 Što znači: 'Još samo malo'? Ne razumijemo to."
19 Isus je shvatio da ga žele to pitati, pa reče: "Pitate se među sobom na što sam mislio kad sam rekao: 'Još samo malo pa ću otići i više me nećete vidjeti. No malo zatim vidjet ćete me ponovno.'20 Zaista vam kažem, svijet će se veseliti zboga onoga što će mi se dogoditi, a vi ćete plakati i jadikovati. Ali vaša će se žalost preokrenuti u radost.21 Bit će to kao i sa ženom u trudovima - žalosna je dok rađa, ali kad se dijete rodi, radosna je što je donijela novu osobu na svijet pa zaboravlja bolove koje je pretrpjela.22 Tako je i s vama, sad se žalostite, ali ću vas opet vidjeti i razveselit ćete mi se; te vam radosti nitko neće moći uskratiti.23 U taj dan ništa me nećete tražiti. Zaista vam kažem, zamolite li što Oca u moje ime, dat će vam.

24 Dosad niste ništa molili u moje ime. Molite i primit ćete, da vaša radost bude potpuna.
25 O tomu sam vrlo oprezno govorio, u prispodobama, ali će doći vrijeme kad to više neće biti potrebno i kada ću vam otvoreno govoriti o Ocu.26 Tada ćete njemu iznijeti svoje molbe u moje ime. Ne kažem da ću ja moliti za vas27 jer vas sâm Otac žarko voli zato što ste vi mene voljeli i vjerovali da sam došao od Oca.

28 Da, izišao sam od Oca i došao na svijet, a otići ću s ovoga svijeta i vratiti se Ocu."
29 "Sada otvoreno govoriš," rekoše njegovi učenici, "a ne u zagonetkama.

30 Sada shvaćamo da sve znaš i da ti nitko ne mora ništa reći. Zato vjerujemo da si izišao od Boga."
31 "Vjerujete li zaista?" odgovori im Isus.32 "No dolazi vrijeme, i već je tu, kad ćete se razbježati svaki na svoju stranu, a mene ćete ostaviti samoga. Ipak neću biti sam jer Otac je sa mnom.

33 Sve sam vam to rekao da u meni imate mir. Ovdje na zemlji imat ćete nevolje, ali ohrabrite se, ja sam pobijedio svijet!"

John 16

1 “I have told you all these things so that you will not fall away.ts2 They will put you out oft the synagogue,s yet a timet is coming when the one who kills you will think he is offering service to God.s3 Theyt will do these things because they have not known the Father or me.s

4 But I have told you these thingst so that when their timet comes, you will remember that I told you about them.t
“I did not tell you these things from the beginning because I was with you.s5 But now I am going to the one who sent me,s and not one of you is asking me, ‘Where are you going?’s6 Instead your hearts are filled with sadnesst because I have said these things to you.7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocatet will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you.8 And when het comes, he will prove the world wrongt concerning sin andt righteousness andt judgment –9 concerning sin, becauset they do not believe in me;s10 concerning righteousness,t becauset I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer;

11 and concerning judgment,s becauset the ruler of this worlds has been condemned.t
12 “I have many more things to say to you,s but you cannot beart them now.13 But when he,t the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guidet you into all truth.s For he will not speak on his own authority,t but will speak whatever he hears, and will tell yout what is to come.t14 Het will glorify me,t because he will receivet from me what is minet and will tell it to you.t15 Everything that the Father has is mine; that is why I said the Spiritt will receive from me what is minet and will tell it to you.t

16 In a little while yout will see me no longer; again after a little while, yout will see me.”s
17 Then some of his disciples said to one another, “What is the meaning of what he is saying,t ‘In a little while yout will not see me; again after a little while, yout will see me,’ and, ‘because I am going to the Father’?”s

18 So they kept on repeating,t “What is the meaning of what he says,t ‘In a little while’?t We do not understandt what he is talking about.”t
19 Jesus could seets that they wanted to ask him about these things,t sot he said to them, “Are you askingt each other about this – that I said, ‘In a little while yout will not see me; again after a little while, yout will see me’?20 I tell you the solemn truth,t you will weept and wail,t but the world will rejoice; you will be sad,t but your sadness will turn intot joy.21 When a woman gives birth, she has distresss because her timet has come, but when her child is born, she no longer remembers the suffering because of her joy that a human beingt has been born into the world.s22 So also you have sorrowt now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.s23 At that timet you will ask me nothing. I tell you the solemn truth,t whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.s

24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive it,t so that your joy may be complete.
25 “I have told you these things in obscure figures of speech;t a timet is coming when I will no longer speak to you in obscure figures, but will tell yout plainlyt about the Father.26 At that timet you will ask in my name, and I do not sayt that I will ask the Father on your behalf.27 For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.s

28 I came from the Father and entered into the world, but in turn,t I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”s
29 His disciples said, “Look, now you are speaking plainlyt and not in obscure figures of speech!ts

30 Now we know that you know everythingt and do not need anyonet to ask you anything.t Because of thist we believe that you have come from God.”
31 Jesus replied,t “Do you now believe?32 Look, a timet is coming – and has come – when you will be scattered, each one to his own home,t and I will be left alone.s Yett I am not alone, because my Fathert is with me.

33 I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering,t but take couraget – I have conquered the world.”ts
