Johannes 16

1 Dieses habe ich zu euch geredet, auf daß ihr euch nicht ärgert.2 Sie werden euch aus der Synagoge ausschließen; es kommt aber die Stunde, daß jeder, der euch tötet, meinen wird, Gott einen Dienst darzubringen.3 Und dies werden sie tun, weil sie weder den Vater noch mich erkannt haben.4 Dieses aber habe ich zu euch geredet, auf daß, wenn die Stunde gekommen ist, ihr daran gedenket, daß ich es euch gesagt habe. Dieses aber habe ich euch von Anfang nicht gesagt, weil ich bei euch war.5 Jetzt aber gehe ich hin zu dem, der mich gesandt hat, und niemand von euch fragt mich: Wo gehst du hin?6 sondern weil ich dieses zu euch geredet habe, hat Traurigkeit euer Herz erfüllt.7 Doch ich sage euch die Wahrheit: Es ist euch nützlich, daß ich weggehe, denn wenn ich nicht weggehe, wird der Sachwalter nicht zu euch kommen; wenn ich aber hingehe, werde ich ihn zu euch senden.8 Und wenn er gekommen ist, wird er die Welt überführen von Sünde und von Gerechtigkeit und von Gericht.9 Von Sünde, weil sie nicht an mich glauben;10 von Gerechtigkeit aber, weil ich zu meinem Vater gehe, und ihr mich nicht mehr sehet;11 von Gericht aber, weil der Fürst dieser Welt gerichtet ist.12 Noch vieles habe ich euch zu sagen, aber ihr könnt es jetzt nicht tragen.13 Wenn aber jener, der Geist der Wahrheit, gekommen ist, wird er euch in die ganze Wahrheit leiten; denn er wird nicht aus sich selbst reden, sondern was irgend er hören wird, wird er reden, und das Kommende wird er euch verkündigen.14 Er wird mich verherrlichen, denn von dem Meinen wird er empfangen und euch verkündigen.15 Alles, was der Vater hat, ist mein; darum sagte ich, daß er von dem Meinen empfängt und euch verkündigen wird.16 Über ein Kleines, und ihr schauet mich nicht, und wiederum über ein Kleines, und ihr werdet mich sehen weil ich zum Vater hingehe .17 Es sprachen nun etliche von seinen Jüngern zueinander: Was ist dies, das er zu uns sagt: Über ein Kleines, und ihr schauet mich nicht, und wiederum über ein Kleines, und ihr werdet mich sehen, und: weil ich zum Vater hingehe? -18 Da sprachen sie: Was ist das für ein Kleines, wovon er redet? Wir wissen nicht, was er sagt.19 Da erkannte Jesus, daß sie ihn fragen wollten, und sprach zu ihnen: Forschet ihr darüber untereinander, daß ich sagte: Über ein Kleines, und ihr schauet mich nicht, und wiederum über ein Kleines, und ihr werdet mich sehen? -20 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, daß ihr weinen und wehklagen werdet, aber die Welt wird sich freuen; ihr werdet traurig sein, aber eure Traurigkeit wird zur Freude werden.21 Das Weib, wenn sie gebiert, hat Traurigkeit, weil ihre Stunde gekommen ist; wenn sie aber das Kind geboren hat, gedenkt sie nicht mehr der Drangsal, um der Freude willen, daß ein Mensch zur Welt geboren ist.22 Auch ihr nun habt jetzt zwar Traurigkeit; aber ich werde euch wiedersehen, und euer Herz wird sich freuen, und eure Freude nimmt niemand von euch.23 Und an jenem Tage werdet ihr mich nichts fragen. Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Was irgend ihr den Vater bitten werdet in meinem Namen, wird er euch geben.24 Bis jetzt habt ihr nichts gebeten in meinem Namen. Bittet, und ihr werdet empfangen, auf daß eure Freude völlig sei.25 Dies habe ich in Gleichnissen zu euch geredet; es kommt die Stunde, da ich nicht mehr in Gleichnissen zu euch reden, sondern euch offen von dem Vater verkündigen werde.26 An jenem Tage werdet ihr bitten in meinem Namen, und ich sage euch nicht, daß ich den Vater für euch bitten werde;27 denn der Vater selbst hat euch lieb, weil ihr mich geliebt und geglaubt habt, daß ich von Gott ausgegangen bin.28 Ich bin von dem Vater ausgegangen und bin in die Welt gekommen; wiederum verlasse ich die Welt und gehe zum Vater.29 Seine Jünger sprechen zu ihm: Siehe, jetzt redest du offen und sprichst kein Gleichnis;30 jetzt wissen wir, daß du alles weißt und nicht nötig hast, daß dich jemand frage; hierdurch glauben wir, daß du von Gott ausgegangen bist.31 Jesus antwortete ihnen: Glaubet ihr jetzt?32 Siehe, es kommt die Stunde und ist gekommen, daß ihr zerstreut sein werdet, ein jeder in das Seinige, und mich allein lassen werdet; und ich bin nicht allein, denn der Vater ist bei mir.33 Dieses habe ich zu euch geredet, auf daß ihr in mir Frieden habet. In der Welt habt ihr Drangsal; aber seid gutes Mutes, ich habe die Welt überwunden.

John 16

1 “I have told you all these things so that you will not fall away.ts2 They will put you out oft the synagogue,s yet a timet is coming when the one who kills you will think he is offering service to God.s3 Theyt will do these things because they have not known the Father or me.s

4 But I have told you these thingst so that when their timet comes, you will remember that I told you about them.t
“I did not tell you these things from the beginning because I was with you.s5 But now I am going to the one who sent me,s and not one of you is asking me, ‘Where are you going?’s6 Instead your hearts are filled with sadnesst because I have said these things to you.7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocatet will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you.8 And when het comes, he will prove the world wrongt concerning sin andt righteousness andt judgment –9 concerning sin, becauset they do not believe in me;s10 concerning righteousness,t becauset I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer;

11 and concerning judgment,s becauset the ruler of this worlds has been condemned.t
12 “I have many more things to say to you,s but you cannot beart them now.13 But when he,t the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guidet you into all truth.s For he will not speak on his own authority,t but will speak whatever he hears, and will tell yout what is to come.t14 Het will glorify me,t because he will receivet from me what is minet and will tell it to you.t15 Everything that the Father has is mine; that is why I said the Spiritt will receive from me what is minet and will tell it to you.t

16 In a little while yout will see me no longer; again after a little while, yout will see me.”s
17 Then some of his disciples said to one another, “What is the meaning of what he is saying,t ‘In a little while yout will not see me; again after a little while, yout will see me,’ and, ‘because I am going to the Father’?”s

18 So they kept on repeating,t “What is the meaning of what he says,t ‘In a little while’?t We do not understandt what he is talking about.”t
19 Jesus could seets that they wanted to ask him about these things,t sot he said to them, “Are you askingt each other about this – that I said, ‘In a little while yout will not see me; again after a little while, yout will see me’?20 I tell you the solemn truth,t you will weept and wail,t but the world will rejoice; you will be sad,t but your sadness will turn intot joy.21 When a woman gives birth, she has distresss because her timet has come, but when her child is born, she no longer remembers the suffering because of her joy that a human beingt has been born into the world.s22 So also you have sorrowt now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.s23 At that timet you will ask me nothing. I tell you the solemn truth,t whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.s

24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive it,t so that your joy may be complete.
25 “I have told you these things in obscure figures of speech;t a timet is coming when I will no longer speak to you in obscure figures, but will tell yout plainlyt about the Father.26 At that timet you will ask in my name, and I do not sayt that I will ask the Father on your behalf.27 For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.s

28 I came from the Father and entered into the world, but in turn,t I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”s
29 His disciples said, “Look, now you are speaking plainlyt and not in obscure figures of speech!ts

30 Now we know that you know everythingt and do not need anyonet to ask you anything.t Because of thist we believe that you have come from God.”
31 Jesus replied,t “Do you now believe?32 Look, a timet is coming – and has come – when you will be scattered, each one to his own home,t and I will be left alone.s Yett I am not alone, because my Fathert is with me.

33 I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering,t but take couraget – I have conquered the world.”ts
