Johannes 17

1 Dies redete Jesus und hob seine Augen zum Himmel empor und sprach: Vater, die Stunde ist gekommen; verherrliche deinen Sohn, damit auch dein Sohn dich verherrliche2 - gleichwie du ihm Vollmacht gegeben hast über alles Fleisch, damit er allen ewiges Leben gebe, die du ihm gegeben hast.3 Das ist aber das ewige Leben, dass sie dich, den allein wahren Gott , und den du gesandt hast, Jesus Christus, erkennen.4 Ich habe dich verherrlicht auf Erden; ich habe das Werk vollendet , das du mir gegeben hast, damit ich es tun soll.5 Und nun verherrliche du mich, Vater, bei dir selbst mit der Herrlichkeit, die ich bei dir hatte, ehe die Welt war.6 Ich habe deinen Namen den Menschen offenbar gemacht, die du mir aus der Welt gegeben hast; sie waren dein, und du hast sie mir gegeben, und sie haben dein Wort bewahrt .7 Nun erkennen sie, dass alles, was du mir gegeben hast, von dir kommt;8 denn die Worte, die du mir gegeben hast, habe ich ihnen gegeben, und sie haben sie angenommen und haben wahrhaft erkannt, dass ich von dir ausgegangen bin, und glauben, dass du mich gesandt hast.9 Ich bitte für sie ; nicht für die Welt bitte ich, sondern für die, welche du mir gegeben hast, weil sie dein sind.10 Und alles , was mein ist, das ist dein, und was dein ist, das ist mein; und ich bin in ihnen verherrlicht .11 Und ich bin nicht mehr in der Welt; diese aber sind in der Welt, und ich komme zu dir. Heiliger Vater , bewahre sie in deinem Namen, die du mir gegeben hast, damit sie eins seien, gleichwie wir!12 Als ich bei ihnen in der Welt war, bewahrte ich sie in deinem Namen ; die du mir gegeben hast, habe ich behütet, und keiner von ihnen ist verlorengegangen als nur der Sohn des Verderbens , damit die Schrift erfüllt würde.13 Nun aber komme ich zu dir und rede dies in der Welt, damit sie meine Freude völlig in sich haben.14 Ich habe ihnen dein Wort gegeben, und die Welt hasst sie; denn sie sind nicht von der Welt, gleichwie auch ich nicht von der Welt bin.15 Ich bitte nicht, dass du sie aus der Welt nimmst , sondern dass du sie bewahrst vor dem Bösen.16 Sie sind nicht von der Welt, gleichwie auch ich nicht von der Welt bin.17 Heilige sie in deiner Wahrheit! Dein Wort ist Wahrheit.18 Gleichwie du mich in die Welt gesandt hast, so sende auch ich sie in die Welt.19 Und ich heilige mich selbst für sie, damit auch sie geheiligt seien in Wahrheit.20 Ich bitte aber nicht für diese allein, sondern auch für die, welche durch ihr Wort an mich glauben werden,21 auf dass sie alle eins seien, gleichwie du, Vater , in mir und ich in dir; auf dass auch sie in uns eins seien, damit die Welt glaube, dass du mich gesandt hast.22 Und ich habe die Herrlichkeit , die du mir gegeben hast, ihnen gegeben, auf dass sie eins seien, gleichwie wir eins sind,23 ich in ihnen und du in mir , damit sie zu vollendeter Einheit gelangen, und damit die Welt erkenne, dass du mich gesandt hast und sie liebst , gleichwie du mich liebst.24 Vater, ich will, dass, wo ich bin, auch die bei mir seien , die du mir gegeben hast, damit sie meine Herrlichkeit sehen, die du mir gegeben hast; denn du hast mich geliebt vor Grundlegung der Welt.25 Gerechter Vater, die Welt erkennt dich nicht; ich aber erkenne dich, und diese erkennen, dass du mich gesandt hast.26 Und ich habe ihnen deinen Namen verkündet und werde ihn verkünden, damit die Liebe, mit der du mich liebst , in ihnen sei und ich in ihnen.

JOHN 17

Jesus Prays

1 After Jesus had finished speaking to his disciples, he looked up toward heaven and prayed:
Father, the time has come for you to bring glory to your Son, in order that he may bring glory to you. 2 And you gave him power over all people, so he would give eternal life to everyone you give him. 3 t Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, the one you sent. 4 I have brought glory to you here on earth by doing everything you gave me to do.

5 Now, Father, give me back the glory I had with you before the world was created.
6 You have given me some followers from this world, and I have shown them what you are like. They were yours, but you gave them to me, and they have obeyed you. 7 They know that you gave me everything I have. 8 I told my followers what you told me, and they accepted it. They know I came from you, and they believe you are the one who sent me. 9 I am praying for them, but not for those who belong to this world.t My followers belong to you, and I am praying for them.

10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine, and they will bring glory to me.
11 Holy Father, I am no longer in the world. I am coming to you, but my followers are still in the world. So keep them safe by the power of the name you have given me. Then they will be one with each other, just as you and I are one.

12 t While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost, except the one who had to be lost. This happened so that what the Scriptures say would come true.
13 I am on my way to you. But I say these things while I am still in the world, so my followers will have the same complete joy that I do.

14 I have told them your message. But the people of this world hate them, because they don't belong to this world, just as I don't.
15 Father, I don't ask you to take my followers out of the world, but keep them safe from the evil one. 16 They don't belong to this world, and neither do I. 17 Your word is the truth. So let this truth make them completely yours. 18 I am sending them into the world, just as you sent me.

19 I have given myself completely for their sake, so they may belong completely to the truth.
20 I am not praying just for these followers. I am also praying for everyone else who will have faith because of what my followers will say about me.

21 I want all of them to be one with each other, just as I am one with you and you are one with me. I also want them to be one with us. Then the people of this world will believe that you sent me.
22 I have honored my followers in the same way you honored me, in order that they may be one with each other, just as we are one.

23 I am one with them, and you are one with me, so they may become completely one. Then this world's people will know that you sent me. They will know that you love my followers as much as you love me.
24 Father, I want everyone you have given me to be with me, wherever I am. Then they will see the glory you have given me, because you loved me before the world was created. 25 Good Father, the people of this world don't know you. But I know you, and my followers know that you sent me. 26 I told them what you are like, and I will tell them even more. Then the love you have for me will become part of them, and I will be one with them.
