Bryllupet i Kana

1 Den tredje dagen var det et bryllup i Kana i Galilea. Jesu mor var der, t 2 og Jesus og disiplene hans var også innbudt. 3 Da tok vinen slutt, og Jesu mor sa til ham: «De har ikke mer vin.» 4 «Kvinne, hva har du med mitt å gjøre?» sa Jesus. «Min time er ennå ikke kommet.» t

5 Men hans mor sa til tjenerne: «Det han sier dere, skal dere gjøre.»t
6 Nå stod det noen vannkar av stein der, slik skikken var etter jødenes forskrifter om renselse. Det var seks kar, og hvert av dem tok to eller tre anker. t 7 «Fyll karene med vann,» sa Jesus. Og tjenerne fylte dem til randen. 8 «Øs nå opp og bær det til kjøkemesteren,» sa han. De bar det til kjøkemesteren, 9 og han smakte på vannet som var blitt til vin. Han visste ikke hvor den var kommet fra, men tjenerne som hadde øst opp vannet, visste det. Da bad han brudgommen komme

10 og sa: «Andre setter først fram den gode vinen, og når gjestene er drukne, kommer de med den dårlige. Men du har spart den gode vinen til nå.»
11 Dette sitt første tegn gjorde Jesus i Kana i Galilea. Han åpenbarte sin herlighet, og hans disipler trodde på ham. t

12 Deretter drog han ned til Kapernaum, sammen med sin mor, sine brødre og sine disipler, og der ble de noen dager.

Det gamle og det nye tempel

(Matt 21,12–13; Mark 11,15–17; Luk19,45–46)

17 Hans disipler mintes da det som står skrevet: Brennende iver for ditt hus skal fortære meg.t
18 Da tok jødene til orde og spurte ham: «Kan du vise oss et tegn på at du har rett til å gjøre dette?» t 19 Jesus svarte: «Riv ned dette templet, og jeg skal reise det opp på tre dager.» t 20 «I førtiseks år har de bygd på dette templet, og du vil reise det opp igjen på tre dager?» sa de. 21 Men han talte om sitt legemes tempel. t

22 Da han var stått opp fra de døde, husket disiplene at han hadde sagt dette, og de trodde Skriften og det ordet Jesus hadde sagt.t
23 Mens han var i Jerusalem under påskefesten, kom mange til tro på hans navn, for de så de tegn han gjorde. t 24 Men Jesus viste dem ingen fortrolighet, for han kjente dem alle. 25 Han trengte ikke andres vitnesbyrd om noe menneske, for han visste selv hva som bodde i mennesket.

John 2

Turning Water into Wine

1 Now on the third day there was a wedding at Canas in Galilee.s Jesus’ mothert was there,2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.s3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.”ts4 Jesus replied,t “Woman,s why are you saying this to me?t My timets has not yet come.”

5 His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”t
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing,t each holding twenty or thirty gallons.ts7 Jesus told the servants,t “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,”t and they did.9 Whent the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came fromt (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), het called the bridegroom10 and said to him, “Everyonet serves the good wine first, and then the cheapert wine when the guestst are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs,t in Canas of Galilee. In this way he revealedt his glory, and his disciples believed in him.t

Cleansing the Temple

12 After this he went down to Capernaumss with his mother and brotherss and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13 Now the Jewish feast of Passovert was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.s
14 s He found in the temple courtsts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.t15 So he made a whip of cordss and drove them all out of the temple courts,t with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changerss and overturned their tables.16 To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not maket my Father’s house a marketplace!”ts

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zealtfor your house will devour me.”s
18 So then the Jewish leaderst responded,t “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”s19 Jesus replied,t “Destroyt this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”20 Then the Jewish leaderst said to him, “This temple has been under constructiont for forty-six years,s and are you going to raise it up in three days?”21 But Jesust was speaking about the temple of his body.ts

22 So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scriptures and the sayingt that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus at the Passover Feast

23 Now while Jesust was in Jerusalems at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.s24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.t

25 He did not need anyone to testify about man,t for he knew what was in man.t
