Jesus förvandlar vatten till vin

1 Två dagar senare hölls ett bröllop i staden Kana i Galileen, och Jesus mamma Maria var där.2 Jesus och hans efterföljare var också inbjudna.

3 Mitt under bröllopsfesten tog vinet slut, och Maria gick då till Jesus och berättade det för honom.

4 "Lämna mig ifred, mamma", svarade han. "Den tid som Gud bestämt har inte kommit än, då jag ska avslöja varför jag har kommit."

5 Men hans mamma sa till tjänarna: "Gör precis som han säger."
6 I huset fanns sex stora stenkrukor. De användes vid de judiska reningsceremonierna och rymde omkring 100 liter var.

7-8 Jesus sa nu till tjänarna: "Fyll krukorna med vatten", och när alla krukorna var helt fulla, sa han: "Häll upp lite och ge det till bröllopsvärden." Och tjänarna gjorde som han sa.
9 Värden smakade på vattnet, som nu hade förvandlats till vin. Men eftersom han inte visste varifrån det kom - bara tjänarna kände till det ‑ kallade han på brudgummen och sa:

10 "Det här är ett utsökt vin. Du gör minsann inte som alla andra och bjuder på sämre vin när gästerna börjar bli berusade. Du har sparat det bästa till sist."

11 Genom det här undret i Kana i Galileen visade Jesus för första gången offentligt sin gudomliga makt, och hans efterföljare blev övertygade om att han var sänd av Gud.

12 Efter bröllopet gick Jesus till Kafarnaum tillsammans med sin mamma, sina bröder och sina efterföljare, och de stannade där under några dagar.

Jesus rensar templet

13 När den judiska påskhögtident närmade sig gick Jesus till Jerusalem.14 Och där på tempelområdet fick han se köpmännen som sålde oxar, får och duvor, och myntväxlarna som satt och växlade pengar.t15 Jesus gjorde sig därför en piska av några repstumpar och drev ut allihop från tempelområdet tillsammans med fåren och oxarna. Han slog ut myntväxlarnas pengar och välte deras bord,

16 och han gick till männen som sålde duvor och sa till dem: "Ta ert pick och pack och försvinn härifrån! Gör inte min Fars hus till en marknadsplats!"

17 Då kom hans efterföljare ihåg att det står i Skriftent: "Omsorgen om ditt hus ska brinna som en eld inom mig."t

18 Men de judiska ledarna sa till Jesus: "Om Gud har gett dig i uppdrag att göra detta, så bevisa det genom att göra ett under."

19 "Det ska jag göra", svarade Jesus. "Riv ner det här templet, så ska jag resa upp det igen på tre dagar."
20 "Va!" ropade de. "Det tog 46 år att bygga det här templet, och du påstår att du kan resa upp det igen på tre dagar."21 Men det tempel Jesus talade om var hans egen kropp.

22 När han sedan uppstod från de döda kom hans efterföljare ihåg att han hade sagt detta, och de trodde på det som Gud förutsagt i Skriften och på det budskap de hade hört från Jesus själv.
23 Tack vare de under han gjorde i Jerusalem under påskhögtiden började många tro att han verkligen var sänd av Gud.

24-25 Men Jesus litade inte på någon, för han kände deras innersta tankar. Ingen behövde tala om för honom hur opålitliga människor kan vara.

John 2

Turning Water into Wine

1 Now on the third day there was a wedding at Canas in Galilee.s Jesus’ mothert was there,2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.s3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.”ts4 Jesus replied,t “Woman,s why are you saying this to me?t My timets has not yet come.”

5 His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”t
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing,t each holding twenty or thirty gallons.ts7 Jesus told the servants,t “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,”t and they did.9 Whent the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came fromt (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), het called the bridegroom10 and said to him, “Everyonet serves the good wine first, and then the cheapert wine when the guestst are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs,t in Canas of Galilee. In this way he revealedt his glory, and his disciples believed in him.t

Cleansing the Temple

12 After this he went down to Capernaumss with his mother and brotherss and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13 Now the Jewish feast of Passovert was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.s
14 s He found in the temple courtsts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.t15 So he made a whip of cordss and drove them all out of the temple courts,t with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changerss and overturned their tables.16 To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not maket my Father’s house a marketplace!”ts

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zealtfor your house will devour me.”s
18 So then the Jewish leaderst responded,t “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”s19 Jesus replied,t “Destroyt this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”20 Then the Jewish leaderst said to him, “This temple has been under constructiont for forty-six years,s and are you going to raise it up in three days?”21 But Jesust was speaking about the temple of his body.ts

22 So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scriptures and the sayingt that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus at the Passover Feast

23 Now while Jesust was in Jerusalems at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.s24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.t

25 He did not need anyone to testify about man,t for he knew what was in man.t
