Le nozze di Cana; l'acqua mutata in vino

1 E TRE giorni appresso, si fecero delle nozze in Cana di Galilea, e la madre di Gesù era quivi. 2 Or anche Gesù, co'~suoi discepoli, fu chiamato alle nozze. 3 Ed essendo venuto meno il vino, la madre di Gesù gli disse: Non hanno più vino. 4 Gesù le disse: Che v'è fra te e met, o donnat? l'ora mia non è ancora venutat.

5 Sua madre disse ai servitori: Fate tutto ciò ch'egli vi dirà.
6 Or quivi erano sei pile di pietra, poste secondo l'usanza della purificazion dei Giudeit, le quali contenevano due, o tre misure grandi per una. 7 Gesù disse loro: Empiete d'acqua le pile. Ed essi le empierono fino in cima. 8 Poi egli disse loro: Attingete ora, e portatelo allo scalco. Ed essi gliel portarono. 9 E come lo scalco ebbe assaggiata l'acqua ch'era stata fatta vino (or egli non sapeva onde quel vino si fosse, ma ben lo sapevano i servitori che aveano attinta l'acqua), chiamò lo sposo, e gli disse:

10 Ogni uomo presenta prima il buon vino; e dopo che si è bevuto largamente, il men buono; ma tu hai serbato il buon vino infino ad ora.

11 Gesù fece questo principio di miracoli in Cana di Galilea, e manifestò la sua gloriat; e i suoi discepoli credettero in lui.

12 Dopo questo discese in Capernaum, egli, e sua madre, e i suoi fratellit, e i suoi discepoli, e stettero quivi non molti giorni.

Gesù purifica il tempio

13 OR la pasqua de'~Giudei era vicina; e Gesù salì in Gerusalemmet.
14 E trovò nel tempio coloro che vendevano buoi, e pecore, e colombi; e i cambiatori che sedevano. 15 Ed egli, fatta una sferza di cordicelle, li cacciò tutti fuor del tempio, insieme co'~buoi, e le pecore; e sparse la moneta de'~cambiatori, e riversò le tavole. 16 Ed a coloro che vendevano i colombi disse: Togliete di qui queste cose; non fate della casa del Padre mio una casa di mercato.

17 E i suoi discepoli si ricordarono ch'egli è scritto: Lo zelo della tua casa mi ha rosot.
18 Perciò i Giudei gli fecer motto, e dissero: Che segno ci mostri, che tu fai coteste coset? 19 Gesù rispose, e disse loro: Disfate questo tempio, e in tre giorni io lo ridirizzeròt. 20 Laonde i Giudei dissero: Questo tempio è stato edificato in quarantasei anni, e tu lo ridirizzeresti in tre giorni? 21 Ma egli diceva del tempio del suo corpot.

22 Quando egli adunque fu risuscitato da'~morti, i suoi discepoli si ricordarono ch'egli avea lor detto questo; e credettero alla scrittura, ed alle parole che Gesù avea dette.

Turning Water into Wine

1 Now on the third day there was a wedding at Canas in Galilee.s Jesus’ mothert was there,2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.s3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.”ts4 Jesus replied,t “Woman,s why are you saying this to me?t My timets has not yet come.”

5 His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”t
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing,t each holding twenty or thirty gallons.ts7 Jesus told the servants,t “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,”t and they did.9 Whent the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came fromt (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), het called the bridegroom10 and said to him, “Everyonet serves the good wine first, and then the cheapert wine when the guestst are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs,t in Canas of Galilee. In this way he revealedt his glory, and his disciples believed in him.t

Cleansing the Temple

12 After this he went down to Capernaumss with his mother and brotherss and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13 Now the Jewish feast of Passovert was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.s
14 s He found in the temple courtsts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.t15 So he made a whip of cordss and drove them all out of the temple courts,t with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changerss and overturned their tables.16 To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not maket my Father’s house a marketplace!”ts

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zealtfor your house will devour me.”s
18 So then the Jewish leaderst responded,t “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”s19 Jesus replied,t “Destroyt this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”20 Then the Jewish leaderst said to him, “This temple has been under constructiont for forty-six years,s and are you going to raise it up in three days?”21 But Jesust was speaking about the temple of his body.ts

22 So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scriptures and the sayingt that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus at the Passover Feast

23 Now while Jesust was in Jerusalems at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.s24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.t

25 He did not need anyone to testify about man,t for he knew what was in man.t
