二
1 それから三日目に、ガリラヤのカナという村で結婚式があり、イエスの母マリヤは、客として出席しました。 2 イエスと弟子たちも招待されました。 3 ところが、宴会の最中だというのに、ぶどう酒が切れてしまったのです。 マリヤは、そのことをイエスに知らせました。
4 イエスは、「今はだめですよ、お母さん。 まだ、奇蹟を行なう時ではありませんから」と、お答えになりました。
5 しかし、マリヤは手伝いの者たちに、「この人の言いつけどおりになさってね」と申し渡しました。
6 さてそこには、石の水がめが六つありました。 ユダヤ教の儀式に使う水がめで、それぞれ八十リットルから百二十リットルぐらい入るものです。 7 イエスは手伝いの者たちに、「さあ、縁までいっぱい水を入れなさい」と指示なさいました。 彼らがそのとおりにすると、 8 「いいでしょう。 では今度は、それを汲んで、宴会の世話役のところへ持って行きなさい」と言われました。 彼らは、言われるままに持って行きました。
9 宴会の世話役が試しに一口味わってみると、おいしいぶどう酒です。 「こんな上等の酒を、いったいどこから出してきたんだろう」と首をかしげました。 〔もちろん手伝いの者たちは何もかも知っています。〕そこで、花婿を呼び出して、 10 言いました。
「これは極上のぶどう酒じゃないですか。 あなたは並みの方じゃありませんね。 たいていどこの家でも、初めに良いぶどう酒を出し、酔いがまわって味がわからなくなると、安物でごまかすものですよ。 ところがあなたは、一番上等なものを、最後まで取っておかれたんですからね。」
11 このガリラヤのカナでの奇蹟は、イエスが神の力を公に示された最初のものでした。 これを見て、弟子たちは、「イエス様は正真正銘のメシヤ（救い主）だ」と信じたのです。
12 その結婚式のあと、イエスは、母や兄弟、弟子たちといっしょにカペナウムへ行き、数日間、滞在されました。
イエス、エルサレム神殿をきよめる
13 ユダヤ人の過越の祭りが近づき、イエスはエルサレムへ行かれました。
14 そして、宮の境内で、供え物用の牛、羊、鳩を売る商人たちや、勘定台を前にどっかと座り込んでいる両替人たちをごらんになりました。 15 あまりの有様に、イエスはなわでむちを作り、商売人たちをみな追い出され、鳩や羊や牛を追い散らし始められました。 次々に両替人の勘定台をひっくり返されるので、お金はあたり一面に散らばり、足の踏み場もありません。 16 鳩を売る者たちには、「それを持って、出て行きなさい。 父の家を金もうけの場所にしてはいけません」と、言われました。
17 そのとき弟子たちは、「神の家を思う熱心が、わたしを焼き尽くす」という、聖書（旧約）の預言を思い出したのです。
18 おさまらないのは、ユダヤ人の指導者たちです。 かんかんになって抗議しました。 「いったい何の権利があって、この人たちを追い出すのかっ！ そんな権威を神様から与えられてるんだったら、その証拠に奇蹟を見せてもらおうじゃないか。」
19 イエスはお答えになりました。 「わかりました。 この神殿をこわしなさい。 三日で建て直してみせましょう。」
20 「何だってっ！ この神殿は建てるのに四十六年もかかったんだ。それを三日で建てると言うのかっ！」ユダヤ人たちはあきれ返りました。 21 しかしイエスが「この神殿」と言われたのは、自分の体のことだったのです。 22 イエスが復活されてから、弟子たちは、このことを思い出しました。 そして、イエスは自分のことを、聖書のことばを引用して話されたのであり、何もかもそのとおりになったと、改めて納得がいったのです。
23 過越の祭りの時、イエスがエルサレムで奇蹟を行なわれたので、多くの人が、「この方は確かにメシヤ（救い主）様だ」と信じるようになりました。 24-25 しかしイエスは、そういう人々を信用されたわけではありません。 人間がどれほど変わりやすいものか、その心の底の底まで、知り尽くしておられたからです。新しいいのちが与えられる
John 2
1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:2 and Jesus also was bidden, and his disciples, to the marriage.3 And when the wine failed, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.4 And Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.6 Now there were six waterpots of stone set there after the Jews’ manner of purifying, containing two or three firkins apiece.7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the ruler of the feast. And they bare it.9 And when the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and knew not whence it was (but the servants that had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast calleth the bridegroom,10 and saith unto him, Every man setteth on first the good wine; and when men have drunk freely, then that which is worse: thou hast kept the good wine until now.11 This beginning of his signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed on him.12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and there they abode not many days.13 And the passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.14 And he found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:15 and he made a scourge of cords, and cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew their tables;16 and to them that sold the doves he said, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise.17 His disciples remembered that it was written, Zeal for thy house shall eat me up.18 The Jews therefore answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.20 The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?21 But he spake of the temple of his body.22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he spake this; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, during the feast, many believed on his name, beholding his signs which he did.24 But Jesus did not trust himself unto them, for that he knew all men,25 and because he needed not that any one should bear witness concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
