1 Ja kolmantena päivänä oli häät Galilean Kaanassa, ja Jeesuksen äiti oli siellä. 2 Ja myös Jeesus ja hänen opetuslapsensa olivat kutsutut häihin. 3 Ja kun viini loppui, sanoi Jeesuksen äiti hänelle: "Heillä ei ole viiniä". 4 Jeesus sanoi hänelle: "Mitä sinä tahdot minusta, vaimo? Minun aikani ei ole vielä tullut." 5 Hänen äitinsä sanoi palvelijoille: "Mitä hän teille sanoo, se tehkää". 6 Niin oli siinä juutalaisten puhdistamistavan mukaan kuusi kivistä vesiastiaa, kukin kahden tai kolmen mitan vetoinen. 7 Jeesus sanoi heille: "Täyttäkää astiat vedellä". Ja he täyttivät ne reunoja myöten. 8 Ja hän sanoi heille: "Ammentakaa nyt ja viekää edeskäyvälle". Ja he veivät. 9 Mutta kun edeskäypä maistoi vettä, joka oli muuttunut viiniksi, eikä tiennyt, mistä se oli tullut-mutta palvelijat, jotka veden olivat ammentaneet, tiesivät sen-kutsui edeskäypä yljän 10 ja sanoi hänelle: "Jokainen panee ensin esille hyvän viinin ja sitten, kun juopuvat, huonomman. 12 Sen jälkeen hän meni alas Kapernaumiin, hän ja hänen äitinsä ja veljensä ja opetuslapsensa; ja siellä he eivät viipyneet monta päivää.

13 Ja juutalaisten pääsiäinen oli lähellä, ja Jeesus meni ylös Jerusalemiin. 14 Niin hän tapasi pyhäkössä ne, jotka myivät härkiä ja lampaita ja kyyhkysiä, ja rahanvaihtajat istumassa. 15 Ja hän teki nuorista ruoskan ja ajoi ulos pyhäköstä heidät kaikki lampaineen ja härkineen ja kaasi vaihtajain rahat maahan ja työnsi heidän pöytänsä kumoon. 16 Ja hän sanoi kyyhkysten myyjille: "Viekää pois nämä täältä. Älkää tehkö minun Isäni huonetta markkinahuoneeksi." 17 Silloin hänen opetuslapsensa muistivat, että on kirjoitettu: "Kiivaus sinun huoneesi puolesta kuluttaa minut".

18 Niin juutalaiset vastasivat ja sanoivat hänelle: "Minkä merkin sinä näytät meille, koska näitä teet?" 19 Jeesus vastasi ja sanoi heille: "Hajottakaa maahan tämä temppeli, niin minä pystytän sen kolmessa päivässä". 20 Niin juutalaiset sanoivat: "Neljäkymmentä kuusi vuotta on tätä temppeliä rakennettu, ja sinäkö pystytät sen kolmessa päivässä?" 21 Mutta hän puhui ruumiinsa temppelistä. 22 Kun hän sitten oli noussut kuolleista, muistivat hänen opetuslapsensa, että hän oli tämän sanonut; ja he uskoivat Raamatun ja sen sanan, jonka Jeesus oli sanonut.

23 Mutta kun hän oli Jerusalemissa pääsiäisenä, juhlan aikana, uskoivat monet hänen nimeensä, nähdessään hänen tunnustekonsa, jotka hän teki. 24 Mutta Jeesus itse ei uskonut itseänsä heille, sentähden että hän tunsi kaikki 25 eikä tarvinnut kenenkään todistusta ihmisestä, sillä hän tiesi itse, mitä ihmisessä on.

John 2

Turning Water into Wine

1 Now on the third day there was a wedding at Canas in Galilee.s Jesus’ mothert was there,2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.s3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.”ts4 Jesus replied,t “Woman,s why are you saying this to me?t My timets has not yet come.”

5 His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”t
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing,t each holding twenty or thirty gallons.ts7 Jesus told the servants,t “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,”t and they did.9 Whent the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came fromt (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), het called the bridegroom10 and said to him, “Everyonet serves the good wine first, and then the cheapert wine when the guestst are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs,t in Canas of Galilee. In this way he revealedt his glory, and his disciples believed in him.t

Cleansing the Temple

12 After this he went down to Capernaumss with his mother and brotherss and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13 Now the Jewish feast of Passovert was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.s
14 s He found in the temple courtsts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.t15 So he made a whip of cordss and drove them all out of the temple courts,t with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changerss and overturned their tables.16 To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not maket my Father’s house a marketplace!”ts

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zealtfor your house will devour me.”s
18 So then the Jewish leaderst responded,t “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”s19 Jesus replied,t “Destroyt this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”20 Then the Jewish leaderst said to him, “This temple has been under constructiont for forty-six years,s and are you going to raise it up in three days?”21 But Jesust was speaking about the temple of his body.ts

22 So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scriptures and the sayingt that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus at the Passover Feast

23 Now while Jesust was in Jerusalems at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.s24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.t

25 He did not need anyone to testify about man,t for he knew what was in man.t
