Giovanni 2

1 Tre giorni dopo, si fecero delle nozze in Cana di Galilea, e c’era la madre di Gesù.2 E Gesù pure fu invitato co’ suoi discepoli alle nozze.3 E venuto a mancare il vino, la madre di Gesù gli disse: Non han più vino.4 E Gesù le disse: Che v’è fra me e te, o donna? L’ora mia non è ancora venuta.5 Sua madre disse ai servitori: Fate tutto quel che vi dirà.6 Or c’erano quivi sei pile di pietra, destinate alla purificazione de’ Giudei, le quali contenevano ciascuna due o tre misure.7 Gesù disse loro: Empite d’acqua le pile. Ed essi le empirono fino all’orlo.8 Poi disse loro: Ora attingete, e portatene al maestro di tavola. Ed essi gliene portarono.9 E quando il maestro di tavola ebbe assaggiata l’acqua ch’era diventata vino (or egli non sapea donde venisse, ma ben lo sapeano i servitori che aveano attinto l’acqua), chiamò lo sposo e gli disse:10 Ognuno serve prima il vin buono; e quando si è bevuto largamente, il men buono; tu, invece, hai serbato il vin buono fino ad ora.11 Gesù fece questo primo de’ suoi miracoli in Cana di Galilea, e manifestò la sua gloria; e i suoi discepoli credettero in lui.

12 Dopo questo, scese a Capernaum, egli con sua madre, co’ suoi fratelli e i suoi discepoli; e stettero quivi non molti giorni.

13 Or la Pasqua de’ Giudei era vicina, e Gesù salì a Gerusalemme.14 E trovò nel tempio quelli che vendevano buoi e pecore e colombi, e i cambiamonete seduti.15 E fatta una sferza di cordicelle, scacciò tutti fuori del tempio, pecore e buoi; e sparpagliò il danaro dei cambiamonete, e rovesciò le tavole;16 e a quelli che vendeano i colombi, disse: Portate via di qui queste cose; non fate della casa del Padre mio una casa di mercato.17 E i suoi discepoli si ricordarono che sta scritto: Lo zelo della tua casa mi consuma.

18 I Giudei allora presero a dirgli: Qual segno ci mostri tu che fai queste cose?19 Gesù rispose loro: Disfate questo tempio, e in tre giorni lo farò risorgere.20 Allora i Giudei dissero: Quarantasei anni è durata la fabbrica di questo tempio e tu lo faresti risorgere in tre giorni?21 Ma egli parlava del tempio del suo corpo.22 Quando dunque fu risorto da’ morti, i suoi discepoli si ricordarono ch’egli avea detto questo; e credettero alla Scrittura e alla parola che Gesù avea detta.

23 Mentr’egli era in Gerusalemme alla festa di Pasqua, molti credettero nel suo nome, vedendo i miracoli ch’egli faceva.24 Ma Gesù non si fidava di loro, perché conosceva tutti,25 e perché non avea bisogno della testimonianza d’alcuno sull’uomo, poiché egli stesso conosceva quello che era nell’uomo.

John 2

Turning Water into Wine

1 Now on the third day there was a wedding at Canas in Galilee.s Jesus’ mothert was there,2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.s3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.”ts4 Jesus replied,t “Woman,s why are you saying this to me?t My timets has not yet come.”

5 His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”t
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing,t each holding twenty or thirty gallons.ts7 Jesus told the servants,t “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,”t and they did.9 Whent the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came fromt (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), het called the bridegroom10 and said to him, “Everyonet serves the good wine first, and then the cheapert wine when the guestst are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs,t in Canas of Galilee. In this way he revealedt his glory, and his disciples believed in him.t

Cleansing the Temple

12 After this he went down to Capernaumss with his mother and brotherss and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13 Now the Jewish feast of Passovert was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.s
14 s He found in the temple courtsts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.t15 So he made a whip of cordss and drove them all out of the temple courts,t with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changerss and overturned their tables.16 To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not maket my Father’s house a marketplace!”ts

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zealtfor your house will devour me.”s
18 So then the Jewish leaderst responded,t “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”s19 Jesus replied,t “Destroyt this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”20 Then the Jewish leaderst said to him, “This temple has been under constructiont for forty-six years,s and are you going to raise it up in three days?”21 But Jesust was speaking about the temple of his body.ts

22 So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scriptures and the sayingt that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus at the Passover Feast

23 Now while Jesust was in Jerusalems at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.s24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.t

25 He did not need anyone to testify about man,t for he knew what was in man.t
