Bryllupet i Kana

1 Den tredje dagen var det bryllup i Kana i Galilea, og Jesu mor var der. s2 Også Jesus og disiplene hans var innbudt til bryllupet. 3 Da det ble mangel på vin, sa Jesu mor til ham: De har ikke vin. 4 Jesus sa til henne: Kvinne, hva vil du meg? Min time er ennå ikke kommet. s5 Hans mor sa til tjenerne: Hva han sier til dere, det skal dere gjøre. s6 Nå sto der, etter jødenes renselsesskikk, seks vannkar av stein, hvert på to eller tre anker. s7 Jesus sa til dem: Fyll karene med vann! Og de fylte dem til randen. 8 Så sa han til dem: Øs nå opp og bær det til kjøkemesteren! Og de bar det til ham. 9 Kjøkemesteren smakte på vannet som var blitt til vin. Han visste ikke hvor den kom fra. Men tjenerne visste det, de som hadde øst opp vannet. Kjøkemesteren kalte da på brudgommen og sa til ham: s10 Hver mann setter først den gode vinen fram, og når de er blitt drukne, da den ringere. Men du har gjemt den gode vinen til nå! 11 Dette sitt første tegn gjorde Jesus i Kana i Galilea og åpenbarte sin herlighet. Og disiplene hans trodde på ham. ss

Jesus renser templet

12 Etter dette dro han ned til Kapernaum, han selv, hans mor, hans brødre og hans disipler. Der ble de noen få dager. s

13 Jødenes påske var nå nær, og Jesus dro opp til Jerusalem. 14 I templet fant han dem som solgte okser, sauer og duer, og pengevekslerne som satt der. s15 Da laget han seg en svepe av rep og drev dem alle ut av templet, med sauene og oksene. Pengevekslernes penger tømte han ut og bordene deres veltet han. 16 Til dem som solgte duer, sa han: Ta dette bort herfra! Gjør ikke min Fars hus til en handelsbod! s17 Hans disipler mintes da at det er skrevet: Nidkjærhet for ditt hus skal fortære meg. s

18 Jødene tok da til orde og sa til ham: Hva for tegn viser du oss, siden du gjør dette? ss19 Jesus svarte og sa til dem: Bryt dette templet ned, så skal jeg gjenreise det på tre dager. s20 Jødene sa da til ham: I førtiseks år har det vært bygd på dette templet, og du vil reise det opp på tre dager? 21 Men han talte om sitt legemes tempel. 22 Da han var reist opp fra de døde, mintes disiplene hans at han hadde sagt dette. Og de trodde Skriften og det ordet Jesus hadde sagt. s

Mange tror på Jesus

23 Mens han nå var i Jerusalem i påsken, på høytiden, trodde mange på hans navn da de så de tegnene han gjorde. 24 Men Jesus selv betrodde seg ikke til dem, fordi han kjente alle, s25 og fordi han ikke trengte til at noen skulle vitne om et menneske. For selv visste han hva som bodde i mennesket. s

Turning Water into Wine

1 Now on the third day there was a wedding at Canas in Galilee.s Jesus’ mothert was there,2 and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.s3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.”ts4 Jesus replied,t “Woman,s why are you saying this to me?t My timets has not yet come.”

5 His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”t
6 Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing,t each holding twenty or thirty gallons.ts7 Jesus told the servants,t “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top.8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,”t and they did.9 Whent the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came fromt (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), het called the bridegroom10 and said to him, “Everyonet serves the good wine first, and then the cheapert wine when the guestst are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”

11 Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs,t in Canas of Galilee. In this way he revealedt his glory, and his disciples believed in him.t

Cleansing the Temple

12 After this he went down to Capernaumss with his mother and brotherss and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13 Now the Jewish feast of Passovert was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.s
14 s He found in the temple courtsts those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables.t15 So he made a whip of cordss and drove them all out of the temple courts,t with the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changerss and overturned their tables.16 To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not maket my Father’s house a marketplace!”ts

17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zealtfor your house will devour me.”s
18 So then the Jewish leaderst responded,t “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”s19 Jesus replied,t “Destroyt this temple and in three days I will raise it up again.”20 Then the Jewish leaderst said to him, “This temple has been under constructiont for forty-six years,s and are you going to raise it up in three days?”21 But Jesust was speaking about the temple of his body.ts

22 So after he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scriptures and the sayingt that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus at the Passover Feast

23 Now while Jesust was in Jerusalems at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing.s24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people.t

25 He did not need anyone to testify about man,t for he knew what was in man.t
