Isus și Nicodim

1 Între farisei era un om pe nume Nicodim, un conducător al iudeilor.

2 Acesta a venit la Isus noaptea și I-a zis:
– Rabbi t, știm că ești un învățător Care a venit de la Dumnezeu. Căci nimeni nu poate face aceste semne pe care le faci Tu, dacă nu este Dumnezeu cu el.

3 Isus i-a răspuns:
– Adevărat, adevărat îți spun că, dacă cineva nu este născut din nout nu poate vedea Împărăția lui Dumnezeut!

4 Nicodim L-a întrebat:
– Cum poate fi născut un om bătrân? Poate el oare să intre a doua oară în pântecele mamei lui și să fie născut?

5 Isus i-a răspuns:
– Adevărat, adevărat îți spun că, dacă cineva nu este născut din apă și din Duh nu poate să intre în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu!6 Ce este născut din carne este carne, iar ce este născut din Duh este duh.7 Să nu te miri că ți-am spus: „Trebuie să fiți născuți din nou!“8 Vântult suflă încotro vrea și-i auzi vuietul, dar nu știi de unde vine și unde se duce. Tot așa se întâmplă cu oricine este născut din Duhul.

9 Nicodim L-a întrebat:
– Cum se pot întâmpla aceste lucruri?

10 Isus i-a răspuns:
– Tu ești învățătorul lui Israel și nu înțelegi aceste lucruri?!11 Adevărat, adevărat îți spun că noi vorbim ceea ce știm și depunem mărturie despre ceea ce am văzut, dar voi nu primiți mărturia noastră.12 Dacă v-am vorbit despre lucrurile pământești și nu credeți, cum veți crede dacă vă voi vorbi despre lucrurile cerești?!13 Nimeni nu s-a suit în cer în afară de Cel Care a coborât din cer, adică de Fiul Omului (Care este în cer)t14 Și, așa cum Moise a înălțat șarpele în pustie,t tot așa trebuie să fie înălțat și Fiul Omului,15 pentru ca oricine crede în El să aibă viață veșnică.t

16 Fiindcăt atât de mult a iubit Dumnezeu lumea, încât L-a dat pe singurul Lui Fiut, pentru ca oricine crede în El să nu piară, ci să aibă viață veșnică.17 Căci Dumnezeu nu L-a trimis pe Fiul Său în lume ca să judece lumea, ci ca lumea să fie mântuită prin El.18 Cel ce crede în El nu este judecat; însă cel ce nu crede a și fost judecat, pentru că nu a crezut în Numele singurului Fiut al lui Dumnezeu.19 Și judecata este aceasta: lumina a venit în lume, dar oamenii au iubit mai mult întunericul decât lumina, pentru că faptele lor erau rele.20 Căci oricine face răul urăște lumina și nu vine la lumină, ca să nu i se expună faptele.21 Dar cel ce lucrează potrivit cu adevărul vine la lumină, ca să i se arate faptele, fiindcă sunt făcute în Dumnezeu.

Mărturia lui Ioan Botezătorul despre Isus

22 După aceea, Isus și ucenicii Lui au venit în ținutul Iudeii. Și stătea acolo cu ei și botezat.23 Ioan boteza și el în Aenon, aproape de Salim, pentru că acolo erau multe ape, și oamenii continuau să vină și să fie botezați.24 Căci Ioan încă nu fusese aruncat în închisoare.25 Între unii din ucenicii lui Ioan și un iudeut s-a iscat o controversă cu privire la curățire.

26 Au venit la Ioan și i-au zis:
– Rabbi , iată că Cel Ce era cu tine dincolo de Iordan, Cel despre Care tu ai depus mărturie, botează și toți se duc la El!

27 Ioan a răspuns:
– Omul nu poate primi decât ceea ce i-a fost dat din cer.28 Voi înșivă îmi sunteți martori că am zis: „Nu sunt eu Cristosul, ci eu sunt trimis înaintea Lui.“29 Cel ce are mireasă este mire. Însă prietenul mirelui, cel care stă și-l aude, se bucură foarte mult de glasul mirelui. Prin urmare această bucurie a mea este deplină.30 El trebuie să crească, iar eu să mă micșorez.t

31 Cel Ce vine de sus este deasupra tuturor. Cel ce vine de pe pământ este pământesc și vorbește lucruri de pe pământt. Cel Ce vine din cer este deasupra tuturor.32 El depune mărturie despre ceea ce a văzut și a auzit, dar nimeni nu primește mărturia Lui.33 Cel ce primește mărturia Lui confirmă că Dumnezeu este adevăratt.34 Căci Cel pe Care L-a trimis Dumnezeu vorbește cuvintele lui Dumnezeu, pentru că Dumnezeut nu-I dă Duhul cu măsură.35 Tatăl Îl iubește pe Fiul și a dat toate lucrurile în mâna Lui.36 Cel ce crede în Fiul are viața veșnică, dar cel ce nu crede în Fiult nu va vedea viața, ci mânia lui Dumnezeu rămâne peste el.

JOHN 3

Jesus and Nicodemus

1 There was a man named Nicodemus who was a Pharisee and a Jewish leader.

2 One night he went to Jesus and said, “Rabbi, we know that God has sent you to teach us. You could not work these miracles, unless God were with you.”

3 Jesus replied, “I tell you for certain that you must be born from abovet before you can see God's kingdom!”

4 Nicodemus asked, “How can a grown man ever be born a second time?”

5 Jesus answered:
I tell you for certain that before you can get into God's kingdom, you must be born not only by water, but by the Spirit. 6 Humans give life to their children. Yet only God's Spirit can change you into a child of God. 7 Don't be surprised when I say that you must be born from above.

8 Only God's Spirit gives new life. The Spirit is like the wind that blows wherever it wants to. You can hear the wind, but you don't know where it comes from or where it is going.

9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.

10 Jesus replied:
How can you be a teacher of Israel and not know these things? 11 I tell you for certain we know what we are talking about because we have seen it ourselves. But none of you will accept what we say.

12 t If you don't believe when I talk to you about things on earth, how can you possibly believe if I talk to you about things in heaven?
13  t No one has gone up to heaven except the Son of Man, who came down from there. 14 t And the Son of Man must be lifted up, just as the metal snake was lifted up by Moses in the desert.t

15 Then everyone who has faith in the Son of Man will have eternal life.
16 God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die. 17 God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them!

18 No one who has faith in God's Son will be condemned. But everyone who doesn't have faith in him has already been condemned for not having faith in God's only Son.
19 The light has come into the world, and people who do evil things are judged guilty because they love the dark more than the light. 20 People who do evil hate the light and won't come to the light, because it clearly shows what they have done.

21 But everyone who lives by the truth will come to the light, because they want others to know that God is really the one doing what they do.

Jesus and John the Baptist

22 Later, Jesus and his disciples went to Judea, where he stayed with them for a while and was baptizing people.

23-24  t John had not yet been put in jail. He was at Aenon near Salim, where there was a lot of water, and people were coming there for John to baptize them.
25 John's followers got into an argument with a Jewish mant about a ceremony of washing.t

26 They went to John and said, “Rabbi, you spoke about a man when you were with him east of the Jordan. He is now baptizing people, and everyone is going to him.”

27 John replied:
No one can do anything unless God in heaven allows it.

28 t You surely remember how I told you that I am not the Messiah. I am only the one sent ahead of him.
29 At a wedding the groom is the one who gets married. The best man is glad just to be there and to hear the groom's voice. That's why I am so glad.

30 Jesus must become more important, while I become less important.

The One Who Comes //from Heaven

34 The Son was sent to speak God's message, and he has been given the full power of God's Spirit.
35  t The Father loves the Son and has given him everything. 36 Everyone who has faith in the Son has eternal life. But no one who rejects him will ever share in that life, and God will be angry with them forever.
