Juan 3

Jesús y Nicodemo

1 Había un hombre llamado Nicodemo, era de los fariseost y líder importante de los judíos.

2 Este fue de noche a donde estaba Jesús y le dijo:
—Maestro, nosotros sabemos que Dios te envió a enseñarnos porque nadie sin la ayuda de Dios puede hacer las señales milagrosas que tú haces.

3 Jesús le respondió:
—Te digo la verdad: el que no nace de nuevo, no puede tener parte en el reino de Diost.

4 Nicodemo le dijo:
—Pero si uno ya es viejo, ¿cómo puede nacer de nuevo? ¿Acaso puede regresar al vientre de su mamá y nacer otra vez?

5 Jesús respondió:
—Te digo la verdad: el que no nace de agua y del Espíritu, no puede entrar al reino de Dios.6 El cuerpo de uno viene de los padres, pero la vida espiritual nace del Espíritu.7 No te sorprendas si te digo: "Ustedes tienen que nacer de nuevo".

8 El viento sopla para donde quiere ir. Tú lo escuchas soplar pero no sabes de dónde viene ni para dónde va. Así es con todos los que nacen del Espíritu.

9 Nicodemo le respondió:
—¿Cómo puede ser posible?

10 Jesús le contestó:
—¿Eres tú un maestro importante del Israelt y sin embargo no lo entiendes?11 Te digo la verdad: nosotros hablamos de lo que sabemos. Contamos lo que hemos visto, pero ustedes no aceptan lo que decimos.12 Les he hablado de cosas de la tierra y no creen ¿entonces cómo van a creer si les hablo de cosas del cielo?

13 El único que ha subido al cielo es el que bajó del cielo, el Hijo del hombret.
14 »Así como Moisést levantó una serpiente de metal en el desierto,t así tiene que ser levantado el Hijo del hombre

15 para que todo el que crea en él tenga vida eterna.
16 »Dios amó tanto al mundo que dio a su Hijo único para que todo el que crea en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna.17 Dios no envió a su Hijo al mundo para condenar al mundo, sino para salvarlo por medio de él.18 El que crea en el Hijo de Dios no será condenado. Pero el que no cree ya ha sido condenado por no haber creído en el Hijo único de Dios.19 La gente del mundo será juzgada porque con sus malas acciones no quiso la luzt que vino al mundo, sino que prefirió la oscuridad.20 Todo el que odia la luz no se acerca a ella porque la luz muestra todo lo malo que ha hecho.

21 Pero el que practica la verdad se acerca a la luz para que muestre que sus hechos se hicieron por obra de Dios».

Jesús y Juan el Bautista

22 Después de esto, Jesús se fue con sus seguidores a la región de Judea. Se quedó allí con ellos y bautizabat.23 Juan también estaba bautizando en Enón cerca de Salim, porque allí había mucha agua. La gente se acercaba a Juan para ser bautizada.

24 En ese momento, todavía no habían metido a Juan en la cárcel.
25 Luego, algunos de los seguidores de Juan discutían con un judío sobre la tradición de lavarse en las ceremonias y

26 fueron a decirle a Juan:
—Maestro, fíjate que ahora el hombre de quien diste testimonio, que estaba contigo al otro lado del Jordán, está bautizando a la gente y todos lo siguen.

27 Juan les respondió:
—Nadie puede tener nada si Dios no se lo concede.28 Ustedes mismos son testigos de que dije: "Yo no soy el Cristot". Solamente soy el que Dios envió para prepararle el camino.29 La novia únicamente es del novio, pero el amigo del novio espera y está atento para cuando él venga. El amigo se alegra cuando escucha la voz del novio. Esa es la misma alegría que siento ahora que él está aquí.

30 Ahora a él se le debe poner más atención y a mí menos.

El que viene de arriba

31 »El que viene de arriba es más importante que todo el mundo. El que es de la tierra pertenece a la tierra y habla de lo que pasa en la tierra, pero el que viene del cielo es el más importante de todos.32 Da testimonio de lo que ha visto y oído, pero nadie acepta su testimonio.33 El que acepta el testimonio de Jesús demuestra que Dios es verdadero.34 Dios envió a Jesús quien dice lo mismo que Dios dice porque Dios le da todo el poder de su Espíritu.35 El Padre ama al Hijo y le ha dado poder sobre todo.

36 El que cree en el Hijo tiene vida eterna. En cambio, el que lo rechaza nunca tendrá esa vida, sino que la ira de Dios permanece sobre él.

John 3

The New Birth

1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;2 this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

4 Nicodemus *said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?"5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

9 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can these things be?"10 Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and do not understand these things?11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony.12 If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?13 No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man.14 As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;15 so that whoever tbelieves will in Him have eternal life.

16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."

John's Last Testimony

22 After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He was spending time with them and baptizing.23 John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there; and people were coming and were being baptized-24 for John had not yet been thrown into prison.

25 Therefore there arose a discussion on the part of John's disciples with a Jew about purification.26 And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, behold, He is baptizing and all are coming to Him."27 John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven.28 You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent ahead of Him.'29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

31 "He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.32 What He has seen and heard, of that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.33 He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true.34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
