Johannes 4
1 Als der Herr erfuhr, die Pharisäer hätten vernommen, Jesus gewinne und taufe mehr Jünger als Johannes2 - obwohl Jesus nicht selbst taufte, sondern nur seine Jünger —,3 da verließ er Judäa und kehrte nach Galiläa zurück.t4 Er mußte aber durch Samaria ziehen.5 So kam er zu einer Stadt Samarias mit Namen Sychar,t die nahe bei dem Grundstück lag, das Jakob seinem Sohn Josef geschenkt hatte.t6 Dort war auch Jakobs Brunnen.t Weil nun Jesus von der Wanderung müde war, setzte er sich ohne weiteres an dem Brunnen nieder. Es war um die sechste Stunde.t7 Da kam eine Samariterin, um Wasser zu schöpfen. Jesus bat sie: "Gib mir zu trinken!"8 - Denn seine Jünger waren in die Stadt gegangen, um Lebensmittel einzukaufen.t —9 Die Samariterin antwortete ihm: "Wie kommst du als Jude dazu, mich, die Samariterin, um einen Trunk zu bitten?"t — Denn die Juden haben keinen Verkehr mit den Samaritern.t —10 Jesus erwiderte ihr: "Kenntest du die Gottesgabet und wüßtest du, wer es ist, der zu dir spricht: 'Gib mir zu trinken', — so hättest du ihn (um einen Trunk) gebeten, und er hätte dir Quellwassert gegeben."11 Da sprach das Weib zu ihm: "Herr,t du hast doch kein Schöpfgefäß, und dazu ist der Brunnen tief; woher willst du da das Quellwasser nehmen?t12 Kannst du denn etwas Besseres geben als unser Vater Jakob,t der uns diesen Brunnen geschenkt,t aus dem er selbst mit seinen Söhnen und seinen Herden getrunken hat?"13 Jesus antwortete: "Alle, die von dem Wasser dieses Brunnens trinken, wird nachher wieder dürsten.14 Wer aber von dem Wasser trinkt, das ich ihm geben will, den soll in Ewigkeit nicht dürsten. Sondern das Wasser, das ich ihm geben will, soll in ihm ein Brunnquell werden, der noch im ewigen Leben Wasser spendet."t15 Die Frau sprach zu ihm: "Herr, gib mir dieses Wasser,t damit ich keinen Durst mehr habe und zum Wasserschöpfen nicht mehr hierher zu kommen brauche!"16 Jesus erwiderte ihr: "Geh, rufe deinen Mann und komm dann wieder!"t17 Die Frau antwortete: "Ich habe keinen Mann." Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Du hast ganz recht, wenn du sagst: 'Ich habe keinen Mann.'18 Denn fünf Männer hast du schon gehabt;t doch der Mann, den du jetzt hast, ist nicht dein Ehegatte. Darin hast du die Wahrheit gesprochen."19 Die Frau entgegnete ihm: "Herr, ich sehe: du bist ein Prophet.t20 (Da habe ich nun eine Frage:) Unsere Vorfahren haben auf diesem Berg hiert angebetet; ihr aber behauptet, in Jerusalem sei die Stätte, wo man anbeten müsse."t21 Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Glaube mir: die Stunde kommt, wo man weder auf diesem Berg noch in Jerusalem den Vater anbeten wird.t22 Ihr betet an, was ihr nicht kennt.t Wir beten an, was wir kennen; denn das Heil geht von den Juden aus.t23 Aber die Stunde kommt und ist schon da,t wo die wahren Anbeter den Vater in Geist und Wahrheit anbeten.t Denn solche Anbeter will der Vater haben.24 Gott ist Geist, und seine Anbeter müssen ihn in Geist und Wahrheit anbeten."t25 Die Frau entgegnete ihm: "Ich weiß, daß der Messias kommt"t — dies Wort bedeutet: Gesalbtert —; "wenn der kommt, so wird er uns über alles belehren."26 Jesus sprach zu ihr: "Ich, der mit dir redet, ich bin der Messias!"27 In diesem Augenblick kamen seine Jünger zurück. Sie waren verwundert, daß er mit einem Weib redete.t doch keiner fragte ihn: "Was willst du von ihr?" oder: "Warum unterhältst du dich mit ihr?"28 Die Frau nun ließ ihren Wasserkrug stehen, kehrte in die Stadt zurück und sagte den Leuten:29 "Kommt schnell und seht einen Fremden, der mir all mein Tun aufgedeckt hat! Ist das vielleicht der Messias?"30 Da verließen sie die Stadt und machten sich auf den Weg zu Jesus.31 Inzwischent baten ihn die Jünger dringend: "Meister, iß doch!"32 Er antwortete ihnen: "Für mich gibt's eine Speise, die ihr nicht kennt."33 Da sprachen die Jünger zueinander: "Hat ihm denn einer zu essen gebracht?"34 Jesus erwiderte ihnen: "Meine Speiset ist, den Willen dessen zu tun, der mich gesandt hat, und sein Werk völlig auszurichten.35 Sagt ihr nicht: 'Es sind jetzt noch vier Monate bis zur Ernte?'t Nun, ich sage euch: Hebt eure Augen auf und schaut diese Felder an! Sie sind reif zur Ernte!t36 Wer diese Ernte einbringt, empfängt schon dadurch Belohnung, daß er Frucht fürs ewige Leben sammelt: so sollen sich der Sämann und der Schnitter miteinander freuen.37 Denn hiert trifft das Sprichwort zu: Der eine sät, der andere erntet.38 Ich habe euch gesandt, um dort zu ernten, wo ihr euch vorher nicht abgemüht. Andere haben sich gemüht, und ihr erntet die Früchte ihrer mühevollen Arbeit."t39 Viele aber von den Samaritern aus jener Stadt wurden schon deshalb an ihn gläubig,t weil die Frau versicherte: "Er hat mir all mein Tun aufgedeckt."40 Als nun die Samariter zu ihm kamen, baten sie ihn, bei ihnen Aufenthalt zu nehmen. Er blieb auch zwei Tage dort.41 Da kamen noch viel mehr zum Glauben durch seine Unterweisung,42 und sie sprachen zu der Frau: "Wir glauben nun nicht mehr allein auf deine Erzählung hin. Denn wir haben jetzt mit eigenen Ohren gehört und wissen: Dieser Mann ist wahrhaftig der Welterlöser."43 Nach Verlauf der beiden Taget zog Jesus von dort nach Galiläa weiter,44 obwohlt er selbst erklärt hatte, daß ein Prophet in seiner eigenen Heimat keine Anerkennung finde.t45 Als er aber nach Galiläa kam, nahmen ihn die Galiläer freundlich auf, weil sie in Jerusalem während des Festes gewesen waren und dort alle seine Taten gesehen hatten.46 Er kam dann wieder nach Kana in Galiläa, wo er das Wasser in Wein verwandelt hatte.47 Nun wohnte in Kapernaum ein königlicher Hofbeamter,t dessen Sohn an einer (schweren) Krankheit litt. Als dieser Mann erfuhr, Jesus sei aus Judäa nach Galiläa gekommen, da ging er zu ihmt und bat ihn, herzukommen und seinen Sohn zu heilen. Denn er lag im Sterben.48 Jesus aber sprach zu dem Mann: "Wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder seht, so glaubt ihr nicht."49 Der Beamte bat ihn: "Herr, komm doch, ehe mein Kind stirbt!"50 Jesus erwiderte ihm: "Geh nur heim, dein Sohn bleibt am Leben!" Der Mann glaubte diesem Wort, das Jesus zu ihm sprach, und ging weg.51 Er war noch auf dem Heimweg, als ihm seine Knechte entgegenkamen mit der Nachricht, daß sein Sohn am Leben sei.52 Da fragte er sie, in welcher Stunde sich sein Zustand gebessert habe. Sie antworteten ihm: "Gestern in der siebenten Stundet hat ihn das Fieber verlassen."53 Da erkannte der Vater, daß es genau die Stunde war, wo Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: "Dein Sohn bleibt am Leben!" Und er wurde mit seinem ganzen Haus gläubig.54 Dies ist das zweite Wunderzeichen, das Jesus in Galiläa nach seiner Rückkehr aus Judäa tat.t
John 4
1 When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John2 (although Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples),3 he left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.4 And he must needs pass through Samaria.5 So he cometh to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph:6 and Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.8 For his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food.9 The Samaritan woman therefore saith unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)10 Jesus answered and said unto unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou that living water?12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Every one that drinketh of this water shall thirst again:14 but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up unto eternal life.15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come all the way hither to draw.16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.17 The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:18 for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.22 Ye worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers.24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (he that is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.27 And upon this came his disciples; and they marvelled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saith to the people,29 Come, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: can this be the Christ?30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.31 In the mean while the disciples prayed him, saying, Rabbi, eat.32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not.33 The disciples therefore said one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white already unto harvest.36 He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.37 For herein is the saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye have not labored: others have labored, and ye are entered into their labor.39 And from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that ever I did.40 So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.41 And many more believed because of his word;42 and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.43 And after the two days he went forth from thence into Galilee.44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.45 So when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.46 He came therefore again unto Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.48 Jesus therefore said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spake unto him, and he went his way.51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, saying, that his son lived.52 So he inquired of them the hour when he began to amend. They said therefore unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.53 So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.54 This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judaea into Galilee.
