ヨナ書 2

二

1 　ヨナは魚の腹の中から、神様に祈りました。
2 　「神様。　神様は、苦しくてどうしようもない時に祈ると、答えてくださいました。　死の深みから叫び求めた時、聞いてくださいました。　3 神様は私を、大海の深みに投げ込みました。　激しくさかまく波をかぶって、深い水中に私は沈みました。　4 そのとき私は、『ああ神様。　神様は私を退け、海に投げ込みました。　もう二度と、神様の聖なる神殿を見ることはできません』と申しました。
5 　海中に沈み、もう少しで死ぬところでした。　水の中では、海草が頭にからみつきました。　6 私は海の底の底まで沈んだのです。助かる望みもなく、死の牢につながれてしまいました。　しかし神様は、ぽっかり開いた死の口から、私をすばやく助け出してくださいました。
7 　全く望みを失った時、もう一度、私は神様に思いを向けたのです。　聖なる神殿におられる神様に、真剣な祈りをささげました。　8 偽りの神々を拝んでいる者は、神様が与えようとしておられる恵みに、背を向けているのです。
9 　私は、神様以外のものを決して拝みません。　ああ、神様がしてくださったことに、どう感謝したらよいでしょう。　私は必ず約束を果たします。　私を救ってくださるのは、神様だけだからです。」
10 　そこで神様は、ヨナを海岸に吐き出すよう魚に命じ、そのとおりになりました。

Jonah 2

1 Then Jonah prayed unto Jehovah his God out of the fish’s belly.2 And he said, I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah, And he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I, And thou heardest my voice.3 For thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, And the flood was round about me; All thy waves and thy billows passed over me.4 And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; The deep was round about me; The weeds were wrapped about my head.6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed upon me for ever: Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah my God.7 When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah; And my prayer came in unto thee, into thy holy temple.8 They that regard lying vanities Forsake their own mercy.9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of Jehovah.10 And Jehovah spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
