Lover om brennoffer

1 Herren kalte på Moses og talte til ham fra sammenkomstens telt og sa: 2 Tal til Israels barn og si til dem: Når noen av dere vil bære fram for Herren et offer av buskapen, så kan dere ta offeret enten av storfeet eller av småfeet.

3 Er hans offer et brennoffer av storfeet, skal han ofre et hanndyr uten lyte. Han skal føre det fram til inngangen til sammenkomstens telt, for at han kan være til velbehag for Herrens åsyn. s4 Og han skal legge hånden på brennofferets hode, så vil Herren ha velbehag i det og la det bli til soning for ham. 5 Så skal han slakte den unge oksen for Herrens åsyn, og Arons sønner, prestene, skal bære blodet fram og stenke blodet rundt om på det alteret som står ved inngangen til sammenkomstens telt. 6 Så skal han flå brennofferet og dele det opp i sine stykker. 7 Og Arons sønner, prestene, skal gjøre opp ild på alteret og legge ved til rette på ilden. 8 Så skal Arons sønner, prestene, legge stykkene, hodet og fettet, til rette på veden over ilden på alteret. 9 Innvollene og føttene skal vaskes med vann, og så skal presten brenne det alt sammen på alteret. Det er et brennoffer, et ildoffer til velbehagelig duft for Herren.

10 Men hvis hans offer er et brennoffer av småfeet, av sauene eller geitene, så skal han ofre et hanndyr uten lyte. 11 Han skal slakte det på nordsiden av alteret for Herrens åsyn, og Arons sønner, prestene, skal stenke blodet rundt om på alteret. 12 Så skal han dele offerdyret opp i sine stykker og ta med hodet og fettet. Og presten skal legge dem til rette på veden over ilden på alteret. 13 Innvollene og føttene skal vaskes med vann. Så skal presten bære det alt sammen fram og brenne det på alteret. Det er et brennoffer, et ildoffer til velbehagelig duft for Herren.

14 Dersom hans offer til Herren er et brennoffer av fugler, så skal han ta sitt offer enten av turtelduer eller av dueunger. s15 Presten skal bære fuglen fram til alteret og vri hodet av den og brenne det på alteret. Blodet skal presses ut mot alterets vegg. 16 Han skal ta ut kråsen med det som er i den, og kaste den på askehaugen ved østsiden av alteret. 17 Deretter skal han flekke fuglen etter vingene, men uten å rive dem av. Så skal presten brenne den på alteret, på veden over ilden. Det er et brennoffer, et ildoffer til velbehagelig duft for Herren.

Introduction to the Sacrificial Regulations

1 Then the Lord called to Moses and spoke to himts from the Meeting Tent:s

2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘Whents someonet among you presents an offeringt to the Lord,t yout must present your offering from the domesticated animals, either from the herd or from the flock.ts

Burnt Offering Regulations: Animal from the Herd

3 “‘If his offering is a burnt offerings from the herd he must present it as a flawless male; he must present it at the entrancet of the Meeting Tent for itst acceptance before the Lord.4 He must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted for him to make atonementt on his behalf.5 Then the one presenting the offeringt must slaughter the bullt before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, must present the blood and splasht the blood against the sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.6 Next, the one presenting the offeringt must skin the burnt offering and cut it into parts,7 and the sons of Aaron, the priest,s must put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.8 Then the sons of Aaron, the priests, must arrange the parts with the head and the suetss on the wood that is in the fire on the altar.t

9 Finally, the one presenting the offeringt must wash its entrails and its legs in water and the priest must offer all of it up in smoke on the altart – it iss a burnt offering, a gifts of a soothing aroma to the Lord.

Animal from the Flock

10 “‘If his offering is from the flock for a burnt offeringt – from the sheep or the goats – he must present a flawless male,11 and must slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, will splash its blood against the altar’s sides.12 Next, the one presenting the offeringt must cut it into parts, with its head and its suet, and the priest must arrange them on the wood which is in the fire, on the altar.

13 Then the one presenting the offering must wash the entrails and the legs in water, and the priest must present all of it and offer it up in smoke on the altar – it is a burnt offering, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord.

From the Birds

14 “‘If his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering from the birds,t he must present his offering from the turtledoves or from the young pigeons.t15 The priest must present it at the altar, pinch offt its head and offer the headt up in smoke on the altar, and its blood must be drained out against the side of the altar.16 Then the priestt must remove its entrails by cutting off its tail feathers,t and throw themt to the east side of the altar into the place of fatty ashes,

17 and tear it open by its wings without dividing it into two parts.t Finally, the priest must offer it up in smoke on the altar on the wood which is in the fire – it is a burnt offering, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord.
