Levítico 1

El holocausto

1 El Señor llamó a Moisés y le habló desde la *Tienda de reunión. Le ordenó 2 que les dijera a los israelitas: «Cuando alguno de ustedes traiga una ofrenda al Señor, deberá presentar un animal de ganado vacuno u ovino.
3 »Si el animal que ofrece en *holocausto es de ganado vacuno, deberá presentar un macho sin defecto, a la entrada de la Tienda de reunión. Así será aceptable al Señor. 4 Pondrá su mano sobre la cabeza de la víctima, la cual le será aceptada en su lugar y le servirá de *propiciación. 5 Después degollará el novillo ante el Señor, y los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes, tomarán la sangre y la derramarán alrededor del altar que está a la entrada de la Tienda de reunión. 6 Luego desollará la víctima del holocausto y la cortará en trozos. 7 Los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes, harán fuego sobre el altar y le echarán leña; 8 después acomodarán los trozos sobre la leña encendida del altar, junto con la cabeza y el sebo. 9 Las entrañas y las patas se lavarán con agua, y el sacerdote lo quemará todo en el altar. Es un holocausto, una ofrenda presentada por fuego de aroma grato al Señor.
10 »Si alguien ofrece un holocausto de ganado ovino, sea de corderos o de cabras, deberá presentar un macho sin defecto. 11 Lo degollará ante el Señor, en el costado norte del altar, y los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes, derramarán la sangre alrededor del altar. 12 Luego lo cortará en trozos, los cuales el sacerdote acomodará sobre la leña encendida del altar, junto con la cabeza y el sebo. 13 Las entrañas y las patas se lavarán con agua, y el sacerdote lo tomará todo y lo quemará en el altar. Es un holocausto, una ofrenda presentada por fuego de aroma grato al Señor.
14 »Si alguien ofrece al Señor un holocausto de ave, deberá presentar una tórtola o un pichón de paloma. 15 El sacerdote llevará el ave al altar y le arrancará la cabeza, y luego la quemará en el altar. Después exprimirá la sangre en un costado del altar, 16 y le quitará también el buche y las entrañas, y los arrojará hacia el costado oriental del altar, donde se echa la ceniza. 17 Después la desgarrará por las alas, pero sin arrancárselas. Entonces el sacerdote la quemará en el altar, sobre la leña encendida. Es un holocausto, una ofrenda presentada por fuego de aroma grato al Señor.

Introduction to the Sacrificial Regulations

1 Then the Lord called to Moses and spoke to himts from the Meeting Tent:s

2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘Whents someonet among you presents an offeringt to the Lord,t yout must present your offering from the domesticated animals, either from the herd or from the flock.ts

Burnt Offering Regulations: Animal from the Herd

3 “‘If his offering is a burnt offerings from the herd he must present it as a flawless male; he must present it at the entrancet of the Meeting Tent for itst acceptance before the Lord.4 He must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted for him to make atonementt on his behalf.5 Then the one presenting the offeringt must slaughter the bullt before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, must present the blood and splasht the blood against the sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.6 Next, the one presenting the offeringt must skin the burnt offering and cut it into parts,7 and the sons of Aaron, the priest,s must put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire.8 Then the sons of Aaron, the priests, must arrange the parts with the head and the suetss on the wood that is in the fire on the altar.t

9 Finally, the one presenting the offeringt must wash its entrails and its legs in water and the priest must offer all of it up in smoke on the altart – it iss a burnt offering, a gifts of a soothing aroma to the Lord.

Animal from the Flock

10 “‘If his offering is from the flock for a burnt offeringt – from the sheep or the goats – he must present a flawless male,11 and must slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron, the priests, will splash its blood against the altar’s sides.12 Next, the one presenting the offeringt must cut it into parts, with its head and its suet, and the priest must arrange them on the wood which is in the fire, on the altar.

13 Then the one presenting the offering must wash the entrails and the legs in water, and the priest must present all of it and offer it up in smoke on the altar – it is a burnt offering, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord.

From the Birds

14 “‘If his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering from the birds,t he must present his offering from the turtledoves or from the young pigeons.t15 The priest must present it at the altar, pinch offt its head and offer the headt up in smoke on the altar, and its blood must be drained out against the side of the altar.16 Then the priestt must remove its entrails by cutting off its tail feathers,t and throw themt to the east side of the altar into the place of fatty ashes,

17 and tear it open by its wings without dividing it into two parts.t Finally, the priest must offer it up in smoke on the altar on the wood which is in the fire – it is a burnt offering, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord.
