Aron bærer fram sitt første offer

1 Den åttende dagen kalte Moses til seg Aron og hans sønner og Israels eldste. 2 Han sa til Aron: Ta deg en oksekalv til syndoffer og en vær til brennoffer, begge uten lyte, og led dem fram for Herrens åsyn. 3 Og du skal tale til Israels barn og si: Ta en geitebukk til syndoffer, og en kalv og et lam, begge årsgamle og uten lyte, til brennoffer, 4 og ta en okse og en vær til fredsoffer, for å ofre dem for Herrens åsyn, og et matoffer, tillaget med olje! For i dag vil Herren åpenbare seg for dere.

5 De tok det som Moses hadde befalt, og førte det fram foran sammenkomstens telt. Og hele menigheten kom og sto for Herrens åsyn. 6 Da sa Moses: Dette er det Herren har befalt dere å gjøre, så skal Herrens herlighet åpenbare seg for dere. 7 Så sa Moses til Aron: Gå fram til alteret og ofre ditt syndoffer og ditt brennoffer og gjør soning for deg og for folket. Ofre så folkets offer og gjør soning for dem, slik som Herren har befalt!

8 Og Aron trådte fram til alteret og slaktet den kalven som skulle være syndoffer for ham selv. 9 Arons sønner bar blodet til ham, og han dyppet fingeren sin i blodet og strøk det på alterhornene. Resten av blodet helte han ut ved alterets fot. 10 Men fettet og nyrene og den store leverlappen av syndofferet brente han på alteret, slik som Herren hadde befalt Moses. 11 Kjøttet og huden brente han opp med ild utenfor leiren. 12 Så slaktet han brennofferet. Arons sønner rakte ham blodet, og han stenket det rundt om på alteret. 13 Så rakte de ham brennofferet, stykke for stykke, og hodet, og han brente det på alteret. 14 Han vasket innvollene og føttene og brente dem sammen med brennofferet på alteret.

15 Så førte han fram folkets offer. Han tok bukken som skulle være syndoffer for folket, slaktet den og ofret den til et syndoffer, likesom det første offerdyret. 16 Så førte han brennofferet fram og ofret det, som det var foreskrevet. 17 Deretter bar han matofferet fram og tok en håndfull av det og brente på alteret, i tillegg til morgenbrennofferet. s18 Så slaktet han oksen og væren som skulle være folkets fredsoffer. Arons sønner rakte ham blodet, og han stenket det rundt om på alteret. 19 Men fettstykkene av oksen og væren, både fetthalen og fettet som dekket innvollene, og nyrene og den store leverlappen - 20 disse fettstykkene la de på bryststykkene, og han brente fettstykkene på alteret. 21 Men bryststykkene og det høyre låret svingte Aron for Herrens åsyn, slik som Moses hadde befalt. 22 Aron løftet sine hender over folket og velsignet dem. Så steg han ned, etter at han hadde ofret syndofferet og brennofferet og fredsofferet. s

23 Deretter gikk Moses og Aron inn i sammenkomstens telt. Og da de kom ut igjen, velsignet de folket. Da åpenbarte Herrens herlighet seg for hele folket. s24 Det gikk ild ut fra Herrens åsyn og fortærte brennofferet og fettstykkene på alteret. Og hele folket så det, og de ropte høyt av glede og falt ned på sitt ansikt. s

Leviticus 9

Inauguration of Tabernacle Worship

1 On the eighth days Moses summonedt Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel,2 and said to Aaron, “Take for yourself a bull calf for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both flawless, and present them before the Lord.3 Then tell the Israelites: ‘Take a male goatt for a sin offering and a calf and lamb, both a year old and flawless,t for a burnt offering,4 and an ox and a ram for peace offerings to sacrifice before the Lord, and a grain offering mixed with olive oil, for today the Lord is going to appeart to you.’”5 So they took what Moses had commanded to the front oft the Meeting Tent and the whole congregation presented them and stood before the Lord.6 Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to dot so that the glory of the Lord may appeart to you.”

7 Moses then said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and make your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement on behalf of yourself and on behalf of the people;t and also make the people’s offering and make atonement on behalf of them just as the Lord has commanded.”

The Sin Offering for the Priests

8 So Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the sin offering calf which was for himself.9 Then Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.10 The fat and the kidneys and the protruding lobe oft the liver from the sin offering he offered up in smoke on the altar just as the Lord had commanded Moses,

11 but the flesh and the hide he completely burned upt outside the camp.s

The Burnt Offering for the Priests

12 He then slaughtered the burnt offering, and his sonst handedt the blood to him and he splashedt it against the altar’s sides.13 The burnt offering itself they handedt to him by its parts, including the head,t and he offered them up in smoke on the altar,

14 and he washed the entrails and the legs and offered them up in smoke on top of the burnt offering on the altar.

The Offerings for the People

15 Then he presented the people’s offering. He took the sin offering male goat which was for the people, slaughtered it, and performed a decontamination rite with itt like the first one.s16 He then presented the burnt offering, and did it according to the standard regulation.t17 Next he presented the grain offering, filled his hand with some of it, and offered it up in smoke on the altar in addition to the morning burnt offering.s18 Then he slaughtered the ox and the ram – the peace offering sacrifices which were for the people – and Aaron’s sons handedt the blood to him and he splashed it against the altar’s sides.19 As for the fat parts from the ox and from the ramt (the fatty tail, the fat covering the entrails,t the kidneys, and the protruding lobe of the liver),20 theyt set those on the breasts and he offered the fat parts up in smoke on the altar.

21 Finally Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before the Lord just as Moses had commanded.
22 Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them and descended from making the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offering.23 Moses and Aaron then entered into the Meeting Tent. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people.

24 Then fire went out from the presence of the Lordt and consumed the burnt offering and the fat parts on the altar, and all the people saw it, so they shouted loudly and fell down with their faces to the ground.t
