Los sacerdotes inician su ministerio

1 Al octavo día Moisés llamó a Aarón y a sus hijos, y a los *ancianos de Israel. 2 A Aarón le dijo: «Toma un becerro para el sacrificio *expiatorio y un carnero para el *holocausto, ambos sin defecto, y preséntaselos al Señor. 3 Diles después a los israelitas: “Traigan un macho cabrío para el sacrificio expiatorio, y un becerro y un cordero para el holocausto, ambos de un año y sin defecto. 4 Traigan también un toro y un carnero para ofrecérselos al Señor como sacrificio de *comunión; y traigan una ofrenda de cereal amasada con aceite. El Señor se manifestará hoy ante ustedes.” »
5 Los israelitas llevaron hasta la *Tienda de reunión lo que Moisés había mandado; y toda la comunidad se acercó y se quedó de pie ante el Señor. 6 Y Moisés les dijo: «Esto es lo que el Señor les manda hacer, para que la gloria del Señor se manifieste ante ustedes.»
7 Después Moisés le dijo a Aarón: «Acércate al altar, y ofrece tu sacrificio expiatorio y tu holocausto. Haz *propiciación por ti y por el pueblo. Presenta la ofrenda por el pueblo y haz propiciación por ellos, tal como el Señor lo ha mandado.»
8 Aarón se acercó al altar y degolló el becerro como sacrificio expiatorio por sí mismo. 9 Sus hijos le llevaron la sangre, y él mojó el dedo en la sangre y la untó en los cuernos del altar, derramando luego la sangre al pie del altar. 10 Luego quemó en el altar la grasa, los riñones y el lóbulo del hígado del animal sacrificado, tal como el Señor se lo había mandado a Moisés. 11 La carne y la piel las quemó fuera del campamento.
12 Después Aarón degolló la víctima del holocausto. Sus hijos le llevaron la sangre, y él la derramó alrededor del altar. 13 También le fueron pasando los trozos del animal y la cabeza, y él lo quemó todo en el altar. 14 Lavó los intestinos y las patas, y luego quemó todo esto en el altar, junto con el holocausto.
15 Entonces Aarón presentó la ofrenda del pueblo, es decir, el macho cabrío del sacrificio expiatorio. Lo tomó y lo degolló, ofreciéndolo como sacrificio expiatorio, como hizo con el primero.
16 Luego presentó la víctima del holocausto, la cual sacrificó en la forma prescrita. 17 También presentó la ofrenda de cereal, y tomando un puñado lo quemó en el altar, además del holocausto de la mañana.
18 Después degolló el toro y el carnero como sacrificio de comunión por el pueblo. Sus hijos le llevaron la sangre, y él la derramó alrededor del altar. 19 Pero tomó la grasa del toro y del carnero, es decir, la cola, el sebo que recubre los intestinos, los riñones y el lóbulo del hígado, 20 y lo puso todo sobre el pecho de las víctimas para quemarlo en el altar. 21 Aarón meció ante el Señor el pecho y el muslo derecho de las víctimas. Fue una ofrenda mecida, tal como Moisés se lo había mandado.
22 Aarón levantó las manos hacia el pueblo, y los bendijo. Una vez que terminó de ofrecer el sacrificio expiatorio, el holocausto y el sacrificio de comunión, se retiró del altar.
23 Moisés y Aarón entraron en la Tienda de reunión. Al salir, bendijeron al pueblo, y la gloria del Señor se manifestó a todo el pueblo. 24 De la presencia del Señor salió un fuego, que consumió el holocausto y la grasa que estaban sobre el altar. Al ver esto, todo el pueblo prorrumpió en gritos de júbilo y cayó rostro en tierra.

Leviticus 9

Inauguration of Tabernacle Worship

1 On the eighth days Moses summonedt Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel,2 and said to Aaron, “Take for yourself a bull calf for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both flawless, and present them before the Lord.3 Then tell the Israelites: ‘Take a male goatt for a sin offering and a calf and lamb, both a year old and flawless,t for a burnt offering,4 and an ox and a ram for peace offerings to sacrifice before the Lord, and a grain offering mixed with olive oil, for today the Lord is going to appeart to you.’”5 So they took what Moses had commanded to the front oft the Meeting Tent and the whole congregation presented them and stood before the Lord.6 Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to dot so that the glory of the Lord may appeart to you.”

7 Moses then said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and make your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement on behalf of yourself and on behalf of the people;t and also make the people’s offering and make atonement on behalf of them just as the Lord has commanded.”

The Sin Offering for the Priests

8 So Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the sin offering calf which was for himself.9 Then Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.10 The fat and the kidneys and the protruding lobe oft the liver from the sin offering he offered up in smoke on the altar just as the Lord had commanded Moses,

11 but the flesh and the hide he completely burned upt outside the camp.s

The Burnt Offering for the Priests

12 He then slaughtered the burnt offering, and his sonst handedt the blood to him and he splashedt it against the altar’s sides.13 The burnt offering itself they handedt to him by its parts, including the head,t and he offered them up in smoke on the altar,

14 and he washed the entrails and the legs and offered them up in smoke on top of the burnt offering on the altar.

The Offerings for the People

15 Then he presented the people’s offering. He took the sin offering male goat which was for the people, slaughtered it, and performed a decontamination rite with itt like the first one.s16 He then presented the burnt offering, and did it according to the standard regulation.t17 Next he presented the grain offering, filled his hand with some of it, and offered it up in smoke on the altar in addition to the morning burnt offering.s18 Then he slaughtered the ox and the ram – the peace offering sacrifices which were for the people – and Aaron’s sons handedt the blood to him and he splashed it against the altar’s sides.19 As for the fat parts from the ox and from the ramt (the fatty tail, the fat covering the entrails,t the kidneys, and the protruding lobe of the liver),20 theyt set those on the breasts and he offered the fat parts up in smoke on the altar.

21 Finally Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before the Lord just as Moses had commanded.
22 Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them and descended from making the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offering.23 Moses and Aaron then entered into the Meeting Tent. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people.

24 Then fire went out from the presence of the Lordt and consumed the burnt offering and the fat parts on the altar, and all the people saw it, so they shouted loudly and fell down with their faces to the ground.t
