LUCAS 10

Jesús envía a setenta y dos discípulos

1 Después, Jesús eligió a setenta y dos discípulos, y los envió en grupos de dos en dos a los pueblos y lugares por donde él iba a pasar.

2 Jesús les dijo:

«Son muchos los que necesitan entrar en el reino de Dios, pero son muy pocos los que hay para anunciar las buenas noticias. Por eso, pídanle a Dios que envíe más seguidores míos, para que compartan las buenas noticias con toda esa gente.

3 Y ahora, vayan; pero tengan cuidado, porque yo los envío como quien manda corderos a una cueva de lobos.
4 »No lleven dinero, ni mochila ni zapatos, ni se detengan a saludar a nadie por el camino.5 Cuando lleguen a alguna casa, saluden a todos los que vivan allí, deseándoles que les vaya bien.6 Si la gente merece el bien, el deseo de ustedes se cumplirá; pero si no lo merece, no se cumplirá su deseo.

7 No anden de casa en casa. Quédense con una sola familia, y coman y beban lo que allí les den, porque el trabajador merece que le paguen.
8 »Si entran en un pueblo y los reciben bien, coman lo que les sirvan,9 sanen a los enfermos, y díganles que el reino de Dios ya está cerca.10 Pero si entran en un pueblo y no los reciben bien, salgan a la calle y grítenles:11 “No tenemos nada que ver con ustedes. Por eso, hasta el polvo de su pueblo lo sacudimos de nuestros pies. Pero sepan esto: ya está cerca el reino de Dios”.

12 Les aseguro que, en el día del juicio, Dios castigará más duramente a la gente de ese pueblo que a la de Sodoma.»

La gente que no cree

13 Jesús también dijo:

«Habitantes del pueblo de Corazín, ¡qué mal les va a ir a ustedes! ¡Y también les va a ir mal a ustedes, los que viven en el pueblo de Betsaida! Si los milagros que hice entre ustedes los hubiera hecho entre los que viven en las ciudades de Tiro y de Sidón, hace tiempo que ellos habrían cambiado su modo de vivir. Se habrían vestido de ropas ásperas y se habrían echado ceniza en la cabeza para mostrar su arrepentimiento.

14 Les aseguro que, en el día del juicio final, ustedes van a recibir un castigo mayor que el de ellos.

15 »Habitantes del pueblo de Cafarnaúm, ¿creen que van a ser bien recibidos en el cielo? No, sino que van a ser enviados a lo más profundo del infierno.»

16 Luego Jesús les dijo a sus discípulos: «Cualquiera que los escuche a ustedes, me escucha a mí. Cualquiera que los rechace, a mí me rechaza; y la persona que me rechaza, rechaza también a Dios, que fue quien me envió.»

Los setenta y dos discípulos regresan

17 Los setenta y dos discípulos que Jesús había enviado regresaron muy contentos, y le dijeron:

—¡Señor, hasta los demonios nos obedecen cuando los reprendemos en tu nombre!

18 Jesús les dijo:

—Yo vi que Satanás caía del cielo como un rayo.19 Yo les he dado poder para que ni las serpientes ni los escorpiones les hagan daño, y para que derroten a Satanás, su enemigo.

20 Sin embargo, no se alegren de que los malos espíritus los obedezcan. Alégrense más bien de que sus nombres estén escritos en el libro del cielo.

Jesús alaba a Dios

21 En ese mismo momento, el Espíritu Santo hizo que Jesús sintiera mucha alegría. Entonces Jesús dijo:

«Padre mío, que gobiernas el cielo y la tierra, te alabo porque has mostrado estas cosas a los niños y a los que son como ellos. En cambio, no se las mostraste a los que conocen mucho y son sabios, porque así lo has querido, Padre mío.»

22 Luego Jesús le dijo a la gente que estaba con él: «Mi Padre me ha entregado todo, y nadie me conoce mejor que él. Y yo, que soy su Hijo, conozco mejor que nadie a Dios, mi Padre, y elijo a las personas que lo conocerán como yo.»
23 Cuando Jesús se quedó a solas con sus discípulos, les dijo: «Dichosos ustedes, que pueden ver todo lo que sucede ahora.

24 A muchos profetas y reyes les habría gustado ver y oír lo que ustedes ven y oyen ahora, pero no pudieron.»

Un extranjero compasivo

25 Un maestro de la Ley se acercó para ver si Jesús podía responder a una pregunta difícil, y le dijo:

—Maestro, ¿qué debo hacer para tener la vida eterna?

26 Jesús le respondió:

—¿Sabes lo que dicen los libros de la Ley?

27 El maestro de la Ley respondió:

—“Ama a tu Dios con todo lo que piensas, con todo lo que vales y con todo lo que eres, y cada uno debe amar a su prójimo como se ama a sí mismo.”

28 —¡Muy bien! —respondió Jesús—. Haz todo eso y tendrás la vida eterna.

29 Pero el maestro de la Ley no quedó satisfecho con la respuesta de Jesús, así que insistió:

—¿Y quién es mi prójimo?

30 Entonces Jesús le puso este ejemplo:

«Un día, un hombre iba de Jerusalén a Jericó. En el camino lo asaltaron unos ladrones y, después de golpearlo, le robaron todo lo que llevaba y lo dejaron medio muerto.
31 »Por casualidad, por el mismo camino pasaba un sacerdote judío. Al ver a aquel hombre, el sacerdote se hizo a un lado y siguió su camino.

32 Luego pasó por ese lugar otro judío, que ayudaba en el culto del templo; cuando este otro vio al hombre, se hizo a un lado y siguió su camino.
33 »Pero también pasó por allí un extranjero, de la región de Samaria, y al ver a aquel hombre tirado en el suelo, le tuvo compasión.

34 Se acercó, sanó sus heridas con vino y aceite, y le puso vendas. Lo subió sobre su burro, lo llevó a un pequeño hotel y allí lo cuidó.

35 »Al día siguiente, el extranjero le dio dinero al encargado de la posada y le dijo: “Cuídeme bien a este hombre. Si el dinero que le dejo no alcanza para todos los gastos, a mi regreso yo le pagaré lo que falte.”»

36 Jesús terminó el relato y le dijo al maestro de la Ley:

—A ver, dime. De los tres hombres que pasaron por el camino, ¿cuál fue el prójimo del que fue maltratado por los ladrones?

37 —El que se preocupó por él y lo cuidó —contestó el maestro de la Ley.

Jesús entonces le dijo:

—Anda y haz tú lo mismo.

Marta y María

38 En su viaje hacia Jerusalén, Jesús y sus discípulos pasaron por un pueblo. Allí, una mujer llamada Marta recibió a Jesús en su casa.39 En la casa también estaba María, que era hermana de Marta. María se sentó junto a Jesús para escuchar atentamente lo que él decía.

40 Marta, en cambio, estaba ocupada en preparar la comida y en los quehaceres de la casa. Por eso, se acercó a Jesús y le dijo:

—Señor, ¿no te importa que mi hermana me deje sola, haciendo todo el trabajo de la casa? Dile que me ayude.

41-42 Pero Jesús le contestó:

—Marta, Marta, ¿por qué te preocupas por tantas cosas? Hay algo más importante. María lo ha elegido, y nadie se lo va a quitar.

Luke 10

1 Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come.2 And he said unto them, The harvest indeed is plenteous, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.3 Go your ways; behold, I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.4 Carry no purse, no wallet, no shoes; and salute no man on the way.5 And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace be to this house.6 And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again.7 And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:9 and heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.10 But into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets thereof and say,11 Even the dust from your city, that cleaveth to our feet, we wipe off against you: nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh.12 I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which were done in you, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment, than for you.15 And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt be brought down unto Hades.16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject unto us in thy name.18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan fallen as lightning from heaven.19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you.20 Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes: yea, Father; for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.22 All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth who the Son is, save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.23 And turning to the disciples, he said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:24 for I say unto you, that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not.25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and made trial of him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?26 And he said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?30 Jesus made answer and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho; and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.31 And by chance a certain priest was going down that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.32 And in like manner a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side.33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he was moved with compassion,34 and came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on them oil and wine; and he set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.35 And on the morrow he took out two shillings, and gave them to the host, and said, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, I, when I come back again, will repay thee.36 Which of these three, thinkest thou, proved neighbor unto him that fell among the robbers?37 And he said, He that showed mercy on him. And Jesus said unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.38 Now as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet, and heard his word.40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving; and she came up to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister did leave me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.41 But the Lord answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things:42 but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
