Jesus lærer læresveinane å be
(Matt 6,9–15; 7,7–11)
1 Ein gong var han ein stad og bad. Då han var ferdig, sa ein av læresveinane til han: «Herre, lær oss å be, slik Johannes lærte sine læresveinar.»
2 tt Han svara: «Når de bed, skal de seia:
Far!
Lat namnet ditt helgast.
Lat riket ditt koma.
3 Gjev oss kvar dag vårt daglege brød.
4 t t Tilgjev oss våre synder,
for vi òg tilgjev kvar den som står i skuld til oss.
Og lat oss ikkje koma i freisting.»
5 Så sa han til dei: «Set at ein av dykk har ein ven og går til han midt på natta og seier: ‘Kjære, lån meg tre brød! 6 Ein ven som er på reise, er komen til meg, og eg har ikkje noko å setja fram for han.’ 7 Trur de at han då svarar der inne frå: ‘Uroa meg ikkje! Døra er alt stengd, og borna og eg er i seng. Eg kan ikkje stå opp og gje deg noko.’
8 t Nei, seier eg dykk: Om han ikkje står opp og gjev han det for venskap skuld, så står han i det minste opp fordi han er så pågåande, og lèt han få alt han treng.
9 t Og eg seier dykk: Be, så skal de få. Leit, så skal de finna. Bank på, så skal det latast opp for dykk.
10 For den som bed, han får. Den som leitar, han finn. Og den som bankar på, skal det latast opp for.
11 t Finst det ein far mellom dykk som gjev son sin ein orm når han bed om fisk, 12 eller gjev han ein skorpion når han bed om egg?
13 t Når då de som er vonde, veit å gje borna dykkar gode gåver, kor mykje meir skal ikkje då Far i himmelen gje Den heilage ande til dei som bed han!»Jesu makt over vonde ånder
(Matt 12,22–30.43–45; Mark 3,22–27)
14 Ein gong dreiv han ut ei vond ånd som var stum. Og då den vonde ånda hadde fare ut, tala han som hadde vore stum. Folket undra seg. 15 tt Men nokre av dei sa: «Det er ved hjelp av Beelsebul, herskaren over dei vonde åndene, at han driv dei vonde åndene ut.» 16 t Andre ville setja han på prøve og kravde eit teikn frå himmelen av han.
17 Men Jesus visste kva dei tenkte, og sa til dei:
«Kvart rike som kjem i strid med seg sjølv, blir lagt øyde, og hus på hus rasar saman. 18 Er no Satan komen i strid med seg sjølv, korleis kan då riket hans bli ståande? De seier då at det er ved Beelsebul eg driv ut dei vonde åndene. 19 Men er det ved Beelsebul eg driv ut dei vonde åndene, kven er det då dykkar eigne folk driv ut ånder ved? Difor skal dei dømma dykk.
20 Men er det med Guds finger eg driv ut dei vonde åndene, ja, då har Guds rike nådd fram til dykk.
21 t Når den sterke med våpen i hand vaktar garden sin, får det han eig, vera i fred. 22 t Men kjem det ein som er sterkare og vinn over han, då tek denne mannen våpna som den sterke sette si lit til, og deler ut byttet.
23 t Den som ikkje er med meg, er imot meg. Og den som ikkje samlar med meg, han spreier.
24 Når ei urein ånd fer ut av eit menneske, flakkar ho over tørre vidder og leitar etter ein kvilestad, men finn ingen. Då seier ho: ‘Eg vil fara attende til huset mitt, som eg flytte ifrå.’ 25 Når ho kjem att, finn ho det feia og pynta.
26 t Då fer ho av stad og får med seg sju andre ånder som er verre enn ho sjølv, og dei flytter inn og slår seg til der. Og det siste blir verre for dette mennesket enn det første.»
27 t t Då han sa dette, var det ei kvinne i folkehopen som ropa: «Sælt er det morsliv som bar deg, og brysta som du dia.»
28 t Men Jesus svara: «Sei heller: ‘Sæle er dei som høyrer Guds ord og tek vare på det.’»Ei vond ætt krev teikn
(Matt 12,38–42)
29 Då no folket flokka seg om han, tok han atter til orde:
«Denne slekta er ei vond slekt. Ho krev teikn, men ho skal ikkje få noko anna teikn enn Jona-teiknet. 30 For slik Jona vart eit teikn for folket i Ninive, slik skal Menneskesonen bli det for denne slekta. 31 t Dronninga frå landet i sør skal stå fram ved dommen saman med mennene i denne slekta og dømma dei. For ho kom heilt frå ytste enden av jorda og ville høyra Salomos visdom. Og her er meir enn Salomo!
32 t Folk frå Ninive skal stå fram ved dommen saman med denne slekta og dømma henne. For dei vende om då Jona forkynte bodskapen sin. Og her er meir enn Jona!Lampa og auget
(Matt 5,15; 6,22–23)
33 t Ingen tenner ei oljelampe og set henne i kjellaren eller under eit kar. Nei, han set lampa på haldaren, så dei som kjem inn, kan sjå lyset.
34 t Auget er kroppens lampe. Når auget ditt er friskt, er det fordi kroppen er fylt av lys. Men er auget ditt sjukt, er det fordi det er mørkt i kroppen. 35 Sjå då til at lyset i deg ikkje er mørker!
36 Er no alt i kroppen din lys og ingen del av han mørk, då blir alt lyst, som når ei lampe lyser på deg med strålane sine.»Mot dei skriftlærde og farisearane
(Matt 23,1–36)
37 Då han hadde tala, spurde ein farisear om han ville eta heime hos han. Og Jesus gjekk inn og tok plass ved bordet. 38 t Farisearen undra seg då han såg at Jesus ikkje helte vatn over hendene før måltidet.
39 Men Herren sa til han:
«Ja, de farisearar, de reingjer utsida av skåler og fat, men på innsida er de griske og fulle av vondskap. 40 Uvituge menneske! Han som har skapt det som er utvendig, har ikkje han skapt det som er innvendig òg?
41 tt Gjev heller det de har i skålene og fata, som gåve til dei fattige. Då blir alt reint for dykk.
42 t t Men ve dykk, farisearar! De gjev tiend av mynte, vinrute og alle slags grønsaker, men bryr dykk ikkje om rettferd og kjærleik til Gud. Det eine skulle gjerast og det andre ikkje vera ugjort.
43 t Ve dykk, farisearar! De elskar å sitja fremst i synagogane og vil gjerne at folk skal helsa dykk på torget.
44 t Ve dykk! De liknar graver som ikkje lenger er synlege; folk går på dei og ensar det ikkje.»
45 Då tok ein av dei lovkunnige ordet og sa: «Meister, når du seier slikt, krenkjer du oss òg.»
46 Men Jesus svara: «Ve dykk, de lovkunnige òg! De lesser på folk bører som ikkje er til å bera, men sjølve rører de dei ikkje med ein finger. 47 Ve dykk! De byggjer gravminne over profetane, dei som fedrane dykkar slo i hel. 48 Slik er de vitne om det fedrane dykkar gjorde, og samtykkjer i det. For dei slo profetane i hel, og de byggjer gravminne. 49 tt Difor har òg Guds visdom sagt: Eg vil senda profetar og apostlar til dei; somme skal dei slå i hel, andre skal dei forfølgja. 50 Difor skal denne slekta få svara for blodet frå alle profetane, det som har runne frå verda vart grunnlagd, 51 tt frå drapet på Abel til drapet på Sakarja, han som vart drepen mellom altaret og tempelet. Ja, seier eg dykk, denne slekta skal svara for det.
52 Ve dykk lovkunnige! De har teke bort nøkkelen til kunnskapen. Sjølve gjekk de ikkje inn, og dei som ville gå inn, har de hindra.»
53 Då Jesus gjekk ut derifrå, var dei skriftlærde og farisearane rasande og trengde seg inn på han med mange slags spørsmål. 54 t Dei vakta på han og prøvde å få han til å seia noko som dei kunne klaga han for.
LUKE 11
Prayer
(Matthew 6.9-13; 7.7-11)
1 When Jesus had finished praying, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his followers to pray.”
2 So Jesus told them, “Pray in this way:
‘Father, help us
to honor your name.
Come and set up
your kingdom.
3 Give us each day
the food we need.t
4 Forgive our sins,
as we forgive everyone
who has done wrong to us.
And keep us
from being tempted.’ ”
5 Then Jesus went on to say:
Suppose one of you goes to a friend in the middle of the night and says, “Let me borrow three loaves of bread. 6 A friend of mine has dropped in, and I don't have a thing for him to eat.”
7 And suppose your friend answers, “Don't bother me! The door is bolted, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up to give you something.”
8 He may not get up and give you the bread, just because you are his friend. But he will get up and give you as much as you need, simply because you are not ashamed to keep on asking.
9 So I tell you to ask and you will receive, search and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you. 10 Everyone who asks will receive, everyone who searches will find, and the door will be opened for everyone who knocks. 11 Which one of you fathers would give your hungry child a snake if the child asked for a fish? 12 Which one of you would give your child a scorpion if the child asked for an egg?
13 As bad as you are, you still know how to give good gifts to your children. But your heavenly Father is even more ready to give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks.Jesus and the Ruler //of Demons
(Matthew 12.22-30; Mark 3.20-27)
14 Jesus forced a demon out of a man who could not talk. And after the demon had gone out, the man started speaking, and the crowds were amazed.
15 t But some people said, “He forces out demons by the power of Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons!”
16 t Others wanted to put Jesus to the test. So they asked him to show them a sign from God.
17 Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he said:
A kingdom where people fight each other will end up in ruin. And a family that fights will break up. 18 If Satan fights against himself, how can his kingdom last? Yet you say that I force out demons by the power of Beelzebul. 19 If I use his power to force out demons, whose power do your own followers use to force them out? They are the ones who will judge you.
20 But if I use God's power to force out demons, it proves that God's kingdom has already come to you.
21 When a strong man arms himself and guards his home, everything he owns is safe. 22 But if a stronger man comes and defeats him, he will carry off the weapons in which the strong man trusted. Then he will divide with others what he has taken.
23 t If you are not on my side, you are against me. If you don't gather in the crop with me, you scatter it.Return of an Evil Spirit
(Matthew 12.43-45)
24 When an evil spirit leaves a person, it travels through the desert, looking for a place to rest. But when it doesn't find a place, it says, “I will go back to the home I left.” 25 When it gets there and finds the place clean and fixed up,
26 it goes off and finds seven other evil spirits even worse than itself. They all come and make their home there, and that person ends up in worse shape than before.Being Really Blessed
27 While Jesus was still talking, a woman in the crowd spoke up, “The woman who gave birth to you and nursed you is blessed!”
28 Jesus replied, “That's true, but the people who are really blessed are the ones who hear and obey God's message!”tA Sign from God
(Matthew 12.38-42; Mark 8.12)
29 t As crowds were gathering around Jesus, he said:
You people of today are evil! You keep looking for a sign from God. But what happened to Jonaht is the only sign you will be given. 30 t Just as Jonah was a sign to the people of Nineveh, the Son of Man will be a sign to the people of today. 31 t When the judgment comes, the Queen of the Southt will stand there with you and condemn you. She traveled a long way to hear Solomon's wisdom, and yet here is something far greater than Solomon.
32 t The people of Nineveh will also stand there with you and condemn you. They turned to God when Jonah preached, and yet here is something far greater than Jonah.Light
(Matthew 5.15; 6.22,23)
33 t No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a clay pot. A lamp is put on a lampstand, so everyone who comes into the house can see the light. 34 Your eyes are the lamp for your body. When your eyes are good, you have all the light you need. But when your eyes are bad, everything is dark. 35 So be sure your light isn't darkness.
36 If you have light, and nothing is dark, then light will be everywhere, as when a lamp shines brightly on you.Jesus Condemns the Pharisees //and Teachers of the Law of Moses
(Matthew 23.1-36; Mark 12.38-40; Luke 20.45-47)
37 When Jesus finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him home for a meal. Jesus went and sat down to eat.t 38 The Pharisee was surprised that he did not wash his handst before eating.
39 So the Lord said to him:
You Pharisees clean the outside of cups and dishes, but on the inside you are greedy and evil. 40 You fools! Didn't God make both the outside and the inside?t
41 If you would only give what you have to the poor, everything you do would please God.
42 t You Pharisees are in for trouble! You give God a tenth of the spices from your gardens, such as mint and rue. But you cheat people, and you don't love God. You should be fair and kind to others and still give a tenth to God.
43 You Pharisees are in for trouble! You love the front seats in the synagogues, and you like to be greeted with honor in the market.
44 But you are in for trouble! You are like unmarked gravest that people walk on without even knowing it.
45 A teacher of the Law of Moses spoke up, “Teacher, you said cruel things about us.”
46 Jesus replied:
You teachers are also in for trouble! You load people down with heavy burdens, but you won't lift a finger to help them carry the loads. 47 Yes, you are really in for trouble. You build monuments to honor the prophets your own people murdered long ago.
48 You must think that was the right thing for your people to do, or else you would not have built monuments for the prophets they murdered.
49 Because of your evil deeds, the Wisdom of God said, “I will send prophets and apostles to you. But you will murder some and mistreat others.” 50 You people living today will be punished for all the prophets who have been murdered since the beginning of the world.
51 t This includes every prophet from the time of Abel to the time of Zechariah, t who was murdered between the altar and the temple. You people will certainly be punished for all of this.
52 You teachers of the Law of Moses are really in for trouble! You carry the keys to the door of knowledge about God. But you never go in, and you keep others from going in.
53 Jesus was about to leave, but the teachers and the Pharisees wanted to get even with him. They tried to make him say what he thought about other things, 54 so they could catch him saying something wrong.
