LUCAS 11

Jesús enseña a orar

1 Un día, Jesús fue a cierto lugar para orar. Cuando terminó, uno de sus discípulos se acercó y le pidió:

—Señor, enséñanos a orar, así como Juan el Bautista enseñó a sus seguidores.

2 Jesús les dijo:

—Cuando ustedes oren, digan:

“Padre, que todos reconozcan
que tú eres el verdadero Dios.

”Ven y sé nuestro único rey.

3 ”Danos la comida
que hoy necesitamos.

4 ”Perdona nuestros pecados,
como también nosotros perdonamos
a todos los que nos hacen mal.

”Y cuando vengan las pruebas,
no permitas que ellas
nos aparten de ti.”

5 También les dijo:

«Supongamos que, a medianoche, uno de ustedes va a la casa de un amigo y le dice: “Vecino, préstame por favor tres panes.6 Un amigo mío, que está de viaje, ha llegado y va a quedarse en mi casa; ¡no tengo nada para darle de comer!”7 Supongamos también que el vecino le responda así: “¡No me molestes! La puerta ya está cerrada con llave, y mi familia y yo estamos acostados. No puedo levantarme a darte los panes.”

8 Si el otro siguiera insistiendo, de seguro el vecino le daría lo que necesitara, no tanto porque aquél fuera su amigo, sino para no ser avergonzado ante el pueblo.
9 »Por eso les digo esto: pidan a Dios y él les dará, hablen con Dios y encontrarán lo que buscan, llámenlo y él los atenderá.

10 Porque el que confía en Dios recibe lo que pide, encuentra lo que busca y, si llama, es atendido.
11 »¿Alguno de ustedes le daría a su hijo una serpiente si él le pidiera un pescado?12 ¿O le daría un escorpión si le pidiera un huevo?

13 Si ustedes, que son malos, saben dar cosas buenas a sus hijos, con mayor razón Dios, su Padre que está en el cielo, dará el Espíritu Santo a quienes se lo pidan.»

Jesús y el jefe de los demonios

14 Jesús expulsó a un demonio que había dejado mudo a un hombre. Cuando el demonio salió, el hombre empezó a hablar.
La gente estaba asombrada por lo que hizo Jesús,

15 pero algunas personas dijeron: «Jesús libera de los demonios a la gente porque Beelzebú, el jefe de los demonios, le da poder para hacerlo.»
16 Otros querían ponerle una trampa a Jesús. Por eso le pidieron un milagro que demostrara que había sido enviado por Dios.

17 Jesús se dio cuenta de lo que pensaban y les dijo:

«Si los habitantes de un país se pelean entre ellos, el país se destruirá. Si los miembros de una familia se pelean entre sí, la familia también se destruirá.18 Y si Satanás lucha contra sí mismo, destruirá su propio reino. Ustedes dicen que yo expulso a los demonios por el poder de Satanás.19 Si eso fuera verdad, entonces ¿quién les da poder a los discípulos de ustedes para echar fuera demonios? Si ustedes me responden que Dios les da ese poder, eso demuestra que están equivocados.

20 Y si yo echo fuera a los demonios con el poder de Dios, eso demuestra que el reino de Dios ya está aquí.
21 »Es muy difícil robar en la casa de un hombre fuerte y bien armado.

22 Pero si un hombre más fuerte que él lo vence, le quitará las armas, le robará todo y lo repartirá entre sus amigos.

23 »Si ustedes no están de acuerdo con lo que hago, entonces están contra mí. Si no me ayudan a traer a otros para que me sigan, es como si los estuvieran ahuyentando.

El espíritu malo que regresa

24 »Cuando un espíritu malo sale de una persona, viaja por el desierto buscando dónde descansar. Al no encontrar ningún lugar, dice: “Mejor regresaré a mi antigua casa, y me meteré de nuevo en ella.”25 Cuando regresa, la encuentra limpia y ordenada.

26 Entonces va y busca a otros siete espíritus peores que él, y todos se meten dentro de aquella persona y se quedan a vivir allí. ¡Y esa pobre persona termina peor que cuando sólo tenía un espíritu malo!»

¿Para quién es la bendición?

27 Mientras Jesús hablaba, llegó una mujer y le gritó:

—¡Dichosa la mujer que te dio a luz y te amamantó!

28 Pero Jesús le respondió:

—¡Dichosa más bien la gente que escucha el mensaje de Dios, y lo obedece!

Una señal milagrosa

29 Mucha gente se acercó para escuchar a Jesús. Entonces él les dijo:

«Ustedes me piden como prueba una señal, pero son malos y no confían en Dios. La única prueba que les daré será lo que le pasó a Jonás.

30 Así como él fue señal para los habitantes de la ciudad de Nínive, así yo, el Hijo del hombre, seré una señal para la gente de este tiempo.

31 »La reina del Sur t se levantará en el día del juicio, y hablará contra ustedes para que Dios los castigue. Ella vino desde muy lejos para escuchar las sabias enseñanzas del rey Salomón, ¡y ustedes no quieren escuchar mis enseñanzas, aunque soy más importante que Salomón!

32 »En el juicio final, la gente de la ciudad de Nínive también se levantará, y hablará contra ustedes. Porque esa gente sí cambió de vida cuando oyó el mensaje que le anunció Jonás. ¡Pero ustedes oyen mi mensaje y no cambian, a pesar de que soy más importante que él!»
Jesús también les dijo:

La luz del cuerpo

33 «Nadie enciende una lámpara para esconderla, o para ponerla debajo de un cajón. Todo lo contrario: se pone en un lugar alto, para que alumbre a todos los que entran en la casa.34 Los ojos de una persona son como una lámpara que alumbra su cuerpo. Por eso, si miran con ojos sinceros y amables, la luz entrará en su vida. Pero si sus ojos son envidiosos y orgullosos, vivirán en completa oscuridad.35 Así que, tengan cuidado, no dejen que se apague la luz de su vida.

36 Si todo su cuerpo está iluminado, y no hay en él ninguna parte oscura, entonces la vida de ustedes alumbrará en todos lados, como cuando una lámpara los ilumina con su luz.»

¡Qué mal les va a ir!

37 Cuando Jesús terminó de hablar, un fariseo lo invitó a comer en su casa. Jesús fue y se sentó a la mesa. t38 El fariseo se sorprendió mucho al ver que Jesús no se había lavado las manos antes de comer.

39 Pero Jesús le dijo:

—Ustedes los fariseos se lavan por fuera, pero por dentro son malos, no ayudan a nadie y roban a la gente.40 ¡Tontos! Dios hizo las cosas de afuera y también las de adentro.

41 La mejor forma de estar completamente limpios es compartir lo que uno tiene con los pobres.

42 »¡Qué mal les va a ir! Ustedes se preocupan por dar a Dios, como ofrenda, la décima parte de las legumbres, de la menta y de la ruda que cosechan en sus terrenos. Pero no lo aman ni son justos con los demás. Deben dar a Dios la décima parte de todo, pero sin dejar de amarlo y sin dejar de ser justos.

43 »¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes, los fariseos! Cuando van a la sinagoga, les encanta que los traten como si fueran las personas más importantes. Les gusta que en el mercado la gente los salude con gran respeto.

44 »¡Qué mal les va a ir! Porque ustedes son como tumbas ocultas, t que la gente pisa sin saberlo.

45 Entonces, un maestro de la Ley le dijo a Jesús:

—Maestro, todo esto que dices contra los fariseos, nos ofende también a nosotros.

46 Jesús le dijo:

—¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes también! Porque imponen mandamientos muy difíciles de cumplir, pero no hacen ni el más mínimo esfuerzo por cumplirlos.
47 »¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes, que construyen monumentos para recordar a los profetas que sus mismos antepasados mataron!

48 Así ustedes están aprobando lo que hicieron sus antepasados: ellos mataron a los profetas, y ustedes construyen sus monumentos.
49 »Por eso Dios ha dicho sabiamente acerca de ustedes: “Yo les enviaré profetas y apóstoles, pero ustedes matarán a algunos de ellos, y a otros los perseguirán por todas las ciudades.”50 Así que ustedes se han hecho culpables de la muerte de todos los profetas del mundo,

51 comenzando por la muerte de Abel y terminando por la muerte del profeta Zacarías, a quien mataron entre el templo y el altar de los sacrificios. Les aseguro que todos ustedes serán castigados por esto.

52 »¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes, los maestros de la Ley! Porque saben muy bien lo que significa conocer a Dios, pero no hacen nada por conocerlo, ni dejan que otros lo conozcan.»

53 Cuando Jesús salió de esa casa, los maestros de la Ley y los fariseos comenzaron a seguirlo, y a hacerle muchas preguntas,

54 aunque en realidad le estaban poniendo una trampa, para ver si decía algo malo y así poder atraparlo.

Luke 11

1 And it came to pass, as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples.2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Father, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.3 Give us day by day our daily bread.4 And forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation.5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves;6 for a friend of mine is come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him;7 and he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee?8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needeth.9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.11 And of which of you that is a father shall his son ask a loaf, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he for a fish give him a serpent?12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?14 And he was casting out a demon that was dumb. And it came to pass, when the demon was gone out, the dumb man spake; and the multitudes marvelled.15 But some of them said, By Beelzebub the prince of the demons casteth he out demons.16 And others, trying him, sought of him a sign from heaven.17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.18 And if Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub.19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.20 But if I by the finger of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.21 When the strong man fully armed guardeth his own court, his goods are in peace:22 but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him his whole armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.23 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.24 The unclean spirit when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and finding none, he saith, I will turn back unto my house whence I came out.25 And when he is come, he findeth it swept and garnished.26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more evil than himself; and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first.27 And it came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck.28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.29 And when the multitudes were gathering together unto him, he began to say, This generation is an evil generation: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah.30 For even as Jonah became a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.32 The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.33 No man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light.34 The lamp of thy body is thine eye: when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when it is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.35 Look therefore whether the light that is in thee be not darkness.36 If therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining doth give thee light.37 Now as he spake, a Pharisee asketh him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first bathed himself before dinner.39 And the Lord said unto him, Now ye the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.40 Ye foolish ones, did not he that made the outside make the inside also?41 But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, all things are clean unto you.42 But woe unto you Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God: but these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.43 Woe unto you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the marketplaces.44 Woe unto you! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men that walk over them know it not.45 And one of the lawyers answering saith unto him, Teacher, in saying this thou reproachest us also.46 And he said, Woe unto you lawyers also! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.47 Woe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.48 So ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their tombs.49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they shall kill and persecute;50 that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;51 from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary: yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.52 Woe unto you lawyers! for ye took away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.53 And when he was come out from thence, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press upon him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things;54 laying wait for him, to catch something out of his mouth.
