ルカによる福音書 12

一二

1 　そのうちに、群衆の数はますますふくれ上がり、押し合いへし合いの有様です。　イエスはまず、弟子たちに警告なさいました。
「何よりも、パリサイ人の偽善ぶりに注意しなさい。　ほんとうは悪いことをたくらんでいるのに善人ぶる者たちのやり方にごまかされてはいけません。　2 だが、そういう偽善は、いつまでも隠しおおせるものではありません。　やがて、パン生地の中のイースト菌のように、ふくれ始め、だれの目にもはっきりします。　3 暗やみにまぎれて言ったことがみな、明るみで聞かれ、奥の部屋でささやいたことが、屋上から大声で宣伝されるのです。
4 　親しい友よ。　体を殺しても、たましいには指一本ふれることができない者たちを恐れてはいけません。　5 ほんとうに恐れなければならない相手を教えましょう。　殺したあとで、地獄に投げ込む力を持っておられる神を恐れなさい。　神こそ、ほんとうに恐れなければならないお方なのです。
6 　雀五羽はいったいいくらですか。　たったの百円ではありませんか。　こんな雀一羽でさえ、神はお見捨てにならないのです。　7 それどころか、あなたがたの髪の毛の本数さえご存じなのです。　恐れることはありません。　あなたがたは、たくさんの雀より、はるかに価値があるのですから。
8 　次のことをはっきりさせておきましょう。　この地上で、わたしを友とはっきり認めるなら、メシヤ（救い主）のわたしも、神の使いの前で、確かにわたしの友だと認めます。　9 だが、もし人前で、わたしを知らないと言うなら、わたしも神の使いの前で、こんな人は見覚えもないと言います。　10 それでも、わたしに逆らうぐらいなら、何とか赦されます。　だが、聖霊に言い逆らう者は絶対に赦されないのです。
11 　裁判を受けるために、役人や会堂の権力者たちの前に引き出されても、どう釈明しようかなどと、くよくよ心配してはいけません。　12 聖霊が、時にかなったことばを教えてくださるからです。」
13 　その時、群衆の中から一人の男が叫びました。　「先生ーっ！　どうぞ兄に、父の遺産を分けてくれるよう言ってください。」
14 　「はて、だれがわたしをそんなことの裁判官にしたのですか。」　15 続けてイエスは群衆に言われました。　「貪欲には、くれぐれも注意しなさい。　どんな物持ちでも、人のいのちは財産とは無関係なのですから。」
16 　そこで、たとえ話を一つなさいました。
「ある金持ちが、良い作物のとれる肥えた畑を持っていました。　17 倉はいっぱいで、収穫物を全部納めきれないほどです。　あれこれ考えたあげく、うまいことを思いつきました。　18 『こうすりゃいいんだ。　あの倉を取りこわして、もっと大きいのを建てる。　そうすりゃあ、作物を全部納められるさ。』　19 ひとり悦に入った金持ちは、ふんぞり返って、われとわが身に言い聞かせたものです。　『もう何も心配はいらないぞ。　これから先何年分もの食料がたっぷりあるんだ。　のんびり、楽しくやろう。　さあ、酒だ、女だ、歌だっ！』
20 　しかし神は、こう言われました。　『愚か者よ！　あなたのいのちは、今夜にもなくなるのです。　そうしたら、ここにある物は、いったいだれのものになるのですか。』
21 　いいですか。　この地上でいくらお金をため込んでも、天国に財産を持っていない者はみな、愚か者なのです。」
22 　それから、また弟子たちのほうを向き、先をお続けになりました。
「ですから、言っておきましょう。　食べ物は十分か、着る物はどうか、といったことでいちいち気を使うのはやめなさい。　23 人のいのちは、食べ物や着る物よりどれだけ価値があるか知れないのです。　24 からすを見なさい。　種もまかず、刈り入れもせず、倉を持ってるわけでもありません。　それでもゆうゆうと構えていられるのは、神が養ってくださるからです。　神にしてみれば、からすなどより、あなたがたのほうが、よっぽど大切なのです。
25 　それに、くよくよしたところで、どうにもなりません。　心配すれば、寿命が一日でも延びるのですか？　26 こんな小さなことさえできない者が、もっと大きなことを心配したところで何になるでしょう。
27 　ゆりの花を見なさい。　別に働いているわけでもないし、紡いだり、織ったりするわけでもありません。　だが全盛時代のソロモンでさえ、この花ほど着飾ってはいませんでした。　28 今日は咲き誇っていても、明日はしぼんでしまう花でさえ、神はこのように装ってくださるのです。　そうだとしたら、疑い深い人たちよ、どうして、神がちゃんと着物を用意してくださるとは考えないのですか。　29 何を食べようか、何を飲もうかと食事の心配をするのはやめなさい。　神が用意してくださるのに、思いわずらってはいけません。　30 人はだれでも毎日のパンのためにあくせく働きます。　天の父が、必要なものはすべてご存じだというのに......。　31 神の国を第一に考えるなら、神は必要なものを毎日与えてくださるのです。
32 　たとい少数派でも恐れることはありません。　神は喜んで、あなたがたを神の国に導いてくださるのです。　33 持ち物を売り払って、貧しい人たちに分けてあげなさい。　そうすれば、天にある財布はふくらんでふくらんで、はち切れそうになること間違いありません。　ところが、この財布は破れもしなければ、穴があくこともないから、あなたがたの財産がなくなることは絶対にありません。　どろぼうに盗まれることも、虫に食われる心配もありません。　34 宝のある所に、心も思いも釘づけになるものだからです。
35 　きちんと身じたくを整え、あかりをともしていなさい。　36 主人が結婚披露宴から戻るのを待っている人のように。　こうしていれば、主人がノックすると同時に、戸を開けて迎えることができます。　37 そのように忠実な姿を見られる人は、ほんとうに幸せ者です。　主人は、感心な者だと思い、食卓で、反対に自分のほうから給仕してくれるでしょう。　38 主人の帰りは夜の九時になるか、真夜中になるか、かいもくわかりません。　しかし、いつ帰ってもいいように準備のできている人は、ほんとうに幸せ者です。
39 　どろぼうがいつ入るかわかっていれば、家人は、てぐすね引いて待ちかまえています。　同様に、主人の帰りが何時ごろか、はっきりわかっていれば、準備をして待つのはあたりまえです。　40 だから、いつでも用意していなさい。　メシヤのわたしは、思いがけない時に来るのです。」
41 　ペテロが、いぶかしげに尋ねました。　「主よ。　今の......お話は、私たちにだけ......話されたのですか。　それとも......、ここにいるみんなに......？」
42-44 イエスは、お答えになりました。
「では、こう言えばわかるでしょうか。　主人の留守中、ほかの召使たちの面倒を見る責任を負わされた、忠実で賢い人たちに話しているのです。　主人が戻った時、かいがいしく働いているところを見られるなら、ほんとうに幸せです。　主人に全財産を任されることになるでしょう。
45 　ところが、『ご主人様はまだまだお帰りになるまい』と高をくくり、いい気になって召使たちを打ちたたき、飲んだり食べたりのどんちゃん騒ぎをしていたらどうでしょう。　46 主人は出し抜けに帰って来て、この有様を見ます。　不届き者は、責任ある地位からはずされ、不忠実な者と同じ仕事につけられるのがおちです。　47 自分の義務を心得ながら、果たそうとしなかった罰です。
48 　だが、自分でも気がつかないうちに悪いことをした人の罰は、軽くてすみます。　だれでも多く与えられた者は多く求められ、多く任された者は多く要求されるのです。
49 　わたしは、この地上に火を投げ込むために来ました。　ああ、この仕事がもうすでに終わっていたらよかったのに。　50 恐ろしいバプテスマ（洗礼）が待っています。　それが成し遂げられるまで、どんなに苦しい思いをすることでしょう。
51 　このわたしが地上に平和を与えるために来た、とでも思っているようですが、とんでもない見当違いです。　それどころか、争いと分裂を引き起こすために来たのです。　52 今から後、家庭内に分裂が生じるでしょう。　五人家族だとすれば、三対二というぐあいに、わたしに賛成するか反対するかで分かれ争うことになるのです。　53 父親がわたしのことで決断を下すと、子供は逆らうでしょう。　母と娘との意見は一致しなくなり、本来なら尊重されるしゅうとめの考えも、嫁にはねつけられてしまうでしょう。」
54 　それから、群衆に話しかけられました。
「あなたがたは天気を予測するのがとても上手です。　西の空に雲がわき上がれば、『やっ、にわか雨が来る』と言い、まさにそのとおりになります。
55 　また南風が吹けば、『やれやれ、ひどく暑い日になるぞ』とこぼし、それもまた、予測どおりになるのです。　56 偽善者たちよ！　これほど上手に空模様を見分けられるのに、目前に迫る危機についての警告には、少しの注意もはらおうとしないのですかっ！　57 どうして、何が正しいかを見分けようとしないのですか。
58 　裁判所へ行く途中、あなたを訴える人と出会ったら、裁判官の前に出るまでに、問題を解決するよう努力しなさい。　さもないと、牢獄に入れられてしまいます。　59 そうなったら、罰金を最後の一円までも払いきらなければ、出してもらえないのです。」救われる人は少ないのか

Luke 12

1 In the mean time, when the many thousands of the multitude were gathered together, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.2 But there is nothing covered up, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.3 Wherefore whatsoever ye have said in the darkness shall be heard in the light; and what ye have spoken in the ear in the inner chambers shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.5 But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pence? and not one of them is forgotten in the sight of God.7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not: ye are of more value than many sparrows.8 And I say unto you, Every one who shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:9 but he that denieth me in the presence of men shall be denied in the presence of the angels of God.10 And every one who shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven.11 And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:12 for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say.13 And one out of the multitude said unto him, Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.14 But he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from all covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:17 and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow my fruits?18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my grain and my goods.19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry.20 But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.23 For the life is more than the food, and the body than the raiment.24 Consider the ravens, that they sow not, neither reap; which have no store-chamber nor barn; and God feedeth them: of how much more value are ye than the birds!25 And which of you by being anxious can add a cubit unto the measure of his life?26 If then ye are not able to do even that which is least, why are ye anxious concerning the rest?27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; yet I say unto you, Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.28 But if God doth so clothe the grass in the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven; how much more shall he clothe you, O ye of little faith?29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, and what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: but your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.31 Yet seek ye his kingdom, and these things shall be added unto you.32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.33 Sell that which ye have, and give alms; make for yourselves purses which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief draweth near, neither moth destroyeth.34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lamps burning;36 and be ye yourselves like unto men looking for their lord, when he shall return from the marriage feast; that, when he cometh and knocketh, they may straightway open unto him.37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and shall come and serve them.38 And if he shall come in the second watch, and if in the third, and find them so blessed are those servants.39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not have left his house to be broken through.40 Be ye also ready: for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.41 And Peter said, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even unto all?42 And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall set over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath.45 But if that servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;46 the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful.47 And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes;48 but he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more.49 I came to cast fire upon the earth; and what do I desire, if it is already kindled?50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!51 Think ye that I am come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:52 for there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.53 They shall be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother in law against her daughter in law, and daughter in law against her mother in law.54 And he said to the multitudes also, When ye see a cloud rising in the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it cometh to pass.55 And when ye see a south wind blowing, ye say, There will be a scorching heat; and it cometh to pass.56 Ye hypocrites, ye know how to interpret the face of the earth and the heaven; but how is it that ye know not how to interpret this time?57 And why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?58 For as thou art going with thine adversary before the magistrate, on the way give diligence to be quit of him; lest haply he drag thee unto the judge, and the judge shall deliver thee to the officer, and the officer shall cast thee into prison.59 I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the very last mite.
