คำเตือนเรื่องความหน้าซื่อใจคด
1 ในช่วงนั้นมีฝูงชนนับเป็นพันๆ ชุมนุมเบียดเสียดกันอยู่ พระเยซูทรงเริ่มตรัสกับบรรดาสาวกของพระองค์ก่อนว่า “ท่านทั้งหลายจงระวังเชื้อของพวกฟาริสีt คือความหน้าซื่อใจคด 2 แต่ไม่มีอะไรที่ปิดบังไว้ที่จะไม่เปิดเผย หรือความลับที่จะไม่เผยให้ประจักษ์t 3 ถ้าอย่างนั้น สิ่งสารพัดซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายกล่าวในที่มืดจะได้ยินในที่แจ้ง และซึ่งกระซิบในหูที่ห้องส่วนตัวจะประกาศบนดาดฟ้าหลังคาบ้าน
ผู้ที่เราควรกลัว
(มธ.10:28-31)
4 “มิตรสหายของเราเอ๋ย เราบอกพวกท่านว่า อย่ากลัวผู้ที่ฆ่าได้แต่กาย เสร็จแล้วไม่มีอะไรที่จะทำได้อีก 5 แต่เราจะเตือนให้ท่านรู้ก่อนว่าควรจะกลัวใคร จงกลัวพระองค์ผู้ที่เมื่อทรงฆ่าแล้วก็ยังมีสิทธิอำนาจที่จะทิ้งลงในนรกได้ แท้จริง เราบอกพวกท่านว่าจงกลัวพระองค์นั้นแหละ 6 นกกระจาบห้าตัวเขาขายสองอาส์ซาริอันtไม่ใช่หรือ? และนกนั้นแม้สักตัวเดียวพระเจ้าก็ไม่ได้ทรงลืมเลย 7 ถึงผมของพวกท่านก็ทรงนับไว้แล้วทุกเส้น อย่ากลัวเลย ท่านก็มีค่ามากกว่านกกระจาบหลายตัว
การรับพระคริสต์ต่อหน้ามนุษย์
(มธ.10:32-33; 12:32; 10:19-20)
8 “และเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ทุกคนที่รับเราต่อหน้ามนุษย์ บุตรมนุษย์จะรับคนนั้นต่อหน้าบรรดาทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้า 9 แต่คนที่ปฏิเสธเราต่อหน้ามนุษย์ คนนั้นจะถูกปฏิเสธต่อหน้าทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้า 10 ทุกคนที่กล่าวร้ายบุตรมนุษย์จะได้รับการยกโทษ แต่คนที่กล่าวหมิ่นประมาทต่อพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ จะไม่ได้รับการยกโทษt 11 เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายพาพวกท่านเข้าไปอยู่ต่อหน้าธรรมศาลา หรือต่อหน้าเจ้าเมืองและผู้ที่มีอำนาจ อย่ากระวนกระวายว่าจะตอบอย่างไร หรือจะกล่าวอะไร 12 เพราะว่าพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์จะทรงสอนท่านในเวลานั้นเองว่าควรจะพูดอะไรบ้างt”
อุปมาเรื่องเศรษฐีโง่
13 มีคนหนึ่งในฝูงชนนั้นทูลพระองค์ว่า “ท่านอาจารย์ ช่วยบอกพี่ชายของข้าพเจ้าให้แบ่งมรดกแก่ข้าพเจ้าด้วย” 14 แต่พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า “พ่อหนุ่ม ใครตั้งเราให้เป็นผู้พิพากษาหรือเป็นผู้แบ่งมรดกให้ท่าน?” 15 แล้วพระองค์ตรัสกับพวกเขาว่า “ระวังให้ดี จงหลีกเลี่ยงจากความโลภทุกอย่าง เพราะว่าชีวิตของคนไม่ได้อยู่ที่การมีของฟุ่มเฟือย” 16 แล้วพระองค์ตรัสอุปมาเรื่องหนึ่งให้เขาฟังว่า “ไร่นาของเศรษฐีคนหนึ่งเกิดผลบริบูรณ์มาก 17 เศรษฐีคนนั้นจึงคิดในใจว่า ‘ข้าจะทำอย่างไรดี? เพราะว่าข้าไม่มีที่ที่จะเก็บพืชผลของข้า’ 18 เขาจึงคิดว่า ‘ข้าจะทำอย่างนี้ คือจะรื้อยุ้งฉางของข้าและจะสร้างใหม่ให้ใหญ่โตขึ้น แล้วข้าจะรวบรวมข้าวและสมบัติทั้งหมดของข้าไว้ที่นั่น 19 แล้วจะบอกกับจิตใจของข้าว่า “จิตใจเอ๋ย เจ้ามีทรัพย์สมบัติมากเก็บไว้พอหลายปี จงอยู่สบาย กิน ดื่ม และรื่นเริงเถิด” ’ 20 แต่พระเจ้าตรัสกับเขาว่า ‘โอ คนโง่ ในคืนวันนี้ชีวิตของเจ้าจะต้องเรียกเอาไปจากเจ้า แล้วของที่เจ้ารวบรวมไว้นั้นจะเป็นของใคร?’ 21 คนที่สะสมทรัพย์สมบัติไว้สำหรับตัว และไม่ได้มั่งมีฝ่ายพระเจ้าก็เป็นเช่นนั้นแหละ”
ความกังวลและความกระวนกระวาย
(มธ.6:25-34,19-21)
22 พระเยซูตรัสกับพวกสาวกของพระองค์ว่า “เพราะเหตุนี้เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า อย่ากระวนกระวายถึงชีวิตว่าจะเอาอะไรกิน และอย่ากระวนกระวายถึงร่างกายว่าจะเอาอะไรนุ่งห่ม 23 เพราะว่าชีวิตสำคัญยิ่งกว่าอาหาร และร่างกายสำคัญยิ่งกว่าเครื่องนุ่งห่ม 24 จงพิจารณาดูอีกา มันไม่ได้หว่าน ไม่ได้เกี่ยว และไม่ได้มียุ้งหรือฉาง แต่พระเจ้ายังทรงเลี้ยงมันไว้ พวกท่านประเสริฐกว่านกมากทีเดียว 25 มีใครในพวกท่านโดยความกระวนกระวายสามารถต่ออายุของตนให้ยืนนานอีกนิดหนึ่งได้? 26 เพราะฉะนั้นถ้าสิ่งเล็กน้อยยังทำไม่ได้ ท่านยังจะกระวนกระวายถึงสิ่งอื่นทำไมอีกเล่า? 27 จงพิจารณาดูดอกไม้ว่ามันเติบโตขึ้นอย่างไร มันไม่ทำงาน มันไม่ปั่นด้าย แต่เราบอกพวกท่านว่า แม้แต่กษัตริย์ซาโลมอนเมื่อบริบูรณ์ด้วยศักดิ์ศรีt ก็ไม่ได้ทรงแต่งพระองค์tงามเท่าดอกไม้เหล่านี้สักดอกหนึ่ง 28 และถ้าพระเจ้าทรงตกแต่งหญ้าที่ทุ่งนาอย่างนั้น ซึ่งเป็นอยู่วันนี้และรุ่งขึ้นต้องทิ้งในเตาไฟ โอ พวกที่มีความเชื่อน้อย พระองค์จะทรงตกแต่งท่านยิ่งกว่านั้นมากนัก 29 ท่านอย่าเสาะหาว่าจะกินอะไรดีหรือจะดื่มอะไร และอย่ามีใจกังวล 30 เพราะว่าพวกต่างชาติทั่วโลกเสาะหาสิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งหมด แต่ว่าพระบิดาของท่านทั้งหลายทรงทราบแล้วว่าท่านต้องการสิ่งเหล่านี้ 31 แต่จงแสวงหาแผ่นดินของพระเจ้า แล้วพระองค์จะทรงเพิ่มเติมสิ่งเหล่านี้ให้
32 “ฝูงแกะเล็กน้อยเอ๋ย อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะว่าพระบิดาของพวกท่านชอบพระทัยจะประทานแผ่นดินนั้นให้แก่ท่าน 33 จงขายของที่ท่านมีอยู่และทำทาน จงทำถุงใส่เงินสำหรับตนซึ่งไม่รู้จักเก่า คือมีทรัพย์สมบัติไว้ในสวรรค์ซึ่งไม่รู้จักหมดสิ้น ที่ขโมยไม่ได้เข้ามาใกล้ และที่ตัวแมลงไม่ได้ทำลาย 34 เพราะว่าทรัพย์สมบัติของพวกท่านอยู่ที่ไหน ใจของท่านก็อยู่ที่นั่นด้วย
บรรดาบ่าวที่เฝ้าระวัง
(มธ.24:45-51)
35 “ท่านทั้งหลายจงคาดเอวไว้ และให้ตะเกียงของท่านจุดอยู่t 36 จงเป็นเหมือนคนที่คอยรับนายของตนtเมื่อนายจะกลับมาจากงานสมรส เพื่อว่าเมื่อนายมาเคาะประตูแล้วพวกเขาจะเปิดให้นายได้ทันที 37 บ่าวพวกนั้นซึ่งนายมาพบว่ากำลังคอยเฝ้าอยู่ก็เป็นสุข เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า นายผู้นั้นจะคาดเอวไว้และให้บ่าวพวกนั้นนั่งลง และท่านจะมาปรนนิบัติ 38 ถ้านายมาเวลาสองยามหรือสามยามและพบว่าบ่าวกำลังคอยเฝ้าอยู่ บ่าวพวกนั้นก็เป็นสุข 39 จงเข้าใจอย่างนี้เถอะว่า ถ้าเจ้าของบ้านรู้ก่อนว่าขโมยจะมาเวลาไหน เขาจะตื่นอยู่และระวังไม่ให้ทะลวงบ้านของเขาได้ 40 พวกท่านจงเตรียมตัวไว้ให้พร้อมด้วย เพราะในเวลาที่ท่านไม่คิดไม่ฝันนั้น บุตรมนุษย์จะเสด็จมาt”
41 เปโตรทูลว่า “องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระองค์ตรัสอุปมานั้นกับพวกข้าพระองค์หรือตรัสกับคนทั่วไป?” 42 องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า “ใครเป็นพ่อบ้านซื่อสัตย์และฉลาด ที่นายตั้งไว้เหนือพวกคนใช้เพื่อแจกอาหารตามเวลา 43 เมื่อนายมาพบเขาทำอย่างนั้น บ่าวคนนั้นก็จะเป็นสุข 44 เราบอกพวกท่านจริงๆ ว่า นายจะตั้งเขาไว้ให้ดูแลทรัพย์สิ่งของทั้งหมดของท่าน 45 แต่ถ้าบ่าวคนนั้นคิดในใจว่า ‘นายของข้าคงจะมาช้า’ แล้วเริ่มต้นโบยตีบรรดาบ่าวชายหญิงและกินดื่มเมามาย 46 นายของบ่าวคนนั้นจะมาในวันที่เขาไม่คาดคิด ในเวลาที่เขาไม่รู้ และจะลงโทษเขาอย่างหนัก และจะขับไล่ให้ไปอยู่ในที่ของพวกที่ไม่เชื่อ 47 บ่าวคนที่รู้ใจนายและไม่ได้เตรียมตัวไว้ ไม่ได้ทำตามใจนาย จะต้องถูกเฆี่ยนอย่างหนัก 48 แต่คนที่ไม่รู้ แล้วทำสิ่งที่สมควรจะถูกเฆี่ยน ก็จะถูกเฆี่ยนเพียงเล็กน้อย คนที่ได้รับมาก จะต้องเรียกเอาจากคนนั้นมาก และคนที่ได้รับฝากไว้มาก ก็จะต้องทวงเอาจากคนนั้นมาก
พระเยซูทรงเป็นเหตุของการแตกแยก
(มธ.10:34-36)
49 “เรามาเพื่อจะให้ไฟเกิดขึ้นที่แผ่นดินโลก เราอยากให้ไฟนั้นลุกขึ้นแล้ว 50 เราจะต้องรับบัพติศมาอย่างหนึ่งt เราเป็นทุกข์มากจนกว่าจะสำเร็จ 51 พวกท่านคิดว่าเรามาเพื่อจะให้เกิดสันติภาพในโลกหรือ? เราบอกท่านว่า ไม่ใช่ แต่จะให้แตกแยกกันต่างหาก 52 เพราะว่าตั้งแต่นี้ไป ห้าคนในบ้านหลังหนึ่งก็จะแตกแยกกัน คือสามต่อสองและสองต่อสาม
53 พ่อจะแตกแยกกับลูกชาย
และลูกชายจะแตกแยกกับพ่อ
แม่กับลูกสาว
และลูกสาวกับแม่
แม่ผัวกับลูกสะใภ้
และลูกสะใภ้กับแม่ผัวt”
การคาดการณ์ความเป็นไปของยุคนี้
(มธ.16:2-3)
54 พระองค์ตรัสกับฝูงชนอีกว่า “เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเห็นเมฆก่อตัวขึ้นทางทิศตะวันตก ท่านก็กล่าวทันทีว่า ‘ฝนจะตก’ และก็เป็นอย่างนั้นจริง 55 เมื่อเห็นลมทิศใต้พัดมา ท่านก็บอกว่า ‘จะร้อนจัด’ และก็เป็นจริง 56 โอ คนหน้าซื่อใจคด พวกท่านรู้จักวิจัยความเป็นไปของแผ่นดินและท้องฟ้า เพราะอะไรท่านถึงวิจัยความเป็นไปของยุคนี้ไม่ได้?
การปรองดองกับโจทก์ของท่าน
(มธ.5:25-26)
57 “ทำไมพวกท่านไม่ตัดสินเอาเองว่าสิ่งไหนเป็นสิ่งที่ถูก? 58 เพราะในขณะที่ท่านกับโจทก์พากันไปหาตุลาการ จงอุตส่าห์หาช่องที่จะปรองดองกับเขาเมื่อยังอยู่ระหว่างทาง เกรงว่าเขาจะฉุดลากท่านเข้าไปถึงตัวผู้พิพากษา และผู้พิพากษาจะมอบท่านไว้กับผู้คุม และผู้คุมจะขังท่านไว้ในคุก 59 เราบอกท่านว่า ท่านจะออกจากที่นั่นไม่ได้จนกว่าจะใช้หนี้ครบทุกบาททุกสตางค์”

1 In the mean time, when the many thousands of the multitude were gathered together, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.2 But there is nothing covered up, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.3 Wherefore whatsoever ye have said in the darkness shall be heard in the light; and what ye have spoken in the ear in the inner chambers shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.5 But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pence? and not one of them is forgotten in the sight of God.7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not: ye are of more value than many sparrows.8 And I say unto you, Every one who shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:9 but he that denieth me in the presence of men shall be denied in the presence of the angels of God.10 And every one who shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Spirit it shall not be forgiven.11 And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, be not anxious how or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:12 for the Holy Spirit shall teach you in that very hour what ye ought to say.13 And one out of the multitude said unto him, Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me.14 But he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from all covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:17 and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have not where to bestow my fruits?18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my grain and my goods.19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry.20 But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.23 For the life is more than the food, and the body than the raiment.24 Consider the ravens, that they sow not, neither reap; which have no store-chamber nor barn; and God feedeth them: of how much more value are ye than the birds!25 And which of you by being anxious can add a cubit unto the measure of his life?26 If then ye are not able to do even that which is least, why are ye anxious concerning the rest?27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; yet I say unto you, Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.28 But if God doth so clothe the grass in the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven; how much more shall he clothe you, O ye of little faith?29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, and what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: but your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.31 Yet seek ye his kingdom, and these things shall be added unto you.32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.33 Sell that which ye have, and give alms; make for yourselves purses which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief draweth near, neither moth destroyeth.34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lamps burning;36 and be ye yourselves like unto men looking for their lord, when he shall return from the marriage feast; that, when he cometh and knocketh, they may straightway open unto him.37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and shall come and serve them.38 And if he shall come in the second watch, and if in the third, and find them so blessed are those servants.39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not have left his house to be broken through.40 Be ye also ready: for in an hour that ye think not the Son of man cometh.41 And Peter said, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even unto all?42 And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall set over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will set him over all that he hath.45 But if that servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;46 the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not, and shall cut him asunder, and appoint his portion with the unfaithful.47 And that servant, who knew his lord’s will, and made not ready, nor did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes;48 but he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more.49 I came to cast fire upon the earth; and what do I desire, if it is already kindled?50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!51 Think ye that I am come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:52 for there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.53 They shall be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother in law against her daughter in law, and daughter in law against her mother in law.54 And he said to the multitudes also, When ye see a cloud rising in the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it cometh to pass.55 And when ye see a south wind blowing, ye say, There will be a scorching heat; and it cometh to pass.56 Ye hypocrites, ye know how to interpret the face of the earth and the heaven; but how is it that ye know not how to interpret this time?57 And why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?58 For as thou art going with thine adversary before the magistrate, on the way give diligence to be quit of him; lest haply he drag thee unto the judge, and the judge shall deliver thee to the officer, and the officer shall cast thee into prison.59 I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the very last mite.
