Lucas 13

Arrepentíos o pereceréis

1 En este mismo tiempo estaban allí algunos que le contaban acerca de los galileos cuya sangre Pilato había mezclado con los sacrificios de ellos.

2 Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo:
—¿Pensáis que estos galileos, porque padecieron tales cosas, eran más pecadores que los demás galileos?3 Os digo: no, antes si no os arrepentís, todos pereceréis igualmente.4 O aquellos dieciocho sobre los cuales cayó la torre en Siloé y los mató, ¿pensáis que eran más culpables que todos los hombres que habitan en Jerusalén?

5 Os digo: no, antes si no os arrepentís, todos pereceréis igualmente.

Parábola de la higuera estéril

6 Dijo también esta parábola: «Un hombre tenía una higuera plantada en su viña, y vino a buscar fruto en ella y no lo halló.7 Y dijo al viñador: “Ya hace tres años que vengo a buscar fruto en esta higuera y no lo hallo. ¡Córtala! ¿Para qué inutilizar también la tierra?”8 Él entonces, respondiendo, le dijo: “Señor, déjala todavía este año, hasta que yo cave alrededor de ella y la abone.

9 Si da fruto, bien; y si no, la cortarás después.”»

Jesús sana a una mujer en sábado

10 Enseñaba Jesús en una sinagoga en sábado,11 y había allí una mujer que desde hacía dieciocho años tenía espíritu de enfermedad, y andaba encorvada y en ninguna manera se podía enderezar.

12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y le dijo:
—Mujer, eres libre de tu enfermedad.
13 Puso las manos sobre ella, y ella se enderezó al momento y glorificaba a Dios.

14 Pero el alto dignatario de la sinagoga, enojado de que Jesús hubiera sanado en sábado, dijo a la gente:
—Seis días hay en que se debe trabajar; en estos, pues, venid y sed sanados, y no en sábado.

15 Entonces el Señor le respondió y dijo:
—¡Hipócrita!, ¿no desatáis vosotros vuestro buey o vuestro asno del pesebre y lo lleváis a beber en sábado?

16 Y a esta hija de Abraham, que Satanás había atado dieciocho años, ¿no se le debía desatar de esta ligadura en sábado?

17 Al decir él estas cosas, se avergonzaban todos sus adversarios; pero todo el pueblo se regocijaba por todas las cosas gloriosas hechas por él.

Parábola de la semilla de mostaza

18 Dijo:
—¿A qué es semejante el reino de Dios, y con qué lo compararé?

19 Es semejante al grano de mostaza que un hombre tomó y sembró en su huerto; y creció y se hizo árbol grande, y las aves del cielo anidaron en sus ramas.

Parábola de la levadura

20 Y volvió a decir:
—¿A qué compararé el reino de Dios?

21 Es semejante a la levadura que una mujer tomó y mezcló con tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo hubo fermentado.

La puerta estrecha

22 Pasaba Jesús por ciudades y aldeas, enseñando, mientras se encaminaba a Jerusalén.

23 Alguien preguntó:
—Señor, ¿son pocos los que se salvan?
Él les dijo:
24 —Esforzaos a entrar por la puerta angosta, porque os digo que muchos intentarán entrar y no podrán.25 Después que el padre de familia se haya levantado y cerrado la puerta, y estando fuera empecéis a llamar a la puerta, diciendo: “Señor, Señor, ábrenos”, él, respondiendo, os dirá: “No sé de dónde sois.”26 Entonces comenzaréis a decir: “Delante de ti hemos comido y bebido, y en nuestras plazas enseñaste.”27 Pero os dirá: “Os digo que no sé de dónde sois; apartaos de mí todos vosotros, hacedores de maldad.”28 Allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes, cuando veáis a Abraham, a Isaac, a Jacob y a todos los profetas en el reino de Dios, y vosotros estéis excluidos.29 Vendrán gentes del oriente y del occidente, del norte y del sur, y se sentarán a la mesa en el reino de Dios.

30 Hay últimos que serán primeros, y primeros que serán últimos.

Lamento de Jesús sobre Jerusalén

31 Aquel mismo día llegaron unos fariseos, diciéndole:
—Sal y vete de aquí, porque Herodes te quiere matar.

32 Él les dijo:
—Id y decid a aquella zorra: “Echo fuera demonios y hago curaciones hoy y mañana, y al tercer día termino mi obra”.33 Sin embargo, es necesario que hoy y mañana y pasado mañana siga mi camino, porque no es posible que un profeta muera fuera de Jerusalén.34 ¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, que matas a los profetas y apedreas a los que te son enviados! ¡Cuántas veces quise juntar a tus hijos, como la gallina a sus polluelos debajo de sus alas, pero no quisiste!

35 Vuestra casa os es dejada desierta; y os digo que no me volveréis a ver hasta que llegue el tiempo en que digáis: “Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor.”

LUKE 13

Turn Back to God

1 About this same time Jesus was told that Pilate had given orders for some people from Galilee to be killed while they were offering sacrifices.

2 Jesus replied:
Do you think that these people were worse sinners than everyone else in Galilee just because of what happened to them? 3 Not at all! But you can be sure that if you don't turn back to God, every one of you will also be killed. 4 What about those 18 people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Do you think they were worse than everyone else in Jerusalem?

5 Not at all! But you can be sure that if you don't turn back to God, every one of you will also die.

A Story about a Fig Tree

6 Jesus then told them this story:
A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard. One day he went out to pick some figs, but he didn't find any.

7 So he said to the gardener, “For three years I have come looking for figs on this tree, and I haven't found any yet. Chop it down! Why should it take up space?”
8 The gardener answered, “Master, leave it for another year. I'll dig around it and put some manure on it to make it grow.

9 Maybe it will have figs on it next year. If it doesn't, you can have it cut down.”

Healing a Woman //on the Sabbath

13 He placed his hands on her, and at once she stood up straight and praised God.

14  t The man in charge of the synagogue was angry because Jesus had healed someone on the Sabbath. So he said to the people, “Each week has six days when we can work. Come and be healed on one of those days, but not on the Sabbath.”
15 The Lord replied, “Are you trying to fool someone? Won't any one of you untie your ox or donkey and lead it out to drink on a Sabbath? 16 This woman belongs to the family of Abraham, but Satan has kept her bound for 18 years. Isn't it right to set her free on the Sabbath?”

17 Jesus' words made his enemies ashamed. But everyone else in the crowd was happy about the wonderful things he was doing.

A Mustard Seed and Yeast

(Matthew 13.31-33; Mark 4.30-32)

19 It is like what happens when someone plants a mustard seed in a garden. The seed grows as big as a tree, and birds nest in its branches.”
20 Then Jesus said, “What can I compare God's kingdom with?

21 It is like what happens when a woman mixes yeast into three batches of flour. Finally, all the dough rises.”

The Narrow Door

(Matthew 7.13,14,21-23)

23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
Jesus answered:
24 Do all you can to go in by the narrow door! A lot of people will try to get in, but will not be able to.

25 Once the owner of the house gets up and locks the door, you will be left standing outside. You will knock on the door and say, “Sir, open the door for us!”
But the owner will answer, “I don't know a thing about you! ”

26 Then you will start saying, “We dined with you, and you taught in our streets.”

27  t But he will say, “I really don't know who you are! Get away from me, you evil people!”
28  t t Then when you have been thrown outside, you will weep and grit your teeth because you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in God's kingdom. 29 People will come from all directions and sit down to feast in God's kingdom.

30 t There the ones who are now least important will be the most important, and those who are now most important will be least important.

Jesus and Herod

31 At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “You had better get away from here, because Herodt wants to kill you!”

32 Jesus said to them:
Go tell that fox, “I am going to force out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and three days later I'll be through.”

33 But I am going on my way today and tomorrow and the next day. After all, Jerusalem is the place where prophets are killed.

Jesus Loves Jerusalem

(Matthew 23.37-39)

35 t Now your temple will be deserted. You won't see me again until the time when you say,
“Blessed is the one who comes
in the name of the Lord.”
