Lucas 13

Cambien su vida

1 En aquel tiempo vinieron algunos a contarle a Jesús lo que les había pasado a unos de Galilea. Pilatot los había matado mientras estaban adorando a Dios, y había mezclado su sangre con la de los animales que estaban sacrificando.2 Jesús les respondió: «¿Ustedes piensan que lo que les pasó a ellos fue porque eran más pecadores que la demás gente de Galilea?3 ¡No! Pero les digo que si ustedes no cambian su manera de pensar y de vivir, morirán también como ellos.4 O miren lo que les pasó a los dieciocho que murieron cuando la torre de Siloé les cayó encima. ¿Piensan que eso les pasó porque eran más culpables que el resto de la gente que vivía en Jerusalén?

5 ¡No! Pero les digo que si ustedes no cambian su manera de pensar y de vivir, morirán también como ellos».

La higuera que no servía para nada

6 Entonces les contó esta historiat: «Un hombre tenía una higuera en su viñedo y un día fue a ver si tenía higos, pero no encontró nada.7 Entonces le dijo al encargado del viñedo: "He venido tres años seguidos a ver si esta higuera tiene higos, pero nunca los he encontrado. Por eso, córtala. ¿Para qué desperdiciar ese pedazo de tierra?"8 El encargado le respondió: "Patrón, déjela aquí por un año más. Déjeme cultivarla y ponerle abono.

9 Entonces si el próximo año tiene frutos, la dejamos allí, pero si no tiene frutos, la puede mandar cortar"».

Jesús sana en el día de descanso

10 El día de descansot, Jesús estaba enseñando en una de las sinagogast.11 Allí había una mujer que tenía un espíritu de enfermedad que la había tenido lisiada ya por dieciocho años. Andaba encorvada y no se podía enderezar nada.

12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y le dijo:
—Mujer, quedas libre de tu enfermedad.

13 Entonces puso las manos sobre ella, y de inmediato ella se enderezó y empezó a alabar a Dios.

14 El dirigente de la sinagoga se disgustó mucho porque Jesús la había sanado en el día de descanso. Por eso el dirigente le dijo a la gente:
—Hay seis días para trabajar, así que vengan a ser sanados en esos días, no en el día de descanso.

15 El Señor le respondió:
—¡Hipócritas! ¿Acaso no desatan todos ustedes a su buey o a su burro en día de descanso para llevarlo a tomar agua?

16 Esta mujer también es descendiente de Abrahamt,t y por dieciocho años Satanás la ha atado a esta condición. ¿No se le debía desatar de esta atadura en día de descanso?

17 Cuando dijo esto, todos los que estaban en su contra se avergonzaron, pero los demás se alegraron mucho por las cosas maravillosas que hacía.

Historia de la semilla de mostaza

18 Jesús dijo: «¿Cómo es el reino de Diost? ¿Con qué lo puedo comparar?

19 Es como una semilla de mostaza que un hombre sembró en su campo. La semilla creció y se convirtió en un gran árbol, y las aves construyeron nidos en sus ramas».
20 Dijo otra vez: «¿Con qué puedo comparar el reino de Dios?

21 Es como la levadura que una mujer mezcla con mucha harina. Al final, toda la masa queda fermentada».

La puerta angosta

22 Jesús iba por los pueblos y aldeas enseñando mientras se dirigía a Jerusalén.

23 Alguien le dijo:
—¿Señor, son pocos los que se salvarán?
Él respondió:
24 —Esfuércense por entrar por la puerta angosta, pues les aseguro que mucha gente tratará de entrar pero no podrá.25 Supongan que el dueño de una casa ya ha cerrado la puerta, y ustedes se quedan afuera llamando, y entonces dicen: "Señor, ¡ábrenos la puerta!" pero él les responde: "No sé de dónde son ustedes".26 Entonces ustedes dicen: "Nosotros comimos y bebimos contigo y tú enseñaste en nuestras calles".

27 Él les dice, "No sé de dónde son ustedes. Apártense de mí, porque ustedes se dedicaron a hacer el mal".
28 »Habrá llanto y crujir de dientes cuando vean a Abrahamt, Isaact, Jacobt y a todos los profetas en el reino de Diost, pero ustedes sean echados fuera.29 Vendrá gente del oriente y del occidente, del norte y del sur, y ocuparán su lugar en la mesa en el reino de Dios.

30 Tengan en cuenta que los últimos serán los primeros, y los primeros serán los últimos».

Jesús habla de morir en Jerusalén

31 En ese momento, algunos fariseost se acercaron a Jesús, y le dijeron:—Huye de aquí a otro lugar, porque Herodest te quiere matar.

32 Él les dijo:
—Vayan y díganle a ese zorrot: "Expulsaré a los demonios de la gente, la sanaré hoy y mañana, y al tercer día terminaré mi trabajo".

33 Después de eso, tendré que irme, porque no está bien para un profeta que lo maten fuera de Jerusalén.
34 »¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, la que mata a los profetas y apedrea a los mensajeros que Dios le envía! ¡Cuántas veces quise juntar a tus hijos, así como la gallina junta a sus pollitos bajo sus alas, pero ustedes no quisieron!

35 Ahora su casa quedará completamente vacía. Les digo que no me verán más, sino hasta que llegue el tiempo en que digan ustedes: "¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor!"t»

Luke 13

Call to Repent

1 Now on the same occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered this fate?3 I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.4 Or do you suppose that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem?5 I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."

6 And He began telling this parable: "A man had a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any.7 And he said to the vineyard-keeper, 'Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree without finding any. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?'8 And he answered and said to him, 'Let it alone, sir, for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer;9 and if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, cut it down.'"

Healing on the Sabbath

10 And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.11 And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all.12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your sickness."13 And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God.14 But the synagogue official, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, "There are six days in which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day."15 But the Lord answered him and said, "You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away to water him?16 And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?"17 As He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.

Parables of Mustard Seed and Leaven

18 So He was saying, "What is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it?19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and THE BIRDS OF THE AIR NESTED IN ITS BRANCHES."

20 And again He said, "To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened."

Teaching in the Villages

22 And He was passing through from one city and village to another, teaching, and proceeding on His way to Jerusalem.23 And someone said to Him, "Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?" And He said to them,24 "Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.25 Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.'26 Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets';27 and He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.'28 In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out.29 And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.30 And behold, some are last who will be first and some are first who will be last."

31 Just at that time some Pharisees approached, saying to Him, "Go away, leave here, for Herod wants to kill You."32 And He said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal.'33 Nevertheless I must journey on today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it!35 Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, 'BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!'"
