LUCAS 13

Cambiar de vida

1 Por aquel tiempo, algunos le dijeron a Jesús que Pilato, el gobernador romano, había mandado matar a varios hombres de la región de Galilea. Esto les había sucedido mientras ellos estaban en el templo ofreciendo sacrificios a Dios.

2 Jesús les dijo:

«¿Creen ustedes que esos hombres murieron porque eran más malos que los demás habitantes de Galilea?3 ¡De ninguna manera! Y si ustedes no cambian su manera de vivir ni obedecen a Dios, de seguro morirán.4 Acuérdense de los dieciocho que murieron cuando se les vino encima la torre que se derrumbó en Siloé. ¿Creen ustedes que eso les pasó porque eran más malos que todos los habitantes de Jerusalén?

5 ¡De ninguna manera! Y si ustedes no cambian su manera de vivir ni obedecen a Dios, también morirán.»

La higuera

6 Además, Jesús les puso este ejemplo:

«Un hombre había sembrado una higuera en su viñedo. Un día, fue a ver si el árbol tenía higos, pero no encontró ninguno.7 Entonces le dijo al encargado del viñedo: “Tres años seguidos he venido a ver si esta higuera ya tiene higos, y nunca encuentro nada. Córtala, pues sólo está ocupando terreno.”8 El encargado le dijo: “Señor, deje usted la higuera un año más. Aflojaré la tierra a su alrededor, y le pondré abono.

9 Si el próximo año da higos, la dejará vivir; si no, puede ordenar que la corten.”»

Jesús sana a una mujer

10 Un sábado, Jesús estaba enseñando en una sinagoga.11 Allí había una mujer que tenía dieciocho años de estar jorobada. Un espíritu malo la había dejado así, y no podía enderezarse para nada.12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y le dijo: «¡Mujer, quedas libre de tu enfermedad!»

13 Jesús puso sus manos sobre ella, y en ese momento la mujer se enderezó y comenzó a alabar a Dios.

14 El jefe de la sinagoga se enojó mucho con Jesús, por lo que Jesús había hecho en un día de descanso obligatorio. Por eso, le dijo a la gente que estaba reunida: «La semana tiene seis días para trabajar, y uno para descansar. Ustedes deben venir para ser sanados en uno de esos seis días, pero no en sábado.»
15 Jesús contestó: «¿A quién tratan de engañar? Ustedes llevan a su buey o a su burro a beber agua el día sábado,

16 y esta mujer vale mucho más que un buey o un burro, porque es descendiente de Abraham. Si Satanás la tuvo enferma durante dieciocho años, ¿por qué no podría ser sanada en un día sábado?»

17 Cuando Jesús dijo esto, sus enemigos quedaron avergonzados. El resto de la gente, en cambio, se puso muy feliz al ver las cosas tan maravillosas que Jesús hacía.

La semilla de mostaza

18 Jesús también les dijo:

«¿Cómo les puedo explicar qué es el reino de Dios? ¿Con qué puedo compararlo?

19 Se puede comparar con la semilla de mostaza: Cuando un hombre va y la siembra en su terreno, ella crece y se convierte en un árbol grande, tan grande que hasta los pájaros vienen y hacen nidos en sus ramas.»

La levadura

20 Jesús también les dijo:

«¿Con qué más puedo comparar el reino de Dios?

21 Se puede comparar con lo que sucede cuando una mujer pone un poquito de levadura en un montón de harina. ¡Ese poquito hace crecer toda la masa!»

La entrada estrecha

22 Durante el viaje hacia Jerusalén, Jesús pasaba por los pueblos y aldeas y enseñaba a la gente.

23 Un día, alguien le preguntó:

—Señor, ¿serán pocos los que se van a salvar?

Jesús contestó:

24 «Traten de entrar por la entrada estrecha. Porque muchos querrán entrar al reino de Dios y no podrán.25 Cuando Dios cierre la puerta, si ustedes están afuera ya no podrán entrar. Tocarán a la puerta y dirán: “¡Señor, ábrenos!” Pero yo les diré: “No sé quiénes sean ustedes, ni de dónde vengan.”26 Y ustedes dirán: “Nosotros comimos y bebimos contigo; además, tú enseñaste en las calles de nuestro pueblo.”

27 Pero yo les contestaré: “¡Ya les dije que no los conozco! ¡Gente malvada, apártense de mí!”
28 »Ustedes se quedarán afuera, y llorarán y les rechinarán de terror los dientes, porque verán en el reino de Dios a sus antepasados Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, y a los profetas.29 De todas partes del mundo vendrán a la gran cena que Dios dará en su reino.

30 Allí, los que ahora son los menos importantes, serán los más importantes. Y los que ahora son importantes, serán los menos importantes.»

Jesús y Herodes

31 En ese momento llegaron unos fariseos, y le dijeron a Jesús:

—¡Huye, porque el rey Herodes Antipas quiere matarte!

32 Jesús les dijo:

—Vayan y díganle a esa zorra t t que hoy y mañana estaré expulsando demonios y curando a los enfermos, y que el tercer día ya habré terminado.

33 Aunque, en verdad, hoy, mañana y pasado mañana deberé seguir mi viaje hasta llegar a Jerusalén. Después de todo, allí es donde matan a los profetas.

Jesús llora por la gente de Jerusalén

34 »¡Habitantes de Jerusalén! ¡Ustedes matan a los profetas y a los mensajeros que Dios les envía! Muchas veces quise protegerlos a ustedes, como la gallina que cuida a sus pollitos debajo de sus alas, pero ustedes no me dejaron.

35 Por eso su templo quedará abandonado. Y les aseguro que no volverán a verme, hasta que digan: “¡ Bendito el Mesías que viene en el nombre de Dios!”»

Luke 13

1 Now there were some present at that very season who told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.2 And he answered and said unto them, Think ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they have suffered these things?3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all in like manner perish.4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them, think ye that they were offenders above all the men that dwell in Jerusalem?5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.6 And he spake this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit thereon, and found none.7 And he said unto the vinedresser, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why doth it also cumber the ground?8 And he answering saith unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:9 and if it bear fruit thenceforth, well; but if not, thou shalt cut it down.10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath day.11 And behold, a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up.12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.13 And he laid his hands upon her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.14 And the ruler of the synagogue, being moved with indignation because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, answered and said to the multitude, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the day of the sabbath.15 But the Lord answered him, and said, Ye hypocrites, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo, these eighteen years, to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the sabbath?17 And as he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame: and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.18 He said therefore, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I liken it?19 It is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his own garden; and it grew, and became a tree; and the birds of the heaven lodged in the branches thereof.20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?21 It is like unto leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.22 And he went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and journeying on unto Jerusalem.23 And one said unto him, Lord, are they few that are saved? And he said unto them,24 Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he shall answer and say to you, I know you not whence ye are;26 then shall ye begin to say, We did eat and drink in thy presence, and thou didst teach in our streets;27 and he shall say, I tell you, I know not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.28 There shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and yourselves cast forth without.29 And they shall come from the east and west, and from the north and south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.30 And behold, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last.31 In that very hour there came certain Pharisees, saying to him, Get thee out, and go hence: for Herod would fain kill thee.32 And he said unto them, Go and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third day I am perfected.33 Nevertheless I must go on my way to-day and to-morrow and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her own brood under her wings, and ye would not!35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
