第16章
1 イエスはまた、弟子たちに言われた、「ある金持のところにひとりの家令がいたが、彼は主人の財産を浪費していると、告げ口をする者があった。2 そこで主人は彼を呼んで言った、『あなたについて聞いていることがあるが、あれはどうなのか。あなたの会計報告を出しなさい。もう家令をさせて置くわけにはいかないから』。3 この家令は心の中で思った、『どうしようか。主人がわたしの職を取り上げようとしている。土を掘るには力がないし、物ごいするのは恥ずかしい。4 そうだ、わかった。こうしておけば、職をやめさせられる場合、人々がわたしをその家に迎えてくれるだろう』。5 それから彼は、主人の負債者をひとりびとり呼び出して、初めの人に、『あなたは、わたしの主人にどれだけ負債がありますか』と尋ねた。6 『油百樽です』と答えた。そこで家令が言った、『ここにあなたの証書がある。すぐそこにすわって、五十樽と書き変えなさい』。7 次に、もうひとりに、『あなたの負債はどれだけですか』と尋ねると、『麦百石です』と答えた。これに対して、『ここに、あなたの証書があるが、八十石と書き変えなさい』と言った。8 ところが主人は、この不正な家令の利口なやり方をほめた。この世の子らはその時代に対しては、光の子らよりも利口である。9 またあなたがたに言うが、不正の富を用いてでも、自分のために友だちをつくるがよい。そうすれば、富が無くなった場合、あなたがたを永遠のすまいに迎えてくれるであろう。10 小事に忠実な人は、大事にも忠実である。そして、小事に不忠実な人は大事にも不忠実である。11 だから、もしあなたがたが不正の富について忠実でなかったら、だれが真の富を任せるだろうか。12 また、もしほかの人のものについて忠実でなかったら、だれがあなたがたのものを与えてくれようか。13 どの僕でも、ふたりの主人に兼ね仕えることはできない。一方を憎んで他方を愛し、あるいは、一方に親しんで他方をうとんじるからである。あなたがたは、神と富とに兼ね仕えることはできない」。14 欲の深いパリサイ人たちが、すべてこれらの言葉を聞いて、イエスをあざ笑った。15 そこで彼らにむかって言われた、「あなたがたは、人々の前で自分を正しいとする人たちである。しかし、神はあなたがたの心をご存じである。人々の間で尊ばれるものは、神のみまえでは忌みきらわれる。16 律法と預言者とはヨハネの時までのものである。それ以来、神の国が宣べ伝えられ、人々は皆これに突入している。17 しかし、律法の一画が落ちるよりは、天地の滅びる方が、もっとたやすい。18 すべて自分の妻を出して他の女をめとる者は、姦淫を行うものであり、また、夫から出された女をめとる者も、姦淫を行うものである。19 ある金持がいた。彼は紫の衣や細布を着て、毎日ぜいたくに遊び暮していた。20 ところが、ラザロという貧乏人が全身でき物でおおわれて、この金持の玄関の前にすわり、21 その食卓から落ちるもので飢えをしのごうと望んでいた。その上、犬がきて彼のでき物をなめていた。22 この貧乏人がついに死に、御使たちに連れられてアブラハムのふところに送られた。金持も死んで葬られた。23 そして黄泉にいて苦しみながら、目をあげると、アブラハムとそのふところにいるラザロとが、はるかに見えた。24 そこで声をあげて言った、『父、アブラハムよ、わたしをあわれんでください。ラザロをおつかわしになって、その指先を水でぬらし、わたしの舌を冷やさせてください。わたしはこの火炎の中で苦しみもだえています』。25 アブラハムが言った、『子よ、思い出すがよい。あなたは生前よいものを受け、ラザロの方は悪いものを受けた。しかし今ここでは、彼は慰められ、あなたは苦しみもだえている。26 そればかりか、わたしたちとあなたがたとの間には大きな淵がおいてあって、こちらからあなたがたの方へ渡ろうと思ってもできないし、そちらからわたしたちの方へ越えて来ることもできない』。27 そこで金持が言った、『父よ、ではお願いします。わたしの父の家へラザロをつかわしてください。28 わたしに五人の兄弟がいますので、こんな苦しい所へ来ることがないように、彼らに警告していただきたいのです』。29 アブラハムは言った、『彼らにはモーセと預言者とがある。それに聞くがよかろう』。30 金持が言った、『いえいえ、父アブラハムよ、もし死人の中からだれかが兄弟たちのところへ行ってくれましたら、彼らは悔い改めるでしょう』。31 アブラハムは言った、『もし彼らがモーセと預言者とに耳を傾けないなら、死人の中からよみがえってくる者があっても、彼らはその勧めを聞き入れはしないであろう』」。
Luke 16
1 And he said also unto the disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he was wasting his goods.2 And he called him, and said unto him, What is this that I hear of thee? render the account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward.3 And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.5 And calling to him each one of his lord’s debtors, he said to the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?6 And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bond, and sit down quickly and write fifty.7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. He saith unto him, Take thy bond, and write fourscore.8 And his lord commended the unrighteous steward because he had done wisely: for the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of the light.9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends by means of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when it shall fail, they may receive you into the eternal tabernacles.10 He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much.11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.14 And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him.15 And he said unto them, Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.16 The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man entereth violently into it.17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall.18 Every one that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth one that is put away from a husband committeth adultery.19 Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day:20 and a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores,21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table; yea, even the dogs come and licked his sores.22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.23 And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted and thou art in anguish.26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us.27 And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house;28 for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.29 But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.
