누가복음서 16

불의한 청지기의 비유

1  예수께서 제자들에게도 말씀하셨다. “어떤 부자가 있었는데, 그는 청지기 하나를 두었다. 그는 이 청지기가 자기 재산을 낭비한다고 하는 소문을 듣고서, 2 그를 불러 놓고 말하였다. ‘자네를 두고 말하는 것이 들리는데, 어찌 된 일인가? 자네가 맡아보던 청지기 일을 정리하게. 이제부터 자네는 그 일을 볼 수 없네.’ 3 그러자 그 청지기는 속으로 말하였다. ‘주인이 내게서 청지기 직분을 빼앗으려 하니, 어떻게 하면 좋을까? 땅을 파자니 힘이 없고, 빌어먹자니 낯이 부끄럽구나. 4 옳지, 내가 무엇을 해야 할지 알겠다. 내가 청지기의 자리에서 떨려날 때에, 사람들이 나를 자기네 집으로 맞아들이도록 조치해 놓아야지.’ 5 그래서 그는 자기 주인에게 빚진 사람들을 하나씩 불러다가, 첫째 사람에게 ‘당신이 내 주인에게 진 빚이 얼마요?’ 하고 물었다. 6 그 사람이 ‘기름 백 t말이오’ 하고 대답하니, 청지기는 그에게 ‘자, 이것이 당신의 빚문서요. 어서 앉아서, 쉰 말이라고 적으시오’ 하고 말하였다. 7 그리고 다른 사람에게 묻기를 ‘당신의 빚은 얼마요?’ 하였다. 그 사람이 ‘밀 백 t섬이오’ 하고 대답하니, 청지기가 그에게 말하기를 ‘자, 이것이 당신의 빚문서요. 받아서, 여든 섬이라고 적으시오’ 하였다. 8 주인은 그 불의한 청지기를 칭찬하였다. 그가 슬기롭게 대처하였기 때문이다. 이 세상의 자녀들이 자기네끼리 거래하는 데는 빛의 자녀들보다 더 슬기롭다. 9 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말한다. 불의한 t재물로 친구를 사귀어라. 그래서 그 재물이 없어질 때에, 그들이 너희를 영원한 t처소로 맞아들이게 하여라. 10 지극히 작은 일에 충실한 사람은 큰 일에도 충실하고, 지극히 작은 일에 불의한 사람은 큰 일에도 불의하다. 11 너희가 불의한 t재물에 충실하지 못하였으면, 누가 너희에게 참된 것을 맡기겠느냐? 12 또 너희가 남의 것에 충실하지 못하였으면, 누가 너희에게 너희의 몫인들 내주겠느냐? 13 한 종이 두 주인을 섬기지 못한다. 그가 한 쪽을 미워하고 다른 쪽을 사랑하거나, 한 쪽을 떠받들고 다른 쪽을 업신여길 것이다. 너희는 하나님과 t재물을 함께 섬길 수 없다.”

율법과 하나님의 나라

14 돈을 좋아하는 바리새파 사람들이 이 모든 말씀을 듣고 나서, 예수를 비웃었다. 15 그래서 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “너희는 사람들 앞에서 스스로 의롭다고 하는 자들이다. 그러나 하나님께서는 너희의 마음을 아신다. 사람들이 높이 평가하는 그러한 것은 하나님이 보시기에 혐오스러운 것이다. 16 율법과 예언자는 요한의 때까지다. 그 뒤로부터는 하나님 나라가 기쁜 소식으로 전파되고 있으며, 모두 t거기에 억지로 밀고 들어간다. 17 율법에서 한 획이 빠지는 것보다, 하늘과 땅이 없어지는 것이 더 쉽다. 18 자기 아내를 버리고 다른 여자에게 장가드는 사람은 간음하는 것이며, 남편에게서 버림받은 여자에게 장가드는 사람도 간음하는 것이다.”

부자와 거지

19 “어떤 부자가 있었는데, 그는 자색 옷과 고운 베옷을 입고, 날마다 즐겁고 호화롭게 살았다. 20 그런데 그 집 대문 앞에는 나사로라 하는 거지 하나가 헌데 투성이 몸으로 누워서, 21 그 부자의 상에서 떨어지는 부스러기로 배를 채우려고 하였다. 개들까지도 와서, 그의 헌데를 핥았다. 22 그러다가, 그 거지는 죽어서 천사들에게 이끌려 가서 아브라함의 품에 안기었고, 그 부자도 죽어서 묻히었다. 23 부자가 t지옥에서 고통을 당하다가 눈을 들어서 보니, 멀리 아브라함이 보이고, 그의 품에 나사로가 있었다. 24 그래서 그가 소리를 질러 말하기를 ‘아브라함 조상님, 나를 불쌍히 여겨 주십시오. 나사로를 보내서, 그 손가락 끝에 물을 찍어서 내 혀를 시원하게 하도록 하여 주십시오. 나는 이 불 속에서 몹시 고통을 당하고 있습니다’ 하였다. 25 그러나 아브라함이 말하였다. ‘얘야, 되돌아보아라. 네가 살아 있을 동안에 너는 온갖 호사를 다 누렸지만, 나사로는 온갖 괴로움을 다 겪었다. 그래서 그는 지금 여기서 위로를 받고, 너는 고통을 받는다. 26 그뿐만 아니라, 우리와 너희 사이에는 큰 구렁텅이가 가로 놓여 있어서, 여기에서 너희에게로 건너가고자 해도 갈 수 없고, 거기에서 우리에게로 건너올 수도 없다.’ 27 부자가 말하였다. ‘조상님, 소원입니다. 그를 내 아버지 집으로 보내 주십시오. 28 나는 형제가 다섯이나 있습니다. 제발 나사로가 가서 그들에게 경고하여, 그들만은 고통 받는 이 곳에 오지 않게 하여 주십시오.’ 29 그러나 아브라함이 말하였다. ‘그들에게는 모세와 예언자들이 있으니, 그들의 말을 들어야 한다.’ 30 부자는 대답하였다. ‘아닙니다. 아브라함 조상님, 죽은 사람들 가운데서 누가 살아나서 그들에게로 가야만, 그들이 회개할 것입니다.’ 31 아브라함이 그에게 대답하였다. ‘그들이 모세와 예언자들의 말을 듣지 않는다면, 죽은 사람들 가운데서 누가 살아난다고 해도, 그들은 믿지 않을 것이다.’”

LUKE 16

A Dishonest Manager

1 Jesus said to his disciples:
A rich man once had a manager to take care of his business. But he was told that his manager was wasting money.

2 So the rich man called him in and said, “What is this I hear about you? Tell me what you have done! You are no longer going to work for me.”
3 The manager said to himself, “What shall I do now that my master is going to fire me? I can't dig ditches, and I'm ashamed to beg.

4 I know what I'll do, so that people will welcome me into their homes after I've lost my job.”

5 Then one by one he called in the people who were in debt to his master. He asked the first one, “How much do you owe my master?”

6 “A hundred barrels of olive oil,” the man answered.
So the manager said, “Take your bill and sit down and quickly write ‘50.’ ”

7 The manager asked someone else who was in debt to his master, “How much do you owe?”
“A thousand sackst of wheat,” the man replied.
The manager said, “Take your bill and write ‘800.’ ”

8 The master praised his dishonest manager for looking out for himself so well. That's how it is! The people of this world look out for themselves better than the people who belong to the light.
9  t My disciples, I tell you to use wicked wealth to make friends for yourselves. Then when it is gone, you will be welcomed into an eternal home. 10 Anyone who can be trusted in little matters can also be trusted in important matters. But anyone who is dishonest in little matters will be dishonest in important matters. 11 If you cannot be trusted with this wicked wealth, who will trust you with true wealth? 12 And if you cannot be trusted with what belongs to someone else, who will give you something that will be your own?

13 t You cannot be the slave of two masters. You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than to the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Some Sayings of Jesus

(Matthew 11.12,13; 5.31,32; Mark 10.11,12)

14 The Pharisees really loved money. So when they heard what Jesus said, they made fun of him.

15 But Jesus told them:
You are always making yourselves look good, but God sees what is in your heart. The things that most people think are important are worthless as far as God is concerned.
16  t Until the time of John the Baptist, people had to obey the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets.t But since God's kingdom has been preached, everyone is trying hard to get in.

17 t Heaven and earth will disappear before the smallest letter of the Law does.

18  t It is a terrible sint for a man to divorce his wife and marry another woman. It is also a terrible sin for a man to marry a divorced woman.

Lazarus and the Rich Man

19 There was once a rich man who wore expensive clothes and every day ate the best food. 20 But a poor beggar named Lazarus was brought to the gate of the rich man's house. 21 He was happy just to eat the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. His body was covered with sores, and dogs kept coming up to lick them.

22 t The poor man died, and angels took him to the place of honor next to Abraham.t
The rich man also died and was buried. 23 t He went to hellt and was suffering terribly. When he looked up and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side,

24 he said to Abraham, “Have pity on me! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and touch my tongue. I'm suffering terribly in this fire.”
25 Abraham answered, “My friend, remember that while you lived, you had everything good, and Lazarus had everything bad. Now he is happy, and you are in pain.

26 And besides, there is a deep ditch between us, and no one from either side can cross over.”
27 But the rich man said, “Abraham, then please send Lazarus to my father's home.

28 Let him warn my five brothers, so they won't come to this horrible place.”

29 Abraham answered, “Your brothers can read what Moses and the prophetst wrote. They should pay attention to that.”

30 Then the rich man said, “No, that's not enough! If only someone from the dead would go to them, they would listen and turn to God.”
31 So Abraham said, “If they won't pay attention to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even to someone who comes back from the dead.”
