อุปมาเรื่องพ่อบ้านที่ไม่ซื่อสัตย์
1 พระเยซูตรัสกับพวกสาวกของพระองค์ว่า “เศรษฐีคนหนึ่งมีพ่อบ้าน มีคนมาฟ้องเศรษฐีว่าพ่อบ้านคนนั้นกำลังผลาญสมบัติของท่าน 2 เศรษฐีจึงเรียกพ่อบ้านมา บอกกับเขาว่า ‘เรื่องที่เราได้ยินเกี่ยวกับเจ้านั้นเป็นอย่างไรกัน? เอาบัญชีพ่อบ้านของเจ้ามา เพราะว่าเจ้าจะเป็นพ่อบ้านต่อไปไม่ได้’ 3 พ่อบ้านคนนั้นจึงคิดในใจว่า ‘ข้าจะทำอะไรดี เพราะข้ากำลังจะถูกนายถอดออกจากหน้าที่แล้ว? จะไปขุดดินก็ไม่มีแรง จะไปขอทานก็อายเขา 4 ข้ารู้แล้วว่าจะทำอะไรดี เพื่อว่าเมื่อข้าถูกถอดจากหน้าที่แล้ว คนอื่นๆ จะยังรับข้าไว้ในบ้านของเขา’ 5 คนนั้นจึงเรียกลูกหนี้ของนายมาทีละคน แล้วถามคนแรกว่า ‘ท่านเป็นหนี้นายของข้าพเจ้าเท่าไหร่?’ 6 เขาตอบว่า ‘น้ำมันร้อยถัง’ พ่อบ้านจึงบอกเขาว่า ‘ไปเอาบัญชีของท่านมา นั่งลงแล้วแก้เป็นห้าสิบถังเร็วๆ เข้า’ 7 แล้วเขาก็ถามอีกคนหนึ่งว่า ‘ท่านเป็นหนี้เท่าไหร่?’ เขาตอบว่า ‘ข้าวสาลีร้อยกระสอบ’ พ่อบ้านจึงบอกว่า ‘เอาบัญชีของท่านมาแก้เป็นแปดสิบ’ 8 แล้วเศรษฐีก็ชมพ่อบ้านอสัตย์นั้น เพราะเขาทำด้วยความฉลาด เพราะว่าลูกของยุคนี้รู้จักใช้ความฉลาดกับคนในสมัยของพวกเขามากกว่าลูกของความสว่าง 9 เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า จงทำตัวให้มีมิตรสหายด้วยเงินทองอธรรม เพื่อที่ว่าเมื่อสูญเสียมันไปแล้ว เขาจะได้ต้อนรับท่านไว้ในที่อาศัยตลอดไป
10 “คนที่ซื่อสัตย์ในของเล็กน้อยจะซื่อสัตย์ในของมากด้วย และคนที่ไม่ซื่อสัตย์ในของเล็กน้อย จะไม่ซื่อสัตย์ในของมากเช่นกัน 11 ดังนั้นถ้าพวกท่านยังไม่ซื่อสัตย์ในเงินทองอธรรมแล้ว ใครจะมอบของเที่ยงแท้ให้แก่ท่าน? 12 และถ้าพวกท่านยังไม่ซื่อสัตย์ในสิ่งที่เป็นของคนอื่นแล้ว ใครจะมอบสิ่งที่เป็นของท่านเองให้แก่ท่าน? 13 ไม่มีผู้ใดเป็นข้าสองเจ้าบ่าวสองนายได้ เพราะจะเกลียดชังนายคนหนึ่งและจะรักนายอีกคนหนึ่ง หรือจะนับถือนายคนหนึ่งและจะดูหมิ่นนายอีกคนหนึ่ง ท่านจะรับใช้พระเจ้าและเงินทองพร้อมกันไม่ได้”t
ธรรมบัญญัติและแผ่นดินของพระเจ้า

14 พวกฟาริสีที่เห็นแก่เงินเมื่อได้ยินคำเหล่านั้นแล้วจึงเยาะเย้ยพระองค์ 15 แต่พระองค์ตรัสกับพวกเขาว่า “พวกท่านทำทีดูเป็นคนชอบธรรมต่อหน้ามนุษย์ แต่พระเจ้าทรงทราบจิตใจของท่าน เพราะว่าสิ่งที่มีคุณค่าสูงในหมู่มนุษย์ ก็เป็นที่เกลียดชังในสายพระเนตรของพระเจ้า
16 “มีเพียงtธรรมบัญญัติและผู้เผยพระวจนะจนกระทั่งยอห์นมาปรากฏ ตั้งแต่นั้นมาเขาประกาศข่าวประเสริฐเรื่องแผ่นดินของพระเจ้า และทุกคนก็พยายามแย่งชิงกันเข้าไปในแผ่นดินนั้นt 17 ถึงกระนั้น ฟ้าและดินจะล่วงไปก็ยังง่ายกว่าขีด ขีดหนึ่งในธรรมบัญญัติหลุดหายไปt
18 “ผู้ที่หย่าภรรยาของตนแล้วไปมีภรรยาใหม่ก็ผิดประเวณี และคนที่รับหญิงซึ่งสามีหย่าแล้วมาเป็นภรรยาของตนก็ผิดประเวณีด้วยt
เศรษฐีกับลาซารัส
19 “มีเศรษฐีคนหนึ่งนุ่งห่มผ้าสีม่วงและผ้าป่านเนื้อดี อยู่อย่างรื่นเริงฟุ่มเฟือยทุกๆ วัน 20 และมีคนยากจนคนหนึ่งชื่อลาซารัส เป็นแผลทั้งตัว นอนอยู่ที่ประตูรั้วบ้านของเศรษฐี 21 เขาอยากจะกินเศษอาหารที่ตกจากโต๊ะของเศรษฐีคนนั้น แม้สุนัขก็มาเลียแผลของเขา 22 ต่อมาคนยากจนนั้นตาย และพวกทูตสวรรค์นำเขาไปอยู่กับอับราฮัม ส่วนเศรษฐีคนนั้นก็ตายด้วย และถูกฝังไว้ 23 และเมื่อเขาเป็นทุกข์ทรมานอยู่ในแดนคนตาย เขาแหงนหน้าดู เห็นอับราฮัมอยู่แต่ไกล และลาซารัสก็อยู่กับท่าน 24 เศรษฐีจึงร้องว่า ‘อับราฮัมบิดาเจ้าข้า ขอเมตตาข้าพเจ้าเถิด ขอใช้ลาซารัสเอาปลายนิ้วจุ่มน้ำมาแตะลิ้นของข้าพเจ้าให้เย็น เพราะข้าพเจ้าต้องทุกข์ระทมอยู่ในเปลวไฟนี้’ 25 แต่อับราฮัมตอบว่า ‘ลูกเอ๋ย เจ้าจงระลึกว่าเมื่อเจ้ายังมีชีวิตอยู่ เจ้าได้สิ่งที่ดีสำหรับตัว และลาซารัสได้แต่สิ่งเลว เวลานี้เขาได้รับการปลอบโยนแล้ว แต่เจ้าได้รับแต่ความทุกข์ระทม 26 ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น ระหว่างเรากับพวกเจ้าก็มีเหวใหญ่ตั้งขวางอยู่ เพื่อว่าถ้าใครอยากจะข้ามจากที่นี่ไปถึงพวกเจ้าก็ทำไม่ได้ หรือถ้าจะข้ามจากที่นั่นมาถึงเราก็ทำไม่ได้’ 27 เศรษฐีคนนั้นจึงกล่าวว่า ‘ถ้าอย่างนั้น บิดาเจ้าข้า ขอท่านใช้ลาซารัสไปที่บ้านบิดาของข้าพเจ้า 28 เพราะว่าข้าพเจ้ามีน้องชายห้าคน ให้ลาซารัสไปเตือนพวกเขา เพื่อไม่ให้เขาต้องมาอยู่ในที่ทุกข์ทรมานแห่งนี้’ 29 แต่อับราฮัมตอบว่า ‘เขามีโมเสสและพวกผู้เผยพระวจนะแล้ว ให้พวกเขาฟังคนเหล่านั้นเถิด’ 30 เศรษฐีคนนั้นจึงกล่าวว่า ‘ไม่ได้ อับราฮัมบิดาเจ้าข้า แต่ถ้ามีใครสักคนหนึ่งจากพวกคนตายไปหาพวกเขา เขาคงจะกลับใจใหม่’ 31 อับราฮัมจึงตอบเขาว่า ‘ถ้าพวกเขาไม่ฟังโมเสสและพวกผู้เผยพระวจนะ แม้จะมีใครเป็นขึ้นมาจากตาย เขาก็ยังจะไม่เชื่อ’ ”
Luke 16
1 And he said also unto the disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he was wasting his goods.2 And he called him, and said unto him, What is this that I hear of thee? render the account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward.3 And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.5 And calling to him each one of his lord’s debtors, he said to the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?6 And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bond, and sit down quickly and write fifty.7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. He saith unto him, Take thy bond, and write fourscore.8 And his lord commended the unrighteous steward because he had done wisely: for the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of the light.9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends by means of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when it shall fail, they may receive you into the eternal tabernacles.10 He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much.11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.14 And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him.15 And he said unto them, Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.16 The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man entereth violently into it.17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall.18 Every one that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth one that is put away from a husband committeth adultery.19 Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day:20 and a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores,21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table; yea, even the dogs come and licked his sores.22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.23 And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted and thou art in anguish.26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us.27 And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house;28 for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.29 But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.
