ルカによる福音書 16

一六

1 　さてイエスは、弟子たちにも話をなさいました。
「ある金持ちが計理士を雇いました。　ところが、この計理士はずる賢い男で数字をごまかしている、といううわさを聞きました。
2 　さっそく金持ちは彼を呼びつけ、きつく言い渡しました。　『帳簿をごまかしているそうだな。　もっぱらのうわさだぞ。　なんてことだ。　こうなった以上、やめてもらおう。　報告書を整理しておくんだな。』
3 　計理士は、はたと考え込みました。　『さて、どうしたものか。　首になるのは時間の問題だ。　日雇いをやるほどの力もないし、かといって、まさかこじきをするってわけにも......、だめだ、とてもプライドが許さない......。　4 待てよ。　そうだ、こうしよう。　これなら、首になっても大丈夫。　みんなが面倒を見てくれることまちがいなしだ。』
5 　どうしたかと言うと、彼は雇い主からお金を借りている人を一人一人呼び出して、話し合ったのです。　まず、最初の人とはこんなぐあいに。　『主人にいくら借りがありますか。』　6 『オリーブ油三千五百リットルです。』『そうですか。　えーと、これが証文ですね。　さあ破って、破って。　代わりに、その半分を借りたという証文を書くんですよ。』
7 　次の人にも同じように。　『あなたの借りはどのくらいですか。』『小麦三十トンです。』『いいでしょう。　これが証文......。　じゃあ、新しく二十五トンの証文を書いてください。　これと取り替えてあげるから。』
8 　この抜け目のなさには、さすがの金持ちも舌を巻き、うまいやり方だ、とほめないわけには、いきませんでした。　確かに、この世の人々のほうが、神を信じる者たちよりずっと抜け目がないのです。　9 不正の富を利用してでも、親しい友達をつくりなさい。　そうしておけば、富がなくなった時、親切にしてやった人たちが、永遠の天の住まいに迎え入れてくれるでしょう。　10 小さなことに忠実な人は、大きなことにも忠実です。　小さなことに不忠実な人は、大きな責任を与えられても、忠実に果たすことはできません。　11 この世の富も任せられない人に、どうして、天にある、ほんとうの富を任せることができるでしょう。　12 他人の富に忠実でなかったら、あなたがたは自分の富さえ、任せてもらえないのです。
13 　だれも、二人の主人に仕えることはできません。　一方を憎んで他方に忠実であるか、あるいは、一方を重んじて他方は軽んじるようになるからです。　神とお金の両方に仕えることはできないのです。」
14 　何よりもお金に目のないパリサイ人たちは、当然のことながら、この話を聞いて、イエスをあざけりました。
15 　そんな彼らに、イエスは、おっしゃいました。　「あなたがたは、人前では、いかにも上品でうやうやしい態度をとっています。　しかし神は、あなたがたの悪い心をお見通しです。　いくら人の目をごまかし、賞賛を受けても、神には憎まれるのです。　16 バプテスマのヨハネが現われて教えを説き始めるまでは、モーセの律法と預言者たちのことば（旧約聖書）が、あなたがたの指針でした。　しかしヨハネ以後は、神の国のすばらしい知らせが宣べ伝えられ、大ぜいの人がむりにでも入ろうと、押し合いへし合いしています。　17 だからといって、おきてのどんな細かい部分も、効力を失ったというわけではありません。　たとい天地が滅びようと、神のおきてはびくともしないのです。
18 　だから、妻を離縁してほかの女と結婚する者は、姦通罪を犯すことになり、離縁された女と結婚する者も同罪なのです。」
19 　イエスは話を続けられました。
「金持ちがいました。　きらびやかな服を着、ぜいたくざんまいの暮らしでした。　20 ある日のこと、その家の門前に、ひどい病気にかかったラザロというこじきが横になっていました。　21 金持ちの家の食べ残りでもいい、とにかく食べ物にありつきたいと思っていたのです。　かわいそうに、犬までが、おできだらけのラザロの体をなめ回します。　22 やがて、このこじきは死にました。　御使いたちに連れられて行ったのは、生前神を信じ、正しい生活を送った人たちのところでした。　そこで、アブラハムといっしょにいることになったのです。　そのうち、金持ちも死んで葬られましたが、　23 彼のたましいは地獄に落ちました。　苦しみあえぎながら、ふと目を上げると、はるかかなたに、アブラハムといっしょにいるラザロの姿が見えます。
24 　金持ちはあらんかぎりの声を張り上げました。　『アブラハム様ーっ！　どうぞお助けを。　お、お願いでございまーす。　ラザロをよこし、水に浸した指先で、ほんのちょっとでも舌を冷やさせてください。　この炎の中では、もう苦しくて、苦しくてたまりません。』
25 　しかし、アブラハムは答えました。　『思い出してもみろ。　おまえは生きている間、ほしい物はなんでも手に入れ、思うままの生活をした。　だがラザロはどうだ。　全くの無一物だった。　それで今は反対に、ラザロは慰められ、おまえは苦しむのだ。　26 それに、そちらへ行こうにも、間に大きな溝があって、とても行き来はできない。』
27 　『ああ、アブラハム様。　それならせめて、ラザロを私の父の家にやってください。　28 まだ五人の兄弟がいるのです。　彼らだけは、こんな目に会わせたくありません。　どうぞ、この恐ろしい苦しみの場所があることを、教えてやってください。』
29 　『それは聖書が何度も警告してきたことではないかね。　その気があれば、いつでも読めるはずだよ。』
30 　金持ちはあきらめません。　『でも、アブラハム様。　彼は、聖書を読みたがらないのでございます。　ですが、もしだれかが死人の中から遣わされて行ったら、彼らも罪深い生活から立ち直れるでしょう。』
31 　アブラハムはきっぱり言いきりました。　『モーセと預言者たちのことばに耳を貸さないのなら、だれかが生き返って話したところで同じことだ。　彼らは聞こうとしないだろう。』」

Luke 16

1 And he said also unto the disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he was wasting his goods.2 And he called him, and said unto him, What is this that I hear of thee? render the account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward.3 And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, seeing that my lord taketh away the stewardship from me? I have not strength to dig; to beg I am ashamed.4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.5 And calling to him each one of his lord’s debtors, he said to the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?6 And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bond, and sit down quickly and write fifty.7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. He saith unto him, Take thy bond, and write fourscore.8 And his lord commended the unrighteous steward because he had done wisely: for the sons of this world are for their own generation wiser than the sons of the light.9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends by means of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when it shall fail, they may receive you into the eternal tabernacles.10 He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much.11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.14 And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him.15 And he said unto them, Ye are they that justify yourselves in the sight of men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.16 The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man entereth violently into it.17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tittle of the law to fall.18 Every one that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth one that is put away from a husband committeth adultery.19 Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day:20 and a certain beggar named Lazarus was laid at his gate, full of sores,21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table; yea, even the dogs come and licked his sores.22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: and the rich man also died, and was buried.23 And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted and thou art in anguish.26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that they that would pass from hence to you may not be able, and that none may cross over from thence to us.27 And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house;28 for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.29 But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.
