مَثَل مباشر زیرک

1 آنگاه عیسی به شاگردان خود گفت: «توانگری را مباشری بود. چون شکایت به او رسید که مباشر اموال او را بر‌‌باد می‌دهد،2 وی را فراخواند و پرسید: ”این چیست که دربارۀ تو می‌شنوم؟ حساب خود بازپس ده که دیگر مباشر من نتوانی بود.“3 مباشر با خود اندیشید: ”چه کنم؟ ارباب می‌خواهد از کار برکنارم کند. یارای زمین‌کندن ندارم و از گدایی نیز عار دارم.4 دانستم چه باید کرد تا چون از مباشرت برکنار شدم، کسانی باشند که مرا در خانه‌هایشان بپذیرند.“5 پس، بدهکاران ارباب خویش را یک به یک به حضور فراخواند. از اوّلی پرسید: ”چقدر به سرورم بدهکاری؟“6 پاسخ داد: ”صد خمرهt روغن زیتون.“ گفت: ”بگیر، این حساب توست. بنشین و رقم آن را عوض کن و بنویس پنجاه خمره!“7 سپس از دوّمی پرسید: ”تو چقدر بدهکاری؟“ پاسخ داد: ”صد خروارt گندم.“ گفت: ”بگیر، این حساب توست. رقم آن را عوض کن و بنویس هشتاد خروار!“8 ارباب، مباشرِ متقلب را تحسین کرد، زیرا عاقلانه عمل کرده بود؛ چرا که فرزندان این عصرt در مناسبات خود با همعصران خویش از فرزندان نور عاقلترند.9 به شما می‌گویم که مال این دنیای فاسد را برای یافتن دوستان صرف کنید تا چون از آن مال اثری نماند، شما را در خانه‌هایt جاودانی بپذیرند.10 «آن که در امور کوچک امین باشد، در امور بزرگ نیز امین خواهد بود، و آن که در امور کوچک امین نباشد، در امور بزرگ نیز امین نخواهد بود.11 پس اگر در به‌کار بردن مال این دنیای فاسد امین نباشید، کیست که مال حقیقی را به شما بسپارد؟12 و اگر در به‌کار بردن مال دیگری امین نباشید، کیست که مال خود شما را به شما بدهد؟13 هیچ غلامی دو ارباب را خدمت نتواند کرد، زیرا یا از یکی نفرت خواهد داشت و به دیگری مهر خواهد ورزید، و یا سرسپردۀ یکی خواهد بود و دیگری را خوار خواهد شمرد. نمی‌توانید هم بندۀ خدا باشید، هم بندۀ پول.»14 فَریسیانِ پولدوست با شنیدن این سخنان، عیسی را به ریشخند گرفتند.15 به آنها گفت: «شما آن کسانید که خویشتن را به مردم پارسا می‌نمایید، امّا خدا از دلتان آگاه است. آنچه مردم ارج بسیارش نهند، در نظر خدا ناپسند است!16 «تورات و انبیا تا زمان یحیی بود. از آن پس، به پادشاهی خدا بشارت داده می‌شود و هر کس به جَبر و زور راه خود بدان می‌گشاید.t17 با این حال، آسانتر است آسمان و زمین از میان برود تا اینکه نقطه‌ای از تورات فرو‌افتد!18 «هر‌که زن خویش را طلاق دهد و زنی دیگر اختیار کند، زنا کرده است، و نیز هر که زنی طلاق داده شده را به زنی بگیرد، مرتکب زنا شده است.»

توانگر و ایلعازَر فقیر

19 «توانگری بود که جامه از ارغوان و کتان لطیف به تن می‌کرد و همه‌روزه به خوشگذرانی مشغول بود.20 فقیری ایلعازَر نام را بر درِ خانۀ او می‌نهادند که بدنش پوشیده از جراحت بود.21 ایلعازَر آرزو داشت با خرده‌های غذا که از سفرۀ آن توانگر فرو‌می‌افتاد، خود را سیر کند. حتی سگان نیز می‌آمدند و زخمهایش را می‌لیسیدند.22 باری، آن فقیر مُرد و فرشتگان او را به جوار ابراهیم بردند. توانگر نیز مُرد و او را دفن کردند.23 امّا چون چشم در جهان مردگان گشود، خود را در عذاب یافت. از دور، ابراهیم را دید و ایلعازَر را در جوارش.24 پس با صدای بلند گفت: ”ای پدر من ابراهیم، بر من ترحم کن و ایلعازَر را بفرست تا نوک انگشت خود را در آب تَر کند و زبانم را خنک سازد، زیرا در این آتش عذاب می‌کشم.“25 امّا ابراهیم پاسخ داد: ”ای فرزند، به‌یاد ‌‌آر که تو در زندگی، از هر چیز خوب بهره‌مند شدی، حال آنکه چیزهای بد نصیب ایلعازَر شد. اکنون او اینجا در آسایش است و تو در عذاب.26 از این گذشته، بین ما و شما پرتگاهی هست؛ آنان که بخواهند از اینجا نزد تو آیند نتوانند، و آنان نیز که آنجایند نتوانند نزد ما آیند.“27 گفت: ”پس، ای پدر، تمنا اینکه ایلعازَر را به خانۀ پدرم بفرستی،28 زیرا مرا پنج برادر است. او را بفرست تا برادرانم را هشدار دهد، مبادا آنان نیز به این مکان عذاب درافتند.“29 ابراهیم پاسخ داد: ”آنها موسی و انبیا را دارند، پس به سخنان ایشان گوش فرادهند.“30 گفت: ”نه، ای پدر ما ابراهیم، بلکه اگر کسی از مردگان نزد آنها برود، توبه خواهند کرد.“31 ابراهیم به او گفت: ”اگر به موسی و انبیا گوش نسپارند، حتی اگر کسی از مردگان زنده شود، مجاب نخواهند شد.“‌»

LUKE 16

A Dishonest Manager

1 Jesus said to his disciples:
A rich man once had a manager to take care of his business. But he was told that his manager was wasting money.

2 So the rich man called him in and said, “What is this I hear about you? Tell me what you have done! You are no longer going to work for me.”
3 The manager said to himself, “What shall I do now that my master is going to fire me? I can't dig ditches, and I'm ashamed to beg.

4 I know what I'll do, so that people will welcome me into their homes after I've lost my job.”

5 Then one by one he called in the people who were in debt to his master. He asked the first one, “How much do you owe my master?”

6 “A hundred barrels of olive oil,” the man answered.
So the manager said, “Take your bill and sit down and quickly write ‘50.’ ”

7 The manager asked someone else who was in debt to his master, “How much do you owe?”
“A thousand sackst of wheat,” the man replied.
The manager said, “Take your bill and write ‘800.’ ”

8 The master praised his dishonest manager for looking out for himself so well. That's how it is! The people of this world look out for themselves better than the people who belong to the light.
9  t My disciples, I tell you to use wicked wealth to make friends for yourselves. Then when it is gone, you will be welcomed into an eternal home. 10 Anyone who can be trusted in little matters can also be trusted in important matters. But anyone who is dishonest in little matters will be dishonest in important matters. 11 If you cannot be trusted with this wicked wealth, who will trust you with true wealth? 12 And if you cannot be trusted with what belongs to someone else, who will give you something that will be your own?

13 t You cannot be the slave of two masters. You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than to the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Some Sayings of Jesus

15 But Jesus told them:
You are always making yourselves look good, but God sees what is in your heart. The things that most people think are important are worthless as far as God is concerned.
16  t Until the time of John the Baptist, people had to obey the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets.t But since God's kingdom has been preached, everyone is trying hard to get in.

17 t Heaven and earth will disappear before the smallest letter of the Law does.

18  t It is a terrible sint for a man to divorce his wife and marry another woman. It is also a terrible sin for a man to marry a divorced woman.

Lazarus and the Rich Man

22 t The poor man died, and angels took him to the place of honor next to Abraham.t
The rich man also died and was buried. 23 t He went to hellt and was suffering terribly. When he looked up and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side,

24 he said to Abraham, “Have pity on me! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and touch my tongue. I'm suffering terribly in this fire.”
25 Abraham answered, “My friend, remember that while you lived, you had everything good, and Lazarus had everything bad. Now he is happy, and you are in pain.

26 And besides, there is a deep ditch between us, and no one from either side can cross over.”
27 But the rich man said, “Abraham, then please send Lazarus to my father's home.

28 Let him warn my five brothers, so they won't come to this horrible place.”

29 Abraham answered, “Your brothers can read what Moses and the prophetst wrote. They should pay attention to that.”

30 Then the rich man said, “No, that's not enough! If only someone from the dead would go to them, they would listen and turn to God.”
31 So Abraham said, “If they won't pay attention to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even to someone who comes back from the dead.”
