Lukas 18

Likninga om enkja og dommaren

1  t Han fortalde dei ei likning om at dei alltid skulle be og ikkje mista motet:
2 «I ein by var det ein dommar som ikkje hadde ærefrykt for Gud og ikkje tok omsyn til noko menneske. 3 I same byen var det ei enkje. Ho kom gong på gong til han og sa: ‘Hjelp meg i saka med motparten min, så eg kan få min rett.’ 4 Lenge ville han ikkje, men til slutt sa han med seg sjølv: ‘Endå eg verken har ærefrykt for Gud eller tek omsyn til noko menneske,

5 t vil eg hjelpa denne enkja til retten hennar, sidan ho plagar meg slik, elles endar det vel med at ho flyg like i synet på meg.’»
6 Og Herren sa: «Høyr kva denne uærlege dommaren seier! 7 Skulle så ikkje Gud hjelpa sine utvalde til retten deira, dei som ropar til han dag og natt? Er han sein til å hjelpa dei?

8 Eg seier dykk: Han skal raskt sørgja for at dei får sin rett. Men når Menneskesonen kjem, skal han då finna trua på jorda?»

Likninga om farisearen og tollaren

9  t Til nokre som stolte på at dei sjølve var rettferdige, og såg ned på alle andre, fortalde Jesus denne likninga:
10  t «To menn gjekk opp til tempelet for å be. Den eine var farisear og den andre tollar. 11 Farisearen stilte seg opp for seg sjølv og bad slik: ‘Eg takkar deg, Gud, fordi eg ikkje er som andre menneske, dei som svindlar, gjer urett og bryt ekteskapet, eller som den tollaren der. 12 t Eg fastar to gonger i veka og gjev tiend av alt eg tener.’

13 tt Tollaren stod langt unna; han ville ikkje eingong lyfta auga mot himmelen, men slo seg for bringa og sa: ‘Gud, ver meg syndar nådig!’

14  t Eg seier dykk: Tollaren gjekk heim rettferdig for Gud, den andre ikkje. For kvar den som set seg sjølv høgt, skal setjast lågt, og den som set seg sjølv lågt, skal setjast høgt.»

Jesus og borna

(Matt 19,13–15; Mark 10,13–16)

15 Dei bar òg spedborna til Jesus for at han skulle røra ved dei. Læresveinane såg det og ville visa dei bort. 16 Men Jesus kalla dei til seg og sa: «Lat småborna koma til meg, og hindra dei ikkje! For Guds rike høyrer slike til.

17 t Sanneleg, eg seier dykk: Den som ikkje tek imot Guds rike slik som eit lite barn, skal ikkje koma inn i det.»

Jesus og den rike mannen

(Matt 19,16–30; Mark 10,17–31)

18  t Ein som var medlem av Rådet, kom og spurde han: «Gode meister, kva skal eg gjera så eg kan arva evig liv?» 19 Men Jesus sa til han: «Kvifor kallar du meg god? Ingen er god utan éin – det er Gud! 20 t Boda kjenner du: Du skal ikkje bryta ekteskapet, du skal ikkje slå i hel, du skal ikkje stela, du skal ikkje vitna falskt, du skal æra far din og mor di. » 21 Han svara: «Alt dette har eg halde frå eg var ung.» 22 t Då Jesus høyrde det, sa han: «Eitt manglar deg enno: Sel alt det du eig, og del ut til dei fattige. Då skal du få ein skatt i himmelen. Kom så og følg meg!»

23 Mannen vart sorgfull då han høyrde det, for han var svært rik.
24  t t Jesus såg at han vart sorgfull, og sa: «Kor vanskeleg det er for dei som eig mykje, å koma inn i Guds rike! 25 Det er lettare for ein kamel å gå gjennom eit nålauge enn for ein rik å koma inn i Guds rike.» 26 «Kven kan då bli frelst?» spurde dei som høyrde på.

27 t Han svara: «Det som er umogleg for menneske, er mogleg for Gud.»
28  t Då sa Peter: «Kva så med oss? Vi har gått ifrå alt vårt og følgt deg.» 29 Jesus svara: «Sanneleg, eg seier dykk: Ingen har skilt seg med hus eller kone eller sysken eller foreldre eller born for Guds rike skuld

30 utan at han skal få det att mangedobbelt i den tida som no er, og eit evig liv i den verda som kjem.»

Jesus talar tredje gongen om at han skal døy og stå opp att

(Matt 20,17–19; Mark 10,32–34)

31  t Så tok han dei tolv til sides og sa til dei: «Sjå, vi dreg opp til Jerusalem, og alt som profetane har skrive om Menneskesonen, skal oppfyllast. 32 t Han skal gjevast over til heidningane og bli spotta og mishandla og spytta på, 33 t og dei skal piska han og slå han i hel. Og tredje dagen skal han stå opp att.»

34 t Men dei skjøna ikkje noko av dette. Det var løynt for dei, og dei forstod ikkje det han sa.

Den blinde mannen ved Jeriko

(Matt 20,29–34; Mark 10,46–52)

35 Då Jesus nærma seg Jeriko, sat det ein blind mann ved vegen og tigga. 36 Mannen høyrde at det var mykje folk på vegen, og spurde kva som stod på. 37 Dei svara: «Det er Jesus frå Nasaret som kjem forbi.» 38 tt Då ropa han: «Jesus, du Davids son, miskunna deg over meg!» 39 Dei som gjekk føre, tala hardt til han og bad han teia, men han ropa berre endå høgare: «Du Davids son, miskunna deg over meg!» 40 Jesus stansa og bad dei leia den blinde til han. Og då han kom nærare, spurde Jesus han: 41 «Kva vil du eg skal gjera for deg?» «Herre, lat meg få synet att!» svara han. 42 t Jesus sa til han: «Du skal bli sjåande! Trua di har frelst deg.» 43 Straks kunne han sjå, og han gav seg i følgje med Jesus og lova Gud. Og alt folket som såg det, prisa Gud.

LUKE 18

A Widow and a Judge

1 Jesus told his disciples a story about how they should keep on praying and never give up:
2 In a town there was once a judge who didn't fear God or care about people.

3 In that same town there was a widow who kept going to the judge and saying, “Make sure that I get fair treatment in court.”
4 For a while the judge refused to do anything. Finally, he said to himself, “Even though I don't fear God or care about people,

5 I will help this widow because she keeps on bothering me. If I don't help her, she will wear me out.”

6 The Lord said:
Think about what that crooked judge said. 7 t Won't God protect his chosen ones who pray to him day and night? Won't he be concerned for them?

8 He will surely hurry and help them. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find on this earth anyone with faith?

A Pharisee //and a Tax Collector

9 Jesus told a story to some people who thought they were better than others and who looked down on everyone else:
10 Two men went into the temple to pray.t One was a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.t 11 The Pharisee stood over by himself and prayed, t “God, I thank you that I am not greedy, dishonest, and unfaithful in marriage like other people. And I am really glad that I am not like that tax collector over there.

12 I go without eatingt for two days a week, and I give you one tenth of all I earn.”

13  t The tax collector stood off at a distance and did not think he was good enough even to look up toward heaven. He was so sorry for what he had done that he pounded his chest and prayed, “God, have pity on me! I am such a sinner.”

14  t Then Jesus said, “When the two men went home, it was the tax collector and not the Pharisee who was pleasing to God. If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored.”

Jesus Blesses Little Children

(Matthew 19.13-15; Mark 10.13-16)

15 Some people brought their little children for Jesus to bless. But when his disciples saw them doing this, they told the people to stop bothering him. 16 So Jesus called the children over to him and said, “Let the children come to me! Don't try to stop them. People who are like these children belong to God's kingdom.t

17 You will never get into God's kingdom unless you enter it like a child!”

A Rich and Important Man

(Matthew 19.16-30; Mark 10.17-31)

18 An important man asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what must I do to have eternal life?”
19 Jesus said, “Why do you call me good? Only God is good.

20 t You know the commandments: ‘Be faithful in marriage. Do not murder. Do not steal. Do not tell lies about others. Respect your father and mother.’ ”

21 He told Jesus, “I have obeyed all these commandments since I was a young man.”
22 When Jesus heard this, he said, “There is one thing you still need to do. Go and sell everything you own! Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and be my follower.”

23 When the man heard this, he was sad, because he was very rich.
24 Jesus saw how sad the man was. So he said, “It's terribly hard for rich people to get into God's kingdom!

25 In fact, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into God's kingdom.”

26 When the crowd heard this, they asked, “How can anyone ever be saved?”

27 Jesus replied, “There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything.”

28 Peter said, “Remember, we left everything to be your followers!”
29 Jesus answered, “You can be sure that anyone who gives up home or wife or brothers or family or children because of God's kingdom

30 will be given much more in this life. And in the future world they will have eternal life.”

Jesus Again Tells about //His Death

(Matthew 20.17-19; Mark 10.32-34)

31 Jesus took the twelve apostles aside and said:
We are now on our way to Jerusalem. Everything that the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will happen there. 32 He will be handed over to foreigners, t who will make fun of him, mistreat him, and spit on him.

33 They will beat him and kill him, but three days later he will rise to life.

34 The apostles did not understand what Jesus was talking about. They could not understand, because the meaning of what he said was hidden from them.

Jesus Heals a Blind Beggar

(Matthew 20.29-34; Mark 10.46-52)

35 When Jesus was coming close to Jericho, a blind man sat begging beside the road. 36 The man heard the crowd walking by and asked what was happening. 37 Some people told him that Jesus from Nazareth was passing by. 38 So the blind man shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, t have pity on me!”

39 The people who were going along with Jesus told the man to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me!”
40 Jesus stopped and told some people to bring the blind man over to him. When the blind man was getting near, Jesus asked,

41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see!” he answered.
42 Jesus replied, “Look and you will see! Your eyes are healed because of your faith.” 43 At once the man could see, and he went with Jesus and started thanking God. When the crowds saw what happened, they praised God.
