Enkja og domaren
1 Han fortalde dei ei likning om at dei støtt skulle be og ikkje gje opp:t
2 I ein by var det ein domar som ikkje ottast Gud og ikkje hadde age for noko menneske. 3 I same byen var det ei enkje; ho kom gong på gong til han og sa: «Hjelp meg mot motparten min, så eg kan få min rett.» 4 Lenge ville han ikkje, men til slutt sa han med seg: «Endå eg ikkje ottast Gud og ikkje har age for noko menneske,
5 vil eg likevel hjelpa denne enkja til retten hennar, så som ho plagar meg, elles endar det vel med at ho legg til meg midt i synet.»t
6 Og Herren sa: «Høyr kva denne uærlege domaren seier! 7 Skulle så ikkje Gud hjelpa sine utvalde til retten deira, dei som ropar til han dag og natt? Er han sein til å hjelpa dei?
8 Eg seier dykk : Han skal syta for at dei får sin rett, og det snart. Men når Menneskesonen kjem, skal han då finna trua på jorda?»Farisearen og tollaren
9 Til nokre som trudde om seg sjølve at dei var rettferdige, og såg ned på alle andre, fortalde Jesus denne likninga:t
10 To menn gjekk opp til templet og ville be. Den eine var farisear og den andre tollar. t 11 Farisearen stelte seg opp og bad såleis: «Eg takkar deg, Gud, fordi eg ikkje er som andre menneske, som svindlar, gjer urett og bryt ekteskapet, eller òg som den tollaren der. 12 Eg fastar to gonger i veka og gjev tiend av alt eg tener.»
13 Tollaren stod langt nede; han ville ikkje eingong lyfta augo mot himmelen, men slo seg for bringa og sa: «Gud, ver meg syndaren nådig!»t t
14 Eg seier dykk: Tollaren gjekk heim rettferdig for Gud, den andre ikkje. For kvar den som set seg sjølv høgt, skal setjast lågt, og den som set seg sjølv lågt, skal setjast høgt.tJesus og borna
(Matt 19,13–15; Mark 10,13–16)
15 Dei bar òg spedborna til Jesus for at han skulle røra ved dei. Då læresveinane såg det, ville dei visa dei bort. 16 Men Jesus kalla dei til seg og sa: «Lat småborna koma til meg, og hindra dei ikkje! For Guds rike høyrer slike til.
17 Sanneleg, det seier eg dykk: Den som ikkje tek imot Guds rike som eit lite barn, skal ikkje koma inn i det.»tJesus og den rike mannen
(Matt 19,16–30; Mark 10,17–31)
18 Ein av rådsherrane kom og spurde han: «Gode meister, kva skal eg gjera, så eg kan få evig liv?» t 19 Men Jesus sa til han: «Kvifor kallar du meg god? Berre éin er god – det er Gud. 20 Boda kjenner du: Du skal ikkje bryta ekteskapet. Du skal ikkje slå i hel. Du skal ikkje stela. Du skal ikkje vitna rangt. Du skal æra far din og mor di.» t 21 Han svara: «Alt dette har eg halde frå eg var ung.» 22 Då Jesus høyrde det, sa han: «Eitt vantar deg: Sel alt det du eig, og del det ut til dei fattige. Då skal du få ein skatt i himmelen. Kom så og fylg meg!» t
23 Mannen vart sturen då han høyrde det, for han var svært rik.
24 Då Jesus såg det, sa han: «Kor vanskeleg det er for dei som eig mykje, å koma inn i Guds rike! t 25 Det er lettare for ein kamel å gå gjennom eit nålauga enn for ein rik å koma inn i Guds rike.» 26 «Kven kan då verta frelst?» sa dei som høyrde på.
27 Han svara: «Det som er umogeleg for menneske, er mogeleg for Gud.»t
28 Då sa Peter: «Kva så med oss, som har gått ifrå alt vårt og fylgt deg?» t 29 Jesus svara: «Sanneleg, det seier eg dykk: Ingen har skilt seg med hus eller kone eller sysken eller foreldre eller born for Guds rike skuld
30 utan at han skal få det att mangdobbelt her i tida, og i den verda som kjem, eit evig liv.»Jesus talar tredje gongen om at han skal døy og stå opp att
(Matt 20,17–19; Mark 10,32–34)
31 Så tok han dei tolv til sides og sa til dei: «Sjå, vi dreg opp til Jerusalem, og alt som profetane har skrive om Menneskesonen, skal oppfyllast. t 32 Han skal gjevast over til heidningane og spottast og mishandlast og spyttast på, t 33 og dei skal piska han og slå han i hel. Og tredje dagen skal han stå opp att.»
34 Men dei skjøna ikkje noko av dette. Det var løynt for dei, og dei forstod ikkje kva han meinte.tDen blinde mannen ved Jeriko
(Matt 20,29–34; Mark 10,46–52)
35 Då Jesus kom bort imot Jeriko, sat det ein blind mann attmed vegen og tigga. 36 Mannen høyrde at det gjekk mykje folk frametter, og spurde kva det var. 37 Dei svara at Jesus frå Nasaret fór framom. 38 Då ropa han: «Jesus, du Davids son, miskunna deg over meg!» t 39 Dei som gjekk føre, skjente på han og bad han teia, men han ropa berre endå høgare: «Du Davids son, miskunna deg over meg!» 40 Jesus stogga og bad dei leia den blinde til han. Og då han kom innåt, spurde Jesus han: 41 «Kva vil du at eg skal gjera for deg?» «Herre, lat meg få synet!» svara han. 42 Jesus sa til han: «No skal du få synet! Trua di har frelst deg.» t 43 Straks kunne han sjå, og han gav seg i lag med Jesus og lova Gud. Og alt folket som såg det, prisa Gud.
LUKE 18
A Widow and a Judge
1 Jesus told his disciples a story about how they should keep on praying and never give up:
2 In a town there was once a judge who didn't fear God or care about people.
3 In that same town there was a widow who kept going to the judge and saying, “Make sure that I get fair treatment in court.”
4 For a while the judge refused to do anything. Finally, he said to himself, “Even though I don't fear God or care about people,
5 I will help this widow because she keeps on bothering me. If I don't help her, she will wear me out.”
6 The Lord said:
Think about what that crooked judge said. 7 t Won't God protect his chosen ones who pray to him day and night? Won't he be concerned for them?
8 He will surely hurry and help them. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find on this earth anyone with faith?A Pharisee //and a Tax Collector
9 Jesus told a story to some people who thought they were better than others and who looked down on everyone else:
10 Two men went into the temple to pray.t One was a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.t 11 The Pharisee stood over by himself and prayed, t “God, I thank you that I am not greedy, dishonest, and unfaithful in marriage like other people. And I am really glad that I am not like that tax collector over there.
12 I go without eatingt for two days a week, and I give you one tenth of all I earn.”
13 t The tax collector stood off at a distance and did not think he was good enough even to look up toward heaven. He was so sorry for what he had done that he pounded his chest and prayed, “God, have pity on me! I am such a sinner.”
14 t Then Jesus said, “When the two men went home, it was the tax collector and not the Pharisee who was pleasing to God. If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored.”Jesus Blesses Little Children
(Matthew 19.13-15; Mark 10.13-16)
15 Some people brought their little children for Jesus to bless. But when his disciples saw them doing this, they told the people to stop bothering him. 16 So Jesus called the children over to him and said, “Let the children come to me! Don't try to stop them. People who are like these children belong to God's kingdom.t
17 You will never get into God's kingdom unless you enter it like a child!”A Rich and Important Man
(Matthew 19.16-30; Mark 10.17-31)
18 An important man asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what must I do to have eternal life?”
19 Jesus said, “Why do you call me good? Only God is good.
20 t You know the commandments: ‘Be faithful in marriage. Do not murder. Do not steal. Do not tell lies about others. Respect your father and mother.’ ”
21 He told Jesus, “I have obeyed all these commandments since I was a young man.”
22 When Jesus heard this, he said, “There is one thing you still need to do. Go and sell everything you own! Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and be my follower.”
23 When the man heard this, he was sad, because he was very rich.
24 Jesus saw how sad the man was. So he said, “It's terribly hard for rich people to get into God's kingdom!
25 In fact, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into God's kingdom.”
26 When the crowd heard this, they asked, “How can anyone ever be saved?”
27 Jesus replied, “There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything.”
28 Peter said, “Remember, we left everything to be your followers!”
29 Jesus answered, “You can be sure that anyone who gives up home or wife or brothers or family or children because of God's kingdom
30 will be given much more in this life. And in the future world they will have eternal life.”Jesus Again Tells about //His Death
(Matthew 20.17-19; Mark 10.32-34)
31 Jesus took the twelve apostles aside and said:
We are now on our way to Jerusalem. Everything that the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will happen there. 32 He will be handed over to foreigners, t who will make fun of him, mistreat him, and spit on him.
33 They will beat him and kill him, but three days later he will rise to life.
34 The apostles did not understand what Jesus was talking about. They could not understand, because the meaning of what he said was hidden from them.Jesus Heals a Blind Beggar
(Matthew 20.29-34; Mark 10.46-52)
35 When Jesus was coming close to Jericho, a blind man sat begging beside the road. 36 The man heard the crowd walking by and asked what was happening. 37 Some people told him that Jesus from Nazareth was passing by. 38 So the blind man shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, t have pity on me!”
39 The people who were going along with Jesus told the man to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me!”
40 Jesus stopped and told some people to bring the blind man over to him. When the blind man was getting near, Jesus asked,
41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see!” he answered.
42 Jesus replied, “Look and you will see! Your eyes are healed because of your faith.” 43 At once the man could see, and he went with Jesus and started thanking God. When the crowds saw what happened, they praised God.
