Lukasevangeliet 18

Liknelsen om änkan och domaren

1 Han gav dem en liknelse för att lära dem att alltid be och inte ge upp: 2 ”I en stad fanns det en domare som varken fruktade Gud eller brydde sig om människor. 3 I samma stad fanns en änka, och hon kom gång på gång till honom och sade: ’Låt mig få ut av min motpart vad jag har rätt till.’ 4 Till en början ville han inte, men sedan tänkte han: ’Inte för att jag fruktar Gud eller bryr mig om människor, 5 men så besvärlig som den där änkan är skall jag låta henne få ut vad hon har rätt till, annars pinar hon livet ur mig med sitt springande.’” 6 Och Herren sade: ”Där hör ni vad en orättfärdig domare säger. 7 Skulle då inte Gud låta sina utvalda få sin rätt, när de ropar till honom dag och natt? Skulle han låta dem vänta?

8 Jag säger er: han skall snart nog låta dem få sin rätt. Men Människosonen, skall han finna någon tro här på jorden när han kommer?”

Liknelsen om farisén och tullindrivaren

9 Till några som litade på att de själva var rättfärdiga och som såg ner på alla andra riktade han denna liknelse: 10 ”Två män gick upp till templet för att be, den ene var farisé, den andre tullindrivare. 11 Farisén ställde sig och bad för sig själv: ’Jag tackar dig, Gud, för att jag inte är som andra människor, tjuvar och bedragare och horkarlar, eller som tullindrivaren där. 12 Jag fastar två gånger i veckan, jag lämnar tionde av allt jag köper.’ 13 Men tullindrivaren stod avsides och vågade inte ens lyfta blicken mot himlen utan slog med händerna mot bröstet och sade: ’Gud, var nådig mot mig syndare.’

14 Jag säger er: det var han som gick hem rättfärdig, snarare än den andre. Ty den som upphöjer sig skall bli förödmjukad, men den som ödmjukar sig skall bli upphöjd.”

Jesus och barnen

15 Folk kom också fram med sina barn till honom för att han skulle röra vid dem. Lärjungarna fick se det och visade bort dem, 16 men Jesus kallade dem till sig och sade: ”Låt barnen komma hit till mig och hindra dem inte: Guds rike tillhör sådana som de.

17 Sannerligen, den som inte tar emot Guds rike som ett barn, han kommer aldrig dit in.”

En man som ägde mycket

18 En uppsatt person frågade honom: ”Gode mästare, vad skall jag göra för att vinna evigt liv?” 19 Jesus svarade: ”Varför kallar du mig god? Ingen är god utom Gud. 20 Du kan budorden: Du skall inte begå äktenskapsbrott , Du skall inte dräpa , Du skall inte stjäla , Du skall inte vittna falskt , Visa aktning för din far och din mor. ” 21 Mannen sade: ”Allt detta har jag hållit sedan jag var ung.” 22 Då sade Jesus: ”Ett återstår för dig: sälj allt du äger och dela ut åt de fattiga, så får du en skatt i himlen. Kom sedan och följ mig.” 23 När han hörde detta blev han bedrövad, för han var mycket rik. 24 Jesus såg att han var bedrövad och sade: ”Hur svårt är det inte för dem som har pengar att komma in i Guds rike! 25 Det är lättare för en kamel att komma igenom ett nålsöga än för en rik att komma in i Guds rike.” 26 De som hörde detta frågade: ”Vem kan då bli räddad?”

27 Han svarade: ”Det som är omöjligt för människor är möjligt för Gud.”
28 Petrus sade: ”Vi har ju lämnat allt vi ägde och följt dig.” 29 Då sade Jesus till dem: ”Sannerligen, var och en som för Guds rikes skull har lämnat hus eller hustru eller bröder eller föräldrar eller barn

30 skall få mångdubbelt igen redan här i tiden och sedan evigt liv i den kommande världen.”

Tredje förutsägelsen om Människosonens lidande

31 Han samlade de tolv omkring sig och sade till dem: ”Vi går nu upp till Jerusalem, och allt som profeterna har skrivit om Människosonen skall gå i uppfyllelse. 32 Han skall utlämnas åt hedningarna, de skall håna och skymfa honom och spotta på honom, 33 och de skall prygla honom och döda honom, och på den tredje dagen skall han uppstå.”

34 Av detta begrep lärjungarna ingenting. Vad han menade var fördolt för dem, och de kunde inte förstå vad han sade.

En blind man utanför Jeriko botas

35 När Jesus närmade sig Jeriko satt där en blind vid vägkanten och tiggde. 36 Han hörde en folkhop komma på vägen och frågade vad som stod på. 37 Man talade om för honom att Jesus från Nasaret gick förbi, 38 och då ropade han: ”Jesus, Davids son, förbarma dig över mig.” 39 De som gick främst sade åt honom att vara tyst, men han ropade ännu högre: ”Davids son, förbarma dig över mig.” 40 Jesus stannade och sade till dem att leda fram honom, och då mannen kom närmare frågade Jesus: 41 ”Vad vill du att jag skall göra för dig?” Han svarade: ”Herre, gör så att jag kan se igen.” 42 Jesus sade: ”Du kan se igen. Din tro har hjälpt dig.” 43 Genast kunde han se, och han följde med Jesus och prisade Gud. Och allt folket som såg det sjöng Guds lov.

LUKE 18

A Widow and a Judge

1 Jesus told his disciples a story about how they should keep on praying and never give up:
2 In a town there was once a judge who didn't fear God or care about people.

3 In that same town there was a widow who kept going to the judge and saying, “Make sure that I get fair treatment in court.”
4 For a while the judge refused to do anything. Finally, he said to himself, “Even though I don't fear God or care about people,

5 I will help this widow because she keeps on bothering me. If I don't help her, she will wear me out.”

6 The Lord said:
Think about what that crooked judge said. 7 t Won't God protect his chosen ones who pray to him day and night? Won't he be concerned for them?

8 He will surely hurry and help them. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find on this earth anyone with faith?

A Pharisee //and a Tax Collector

9 Jesus told a story to some people who thought they were better than others and who looked down on everyone else:
10 Two men went into the temple to pray.t One was a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.t 11 The Pharisee stood over by himself and prayed, t “God, I thank you that I am not greedy, dishonest, and unfaithful in marriage like other people. And I am really glad that I am not like that tax collector over there.

12 I go without eatingt for two days a week, and I give you one tenth of all I earn.”

13  t The tax collector stood off at a distance and did not think he was good enough even to look up toward heaven. He was so sorry for what he had done that he pounded his chest and prayed, “God, have pity on me! I am such a sinner.”

14  t Then Jesus said, “When the two men went home, it was the tax collector and not the Pharisee who was pleasing to God. If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored.”

Jesus Blesses Little Children

(Matthew 19.13-15; Mark 10.13-16)

15 Some people brought their little children for Jesus to bless. But when his disciples saw them doing this, they told the people to stop bothering him. 16 So Jesus called the children over to him and said, “Let the children come to me! Don't try to stop them. People who are like these children belong to God's kingdom.t

17 You will never get into God's kingdom unless you enter it like a child!”

A Rich and Important Man

(Matthew 19.16-30; Mark 10.17-31)

18 An important man asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what must I do to have eternal life?”
19 Jesus said, “Why do you call me good? Only God is good.

20 t You know the commandments: ‘Be faithful in marriage. Do not murder. Do not steal. Do not tell lies about others. Respect your father and mother.’ ”

21 He told Jesus, “I have obeyed all these commandments since I was a young man.”
22 When Jesus heard this, he said, “There is one thing you still need to do. Go and sell everything you own! Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and be my follower.”

23 When the man heard this, he was sad, because he was very rich.
24 Jesus saw how sad the man was. So he said, “It's terribly hard for rich people to get into God's kingdom!

25 In fact, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into God's kingdom.”

26 When the crowd heard this, they asked, “How can anyone ever be saved?”

27 Jesus replied, “There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything.”

28 Peter said, “Remember, we left everything to be your followers!”
29 Jesus answered, “You can be sure that anyone who gives up home or wife or brothers or family or children because of God's kingdom

30 will be given much more in this life. And in the future world they will have eternal life.”

Jesus Again Tells about //His Death

(Matthew 20.17-19; Mark 10.32-34)

31 Jesus took the twelve apostles aside and said:
We are now on our way to Jerusalem. Everything that the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will happen there. 32 He will be handed over to foreigners, t who will make fun of him, mistreat him, and spit on him.

33 They will beat him and kill him, but three days later he will rise to life.

34 The apostles did not understand what Jesus was talking about. They could not understand, because the meaning of what he said was hidden from them.

Jesus Heals a Blind Beggar

(Matthew 20.29-34; Mark 10.46-52)

35 When Jesus was coming close to Jericho, a blind man sat begging beside the road. 36 The man heard the crowd walking by and asked what was happening. 37 Some people told him that Jesus from Nazareth was passing by. 38 So the blind man shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, t have pity on me!”

39 The people who were going along with Jesus told the man to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me!”
40 Jesus stopped and told some people to bring the blind man over to him. When the blind man was getting near, Jesus asked,

41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see!” he answered.
42 Jesus replied, “Look and you will see! Your eyes are healed because of your faith.” 43 At once the man could see, and he went with Jesus and started thanking God. When the crowds saw what happened, they praised God.
