Sakkeus
1 Så kom Jesus til Jeriko og fór gjennom byen. 2 Der var det ein mann som heitte Sakkeus; han var overtollar og svært rik. 3 Han ville gjerne sjå kven Jesus var, men kunne ikkje koma til for folkemengda, for han var liten på vokster. 4 Då sprang han i førevegen og kleiv opp i eit morbærtre, så han kunne få sjå han, for der laut han koma framom. 5 Då Jesus kom dit, såg han opp og sa til han: «Sakkeus, skunda deg og kom ned! For i dag lyt eg ta inn i ditt hus.» 6 Då skunda han seg ned og tok imot Jesus med glede. 7 Alle som såg det, murra og sa: «Han tek inn hjå ein syndig mann.» t 8 Men Sakkeus steig fram og sa til Herren: «Herre, helvta av alt eg eig, gjev eg til dei fattige, og har eg truga pengar frå nokon, gjev eg firdobbelt att.» t 9 Då sa Jesus: «I dag er frelse komen til dette huset. For han òg er ein Abrahams son,
10 og Menneskesonen er komen for å leita etter det som var fortapt, og frelsa det.»tLikninga om punda
(Matt 25,14–30)
11 Medan dei høyrde på dette, fortalde Jesus endå ei likning; for han var nær Jerusalem, og mange meinte at Guds rike snart skulle koma til syne.
12 Han sa:
Det var ein gong ein høgætta mann som ville fara til eit land langt borte; der skulle han verta innsett til konge og så koma heim att. t t 13 Han kalla til seg ti av tenarane sine og gav kvar av dei eitt pund og sa til dei: «Driv handel med desse pengane til eg kjem att.»
14 Men landsmennene hans hata han, og dei lét sendemenn fara av stad etter han og seia: «Vi vil ikkje ha denne mannen til konge over oss.»t
15 Då han no kom att og hadde vorte konge, kalla han til seg dei tenarane som hadde fått pengane, så han kunne få vita kor mykje dei hadde tent. 16 Den fyrste kom fram og sa: «Herre, det pundet du gav meg, har kasta av seg ti pund.» 17 «Det var rett, du gode tenar,» sa kongen. «Fordi du har vore tru i lite, skal du få styra ti byar.» t 18 Den andre kom og sa: «Herre, det pundet du gav meg, har gjeve fem pund.» 19 Til han sa kongen: «Du skal få styra fem byar.» 20 Men så kom det ein og sa: «Herre, sjå her er pundet ditt! Eg har hatt det liggjande i ein klut. 21 Eg var redd deg, for du er ein streng mann, som tek ut det du ikkje har sett inn, og haustar det du ikkje har sått.» 22 Då sa kongen: «Etter dine eigne ord dømer eg deg, du låke tenar! Du visste at eg er ein streng mann, som tek ut det eg ikkje har sett inn, og haustar det eg ikkje har sått. 23 Kvifor gav du ikkje pengane til ein som driv med utlån, så eg kunne få dei att med renter når eg kom heim?» 24 Så sa han til dei som stod der: «Ta pundet frå han og gjev det til han som har dei ti!» 25 «Herre, han har då ti pund,» sa dei.
26 «Ja, men eg seier dykk: Den som har, han skal få, og den som ikkje har, han skal missa jamvel det han har.t
27 Men desse fiendane mine, som ikkje ville at eg skulle vera kongen deira, dei skal de føra hit og hogga ned for augo mine.»Jesus kjem til Jerusalem

Jesus rid inn i Jerusalem
(Matt 21,1–11; Mark 11,1–11; Joh 12,12–16)
28 Då Jesus hadde sagt dette, heldt han fram på ferda opp mot Jerusalem. t 29 Som han kom bort imot Betfage og Betania, ved den høgda som heiter Oljeberget, sende han to av læresveinane i veg 30 og sa: «Gå bort i den landsbyen som ligg framfor dykk. Når de kjem dit, finn de ein eselfole som står bunden, og som det aldri har sete menneske på. Den skal de løysa og leia hit!
31 Og er det nokon som spør: Kvifor løyser de folen? då skal de svara: Herren har bruk for han.»
32 Dei to gjekk av stad, og fann det så som han hadde sagt. t 33 Då dei løyste folen, spurde dei som åtte han: «Kvifor løyser de folen?» 34 Dei svara: «Herren har bruk for han.» 35 Så leidde dei folen til Jesus, la kappene sine på han og lét Jesus setja seg oppå. 36 Og der han reid fram, breidde folket kappene sine ut på vegen.
37 Då han kom bort imot den staden der det ber ned frå Oljeberget, tok heile læresveinflokken, glade som dei var, til å lova Gud med høg røyst for alle dei mektige gjerningane dei hadde sett. Dei ropa:
38 «Velsigna i Herrens namn
vere kongen, han som kjem!
Fred i himmelen
og ære i det høgste!» t
39 Nokre farisearar som var med i folkemengda, sa til han: «Meister, tal læresveinane dine til rettes!»
40 Men han svara: «Eg seier dykk: Dersom dei teier, skal steinane ropa.»Jesus græt over Jerusalem
41 Då Jesus kom nærare og såg byen, gret han over han t 42 og sa: «Hadde du berre visst, du òg, på denne dagen kva som tener til din fred! Men no er det dult for augo dine. t 43 Det skal koma dagar då fiendane dine kastar opp ein voll rundt deg, kringset deg og trengjer deg frå alle kantar. t
44 Dei skal slå deg til jorda, og folket ditt med deg, og det skal ikkje liggja att stein på stein i deg, fordi du ikkje skjøna di gjestings tid.»tMitt hus skal vera eit bønehus
(Matt 21,12–17; Mark 11,15–19; Joh 2,13–16)
45 Så gjekk Jesus inn på tempelplassen og tok til å jaga ut dei som dreiv handel der.
46 Og han sa til dei: «Det står skrive: Mitt hus skal vera eit bønehus. Men de har gjort det til ei røvarhole.»t
47 Sidan var han kvar dag i templet og lærte. Overprestane og dei skriftlærde og dei fremste mennene i folket hadde hug til å rydja han or vegen. t 48 Men dei fann ikkje ut korleis dei skulle bera seg åt, for alt folket heldt seg nær til han og høyrde på han.
LUKE 19
Zacchaeus
1 Jesus was going through Jericho, 2 where a man named Zacchaeus lived. He was in charge of collecting taxest and was very rich.
3-4 Jesus was heading his way, and Zacchaeus wanted to see what he was like. But Zacchaeus was a short man and could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree.
5 When Jesus got there, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down! I want to stay with you today.”
6 Zacchaeus hurried down and gladly welcomed Jesus.
7 Everyone who saw this started grumbling, “This man Zacchaeus is a sinner! And Jesus is going home to eat with him.”
8 Later that day Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “I will give half of my property to the poor. And I will now pay back four times as mucht to everyone I have ever cheated.”
9 Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “Today you and your family have been saved, t because you are a true son of Abraham.t
10 t The Son of Man came to look for and to save people who are lost.”A Story about Ten Servants
(Matthew 25.14-30)
11 t The crowd was still listening to Jesus as he was getting close to Jerusalem. Many of them thought that God's kingdom would soon appear,
12 and Jesus told them this story:
A prince once went to a foreign country to be crowned king and then to return.
13 But before leaving, he called in ten servants and gave each of them some money. He told them, “Use this to earn more money until I get back.”
14 But the people of his country hated him, and they sent messengers to the foreign country to say, “We don't want this man to be our king.”
15 After the prince had been made king, he returned and called in his servants. He asked them how much they had earned with the money they had been given.
16 The first servant came and said, “Sir, with the money you gave me I have earned ten times as much.”
17 “That's fine, my good servant!” the king said. “Since you have shown that you can be trusted with a small amount, you will be given ten cities to rule.”
18 The second one came and said, “Sir, with the money you gave me, I have earned five times as much.”
19 The king said, “You will be given five cities.”
20 Another servant came and said, “Sir, here is your money. I kept it safe in a handkerchief.
21 You are a hard man, and I was afraid of you. You take what isn't yours, and you harvest crops you didn't plant.”
22 “You worthless servant!” the king told him. “You have condemned yourself by what you have just said. You knew I am a hard man, taking what isn't mine and harvesting what I've not planted.
23 Why didn't you put my money in the bank? On my return, I could have had the money together with interest.”
24 Then he said to some other servants standing there, “Take the money away from him and give it to the servant who earned ten times as much.”
25 But they said, “Sir, he already has ten times as much!”
26 t The king replied, “Those who have something will be given more. But everything will be taken away from those who don't have anything.
27 Now bring me the enemies who didn't want me to be their king. Kill them while I watch!”Jesus Enters Jerusalem
(Matthew 21.1-11; Mark 11.1-11; John 12.12-19)
28 When Jesus had finished saying all this, he went on toward Jerusalem. 29 As he was getting near Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples on ahead. 30 He told them, “Go into the next village, where you will find a young donkey that has never been ridden. Untie the donkey and bring it here.
31 If anyone asks why you are doing this, just say, ‘The Lordt needs it.’ ”
32 They went off and found everything just as Jesus had said.
33 While they were untying the donkey, its owners asked, “Why are you doing that?”
34 They answered, “The Lordt needs it.”
35 Then they led the donkey to Jesus. They put some of their clothes on its back and helped Jesus get on. 36 And as he rode along, the people spread clothes on the roadt in front of him. 37 When Jesus started down the Mount of Olives, his large crowd of disciples were happy and praised God because of all the miracles they had seen.
38 t They shouted,
“Blessed is the king who comes
in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven
and glory to God.”
39 Some Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, make your disciples stop shouting!”
40 But Jesus answered, “If they keep quiet, these stones will start shouting.”
41 When Jesus came closer and could see Jerusalem, he cried
42 and said:
It is too bad that today your people don't know what will bring them peace! Now it is hidden from them. 43 Jerusalem, the time will come when your enemies will build walls around you to attack you. Armies will surround you and close in on you from every side.
44 They will level you to the ground and kill your people. Not one stone in your buildings will be left on top of another. This will happen because you did not see that God had come to save you.tJesus in the Temple
(Matthew 21.12-17; Mark 11.15-19; John 2.13-22)
45 When Jesus entered the temple, he started chasing out the people who were selling things.
46 t He told them, “The Scriptures say, ‘My house should be a place of worship.’ But you have made it a place where robbers hide!”
47 t Each day, Jesus kept on teaching in the temple. So the chief priests, the teachers of the Law of Moses, and some other important people tried to have him killed. 48 But they could not find a way to do it, because everyone else was eager to listen to him.
