Isus și Zacheu

1 Isus a intrat în Ierihon și trecea prin cetate .2 Și iată că un om numit Zacheu, care era șeful colectorilor de taxe și era bogat,3 căuta să vadă care este Isus, dar nu putea din cauza mulțimii, căci era mic de statură.4 Atunci el a alergat înainte și s-a suit într-un sicomort ca să-L vadă, căci pe drumul acela urma să treacă.

5 Când a ajuns Isus în locul acela, s-a uitat în sus și i-a zis:
– Zacheu, dă-te jos repede, pentru că astăzi trebuie să rămân în casa ta!

6 Zacheu s-a dat repede jos din copac și L-a primit cu bucurie.7 Când au văzut acest lucru, toți au început să murmure și să zică: „A intrat să poposească la un om păcătos!“

8 Dar Zacheu a stat înaintea Domnului și I-a zis:
– Iată, Doamne, jumătate din posesiunile mele le dau celor săraci, iar dacă am înșelat pe cineva cu ceva îi dau înapoi de patru ori mai mult!

9 Isus i-a zis:
– Astăzi a intrat mântuirea în casa aceasta, deoarece și el este un fiu al lui Avraam!10 Căci Fiul Omului a venit să caute și să mântuiască ce era pierdut.

Pilda celor zece mine

11 În timp ce ascultau aceste lucruri, El a continuat prin a le spune o pildă, pentru că era aproape de Ierusalim, iar ei credeau că Împărăția lui Dumnezeu urma să se arate imediat.

12 Așadar le-a zis:
„Un nobil a plecat într-o țară îndepărtată ca să preia un regat și apoi să se întoarcă.t13 I-a chemat pe zece dintre sclavii lui, le-a dat zece minet și le-a zis: «Folosiți-le în negoț până când mă întorc eu!»14 Dar cetățenii lui îl urau și au trimis în urma lui o delegație să spună: «Nu vrem ca acest om să fie rege peste noi!»t15 La întoarcerea sa, după ce a preluat regatul, a spus să fie chemați sclavii aceia, cărora le dăduse banii, ca să afle cât au câștigat.

16 Primul a venit zicând:
– Stăpâne, mina ta a mai adus încă zece mine!

17 Stăpânul i-a zis:
– Bine, sclav bun! Pentru că ai fost credincios în lucruri mici, primește autoritate peste zece cetăți!

18 A venit al doilea și a zis:
– Mina ta, stăpâne, a mai adus cinci!

19 Stăpânul i-a zis și acestuia:
– Primește și tu autoritate peste cinci cetăți!

20 Un altul a venit și a zis:
– Stăpâne, iată-ți mina! Am ținut-o învelită într-un ștergar,21 căci m-am temut de tine, fiindcă ești un om aspru, care iei ceea ce n-ai pus și seceri ceea ce n-ai semănat!

22 Stăpânul i-a zis:
– Sclav rău, te voi judeca după cuvintele tale! Știai că sunt un om aspru, care iau ceea ce n-am pus și secer ceea ce n-am semănat?23 Atunci de ce n-ai pus banii la bancă, pentru ca, la întoarcere, să strâng cu dobândă?!

24 Și le-a zis celor care stăteau acolo:
– Luați-i mina și dați-i-o celui ce are zece mine.

25 Ei au zis:
– Stăpâne, el are zece mine!t

26 Vă spun că oricui are, i se va da, dar de la cel ce n-are se va lua chiar și ce are!27 Cât despre acei dușmani ai mei, care n-au vrut să domnesc eu peste ei, aduceți-i aici și omorâți-i în fața mea!“

Intrarea triumfală în Ierusalim

28 După ce a spus aceste lucruri, a pornit în frunte, îndreptându-se spre Ierusalim.29 Când S-a apropiat de Betfaghe și de Betania, lângă muntele numit „al Măslinilor“, i-a trimis pe doi dintre ucenici,30 spunându-le: „Duceți-vă în satul dinaintea voastră și, în timp ce intrați în el, veți găsi un măgăruș legat, pe care n-a încălecat nimeni niciodată. Dezlegați-l și aduceți-l!31 Dacă vă va întreba cineva: «De ce-l dezlegați?», să-i spuneți: «Domnul are nevoie de el!»“32 Cei ce fuseseră trimiși s-au dus și au găsit totul așa cum le spusese Isus.

33 În timp ce dezlegau măgărușul, stăpânii acestuia i-au întrebat:
– De ce dezlegați măgărușul?

34 Ei au răspuns:
– Domnul are nevoie de el!

35 Și l-au adus la Isus. Apoi și-au aruncat hainele peste măgăruș și L-au așezat pe Isus deasupra luit.36 În timp ce El mergea, oamenii își așterneau hainele pe drumt.

37 Când S-a apropiat deja de povârnișul dinspre Muntele Măslinilor, toți cei din mulțimea ucenicilor, plini de bucurie, au început să-L laude pe Dumnezeu cu glas tare pentru toate minunile pe care le văzuseră.

38 Ei ziceau:
„Binecuvântat este Împăratul Care vine
în Numele Domnului!t
Pace în cer
și slavă în locurile preaînalte!“t

39 Unii dintre fariseii din mulțime I-au zis:
– Învățătorule, mustră-Ți ucenicii!

40 El a răspuns:
– Vă spun că, dacă aceștia vor tăcea, pietrele vor strigat!

41 Când S-a apropiat de cetate și a văzut-o, Isus a plâns pentru ea.42 El a zis: „Dacă ai fi cunoscut și tu în ziua aceasta lucrurile care-ți puteau aduce pacea! Dar acum ele sunt ascunse de ochii tăi!43 Vor veni zile peste tine când dușmanii tăi vor ridica rampe de asalt împotriva ta, te vor înconjura și te vor asedia din toate părțile!44 Te vor strivi de pământ pe tine și pe copiii tăi din mijlocul tău și nu vor lăsa în tine piatră pe piatră, pentru că n-ai cunoscut vremea cercetării tale!“

Isus alungă negustorii din Templu

45 A intrat în Templut și a început să-i scoată afară pe cei ce vindeau acolo ,

46 spunându-le: „Este scris:
«Casa Mea va fi
o casă de rugăciune»,t

dar voi ați făcut din ea o peșteră de tâlhari!“t

47 Isus dădea în fiecare zi învățătură în Templu. Conducătorii preoților, cărturarii și fruntașii poporului căutau să-L omoare,48 dar nu știau cum să facă, pentru că tot poporul se ținea lipit de El, ascultându-Lt.

LUKE 19

Zacchaeus

1 Jesus was going through Jericho, 2 where a man named Zacchaeus lived. He was in charge of collecting taxest and was very rich.

3-4 Jesus was heading his way, and Zacchaeus wanted to see what he was like. But Zacchaeus was a short man and could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree.
5 When Jesus got there, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down! I want to stay with you today.”

6 Zacchaeus hurried down and gladly welcomed Jesus.

7 Everyone who saw this started grumbling, “This man Zacchaeus is a sinner! And Jesus is going home to eat with him.”

8 Later that day Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “I will give half of my property to the poor. And I will now pay back four times as mucht to everyone I have ever cheated.”
9 Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “Today you and your family have been saved, t because you are a true son of Abraham.t

10 t The Son of Man came to look for and to save people who are lost.”

A Story about Ten Servants

(Matthew 25.14-30)

12 and Jesus told them this story:
A prince once went to a foreign country to be crowned king and then to return.

13 But before leaving, he called in ten servants and gave each of them some money. He told them, “Use this to earn more money until I get back.”

14 But the people of his country hated him, and they sent messengers to the foreign country to say, “We don't want this man to be our king.”

15 After the prince had been made king, he returned and called in his servants. He asked them how much they had earned with the money they had been given.

16 The first servant came and said, “Sir, with the money you gave me I have earned ten times as much.”

17 “That's fine, my good servant!” the king said. “Since you have shown that you can be trusted with a small amount, you will be given ten cities to rule.”

18 The second one came and said, “Sir, with the money you gave me, I have earned five times as much.”

19 The king said, “You will be given five cities.”
20 Another servant came and said, “Sir, here is your money. I kept it safe in a handkerchief.

21 You are a hard man, and I was afraid of you. You take what isn't yours, and you harvest crops you didn't plant.”
22 “You worthless servant!” the king told him. “You have condemned yourself by what you have just said. You knew I am a hard man, taking what isn't mine and harvesting what I've not planted.

23 Why didn't you put my money in the bank? On my return, I could have had the money together with interest.”

24 Then he said to some other servants standing there, “Take the money away from him and give it to the servant who earned ten times as much.”

25 But they said, “Sir, he already has ten times as much!”
26  t The king replied, “Those who have something will be given more. But everything will be taken away from those who don't have anything.

27 Now bring me the enemies who didn't want me to be their king. Kill them while I watch!”

Jesus Enters Jerusalem

(Matthew 21.1-11; Mark 11.1-11; John 12.12-19)

31 If anyone asks why you are doing this, just say, ‘The Lordt needs it.’ ”
32 They went off and found everything just as Jesus had said.

33 While they were untying the donkey, its owners asked, “Why are you doing that?”

34 They answered, “The Lordt needs it.”
35 Then they led the donkey to Jesus. They put some of their clothes on its back and helped Jesus get on. 36 And as he rode along, the people spread clothes on the roadt in front of him. 37 When Jesus started down the Mount of Olives, his large crowd of disciples were happy and praised God because of all the miracles they had seen.

38 t They shouted,
“Blessed is the king who comes
in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven
and glory to God.”

39 Some Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, make your disciples stop shouting!”

40 But Jesus answered, “If they keep quiet, these stones will start shouting.”
41 When Jesus came closer and could see Jerusalem, he cried

42 and said:
It is too bad that today your people don't know what will bring them peace! Now it is hidden from them. 43 Jerusalem, the time will come when your enemies will build walls around you to attack you. Armies will surround you and close in on you from every side.

44 They will level you to the ground and kill your people. Not one stone in your buildings will be left on top of another. This will happen because you did not see that God had come to save you.t

Jesus in the Temple

(Matthew 21.12-17; Mark 11.15-19; John 2.13-22)

46 t He told them, “The Scriptures say, ‘My house should be a place of worship.’ But you have made it a place where robbers hide!”
47  t Each day, Jesus kept on teaching in the temple. So the chief priests, the teachers of the Law of Moses, and some other important people tried to have him killed. 48 But they could not find a way to do it, because everyone else was eager to listen to him.
