Lucas 19

Zaqueo

1 Jesús llegó a Jericó y comenzó a atravesar la ciudad.2 Allí había un hombre rico que era el jefe de los cobradores de impuestost. Su nombre era Zaqueo.3 Estaba tratando de ver quién era Jesús, pero no pudo porque había mucha gente y él era bajito.4 Para poder verlo, salió corriendo, fue a un lugar por donde Jesús tenía que pasar y se subió a un árbol sicómoro.

5 Cuando Jesús llegó a ese lugar, miró hacia arriba, vio a Zaqueo en el árbol y le dijo:
—Zaqueo, apúrate, baja de allí, porque hoy voy a quedarme en tu casa.
6 Entonces Zaqueo bajó del árbol rápidamente y se puso muy feliz de recibir a Jesús en su casa.7 Todos los que vieron esto se quejaban: «Miren la clase de hombre con quien se hospeda Jesús. ¡Zaqueo es un pecador!»

8 Entonces Zaqueo se levantó y le dijo al Señor:
—Mira, Señor, voy a dar a los pobres la mitad de todo lo que tengo, y si he engañado a alguien, le pagaré cuatro veces más.

9 Jesús le dijo:
—La salvación ha llegado a esta familia, porque este hombre ha mostrado ser un verdadero hijo de Abrahamt.

10 Porque el Hijo del hombret vino a buscar a los perdidos y a salvarlos.

Haz buen uso de lo que Dios te da

11 Mientras la gente estaba escuchando esto, Jesús les contó una historiat porque estaba cerca de Jerusalén, y porque algunos de ellos pensaban que el reino de Diost iba a llegar pronto.

12 Entonces Jesús les dijo:
«Un hombre de la nobleza se fue a un país lejano para ser nombrado rey y luego regresar.13 El hombre llamó a diez de sus siervos. A cada uno le dio la misma cantidad de dinero.t Les dijo: "Hagan negocios con este dinero hasta que yo vuelva".14 Pero su gente lo odiaba. Por esa razón mandaron tras él a un grupo para decirle al emperador: "No queremos que este hombre sea nuestro rey".15 Pero a pesar de todo, el hombre fue nombrado rey. Luego regresó a su país. Cuando llegó, mandó llamar a los siervos a quienes les había dado el dinero, para saber cuánta ganancia tenían.16 El primero se presentó y dijo: "Señor, el dinero que me dio ganó diez veces más".17 Entonces el hombre le dijo: "Muy bien hecho, buen siervo. Como fuiste fiel con lo poco, por eso ahora voy a dejarte gobernar diez de mis ciudades".18 Vino el segundo siervo y dijo, "Señor, su dinero ganó cinco veces más".19 Entonces el hombre le dijo: "Vas a gobernar cinco de mis ciudades".20 Llegó el otro siervo y le dijo: "Señor, aquí está su dinero, lo guardé muy bien en un pañuelo.21 Yo le tuve miedo, porque usted es un hombre duro, toma dinero que no ha ganado y cosecha lo que no ha sembrado".22 Entonces el rey le dijo: "¡Siervo malo! Usaré tus propias palabras contra ti para condenarte. ¿Conque sabías que soy un hombre duro, que tomo dinero que no he ganado y cosecho lo que no he sembrado?23 Siendo así, ¿por qué no pusiste mi dinero en un banco para que así cuando yo regresara hubiera ganado intereses?"

24 Luego les dijo a los que estaban parados allí: "Quítenle el dinero que tiene y dénselo al que tiene diez veces más".
25 »Ellos le dijeron: "Señor, él ya tiene diez veces más".26 El rey les dijo: "Yo les digo, a todo el que hace buen uso de lo que tiene, se le dará más; pero al que no hace buen uso de lo que tiene, se le quitará todo.

27 En cuanto a mis enemigos que no querían que yo fuera rey, tráiganmelos y mátenlos delante de mí"».

Jesús llega a Jerusalén

28 Después de decir esto, Jesús siguió su camino hacia Jerusalén.29 Cuando estaba cerca de Betfagé y Betania, en la colina que se llama monte de los Olivost, envió a dos de sus seguidores y les dijo:30 «Vayan al próximo pueblo. Cuando lleguen ahí, verán a un burrito atado, que nadie ha montado. Desátenlo y tráiganmelo aquí.

31 Y si alguien les pregunta por qué están haciendo eso, díganle que el Señor lo necesita».
32 Los que fueron enviados, llegaron y lo encontraron, tal como Jesús les había dicho.

33 Mientras estaban desatando al burrito, su dueño les dijo:
—¿Por qué están desatándolo?

34 Entonces ellos dijeron:
—El Señor lo necesita.
35 Le trajeron el burrito a Jesús. Los seguidores pusieron sus mantos sobre el burrito y ayudaron a Jesús a montarlo.36 Mientras Jesús avanzaba, la gente extendía sus mantos en el camino.37 Jesús ya estaba muy cerca de Jerusalén, en la bajada del monte de los Olivos. Todo el grupo de seguidores comenzó a gritar de alegría y a alabar a Dios por los muchos milagros que habían visto.

38 Ellos decían:
—¡Bendito el rey que viene
en el nombre del Señor!t—¡Paz en el cielo y gloriat a Dios!

39 Algunos de los fariseost que estaban en la multitud le dijeron:
—Maestro, ¡diles a tus seguidores que no digan esas palabras!

40 Jesús les dijo:
—Les aseguro que si ellos se callan, las piedras gritarán.

Jesús llora por Jerusalén

41 Cuando Jesús estaba a punto de entrar a Jerusalén y vio la ciudad, lloró por ella42 y dijo: «Si sólo supieras hoy lo que te trae paz, pero no puedes saberlo porque está oculto para ti.43 Llegará la hora en que tus enemigos harán un muro, te rodearán y te atacarán por todos lados.

44 Ellos arrasarán contigo y con tu gente. Las piedras de tus edificios no quedarán una sobre otra. Todo esto pasará porque no reconociste la hora en que Dios vino a salvarte».

Jesús va al templo

45 Jesús entró en el área del templot y empezó a echar a la gente que estaba vendiendo.

46 Les dijo:
—Está escrito: "Mi casa será una casa de oración",t ¡pero ustedes la han convertido en una guarida de ladronest!
47 Jesús le enseñaba a la gente todos los días en el área del templo. Los jefes de los sacerdotes, los maestros de la ley y los líderes del pueblo estaban buscando la forma de matar a Jesús,

48 pero no la hallaban porque todo el pueblo estaba pendiente de lo que decía.

Luke 19

Zaccheus Converted

1 He entered Jericho and was passing through.2 And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich.3 Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way.5 When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house."6 And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly.7 When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner."8 Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much."9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

Parable of Money Usage

11 While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.12 So He said, "A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return.13 And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten tminas and said to them, 'Do business with this until I come back.'14 But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.'15 When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done.16 The first appeared, saying, 'Master, your mina has made ten minas more.'17 And he said to him, 'Well done, good slave, because you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.'18 The second came, saying, 'Your mina, master, has made five minas.'19 And he said to him also, 'And you are to be over five cities.'20 Another came, saying, 'Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief;21 for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.'22 He *said to him, 'By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow?23 Then why did you not put my money in the bank, and having come, I would have collected it with interest?'24 Then he said to the bystanders, 'Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.'25 And they said to him, 'Master, he has ten minas already.'26 I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.27 But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence."

Triumphal Entry

28 After He had said these things, He was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

29 When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples,30 saying, "Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.31 If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' you shall say, 'The Lord has need of it.'"32 So those who were sent went away and found it just as He had told them.33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying the colt?"34 They said, "The Lord has need of it."35 They brought it to Jesus, and they threw their coats on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road.37 As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen,38 shouting:
"BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD;
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples."40 But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"

41 When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it,42 saying, "If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes.43 For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side,44 and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."

Traders Driven from the Temple

45 Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling,46 saying to them, "It is written, 'AND MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER,' but you have made it a ROBBERS' DEN."

47 And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people were trying to destroy Him,48 and they could not find anything that they might do, for all the people were hanging on to every word He said.
