Nașterea lui Isus

1 În zilele acelea, a ieșit un decret de la Cezart Augustust să se înscriet toată lumeat.2 Acest recensământ s-a făcut pentru prima oară în timp cet în Siriat era guvernator Quiriniust.3 Toți se duceau să se înscrie, fiecare în cetatea lui.

4 Iosif a plecat și el din Galileea, din cetatea Nazaret, înspre Iudeea, în cetatea lui David, numită Betleem,t pentru că era din casa și spița lui David,5 ca să se înscrie împreună cu Maria, logodnica lui, care era însărcinată.6 În timp ce se aflau acolo, s-a împlinit vremea ca ea să nască.7 Și L-a născut pe Fiul ei cel întâi născut. Ea L-a înfășat și L-a culcat într-o iesle, pentru că în odaia de găzduire nu era loc pentru ei.

Vestea bună adusă păstorilor

8 În ținutul acela erau niște păstori care rămăseseră afară, pe câmp , și stăteau de pază în timpul nopții în jurul turmei lor.9 Un înger al Domnului a apărut înaintea lor și slava Domnului a strălucit în jurul lor. Ei s-au speriat foarte tare.10 Îngerul le-a zis: „Nu vă temeți, pentru că iată, vă aduc o veste bună, care va fi o mare bucurie pentru tot poporul:11 astăzi, în cetatea lui David, vi s-a născut un Mântuitor, Care este Cristost, Domnul!12 Iată care va fi semnul pentru voi: veți găsi un Copil nou-născut, înfășat și culcat într-o iesle.“

13 Și deodată, împreună cu îngerul s-a unit o mulțime de oaste cerească, lăudându-L pe Dumnezeu și zicând:

14 „Slavă lui Dumnezeu în înălțimit
și pace pe pământ,
între oamenii peste care se odihnește bunăvoința Lui!“

15 După ce îngerii s-au întors de la ei în ceruri, păstorii și-au zis unii altora: „Să mergem acum la Betleem și să vedem lucrul acesta care s-a întâmplat și pe care Domnul ni l-a făcut cunoscut!“16 S-au dus repede și i-au găsit pe Maria, pe Iosif și Copilul culcat în iesle.17 Când i-au văzut, le-au făcut cunoscut ceea ce li se spusese despre Acest Copil.18 Toți cei ce i-au auzit, s-au mirat de ceea ce le-au spus păstorii.19 Maria, însă, păstra toate aceste cuvinte și cugeta la ele în inima ei.20 Apoi păstorii s-au întors slăvindu-L și lăudându-L pe Dumnezeu pentru toate lucrurile pe care le-au auzit și le-au văzut și care erau întocmai cum li se spusese.

21 Când a venit ziua a opta, în care Copilul trebuia circumcis,t I-au pus numele Isust, nume pe care îl spusese îngerul înainte ca El să fi fost conceput în pântece.

Isus este prezentat la Templu. Simeon și Ana

22 Și când s-au împlinit zilele pentru curățirea lor, poruncită în Legea lui Moise,t L-au dus la Ierusalim ca să-L înfățișeze înaintea Domnului,23 așa cum este scris în Legea Domnului: „Orice întâi născut, care este băiat,t să fie pus deoparte pentru Domnul“,t24 și ca să aducă jertfă, așa cum este spus în Legea Domnului: „O pereche de turturele sau doi pui de porumbel.“t

25 Și iată că în Ierusalim era un om pe care-l chema Simeon. Acest om era drept și evlavios. El aștepta mângâiereat lui Israel și Duhul Sfânt era peste el.26 Duhul Sfânt îi făcuse cunoscut că nu va vedea moartea înainte de a-L vedea pe Cristosul Domnului.27 Călăuzit de Duhul, el a venit în Templu. Când părinții L-au adus înăuntru pe Copilul Isus, ca să împlinească cu privire la El obiceiul Legii,28 Simeon L-a luat în brațe, L-a binecuvântat pe Dumnezeu și a zis:

29 „Acum, Stăpâne, eliberează-lt pe robul Tău în pace,
după cuvântul Tău,

30 căci ochii mei au văzut mântuirea Ta,

31 pe care ai pregătit-o să fie înaintea tuturor popoarelor

32 o lumină care să slujească celorlalte neamuri drept revelație,
iar poporului Tău, Israel, drept glorie!“

33 Tatăl și mama lui Isus se mirau de ceea ce se spunea despre El.

34 Simeon i-a binecuvântat și i-a zis Mariei, mama lui Isus :
„Iată, Copilul Acesta este rânduit pentru căderea și ridicarea multora în Israel și pentru a fi un semn care va stârni împotrivire,35 ca astfel să fie descoperite gândurile din multe inimi. Și o sabie va străpunge chiar sufletul tău!“

36 Mai era și o profetesă, pe nume Ana, fata lui Fanuel, din seminția lui Așer. Aceasta era foarte înaintată în vârstă. Ea trăise împreună cu soțul ei timp de șapte ani după fecioria ei37 și apoi, ca văduvă, ajunsese la optzeci și patru de anit. Ea nu se îndepărta de la Templu, slujind zi și noapte prin post și rugăciune.38 A venit acolo chiar în ceasul acela și a început să-I mulțumească lui Dumnezeu și să le vorbească despre El tuturor celor ce așteptau răscumpărarea Ierusalimului.

39 După ce au împlinit toate lucrurile poruncite în Legea Domnului, s-au întors în Galileea, în cetatea lor, Nazaret.40 Copilul creștea, se întăreat și era umplut cu înțelepciune, iar harul lui Dumnezeu era peste El.

Isus în Templu la vârsta de doisprezece ani

41 În fiecare an, părinții Lui se duceau la Ierusalim, la Sărbătoarea Paștelui.42 Când era El la vârsta de doisprezece ani,t s-au dus la sărbătoare, potrivit obiceiului.43 După ce au trecut zilele sărbătorii , la întoarcere, Copilul Isus a rămas în urmă în Ierusalim. Părinții Lui n-au știut lucrul acesta.44 Ei au crezut că se află undeva în caravană și au mers așa cale de o zi. Apoi au început să-L caute printre rude și cunoștințe,45 dar nu L-au găsit, așa că s-au întors la Ierusalim să-L caute.46 După trei zile, L-au găsit în Templu, șezând în mijlocul învățătorilor, ascultându-i și punându-le întrebări.47 Toți cei care-L auzeau erau uimiți de priceperea și de răspunsurile Lui.

48 Când L-au văzut, părinții Lui au rămas înmărmuriți. Mama Lui i-a zis:
– Copile, de ce ne-ai făcut aceasta? Iată că tatăl Tău și cu mine Te-am căutat cu îngrijorare!

49 El le-a răspuns:
– De ce M-ați căutat? Nu știați că trebuie să fiu în Casa Tatălui Meu?t

50 Ei n-au înțeles ceea ce le-a zis El.51 Apoi S-a coborât împreună cu ei, a venit în Nazaret și le era supus. Mama Lui păstra toate aceste lucruri în inima ei.52 Isus creștea în înțelepciune, în statură și Îi era tot mai plăcut lui Dumnezeu și oamenilor.

LUKE 2

The Birth of Jesus

(Matthew 1.18-25)

1 About that time Emperor Augustus gave orders for the names of all the people to be listed in record books.t

2 These first records were made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.t
3 Everyone had to go to their own hometown to be listed.

4 So Joseph had to leave Nazareth in Galilee and go to Bethlehem in Judea. Long ago Bethlehem had been King David's hometown, and Joseph went there because he was from David's family.
5 Mary was engaged to Joseph and traveled with him to Bethlehem. She was soon going to have a baby, 6 and while they were there,

7 she gave birth to her first-bornt son. She dressed him in baby clothest and laid him on a bed of hay, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds

12 You will know who he is, because you will find him dressed in baby clothes and lying on a bed of hay.”

13 Suddenly many other angels came down from heaven and joined in praising God. They said:

14 “Praise God in heaven!
Peace on earth to everyone
who pleases God.”
15 After the angels had left and gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see what the Lord has told us about.”

16 They hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and they saw the baby lying on a bed of hay.
17 When the shepherds saw Jesus, they told his parents what the angel had said about him. 18 Everyone listened and was surprised.

19 But Mary kept thinking about all this and wondering what it meant.

20 As the shepherds returned to their sheep, they were praising God and saying wonderful things about him. Everything they had seen and heard was just as the angel had said.

21  t Eight days later Jesus' parents did for him what the Law of Moses commands.t And they named him Jesus, just as the angel had told Mary when he promised she would have a baby.

Simeon Praises the Lord

22  t The time came for Mary and Joseph to do what the Law of Moses says a mother is supposed to do after her baby is born.t
They took Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem and presented him to the Lord, 23 t just as the Law of the Lord says, “Each first-bornt baby boy belongs to the Lord.”

24 The Law of the Lord also says parents have to offer a sacrifice, giving at least a pair of doves or two young pigeons. So that is what Mary and Joseph did.
25 At this time a man named Simeon was living in Jerusalem. Simeon was a good man. He loved God and was waiting for him to save the people of Israel. God's Spirit came to him

26 and told him that he would not die until he had seen Christ the Lord.
27 When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to do what the Law of Moses says should be done for a new baby, the Spirit told Simeon to go into the temple.

28 Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms and praised God,

29 “Lord, I am your servant,
and now I can die in peace,
because you have kept
your promise to me.

30 With my own eyes I have seen
what you have done
to save your people,

31 and foreign nations
will also see this.

32  t Your mighty power is a light
for all nations,
and it will bring honor
to your people Israel.”
33 Jesus' parents were surprised at what Simeon had said. 34 Then he blessed them and told Mary, “This child of yours will cause many people in Israel to fall and others to stand. The child will be like a warning sign. Many people will reject him,

35 and you, Mary, will suffer as though you had been stabbed by a dagger. But all this will show what people are really thinking.”

Anna Speaks about //the Child Jesus

37 And now she was 84 years old.t Night and day she served God in the temple by praying and often going without eating.t

38 At this time Anna came in and praised God. She spoke about the child Jesus to everyone who hoped for Jerusalem to be set free.

The Return to Nazareth

40 The child Jesus grew. He became strong and wise, and God blessed him.

The Boy Jesus in the Temple

45 When they could not find him with their relatives and friends, they went back to Jerusalem and started looking for him there.
46 Three days later they found Jesus sitting in the temple, listening to the teachers and asking them questions.

47 Everyone who heard him was surprised at how much he knew and at the answers he gave.

48 When his parents found him, they were amazed. His mother said, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been very worried, and we have been searching for you!”
49 Jesus answered, “Why did you have to look for me? Didn't you know that I would be in my Father's house?”t

50 But they did not understand what he meant.

51 Jesus went back to Nazareth with his parents and obeyed them. His mother kept on thinking about all that had happened.
52  t Jesus became wise, and he grew strong. God was pleased with him and so were the people.
