누가복음서 20

예수의 권세에 대한 질문

(마 21:23-27; 막 11:27-33)

1  예수께서 어느 날 성전에서 백성을 가르치시며, 기쁜 소식을 전하고 계실 때에, 대제사장들과 율법학자들이 장로들과 함께 예수께 와서 2 말하였다. “당신은 무슨 권한으로 이런 일을 합니까? 누가 이런 권한을 당신에게 주었습니까? 어디 우리에게 말해 보십시오.” 3 예수께서 그들에게 대답하셨다. “나도 너희에게 한 가지 물어 보겠으니, 나에게 대답해 보아라. 4 요한의 t세례가 하늘에서 난 것이냐? 사람에게서 난 것이냐?” 5 그들은 자기들끼리 의논하면서 말하였다. “‘하늘에서 났다’고 말하면, ‘어찌하여 그를 믿지 않았느냐’고 할 것이요, 6 ‘사람에게서 났다’고 말하면, 온 백성이 요한을 예언자로 믿고 있으니, 그들이 우리를 돌로 칠 것이다.” 7 그래서 그들은 요한의 t세례가 어디에서 났는지를 모른다고 대답하였다. 8 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “나도 무슨 권한으로 이런 일을 하는지를 너희에게 말하지 않겠다.”

포도원과 소작인의 비유

(마 21:33-46; 막 12:1-12)

9  예수께서 백성에게 이 비유를 말씀하셨다. “어떤 사람이 포도원을 만들어서, 농부들에게 세로 주고, 오랫동안 멀리 떠나 있었다. 10 포도를 거둘 때가 되어서, 포도원 주인은 포도원 소출 가운데서 얼마를 소작료로 받아 오게 하려고, 종 하나를 농부들에게 보냈다. 그런데 농부들은 그 종을 때리고, 빈손으로 돌려보냈다. 11 주인은 다른 종을 보냈다. 그랬더니 그들은 그 종도 때리고, 모욕하고, 빈손으로 돌려보냈다. 12 그래서 주인이 다시 세 번째 종을 보냈더니, 그들은 이 종에게도 상처를 입혀서 내쫓았다. 13 그래서 포도원 주인은 말하였다. ‘어떻게 할까? 내 사랑하는 아들을 보내야겠다. 설마 그들이 내 아들이야 존중하겠지!’ 14 그러나 농부들은 그를 보고서, 서로 의논하며 말하였다. ‘이 사람은 상속자다. 그를 죽여 버리자. 그래서 유산이 우리 차지가 되게 하자.’ 15 그리하여 그들은 주인의 아들을 포도원 바깥으로 내쫓아서 죽였다. 그러니 포도원 주인이 그들을 어떻게 하겠느냐? 16 주인은 와서 그들을 죽이고, 포도원을 다른 사람들에게 줄 것이다.” 사람들이 이 말씀을 듣고서 말하였다. “그런 일이 없기를 바랍니다.” 17 그 때에 예수께서 그들을 똑바로 바라보시고 말씀하셨다. “그러면, t‘집 짓는 사람들이 버린 돌이 집 모퉁이의 t머릿돌이 되었다’ 하고 기록된 말은 무슨 뜻이냐?

18 누구든지 그 돌 위에 떨어지면, 그는 부스러질 것이요, 그 돌이 어느 사람 위에 떨어지면 그를 가루로 만들 것이다.” 19 율법학자들과 대제사장들은 예수가 자기네들을 겨냥하여 이 비유를 말씀하신 줄 알았다. 그래서 그들은 바로 그 때에 예수께 손을 대어 잡으려고 하였으나, 백성을 두려워하였다.

세금에 대한 질문

(마 22:15-22; 막 12:13-17)

20 그리하여 그들은 기회를 엿보다가, 정탐꾼들을 보내서, 이들이 거짓으로 의로운 사람들인 체 행세하면서 예수께로 접근하게 하여, 그의 말씀을 책잡게 하였다. 그렇게 해서, 그들은 예수를 총독의 치리권과 사법권에 넘겨주려고 하였다. 21 그들은 예수께 이렇게 물었다. “선생님, 우리는 선생님이, 바르게 말씀하시고, 가르치시고, 또 사람을 겉모양으로 가리지 않으시고, 하나님의 길을 참되게 가르치고 계시는 줄 압니다. 22 우리가 황제에게 세금을 바치는 것이 옳습니까, 옳지 않습니까?” 23 예수께서는 그들의 속셈을 알아채시고서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. 24 “데나리온 한 닢을 나에게 보여다오. 이 돈에 누구의 얼굴상과 글자가 새겨져 있느냐?” 그들이 대답하였다. “황제의 것입니다.” 25 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “그러면 황제의 것은 황제에게 돌려주고, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 돌려드려라.” 26 그들은 백성 앞에서 예수의 말씀을 책잡지 못하고, 그의 답변에 놀라서 입을 다물었다.

부활 논쟁

(마 22:23-33; 막 12:18-27)

27 부활이 없다고 주장하는 사두개파 사람 가운데 몇 사람이 다가와서, 예수께 물었다. 28 “선생님, 모세가 우리에게 써 주기를 ‘어떤 사람의 형이 자식이 없이 아내를 남겨 두고 죽으면, 그 동생이 그 형수를 맞아들여서 뒤를 이을 아들을 자기 형에게 세워주어야 한다’ 하였습니다. 29 그런데 일곱 형제가 있었습니다. 맏이가 아내를 얻어서 살다가 자식이 없이 죽었습니다. 30 그래서 둘째가 그 여자를 맞아들였고, 31 그 다음에 셋째가 그 여자를 맞아들였습니다. 일곱 형제가 다 그렇게 하였는데, 모두 자식을 남기지 못하고 죽었습니다. 32 나중에 그 여자도 죽었습니다. 33 그러니 부활 때에 그 여자는 그들 가운데서 누구의 아내가 되겠습니까? 일곱이 다 그 여자를 아내로 맞아들였으니 말입니다.” 34  예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “이 세상 사람들은 장가도 가고, 시집도 가지만, 35 저 세상과 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아나는 부활에 참여할 자격을 얻은 사람은 장가도 가지 않고 시집도 가지 않는다. 36 그들은 천사와 같아서, 더 이상 죽지도 않는다. 그들은 부활의 자녀들이므로, 하나님의 자녀들이다. 37 죽은 사람들이 살아난다는 사실은 모세도 가시나무 떨기 이야기가 나오는 대목에서 보여 주었는데, 거기서 그는 주님을 t‘아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님’이라고 부르고 있다. 38 하나님은 죽은 사람들의 하나님이 아니라, 살아 있는 사람들의 하나님이시다. 모든 사람은 하나님과의 관계 속에서 살고 있다.” 39 이 말씀을 듣고서, 율법학자 가운데 몇 사람이 말하였다. “선생님, 옳은 말씀입니다.” 40 그들은 감히 예수께 더 이상 질문을 하지 못하였다.

그리스도와 다윗의 자손

(마 22:41-46; 막 12:35-37)

41  예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “어떻게 사람들이 t그리스도를 다윗의 자손이라고 하느냐? 42 다윗이 친히 시편에서 말하기를 t‘주님께서 내 주께 말씀하셨다.

43 「내가 네 원수들을 네 발 아래에 굴복시킬 때까지, 너는 내 오른쪽에 앉아 있어라」’ 하였다.

44 다윗이 그리스도를 주라고 불렀는데, 어떻게 그가 다윗의 자손이 되겠느냐?”

율법학자들을 책망하시다

(마 23:1-36; 막 12:38-40; 눅 11:37-54)

45 모든 백성이 듣고 있는 가운데, 예수께서는 자기 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. 46 “율법학자들을 조심하여라. 그들은 예복을 입고 다니기를 원하고, 장터에서 인사 받는 것과 회당에서 높은 자리와 잔치에서 윗자리를 좋아한다. 47 그들은 과부들의 가산을 삼키고, 남에게 보이려고 길게 기도한다. 그들은 더 엄한 심판을 받을 것이다.”

A Question //about Jesus' Authority

(Matthew 21.23-27; Mark 11.27-33)

1 One day, Jesus was teaching in the temple and telling the good news. So the chief priests, the teachers, and the nation's leaders

2 asked him, “What right do you have to do these things? Who gave you this authority?”
3 Jesus replied, “I want to ask you a question.

4 Who gave John the right to baptize? Was it God in heaven or merely some human being?”
5 They talked this over and said to each other, “We can't say God gave John this right. Jesus will ask us why we didn't believe John.

6 And we can't say it was merely some human who gave John the right to baptize. The crowd will stone us to death, because they think John was a prophet.”

7 So they told Jesus, “We don't know who gave John the right to baptize.”

8 Jesus replied, “Then I won't tell you who gave me the right to do what I do.”

Renters of a Vineyard

(Matthew 21.33-46; Mark 12.1-12)

9  t Jesus told the people this story:
A man once planted a vineyard and rented it out. Then he left the country for a long time. 10 When it was time to harvest the crop, he sent a servant to ask the renters for his share of the grapes. But they beat up the servant and sent him away without anything. 11 So the owner sent another servant. The renters also beat him up. They insulted him terribly and sent him away without a thing.

12 The owner sent a third servant. He was also beaten terribly and thrown out of the vineyard.

13 The owner then said to himself, “What am I going to do? I know what. I'll send my son, the one I love so much. They will surely respect him!”
14 When the renters saw the owner's son, they said to one another, “Someday he will own the vineyard. Let's kill him! Then we can have it all for ourselves.”

15 So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.
Jesus asked, “What do you think the owner of the vineyard will do?

16 I'll tell you what. He will come and kill those renters and let someone else have his vineyard.”
When the people heard this, they said, “This must never happen!”
17  t But Jesus looked straight at them and said, “Then what do the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘The stone the builders tossed aside is now the most important stone of all’?

18 Anyone who stumbles over this stone will get hurt, and anyone it falls on will be smashed to pieces.”

19 The chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses knew that Jesus was talking about them when he was telling this story. They wanted to arrest him right then, but they were afraid of the people.

Paying Taxes

(Matthew 22.15-22; Mark 12.13-17)

20 Jesus' enemies kept watching him closely, because they wanted to hand him over to the Roman governor. So they sent some men who pretended to be good. But they were really spies trying to catch Jesus saying something wrong. 21 The spies said to him, “Teacher, we know you teach the truth about what God wants people to do. And you treat everyone with the same respect, no matter who they are.

22 Tell us, should we pay taxes to the Emperor or not?”
23 Jesus knew they were trying to trick him. So he told them,

24 “Show me a coin.” Then he asked, “Whose picture and name are on it?”
“The Emperor's,” they answered.
25 Then he told them, “Give the Emperor what belongs to him and give God what belongs to God.”

26 Jesus' enemies could not catch him saying anything wrong there in front of the people. They were amazed at his answer and kept quiet.

Life in the Future World

(Matthew 22.23-33; Mark 12.18-27)

27  t The Sadducees did not believe that people would rise to life after death. So some of them came to Jesus

28 t and said:
Teacher, Moses wrote that if a married man dies and has no children, his brother should marry the widow. Their first son would then be thought of as the son of the dead brother.
29 There were once seven brothers. The first one married, but died without having any children. 30 The second one married his brother's widow, and he also died without having any children. 31 The same thing happened to the third one. Finally, all seven brothers married this woman and died without having any children. 32 At last the woman died.

33 When God raises people from death, whose wife will this woman be? All seven brothers had married her.

34 Jesus answered:
The people in this world get married. 35 But in the future world no one who is worthy to rise from death will either marry

36 or die. They will be like the angels and will be God's children, because they have been raised to life.
37  t In the story about the burning bush, Moses clearly shows that people will live again. He said, “The Lord is the God worshiped by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”t

38 So the Lord isn't the God of the dead, but of the living. This means that everyone is alive as far as God is concerned.
39 Some of the teachers of the Law of Moses said, “Teacher, you have given a good answer!”

40 From then on, no one dared to ask Jesus any questions.

About David's Son

(Matthew 22.41-46; Mark 12.35-37)

41 Jesus asked, “Why do people say that the Messiah will be the son of King David?t

42 t In the book of Psalms, David himself says,
‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at my right sidet

43 until I make your enemies
into a footstool for you.’

44 David spoke of the Messiah as his Lord, so how can the Messiah be his son?”

Jesus and the Teachers //of the Law of Moses

(Matthew 23.1-36; Mark 12.38-40; Luke 11.37-54)

45 While everyone was listening to Jesus, he said to his disciples:
46 Guard against the teachers of the Law of Moses! They love to walk around in long robes, and they like to be greeted in the market. They want the front seats in the synagogues and the best seats at banquets. 47 But they cheat widows out of their homes and then pray long prayers just to show off. These teachers will be punished most of all.
