Η εξουσία του Ιησού
(Μτ 21,23-27· Μκ 11,27-33)
1 Μια μέρα που ο Ιησούς δίδασκε το λαό στο *ναό και τους μιλούσε για το χαρμόσυνο άγγελμα, πήγαν ξαφνικά οι *αρχιερείς και οι *γραμματείς μαζί με τους *πρεσβυτέρους 2 και του είπαν: «Πες μας, με ποια εξουσία τα κάνεις αυτά, ή ποιος είναι αυτός που σου έδωσε αυτή την εξουσία;» 3 Τους αποκρίθηκε: «Θα κάνω κι εγώ σ’ εσάς μια ερώτηση: πέστε μου, 4 το βάπτισμα του Ιωάννη προερχόταν από το Θεό ή από τους ανθρώπους;» 5 Αυτοί το συζήτησαν μεταξύ τους και είπαν: «Αν πούμε ότι προερχόταν από το Θεό, θα μας πει, “γιατί λοιπόν δεν πιστέψατε σ’ αυτόν;” 6 Αν πάλι πούμε ότι προερχόταν από τους ανθρώπους, όλος ο λαός θα μας *λιθοβολήσει, γιατί είναι απόλυτα βέβαιοι πως ο Ιωάννης είναι *προφήτης». 7 Γι’ αυτό η απάντησή τους ήταν ότι δεν ξέρουν από πού προέρχεται.
8 Κι ο Ιησούς τους είπε: «Ούτε κι εγώ σας λέω με ποια εξουσία τα κάνω αυτά».Η παραβολή των κακών γεωργών
(Μτ 21,33-46· Μκ 12,1-12)
9 Ο Ιησούς άρχισε να διηγείται στο λαό την ακόλουθη παραβολή: «Κάποιος άνθρωπος φύτεψε ένα αμπέλι, το νοίκιασε σε γεωργούς κι έφυγε σε άλλον τόπο για πολλά χρόνια. 10 Όταν ήρθε ο καιρός, έστειλε στους γεωργούς ένα δούλο, για να του δώσουν το μερίδιο απ’ τον καρπό του αμπελιού. Οι γεωργοί όμως τον έδειραν και τον έστειλαν πίσω με άδεια χέρια. 11 Ύστερα τους έστειλε κι άλλον δούλο, αλλά εκείνοι, τον έδειραν κι αυτόν και τον κακοποίησαν, και τον έστειλαν πίσω με άδεια χέρια. 12 Ύστερα έστειλε και τρίτον, αλλά κι αυτόν τον τραυμάτισαν και τον έδιωξαν. 13 Τότε ο ιδιοκτήτης του αμπελιού είπε: “τι να κάνω; Θα στείλω τον αγαπημένο μου γιο· ίσως όταν τον δουν να τον σεβαστούν”. 14 Όταν τον είδαν οι γεωργοί, είπαν μεταξύ τους: “αυτός είναι ο κληρονόμος· ας τον σκοτώσουμε, για να γίνει δική μας η κληρονομιά”. 15 Κι αφού τον έβγαλαν έξω από το αμπέλι, τον σκότωσαν. Τι θα τους κάνει, λοιπόν, αυτούς ο ιδιοκτήτης του αμπελιού; 16 Θα έρθει και θα εξολοθρέψει αυτούς τους γεωργούς, και θα δώσει το αμπέλι σε άλλους». Όταν το άκουσαν, είπαν: «Ποτέ τέτοιο πράγμα!»
17 Εκείνος όμως τους κοίταξε και τους είπε: «Τι σημαίνουν, λοιπόν, τα ακόλουθα λόγια της *Γραφής:
Ο λίθος που τον πέταξαν σαν άχρηστον οι οικοδόμοι
αυτός έγινε αγκωνάρι ;
18 Όποιος πέσει πάνω σ’ αυτόν το λίθο θα τσακιστεί, και σ’ όποιον πέσει ο λίθος θα τον κομματιάσει».
19 Τότε οι αρχιερείς και οι γραμματείς κατάλαβαν ότι αυτές τις παραβολές τις είπε γι’ αυτούς και θέλησαν να τον συλλάβουν εκείνη την ώρα· φοβήθηκαν όμως το λαό.Ο φόρος στο Ρωμαίο αυτοκράτορα
(Μτ 22,15-22· Μκ 12,13-17)
20 Αφού παρακολούθησαν τον Ιησού, έστειλαν κατασκόπους, που προσποιούνταν τους ευσεβείς, για να τον πιάσουν από κάποια απάντηση, ώστε να τον παραδώσουν στο Ρωμαίο διοικητή. 21 Του έκαναν λοιπόν την εξής ερώτηση: «Διδάσκαλε, ξέρουμε ότι μιλάς και διδάσκεις σωστά. Δεν επηρεάζεσαι από πρόσωπα, αλλά διδάσκεις πραγματικά το θέλημα του Θεού. 22 Επιτρέπεται να πληρώνουμε φόρο στον αυτοκράτορα ή όχι;» 23 Εκείνος κατάλαβε την πανουργία τους και τους είπε: «Γιατί μου στήνετε παγίδα; 24 Δείξτε μου ένα *δηνάριο· ποιανού είναι η εικόνα και η επιγραφή που έχει;» Εκείνοι του απάντησαν: «Του αυτοκράτορα». 25 Εκείνος τότε τους είπε: «Δώστε, λοιπόν, στον αυτοκράτορα, ό,τι ανήκει στον αυτοκράτορα, και στο Θεό ό,τι ανήκει στο Θεό».
26 Κι έτσι δεν κατάφεραν να τον πιάσουν από κάποιο λόγο μπροστά στο λαό. Έμειναν κατάπληκτοι απ’ την απάντησή του και σώπασαν.Το ερώτημα για την ανάσταση
(Μτ 22, 23-33· Μκ 12, 18-27)
27 Τον πλησίασαν τότε μερικοί από τους *Σαδδουκαίους, οι οποίοι δε δέχονται ότι υπάρχει ανάσταση, και τον ρώτησαν: 28 «Διδάσκαλε, ο Μωυσής μάς έδωσε γραπτή εντολή: αν κάποιου πεθάνει ο αδερφός, ο οποίος είναι παντρεμένος αλλά άτεκνος, να πάρει ο αδερφός του τη χήρα και να κάνει απογόνους για τον νεκρό αδερφό του. 29 Ήταν, λοιπόν, εφτά αδερφοί. Ο πρώτος παντρεύτηκε μια γυναίκα και πέθανε άτεκνος. 30 Την πήρε κι ο δεύτερος τη γυναίκα, και πέθανε κι αυτός άτεκνος. 31 Επίσης την πήρε και ο τρίτος. Το ίδιο και οι εφτά· πέθαναν χωρίς ν’ αφήσουν παιδιά. 32 Τελευταία απ’ όλους πέθανε και η γυναίκα. 33 Αυτή, λοιπόν, σε ποιον απ’ όλους αυτούς θα ανήκει στην ανάσταση; Αφού την είχαν πάρει γυναίκα τους και οι εφτά». 34 Ο Ιησούς τότε τους απάντησε: «Οι άνθρωποι που ζουν σ’ αυτόν τον κόσμο, παντρεύονται και παντρεύουν. 35 Όσοι όμως αξιωθούν ν’ αναστηθούν από τους νεκρούς και να ζήσουν στον καινούριο κόσμο, αυτοί ούτε θα νυμφεύονται ούτε θα παντρεύονται. 36 Κι αυτό, γιατί δε θα υπάρχει γι’ αυτούς θάνατος· σαν αναστημένοι άνθρωποι που θα είναι, θα είναι ίσοι με τους *αγγέλους και παιδιά του Θεού. 37 Ότι άλλωστε οι νεκροί ανασταίνονται, αυτό το αναφέρει κι ο Μωυσής, όταν μιλάει για τη βάτο, και λέει ότι ο Κύριος είναι Θεός του *Αβραάμ, Θεός του Ισαάκ και Θεός του Ιακώβ. 38 Ο Θεός δεν είναι Θεός νεκρών αλλά ζωντανών, γιατί γι’ αυτόν όλοι είναι ζωντανοί». 39 Μερικοί τότε από τους γραμματείς τού είπαν: «Καλά τα είπες, Διδάσκαλε».
40 Από τότε δεν τολμούσαν πια να τον ρωτήσουν τίποτε.Ο Μεσσίας και ο Δαβίδ
(Μτ 22,41-46· Μκ 12,35-37)
41 Τότε τους ρώτησε κι ο Ιησούς: «Πώς λένε ότι ο *Μεσσίας είναι απόγονος του Δαβίδ;
42 Ο ίδιος ο Δαβίδ λέει στο βιβλίο των Ψαλμών:
Είπε ο Κύριος στον Κύριό μου:
κάθισε στα *δεξιά μου
43 ώσπου να υποτάξω τους εχθρούς σου
κάτω απ’ τα πόδια σου.
44 Αφού, λοιπόν, ο Δαβίδ τον ονομάζει “Κύριο”, πώς μπορεί να είναι απόγονός του;»Η υποκρισία των γραμματέων
(Μτ 23,1-36· Μκ 12,38-40)
45 Την ώρα που όλος ο λαός τον άκουγε, είπε στους μαθητές του: 46 «Να φυλάγεστε από τους γραμματείς, που τους αρέσει να περπατούν με τις επίσημες στολές τους και θέλουν να τους χαιρετούν στις αγορές με σεβασμό. Τους αρέσουν οι πρωτοκαθεδρίες στις *συναγωγές και οι καλύτερες θέσεις στα δείπνα. 47 Για να φανούν καλοί, κάνουν μεγάλες προσευχές, κατατρώγουν όμως τις περιουσίες των χηρών. Αυτοί θα τιμωρηθούν με ιδιαίτερη αυστηρότητα».
Luke 20
1 And it came to pass, on one of the days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, there came upon him the chief priests and the scribes with the elders;2 and they spake, saying unto him, Tell us: By what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?3 And he answered and said unto them, I also will ask you a question; and tell me:4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men?5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why did ye not believe him?6 But if we shall say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.7 And they answered, that they knew not whence it was.8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.9 And he began to speak unto the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country for a long time.10 And at the season he sent unto the husbandmen a servant, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.11 And he sent yet another servant: and him also they beat, and handled him shamefully, and sent him away empty.12 And he sent yet a third: and him also they wounded, and cast him forth.13 And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will reverence him.14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned one with another, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.15 And they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do unto them?16 He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.17 But he looked upon them, and said, What then is this that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner?
18 Every one that falleth on that stone shall be broken to pieces; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.19 And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him in that very hour; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he spake this parable against them.20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who feigned themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his speech, so as to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor.21 And they asked him, saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest not the person of any, but of a truth teachest the way of God:22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them,24 Show me a denarius. Whose image and superscription hath it? And they said, Caesar’s.25 And he said unto them, Then render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.26 And they were not able to take hold of the saying before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.27 And there came to him certain of the Sadducees, they that say that there is no resurrection;28 and they asked him, saying, Teacher, Moses wrote unto us, that if a man’s brother die, having a wife, and he be childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died childless;30 and the second:31 and the third took her; and likewise the seven also left no children, and died.32 Afterward the woman also died.33 In the resurrection therefore whose wife of them shall she be? for the seven had her to wife.34 And Jesus said unto them, The sons of this world marry, and are given in marriage:35 but they that are accounted worthy to attain to that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:36 for neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the place concerning the Bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.38 Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.39 And certain of the scribes answering said, Teacher, thou hast well said.40 For they durst not any more ask him any question.41 And he said unto them, How say they that the Christ is David’s son?42 For David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
43 Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.
44 David therefore calleth him Lord, and how is he his son?45 And in the hearing of all the people he said unto his disciples,46 Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and love salutations in the marketplaces, and chief seats in the synagogues, and chief places at feasts;47 who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater condemnation.
