LUCAS 21

La ofrenda de la viuda pobre

1 Jesús estaba en el templo, y vio cómo algunos ricos ponían dinero en las cajas de las ofrendas.2 También vio a una viuda que echó dos moneditas de muy poco valor.

3 Entonces Jesús dijo a sus discípulos:

—Les aseguro que esta viuda pobre dio más que todos los ricos.

4 Porque todos ellos dieron de lo que les sobraba; pero ella, que es tan pobre, dio todo lo que tenía para vivir.

El templo será destruido

5 Algunas personas estaban hablando de los hermosos bloques de piedra que se habían usado para construir el templo, y de los preciosos adornos colocados en sus paredes. Jesús dijo:

6 «Llegará el momento en que todo esto será destruido. ¡Ni una sola pared del templo quedará en pie!»

Prepárense para el fin

7 Los discípulos le preguntaron a Jesús:

—¿Cuándo será destruido el templo? ¿Cuál será la señal de que todo eso está por suceder?

8 Jesús les respondió:

—¡Cuidado! No se dejen engañar. Muchos vendrán y se harán pasar por mí, diciendo a la gente: “Yo soy el Mesías”, o “Ya ha llegado la hora”. Pero no les hagan caso.9 Ustedes oirán que hay guerras y revoluciones en algunos países, pero no se asusten. Esas cosas pasarán, pero todavía no será el fin del mundo.10 Los países pelearán unos contra otros,

11 y habrá grandes terremotos en muchos lugares. En otras partes, la gente no tendrá nada para comer, y muchos sufrirán de enfermedades terribles. En el cielo aparecerán cosas muy extrañas, que los harán temblar de miedo.

12 »Antes de que pase todo esto, habrá gente que los perseguirá y los tomará presos. Los entregará a las autoridades de la sinagoga y los meterá en la cárcel. Por ser mis discípulos, los llevarán ante los gobernadores y los reyes para que los castiguen.
13 »Ésa será una oportunidad para que ustedes hablen de mí.14 No se preocupen en pensar qué dirán para defenderse.

15 Yo les ayudaré a contestar con inteligencia, y ninguno de sus enemigos podrá contradecirlos ni decir que están equivocados.
16 »Sus padres, hermanos, familiares y amigos los entregarán a las autoridades. A algunos de ustedes los matarán.17 Todo el mundo los odiará por ser mis discípulos.18 ¡Pero no se preocupen!

19 Si ustedes se mantienen firmes hasta el fin, se salvarán.
20 »Cuando vean a los ejércitos rodear la ciudad de Jerusalén, sepan que pronto será destruida.21 Los que estén en la ciudad, salgan de ella; los que estén en los pueblos de la región de Judea, huyan hacia las montañas; y los que estén en el campo, no regresen a la ciudad.22 En esos días, Dios castigará a los desobedientes, tal como estaba anunciado en la Biblia.23 Las mujeres que en ese momento estén embarazadas van a sufrir mucho. ¡Pobrecitas de las que tengan hijos recién nacidos! Porque todos en este país sufrirán mucho y serán castigados.

24 A unos los matarán con espada, y a otros los llevarán prisioneros a otros países. La ciudad de Jerusalén será destruida y conquistada por gente de otro país, hasta que llegue el momento en que también esa gente sea destruida.

El regreso del Hijo del hombre

25 »Pasarán cosas extrañas en el sol, la luna y las estrellas. En todos los países, la gente estará confundida y asustada por el terrible ruido de las olas del mar.26 La gente vivirá en tal terror que se desmayará al pensar en el fin del mundo. ¡Todas las potencias del cielo serán derribadas! t27 Esas cosas serán una señal de que estoy por volver al mundo. Porque entonces me verán a mí, el Hijo del hombre, venir en las nubes con mucho poder y gloria.

28 Cuando suceda todo eso, estén atentos, porque Dios los salvará pronto.

La lección de la higuera

29 Jesús también les puso este ejemplo:

«Aprendan la enseñanza que les da la higuera, o cualquier otro árbol.30 Cuando a un árbol le salen hojas nuevas, ustedes saben que ya se acerca el verano.31 Del mismo modo, cuando vean que sucede todo lo que yo les he dicho, sepan que el reino de Dios pronto comenzará.32 Les aseguro que todo esto sucederá antes de que mueran algunos de los que ahora están vivos.

33 El cielo y la tierra dejarán de existir, pero mis palabras permanecerán para siempre.

Jesús advierte a sus discípulos

34 »¡Tengan cuidado! No pasen el tiempo pensando en banquetes y borracheras, ni en las muchas cosas que esta vida les ofrece. Porque el fin del mundo podría sorprenderlos en cualquier momento,35 y ustedes serán como un animal que, de pronto, se ve atrapado en una trampa.

36 Por eso, estén siempre alerta. Oren en todo momento, para que puedan escapar de todas las cosas terribles que van a suceder. Así podrán estar conmigo, el Hijo del hombre.»

37 Jesús enseñaba en el templo todos los días, y por las noches iba al Monte de los Olivos.

38 Cada mañana, la gente iba al templo para escuchar a Jesús.

Luke 21

1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men that were casting their gifts into the treasury.2 And he saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than they all:4 for all these did of their superfluity cast in unto the gifts; but she of her want did cast in all the living that she had.5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and offerings, he said,6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.7 And they asked him, saying, Teacher, when therefore shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when these things are about to come to pass?8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not led astray: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am he; and, The time is at hand: go ye not after them.9 And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified: for these things must needs come to pass first; but the end is not immediately.10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom;11 and there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.12 But before all these things, they shall lay their hands on you, and shall persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake.13 It shall turn out unto you for a testimony.14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to answer:15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or to gainsay.16 But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.18 And not a hair of your head shall perish.19 In your patience ye shall win your souls.20 But when ye see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand.21 Then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains; and let them that are in the midst of her depart out; and let not them that are in the country enter therein.22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.23 Woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath unto this people.24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.25 And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows;26 men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.28 But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads; because your redemption draweth nigh.29 And he spake to them a parable: Behold the fig tree, and all the trees:30 when they now shoot forth, ye see it and know of your own selves that the summer is now nigh.31 Even so ye also, when ye see these things coming to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh.32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all things be accomplished.33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.34 But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:35 for so shall it come upon all them that dwell on the face of all the earth.36 But watch ye at every season, making supplication, that ye may prevail to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.37 And every day he was teaching in the temple; and every night he went out, and lodged in the mount that is called Olivet.38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.
