Planer på att döda Jesus

1 Nu närmade sig påskhögtident.

2 Och översteprästerna och laglärarnat sökte fortfarande efter ett sätt att bli av med Jesus. Men de ville döda honom i hemlighet, eftersom de var rädda för folkets reaktion.

Judas beslutar att förråda Jesus

3 Då for Satan in i Judas Iskariot, som var en av Jesus tolv närmaste efterföljare.4 Judas gick till översteprästerna och officerarna vid tempelvakten för att diskutera med dem hur han skulle kunna överlämna Jesus åt dem.5 De blev mycket glada och erbjöd honom en summa pengar,

6 som han genast accepterade. Och från den stunden sökte han efter ett tillfälle att i hemlighet förråda Jesus.

Jesus efterföljare förbereder påskmåltiden

7 Så kom den första dagen i påskhögtident, den dag när påsklammet skulle slaktas.

8 Då skickade Jesus iväg sina båda efterföljare Petrus och Johannes och sa: "Gå och gör i ordning påskmåltiden, så att vi kan äta tillsammans."

9 "Var vill du att vi ska göra det?" frågade de.
10 Han svarade: "När ni kommer in i Jerusalem, stöter ni genast på en man som bär på en vattenkruka. Följ efter honom till det hus som han går in i11 och säg till mannen som äger huset: 'Vår Mästare undrar var salen är, där han kan äta påskmåltiden tillsammans med sina efterföljare.'

12 Han kommer då att ta med er en trappa upp till ett stort rum där det redan är dukat. Gör i ordning måltiden där."

13 Då gick de iväg och fann att allt var precis som Jesus hade sagt, och de ordnade med påskmåltiden.

Jesus och hans efterföljare äter den sista måltiden

14 När det sedan var dags att äta påskmåltiden, slog sig Jesus och hans tolv sändebud ner vid bordet.
15 Och han sa till dem: "Jag har längtat så mycket efter att få äta den här påskmåltiden med er innan mitt lidande börjar.

16 För jag säger er nu att jag inteinte kommer att äta den igen förrän vi ska fira den fullkomliga påsken i Guds nya värld.t"
17 Sedan tog han en bägare vin, och när han hade tackat Gud för vinet, sa han: "Ta det här och dela det mellan er.

18 Jag försäkrar er, att från och med nu ska jag inte dricka vin igen, förrän Gud regerar i sin nya värld.t"

19 Efter det tog han ett bröd, och när han hade tackat Gud för det, bröt han det i bitar och gav det till dem och sa: "Detta är min kropp som ska offras för er. Fira denna måltid till minne av mitt lidande och min död."
20 Efter måltiden tog han på samma sätt bägaren med vinet och sa: "Denna bägare är det nya förbundet mellan Gud och människor - ett förbund som ingås genom att mitt blod offras för er.21 Men här vid bordet finns en man som kommer att förråda mig, trots att han äter tillsammans med mig.t

22 För jag, Människosonent, måste dö. Det är en del av Guds plan. Men olycka ska drabba den människa som förråder mig!"

23 Då började hans efterföljare fråga varandra vem som skulle kunna göra något sådant.

Vem är mest betydelsefull?

24 Efter en stund gick hans efterföljare istället över till att diskutera vem av dem som kunde anses vara mest betydelsefull.
25 Då sa Jesus till dem: "I den här världen uppträder kungar och makthavare som tyranner, och vill ändå hyllas som 'folkets beskyddare'!26 Men så får det inte vara bland er. Den av er som vill vara mest betydelsefull ska vara lägst av alla, och den som vill vara ledare ska vara de andras tjänare.27 I den här världen räknas den som äter vid bordet som större än den som tjänar vid bordet. Men följ mitt exempel. Jag är här hos er som en tjänare.28-29 Men en dag ska ni som har varit trogna mot mig under dessa svåra dagar, få samma kungliga makt av mig som jag har fått av min Far i himlen.

30 Och då ska ni få äta och dricka vid mitt bord i min nya världt, och ni ska få sitta på troner och döma Israels tolv stammar.

Jesus förutsäger att Petrus ska svika honom

31 Simon, min vän, Satan har begärt att få pröva er, för att se om er tro är äkta.t

32 Men jag har bett för dig att du inte helt ska tappa tron. Och när du har ångrat dig och vänt om till mig igen, styrk då tron hos dina bröder."

33 Simon Petrus svarade: "Herre, jag är beredd att både gå i fängelse och dö för dig."

34 Men Jesus sa: "Petrus, jag säger dig, att innan tuppen hinner gala imorgon bitti, kommer du tre gånger att ha förnekat att du ens känner mig."
35 Sedan frågade Jesus dem: "När jag sände ut er, och ni varken hade pengar, packning eller extra kläder med er, saknade ni något då?"
"Nej, ingenting", svarade de.36 "Men nu", sa han, "ska ni ta med er både pengar och packning. Och om ni inte har något svärd, så sälj era kläder och köp ett.

37 För jag försäkrar er, att de här orden i Skriften ska bli verklighet genom det som händer mig: 'Han räknades som en brottsling't. Ja, allt som Gud har förutsagt om mig ska nu slutföras."
38 "Herre", svarade de, "vi har två svärd."
"Det räcker", sa Jesus.

Jesus ber i Getsemane

39 Jesus lämnade sedan staden tillsammans med sina efterföljare och gick som vanligt till Olivberget.

40 Där sa han till dem: "Be till er Far i himlen så att frestelserna inte segrar över er."
41 Själv gick han en liten bit längre bort och föll på knä och bad:

42 "Far i himlen, om det är möjligt, så låt mig slippa det lidande som väntar. Men låt det bli som du vill, inte som jag vill."
43 Då visade sig en ängel från himlen och gav honom ny kraft.44 Men hans ångest blev allt större, och han bad så intensivt, att hans svett föll som blodsdroppar till marken.45 Till slut reste han sig och gick tillbaka till sina efterföljare och såg att de hade somnat, utmattade av sorg.

46 Då sa han till dem: "Hur kan ni sova nu! Res er upp och be att frestelserna inte segrar över er."

Jesus blir förrådd och arresterad

47 Medan Jesus fortfarande talade kom en stor folkhop dit ledd av Judas, en av Jesus tolv närmaste efterföljare. Judas gick fram till Jesus för att ge honom en hälsningskyss.

48 Men Jesus sa: "Judas, hur kan du förråda mig, Människosonent, med en kyss?"
49 När Jesus andra efterföljare förstod vad som höll på att hända, frågade de: "Herre, ska vi försvara oss? Vi har ju våra svärd!"

50 Och en av dem slog till mot översteprästens tjänare och högg av honom högra örat.

51 Men Jesus sa: "Inget mer våld!" Och så rörde han vid mannens öra och helade honom.
52 Sedan vände sig Jesus till de överstepräster och officerare vid tempelvakten och folkets ledare som hade kommit dit för att gripa honom, och sa: "Är jag en så farlig brottsling att ni var tvungna att beväpna er med svärd och klubbor för att gripa mig?

53 Varför arresterade ni mig inte på tempelplatsen? Dag efter dag var jag tillsammans med er där utan att ni rörde mig. Men nu är det dags för er att handla, nu har mörkrets makter fritt spelrum."

Petrus förnekar att han känner Jesus

54 Då grep de Jesus och ledde honom till översteprästens hus, och Petrus följde med på avstånd.

55 Inne på gården gjorde folket upp en eld för att värma sig och satte sig runt den, och Petrus slog sig ner mitt ibland dem.

56 En tjänsteflicka la då märke till honom i eldskenet och började titta närmare på honom. Till slut sa hon: "Den där mannen var också tillsammans med Jesus!"

57 Men Petrus protesterade och sa: "Nej, jag känner inte den mannen."
58 Efter en stund fick en annan syn på honom och sa: "Du är också en av dem!"
"Nej, det är jag inte", svarade Petrus.

59 Ungefär en timma senare var det en tredje som påstod: "Jag är säker på att den där karln är en av Jesus efterföljare, han är ju från Galileen."

60 Men Petrus sa: "Vad pratar du om? Jag förstår inte vad du menar." Och just när han sa det gol tuppen.
61 I samma stund vände sig Herren Jesus om och såg på Petrus, och då plötsligt kom Petrus ihåg vad Herren hade sagt till honom: "Innan tuppen gal imorgon bitti ska du förneka mig tre gånger."

62 Och han gick ut från gården och grät förtvivlat.
63-64 De män som bevakade Jesus började nu håna honom. De band för hans ögon och slog honom och sa: "Visa att du är profet! Avslöja med Guds hjälp vem som slog dig."

65 Och de förolämpade honom på alla möjliga sätt.

Det judiska rådet vill se Jesus dömd till döden

66 Tidigt nästa morgon samlades det judiska rådett, det vill säga folkets ledare och översteprästerna och laglärarnat. Och man lät hämta Jesus och ställde honom inför detta råd.67 Han svarade: "Om jag säger ja, så kommer ni inte att tro mig,68 och om jag börjar fråga er om något så kommer ni inte att svara.

69 Men från och med nu kommer jag, Människosonent, att sitta på Guds högra sida och regera tillsammans med honom som har all makt.t"
70 Upprörda ropade de då allihop: "Påstår du alltså att du är Guds Son?"
Men Jesus svarade: "Det är ni själva som kallar mig det."

71 Då ropade de igen: "Vi behöver inga flera vittnen. Nu har vi hört honom säga det själv."

Luke 22

Judas’ Decision to Betray Jesus

1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread,s which is called the Passover, was approaching.

2 Thet chief priests and the experts in the lawt were trying to find some wayt to executet Jesus,t for they were afraid of the people.s
3 Thent Satans entered Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve.t4 He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guardt how he mightt betray Jesus,t handing him over to them.t5 Theyt were delighteds and arranged to give him money.s

6 Sot Judast agreed and began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesust when no crowd was present.ts

The Passover

7 Then the day for the feastt of Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.s8 Jesust sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passovers for us to eat.”t9 Theyt said to him, “Where do you want us to preparet it?”10 He said to them, “Listen,t when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of waters will meet you.s Follow him into the house that he enters,11 and tell the owner of the house,t ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’12 Then he will show you a large furnished room upstairs. Make preparations there.”

13 Sot they went and found thingst just as he had told them,s and they prepared the Passover.

The Lord’s Supper

14 Nowt when the hour came, Jesust took his place at the tablet and the apostles joinedt him.15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desiredt to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.16 For I tell you, I will not eat it againt until it is fulfilleds in the kingdom of God.”s17 Thent he took a cup,s and after giving thanks he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves.18 For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruitt of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”s19 Thent he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my bodys which is given for you.s Do this in remembrance of me.”

20 And in the same way he tookt the cup after they had eaten,t saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenants in my blood.

A Final Discourse

21 “But look, the hand of the one who betrayss me is with me on the table.s22 For the Son of Man is to go just as it has been determined,s but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

23 Sot they began to question one another as to which of them it could possibly be who would do this.
24 A dispute also startedt among them over which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.t25 Sot Jesust said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’s26 Not so with you;t instead the one who is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leadert like the one who serves.s

27 For who is greater, the one who is seated at the table,t or the one who serves? Is it nott the one who is seated at the table? But I am among you as ones who serves.
28 “You are the ones who have remainedt with me in my trials.29 Thust I grants to you a kingdom,t just as my Father granted to me,

30 that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sitt on thrones judgings the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 “Simon,s Simon, pay attention!t Satan has demanded to have you all,s to sift you like wheat,s32 but I have prayed for you, Simon,s that your faith may not fail.s Whent you have turned back,t strengthens your brothers.”33 But Petert said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”s

34 Jesus replied,t “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crows today until you have denieds three times that you know me.”
35 Thent Jesust said to them, “When I sent you out with no money bag,t or traveler’s bag,t or sandals, you didn’t lacks anything, did you?” They replied,t “Nothing.”36 He said to them, “But now, the one whot has a money bag must take it, and likewise a traveler’s bagt too. And the one who has no sword must sell his cloak and buy one.37 For I tell you that this scripture must bes fulfilled in me, ‘And he was counted with the transgressors.’ts For what is written about me is being fulfilled.”t

38 Sot they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.”s Then he told them, “It is enough.”s

On the Mount of Olives

39 Thent Jesust went out and made his way,t as he customarily did, to the Mount of Olives,s and the disciples followed him.40 When he came to the place,s he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”s41 He went away from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed,42 “Father, if you are willing, taket this cups away from me. Yet not my will but yourss be done.”43 Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.44 And in his anguisht he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.]sss45 Whent he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, exhaustedt from grief.

46 Sot he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation!”s

Betrayal and Arrest

47 While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd appeared,t and the man named Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He walked upt to Jesus to kiss him.s48 But Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”s49 Whent those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, shouldt we use our swords?”s50 Thent one of thems struck the high priest’s slave,t cutting off his right ear.51 But Jesus said,t “Enough of this!” And he touched the man’st ear and healeds him.52 Thent Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard,t and the elders who had come out to get him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs like you would against an outlaw?t

53 Day after day when I was with you in the temple courts,t you did not arrest me.t But this is your hour,t and that of the powert of darkness!”

Jesus’ Condemnation and Peter’s Denials

54 Thent they arrestedt Jesus,t led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house.s But Peter was following at a distance.55 When they had made a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.56 Then a slave girl,t seeing him as he sat in the firelight, stared at him and said, “This man was with him too!”57 But Petert denied it: “Woman,s I don’t knows him!”58 Thent a little later someone elses saw him and said, “You are one of them too.” But Peter said, “Man,t I am not!”59 And after about an hour still another insisted,t “Certainly this man was with him, because he too is a Galilean.”s60 But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” At that moment,t while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.t61 Thent the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered the word of the Lord,t how he had said to him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”

62 And he went outside and wept bitterly.s
63 Nowt the men who were holding Jesust under guard began to mock him and beat him.64 Theyt blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly,t “Prophesy! Who hit you?”ts

65 They also said many other things against him, revilingt him.
66 When day came, the council of the elders of the people gathered together, both the chief priests and the experts in the law.t Thent they led Jesust away to their councils67 and said, “Ift you are the Christ,ts tell us.” But he said to them, “Ift I tell you, you will nott believe,68 and ift I ask you, you will nott answer.69 But from now onsthe Son of Man will be seated at the right hands of the powers of God.”70 Sot they all said, “Are you the Son of God,s then?” He answeredt them, “You says that I am.”

71 Thent they said, “Why do we need further testimony? We have heard it ourselvess from his own lips!”t
