二二

1 　イースト菌を入れないパンを食べる、ユダヤ人の過越の祭りが近づきました。　2 祭司長や他の宗教的指導者たちは、何とかイエスを殺そうと、あれこれ陰謀を巡らしていました。　群衆の暴動を引き起こさずにイエスを葬り去るうまい方法がないものかと、やっきになっていたのです。
3 　さて、十二人の弟子の一人イスカリオテのユダの心に、サタンが忍び込みました。　4 ユダはわざわざ祭司長や神殿の警備隊長たちのところへ出かけ、イエスを売り渡す一番よい方法を相談しました。　5 この協力に彼らは大喜びでした。　ほうびをやる約束までしたほどです。　6 それでユダは、群衆が回りにいない時にひそかにイエスを逮捕しようと、チャンスをうかがい始めました。
7 　さて、過越の小羊を殺し、イースト菌を入れないパンといっしょに食べる、過越の日になりました。　8 イエスはペテロとヨハネを先にやり、過越の食事をする場所を捜させました。
9 　「どこへ行けば、よろしいでしょう。」
10 　「エルサレムに入るとすぐ、水がめを運んでいる男に出会うから、あとについて行きなさい。　11 彼が入った家の主人に、『私どもの先生が、弟子たちといっしょに過越の食事のできる客間を見せていただきたい、と申しておりますが』と言いなさい。　12 主人は、用意万端ととのった、二階の広間を見せてくれるでしょう。　そこで食事の用意をしなさい。　さあ、急いで。」
13 　二人が町に行ってみると、何もかも言われたとおりです。　こうして、食事の準備はできあがりました。
最後の晩餐
14 　やがて時間になり、一同は、その広間で、そろって食卓に着きました。　15 まず口を切ったのは、イエスです。　「苦しみの始まる前に、ぜひ、いっしょに過越の食事をしたいと思っていました。　16 今だから言いますが、神の国で過越が実現するまで、わたしは二度と過越の食事をしません。」
17 　それから、ぶどう酒の杯を取り、感謝の祈りをささげてから、こう言われました。　「これを分け合いなさい。　18 わたしは神の国が来るまで、二度とぶどう酒は飲みません。」
19 　次にパンを取り、神に感謝してから、それをちぎり、弟子たち一人一人に分け与えながら言われました。　「これはあなたがたに与える私の体です。　わたしの記念に、食べなさい。」
20 　食事のあと、杯を弟子たちに渡して言われました。　「このぶどう酒は、神があなたがたを救ってくださるという新しい契約を保証するものです。　つまり、あなたがたのたましいを買い戻すために、わたしが流す血の代わりなのです。　21 それなのに、この食事にいっしょに座っている一人が、わたしを裏切るのです。　22 わたしは死ななければなりません。　それが神のご計画なのです。　だが、裏切り者には、どんな恐ろしいのろいが待ち受けていることでしょうか......。」
23 　弟子たちは、そんなことをするのは、いったいだれだろう、といぶかりました。
24 　それが一段落すると、やがて実現する御国で、だれが一番偉いかということで、ああでもない、こうでもないと議論を始めました。
25 　イエスは、この有様をご覧になって言われました。　「この世では、王や高官たちが、支配者として権力をほしいままにしています。　26 だが、あなたがたの間では違います。　一番よく人に仕える人こそ、指導者になるのです。　27 この世では、主人が食卓に着き、召使に給仕をさせます。　だが、あなたがたの間では、それではいけません。　このわたしが給仕してあげるのですから。　28 だがあなたがたは、わたしにふりかかった、さまざまの試練の時に、よくいっしょに耐え抜いてくれました。　29 だから、父が、わたしに御国をお任せくださったように、わたしも、あなたがたにすばらしい特権をあげましょう。　30 御国で、わたしの食卓に着き、共に食事をする特権、また王座に座って、イスラエルの十二の部族をさばく特権です。
31 　シモン、シモン。　いいですか。　サタンがあなたがたを麦のように、ふるいにかけることを願い出ました。　32 だが、安心しなさい。　あなたの信仰が全くだめにならないように、祈ってあげました。　だから、悔い改めて立ち直った時には、仲間の者たちもしっかり立てるように、力づけてやりなさい。」
33 　するとシモンは、とんでもないといった顔で、きっぱりと言いきりました。　「主よ、何をおっしゃるのです！　私は牢獄までもついてまいります。　ごいっしょに死ぬ覚悟もできております。」
34 　「ペテロよ。　残念ですが、はっきり言います。　明日の朝、鶏が鳴くまでに、あなたは三度、わたしを知らないと言いはるでしょう。」
35 　それから、弟子たちにお尋ねになりました。　「前に、神のすばらしい知らせを伝えようと、あなたがたを派遣した時、わずかの金も、旅行袋も、着替えも持たせませんでした。　その時、旅先で何か不自由しましたか。」
「いいえ、ちっとも。」
36 　「だが今は、手持ちの物があれば、旅行袋も財布も持っていきなさい。　剣がなかったら、着物を売り払ってでも手に入れなさい。　37 『彼は罪人の一人に数えられた』という預言どおりのことが、わたしに起こるからです。　そうです。　預言者がわたしについて預言したことは、何もかも、そのとおりになるのです。」
38 　「先生。　剣なら二振りありますが。」
「そうですか、それで十分です。」
逮捕されたイエス
39 　それから、イエスは弟子たちと連れ立って部屋を出、いつものようにオリーブ山に行かれました。　40 「誘惑に負けないように、神に祈りなさい。」
41-42 こう言い残すと、イエスは、石を投げれば届くあたりまで歩いて行き、ひざまずいて祈り始められました。　「父よ。許していただけるなら、どうぞこの恐ろしい杯を取り除いてください。　ですが......、わたしの思いどおりにではなく、あなたのお心のままになさってください。」　43 この時、天から御使いが現われ、イエスを力づけました。　44 イエスは苦しみもだえながら、いよいよ力を込めて祈られます。　大粒の汗が、まるで血のしずくのように、したたり落ちました。　45 ようやく立ち上がり、弟子たちのところに帰って来ると、どうでしょう。　弟子たちは、悲しみのあまり、疲れ果てて眠り込んでいます。
46 　「どうして眠っているのですか。　さあ、起きなさい。　誘惑に負けないように、祈りなさい。」
47 　こう言い終わらないうちに、十二弟子の一人ユダに先導されて、大ぜいの暴徒が押し寄せました。　ユダはイエスに駆け寄り、さも親しげに頬にくちづけのあいさつをしました。
48 　しかしイエスは、あわれむように、「ユダよ。　あなたは、くちづけでメシヤ（救い主）を裏切るのですか」と言われました。
49 　この事態の急変に取り乱した弟子たちは、「戦いましょう、先生。やつらをたたき切ってやりましょう！」と騒ぎだしました。　50 そして一人が、大祭司の家来に襲いかかり、右の耳を切り落としました。
51 　「やめなさい。　それ以上手向かってはいけません。」イエスはこう命じてから、その家来の傷口にさわって、治されました。　52 次に、暴徒どもの先頭にいた祭司長、神殿の警備隊長、ユダヤ人の指導者たちに向かって言われました。　「剣やこん棒とは。　こんなものものしい武装をしなければならないほど、わたしは凶悪犯なのですか。　53 なぜ神殿で捕らえなかったのですか。　毎日あそこにいたのに。　しかし、今はあなたがたの時、サタンが勝ち誇る時なのです。」
ペテロの大失敗
54 　人々はイエスを捕らえ、大祭司の家に引っ立てました。　遠くから、ペテロが、恐る恐るあとをつけて行きました。　55 家の中庭では、兵士たちがたき火を囲んで暖まっています。　ペテロもその中にまぎれて座り込んでいました。
56 　そのうち、一人の女中が火のあかりでペテロに気づき、「この人、イエスといっしょだったわ！」と叫びました。
57 　「と、とんでもない！　そんなやつは知らんよ！」ペテロはあわてて打ち消しました。
58 　しばらくすると、ほかの男が「いいや、おまえはやつらの仲間に違いない」と言い寄りました。　「違う、違う。　絶対そんなことはない！」ペテロはまた否定しました。
59 　一時間ほどたったでしょうか。　また別の男が、「おまえは確かにイエスの弟子だ。　その証拠に、二人ともガリラヤ人じゃないか」ときめつけました。
60 　ペテロは夢中で否定しました。　「何のことだい！　さっぱりわからないぜ。」こう言うか言わないかのうちに、鶏の鳴き声が聞こえました。
61 　その瞬間、イエスはふり向き、ペテロを見つめられました。　ペテロは、はっと我に返りました。　「あすの朝、鶏が鳴くまでに三度、わたしを知らないと言うだろう」というイエスのことばを思い出したのです。　62 ペテロは外へ走り出て、激しく泣きくずれました。
63-64 さて、見張りの警備員たちは、イエスをからかい始めました。　目隠しをしては、こぶしでなぐり、「おい、今なぐったのはだれだ。　さあ当ててみろよ、預言者様やーい」とはやし立てるなど、　65 ありとあらゆる侮辱を加えました。
66 　翌朝、夜がしらじらと明けそめるころ、ユダヤの最高議会が開かれました。　祭司長をはじめ、国中の指導者たちがみな勢ぞろいしています。　そこへ、イエスは引き出されました。　67-68 尋問が始まりました。　「ほんとうに、おまえはメシヤ（救い主）か。　はっきりしろ。」
「そうだと言ったところで、信じる気はもうとうないのでしょう。釈明させるつもりも。　69 しかし、栄光のメシヤであるわたしが、全能の神の右の座につく時は、もうすぐです。」
70 　議場は騒然、尋問する声も荒立ってきました。　「なにーっ！　あくまで神の子だと言いはるつもりかっ！」
「そのとおりです。」イエスはお答えになりました。
71 　「これだけ聞けば十分だっ！　こいつの口から確かに聞いたぞ。」議員たちは叫びました。イエス、死刑の判決を受ける

Luke 22

1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.2 And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death; for they feared the people.3 And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.4 And he went away, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might deliver him unto them.5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.6 And he consented, and sought opportunity to deliver him unto them in the absence of the multitude.7 And the day of unleavened bread came, on which the passover must be sacrificed.8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat.9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we make ready?10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house whereinto he goeth.11 And ye shall say unto the master of the house, The Teacher saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?12 And he will show you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the apostles with him.15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:16 for I say unto you, I shall not eat it, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.17 And he received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:18 for I say unto you, I shall not drink from henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.20 And the cup in like manner after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, even that which is poured out for you.21 But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.22 For the Son of man indeed goeth, as it hath been determined: but woe unto that man through whom he is betrayed!23 And they began to question among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.24 And there arose also a contention among them, which of them was accounted to be greatest.25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles have lordship over them; and they that have authority over them are called Benefactors.26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.27 For which is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am in the midst of you as he that serveth.28 But ye are they that have continued with me in my temptations;29 and I appoint unto you a kingdom, even as my Father appointed unto me,30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.31 Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat:32 but I made supplication for thee, that thy faith fail not; and do thou, when once thou hast turned again, establish thy brethren.33 And he said unto him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death.34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, until thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.35 And he said unto them, When I sent you forth without purse, and wallet, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing.36 And he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.37 For I say unto you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in me, And he was reckoned with transgressors: for that which concerneth me hath fulfilment.38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.39 And he came out, and went, as his custom was, unto the mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him.40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.41 And he was parted from them about a stone’s cast; and he kneeled down and prayed,42 saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.43 And there appeared unto him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.45 And when he rose up from his prayer, he came unto the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,46 and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.47 While he yet spake, behold, a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them; and he drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?49 And when they that were about him saw what would follow, they said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?50 And a certain one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his right ear.51 But Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye them thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.52 And Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and elders, that were come against him, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves?53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched not forth your hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.54 And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed afar off.55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat in the midst of them.56 And a certain maid seeing him as he sat in the light of the fire, and looking stedfastly upon him, said, This man also was with him.57 But he denied, saying, Woman, I know him not.58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art one of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.59 And after the space of about one hour another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean.60 But Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said unto him, Before the cock crow this day thou shalt deny me thrice.62 And he went out, and wept bitterly.63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and beat him.64 And they blindfolded him, and asked him, saying, Prophesy: who is he that struck thee?65 And many other things spake they against him, reviling him.66 And as soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led him away into their council, saying,67 If thou art the Christ, tell us. But he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:68 and if I ask you, ye will not answer.69 But from henceforth shall the Son of man be seated at the right hand of the power of God.70 And they all said, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.71 And they said, What further need have we of witness? for we ourselves have heard from his own mouth.
