Luca 22

La Passione, 22-23 Giuda decide di tradire Gesù

1 La festa degli Azzimi, detta la Pasqua, si avvicinava;

2 e i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi cercavano il modo di farlo morire, poiché temevano il popolo.
3 Satana entrò in Giuda, chiamato Iscariota, che era nel numero dei dodici.4 Egli andò a conferire con i capi dei sacerdoti e i capitani tsul modo di consegnarlo nelle loro mani.5 Essi si rallegrarono e pattuirono di dargli del denaro.

6 Egli fu d'accordo e cercava l'occasione buona per consegnare loro Gesù di nascosto alla folla.

L'ultima Pasqua. La cena del Signore

7 Venne il giorno degli Azzimi, nel quale si doveva sacrificare la Pasqua.8 Gesù mandò Pietro e Giovanni, dicendo: «Andate a prepararci la cena pasquale, affinché la mangiamo».9 Essi gli chiesero: «Dove vuoi che la prepariamo?»10 Ed egli rispose loro: «Quando sarete entrati in città, vi verrà incontro un uomo che porta una brocca d'acqua; seguitelo nella casa dove egli entrerà.11 E dite al padrone di casa: "Il Maestro ti manda a dire: 'Dov'è la stanza nella quale mangerò la Pasqua con i miei discepoli?'".12 Ed egli vi mostrerà, al piano di sopra, una grande sala ammobiliata; lì apparecchiate».

13 Essi andarono e trovarono come egli aveva detto loro, e prepararono la Pasqua.
14 Quando giunse l'ora, egli si mise a tavola, e gli apostoli con lui.15 Egli disse loro: «Ho vivamente desiderato di mangiare questa Pasqua con voi, prima di soffrire;16 poiché io vi dico che non la mangerò più, finché sia compiuta nel regno di Dio».17 Poi prese un calice e, dopo aver reso grazie, disse: «Prendete questo e distribuitelo fra di voi;

18 perché io vi dico che da ora in poi non berrò più del frutto della vigna, finché sia venuto il regno di Dio».
19 Poi prese del pane e, dopo aver reso grazie, lo spezzò e lo diede loro dicendo: «Questo è il mio corpo che è dato per voi; fate questo in memoria di me».

20 Allo stesso modo, dopo aver cenato, diede loro il calice dicendo: «Questo calice è il nuovo patto nel mio sangue, che è versato per voi.

Gesù rivela che sarà tradito

21 «Del resto, ecco, la mano di colui che mi tradisce è con me sulla tavola.22 Perché il Figlio dell'uomo, certo, se ne va, come è stabilito; ma guai a quell'uomo per mezzo del quale egli è tradito!»

23 Ed essi cominciarono a domandarsi gli uni gli altri chi mai, tra di loro, sarebbe stato a fare questo.

Chi sia il più grande

24 Fra di loro nacque anche una contesa: chi di essi fosse considerato il più grande.25 Ma egli disse loro: «I re delle nazioni le signoreggiano, e quelli che le sottomettono al loro dominio sono chiamati benefattori.26 Ma per voi non deve essere così; anzi, il più grande tra di voi sia come il più piccolo, e chi governa come colui che serve.27 Perché, chi è più grande: colui che è a tavola oppure colui che serve? Non è forse colui che è a tavola? Ma io sono in mezzo a voi come colui che serve.28 Or voi siete quelli che avete perseverato con me nelle mie prove;29 e io dispongo che vi sia dato un regno, come il Padre mio ha disposto che fosse dato a me,

30 affinché mangiate e beviate alla mia tavola nel mio regno, e sediate su troni per giudicare le dodici tribù d'Israele.

Gesù predice il rinnegamento di Pietro

31 «Simone, Simone, ecco, Satana ha chiesto di vagliarvi come si vaglia il grano,32 ma io ho pregato per te, affinché la tua fede non venga meno; e tu, quando sarai convertito, fortifica i tuoi fratelli t».33 Ma lui gli disse: «Signore, sono pronto ad andare con te in prigione e alla morte».

34 E Gesù: «Pietro, io ti dico che oggi il gallo non canterà, prima che tu abbia negato tre volte di conoscermi».
35 Poi disse loro: «Quando vi mandai senza borsa, senza sacca da viaggio e senza calzari, vi è forse mancato qualcosa?» Essi risposero: «Niente». Ed egli disse loro:36 «Ma ora, chi ha una borsa la prenda, così pure una sacca; e chi non ha spada, venda il mantello e ne compri una.37 Perché io vi dico che in me deve essere adempiuto ciò che è scritto:"Egli è stato contato tra i malfattori" t.Infatti, le cose che si riferiscono a me stanno per compiersi».

38 Ed essi dissero: «Signore, ecco qui due spade!» Ma egli disse loro: «Basta!»

Agonia di Gesù nel giardino del Getsemani

39 Poi, uscito, andò come al solito al monte degli Ulivi; e anche i discepoli lo seguirono.
40 Giunto sul luogo, disse loro: «Pregate di non entrare in tentazione».41 Egli si staccò da loro circa un tiro di sasso e, postosi in ginocchio, pregava, dicendo:

42 «Padre, se vuoi, allontana da me questo calice! Però non la mia volontà, ma la tua sia fatta».
43 {Allora gli apparve un angelo dal cielo per rafforzarlo.44 Ed essendo in agonia, egli pregava ancor più intensamente; e il suo sudore diventò come grosse gocce di sangue che cadevano in terra.}45 E, dopo aver pregato, si alzò, andò dai discepoli e li trovò addormentati per la tristezza,

46 e disse loro: «Perché dormite? Alzatevi e pregate, affinché non entriate in tentazione».

Tradimento di Giuda

47 Mentre parlava ancora, ecco una folla; e colui che si chiamava Giuda, uno dei dodici, la precedeva e si avvicinò a Gesù per baciarlo.

48 Ma Gesù gli disse: «Giuda, tradisci il Figlio dell'uomo con un bacio?»
49 Quelli che erano con lui, vedendo ciò che stava per succedere, dissero: «Signore, dobbiamo colpire con la spada?»50 E uno di loro percosse il servo del sommo sacerdote e gli recise l'orecchio destro.

51 Ma Gesù intervenne e disse: «Lasciate, basta!» E, toccato l'orecchio di quell'uomo, lo guarì.
52 Gesù disse ai capi dei sacerdoti, ai capitani del tempio e agli anziani che erano venuti contro di lui: «Siete usciti con spade e bastoni, come contro un brigante!

53 Mentre ero ogni giorno con voi nel tempio, non mi avete mai messo le mani addosso; ma questa è l'ora vostra e la potestà delle tenebre».

Arresto di Gesù; il Signore rinnegato tre volte da Pietro

54 Dopo averlo arrestato, lo portarono via e lo condussero nella casa del sommo sacerdote; e Pietro seguiva da lontano.
55 Essi accesero un fuoco in mezzo al cortile, sedendovi intorno. Pietro si sedette in mezzo a loro.56 Una serva, vedendolo seduto presso il fuoco, lo guardò fisso e disse: «Anche costui era con lui».57 Ma egli negò, dicendo: «Donna, non lo conosco».58 E poco dopo, un altro lo vide e disse: «Anche tu sei di quelli». Ma Pietro rispose: «No, uomo, non lo sono».59 Trascorsa circa un'ora, un altro insisteva, dicendo: «Certo, anche questi era con lui, poiché è Galileo».60 Ma Pietro disse: «Uomo, io non so quello che dici». E subito, mentre parlava ancora, un gallo cantò.61 E il Signore, voltatosi, guardò Pietro; e Pietro si ricordò della parola che il Signore gli aveva detta: «Oggi, prima che il gallo canti, tu mi rinnegherai tre volte».

62 E, andato fuori, pianse amaramente.

Gesù flagellato e percosso

63 Gli uomini che tenevano Gesù lo schernivano percuotendolo;64 poi lo bendarono e gli domandavano: «Indovina! Chi ti ha percosso?»

65 E dicevano molte altre cose contro di lui, bestemmiando.
66 Appena fu giorno, gli anziani del popolo, i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi si riunirono e lo condussero nel loro sinedrio t, dicendo:67 «Se tu sei il Cristo, diccelo». Ma egli disse loro: «Anche se ve lo dicessi, non credereste;68 e se io vi facessi delle domande, non rispondereste.69 Ma da ora in avanti il Figlio dell'uomo sarà seduto alla destra della potenza di Dio t».70 E tutti dissero: «Sei tu, dunque, il Figlio di Dio?» Ed egli rispose loro: «Voi lo dite t; io sono t».

71 E quelli dissero: «Che bisogno abbiamo ancora di testimonianza? Lo abbiamo udito noi stessi dalla sua bocca».

LUKE 22

A Plot To Kill Jesus

(Matthew 26.1-5,14,16; Mark 14.1,2,10,11; John 11.45-53)

1  t The Festival of Thin Bread, also called Passover, was near. 2 The chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus, because they were afraid of what the people might do.

3 Then Satan entered the heart of Judas Iscariot, t who was one of the twelve apostles.
4 Judas went to talk with the chief priests and the officers of the temple police about how he could help them arrest Jesus. 5 They were very pleased and offered to pay Judas some money.

6 He agreed and started looking for a good chance to betray Jesus when the crowds were not around.

Jesus Eats with His Disciples

(Matthew 26.17-25; Mark 14.12-21; John 13.21-30)

8 So Jesus said to Peter and John, “Go and prepare the Passover meal for us to eat.”

9 But they asked, “Where do you want us to prepare it?”
10 Jesus told them, “As you go into the city, you will meet a man carrying a jar of water.t Follow him into the house 11 and say to the owner, ‘Our teacher wants to know where he can eat the Passover meal with his disciples.’

12 The owner will take you upstairs and show you a large room ready for you to use. Prepare the meal there.”

13 Peter and John left. They found everything just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover meal.

The Lord's Supper

(Matthew 26.26-30; Mark 14.22-26; 1 Corinthians 11.23-25)

16 I tell you I will not eat another Passover meal until it is finally eaten in God's kingdom.”
17 Jesus took a cup of wine in his hands and gave thanks to God. Then he told the apostles, “Take this wine and share it with each other.

18 I tell you that I will not drink any more wine until God's kingdom comes.”

19 Jesus took some bread in his hands and gave thanks for it. He broke the bread and handed it to his apostles. Then he said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Eat this as a way of remembering me!”
20  t After the meal he took another cup of wine in his hands. Then he said, “This is my blood. It is poured out for you, and with it God makes his new agreement. 21 t The one who will betray me is here at the table with me!

22 The Son of Man will die in the way that has been decided for him, but it will be terrible for the one who betrays him!”

23 Then the apostles started arguing about who would ever do such a thing.

An Argument about Greatness

25 t So Jesus told them:
Foreign kings order their people around, and powerful rulers call themselves everyone's friends.t 26 t But don't be like them. The most important one of you should be like the least important, and your leader should be like a servant.

27 t Who do people think is the greatest, a person who is served or one who serves? Isn't it the one who is served? But I have been with you as a servant.
28 You have stayed with me in all my troubles. 29 So I will give you the right to rule as kings, just as my Father has given me the right to rule as a king.

30 t You will eat and drink with me in my kingdom, and you will each sit on a throne to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus' Disciples //Will Be Tested

(Matthew 26.31-35; Mark 14.27-31; John 13.36-38)

32 But Simon, I have prayed that your faith will be strong. And when you have come back to me, help the others.”

33 Peter said, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to jail and even to die with you.”

34 Jesus replied, “Peter, I tell you that before a rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will say three times that you don't know me.”

Moneybags, Traveling Bags, //and Swords

35  t Jesus asked his disciples, “When I sent you out without a moneybag or a traveling bag or sandals, did you need anything?”
“No!” they answered.
36 Jesus told them, “But now, if you have a moneybag, take it with you. Also take a traveling bag, and if you don't have a sword, t sell some of your clothes and buy one.

37 t Do this because the Scriptures say, ‘He was considered a criminal.’ This was written about me, and it will soon come true.”

38 The disciples said, “Lord, here are two swords!”
“Enough of that!” Jesus replied.

Jesus Prays

(Matthew 26.36-46; Mark 14.32-42)

40 When they got there, he told them, “Pray that you won't be tested.”
41 Jesus walked on a little way before he knelt down and prayed,

42 “Father, if you will, please don't make me suffer by drinking from this cup.t But do what you want, and not what I want.”
43 Then an angel from heaven came to help him.

44 Jesus was in great pain and prayed so sincerely that his sweat fell to the ground like drops of blood.t
45 Jesus got up from praying and went over to his disciples. They were asleep and worn out from being so sad.

46 He said to them, “Why are you asleep? Wake up and pray that you won't be tested.”

Jesus Is Arrested

(Matthew 26.47-56; Mark 14.43-50; John 18.3-11)

47 While Jesus was still speaking, a crowd came up. It was led by Judas, one of the twelve apostles. He went over to Jesus and greeted him with a kiss.t

48 Jesus asked Judas, “Are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49 When Jesus' disciples saw what was about to happen, they asked, “Lord, should we attack them with a sword?”

50 One of the disciples even struck at the high priest's servant with his sword and cut off the servant's right ear.

51 “Enough of that!” Jesus said. Then he touched the servant's ear and healed it.
52 Jesus spoke to the chief priests, the temple police, and the leaders who had come to arrest him. He said, “Why do you come out with swords and clubs and treat me like a criminal?

53 t I was with you every day in the temple, and you didn't arrest me. But this is your time, and darknesst is in control.”

Peter Says //He Doesn't Know Jesus

(Matthew 26.57,58,67-75; Mark 14.53,54,66-72; John 18.12-18,25-27)

56 and a servant girl saw him. Then after she had looked at him carefully, she said, “This man was with Jesus!”

57 Peter said, “Woman, I don't even know that man!”

58 A little later someone else saw Peter and said, “You are one of them!”
“No, I'm not!” Peter replied.

59 About an hour later another man insisted, “This man must have been with Jesus. They both come from Galilee.”

60 Peter replied, “I don't know what you are talking about!” Right then, while Peter was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
61 The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered that the Lord had said, “Before a rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will say three times that you don't know me.”

62 Then Peter went out and cried bitterly.
63 The men who were guarding Jesus made fun of him and beat him. 64 They put a blindfold on him and said, “Tell us who struck you!”

65 They kept on insulting Jesus in many other ways.

Jesus Is Questioned //by the Council

(Matthew 26.59-66; Mark 14.55-64; John 18.19-24)

67 They said, “Tell us! Are you the Messiah?”
Jesus replied, “If I said so, you wouldn't believe me. 68 And if I asked you a question, you wouldn't answer.

69 But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right side of God All-Powerful.”

70 Then they asked, “Are you the Son of God?”t
Jesus answered, “You say I am!”t
71 They replied, “Why do we need more witnesses? He said it himself!”
