Lucas 22

Planean matar a Jesús

1 Se acercaba ya la fiesta de los Panes sin Levadurat, conocida como la Pascuat.

2 Los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la ley estaban buscando cómo matar a Jesús porque le tenían miedo al pueblo.

La traición de Judas

3 Entonces Satanás entró en Judas Iscariote, uno de los doce apóstoles.4 Judas fue y habló con los jefes de los sacerdotes y los capitanes de la guardia del templot sobre cómo podía entregarles a Jesús.5 Ellos se alegraron y le prometieron dinero a cambio.

6 Judas se comprometió y entonces empezó a buscar la oportunidad en que no hubiera gente cerca para poder entregarlo.

Preparación de la cena de la Pascua

7 Llegó el día de la fiesta de los Panes sin Levadurat, cuando se sacrificaba al cordero para la Pascuat.

8 Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciéndoles:
—Vayan y preparen la cena de la Pascua para que podamos cenar.

9 Ellos le dijeron a Jesús:
—¿En dónde quieres que la preparemos?

10 Él les dijo:
—Cuando entren a la ciudad encontrarán a un hombre llevando un cántaro de agua. Síganlo a la casa donde entre11 y díganle al dueño: "El Maestro pregunta: ¿Dónde está el cuarto donde voy a comer la Pascua con mis seguidores?"

12 Entonces el dueño les mostrará un cuarto grande en el piso de arriba, ya arreglado. Preparen la cena allí.

13 Entonces Pedro y Juan se fueron para allá y encontraron todo tal como Jesús les había dicho y prepararon la cena de la Pascua.

La Cena del Señor

14 Cuando llegó la hora de la cena, Jesús y los apóstoles estaban a la mesa.

15 Jesús les dijo:
—Tenía muchas ganas de celebrar esta cena de Pascuat con ustedes, antes de padecer.

16 Pues yo les digo que no volveré a celebrar otra cena de Pascua, hasta que se le dé el verdadero significado en el reino de Diost.

17 Entonces Jesús tomó una copa, dio gracias a Dios y dijo:
—Tomen esta copa y compártanla todos.

18 Les digo que no volveré a beber vino hasta que el reino de Dios esté aquí.

19 Entonces Jesús tomó pan, dio gracias a Dios, lo partió, se lo dio a los apóstoles y dijo:
—Este pan es mi cuerpo que doy por ustedes. Cómanlo como recordatorio.

20 De la misma manera, después de la cena tomó la copa y dijo:
—Esta copa es mi sangre que es derramada por ustedes y establece el nuevo pactot.t21 Pero escuchen, uno de ustedes se volverá en contra mía. Su mano está al lado de la mía en la mesa.

22 Es cierto que el Hijo del hombret cumplirá lo que Dios planeó, pero ¡pobre de aquel que lo traiciona!

23 Entonces se empezaron a preguntar entre ellos: «¿Quién de nosotros haría eso?»

Sean como un siervo

24 Más tarde, los apóstoles empezaron a discutir acerca de quién era el más importante entre ellos.25 Pero Jesús les dijo: «Los reyes de las naciones ejercen dominio sobre su pueblo y los hombres que tienen mucha autoridad sobre otros hacen que los llamen "grandes benefactores del pueblo",26 pero ustedes no sean como ellos. El mayor debe hacerse como el menor, y el que manda debe hacerse como el que sirve.

27 ¿Quién es más importante: el que está a la mesa comiendo o el que le está sirviendo? Ustedes piensan que el que está a la mesa es el más importante, pero yo soy como un siervo entre ustedes.
28 »Ustedes son los que han estado conmigo durante todos mis tiempos difíciles.29 Mi padre me dio un reino y yo les doy también la autoridad para reinar conmigo,

30 para que ustedes coman y beban a la mesa en ese reino, y se sienten en tronos a juzgar a las doce tribus de Israelt.

Se anuncia la negación de Pedro

31 »¡Simón, Simón! Mira que Satanás ha pedido sacudirlos a ustedes como un campesino sacude la paja de los granos de trigo.

32 Pero he orado para que no pierdas tu fe. Cuando vuelvas a mí, ayuda a tus hermanos a ser más fuertes».

33 Pero Simón dijo:
—Señor, estoy listo para ir contigo a la cárcel. ¡Hasta estoy dispuesto a morir por ti!

34 Pero Jesús dijo:
—Pedro, antes de que el gallo cante esta noche, me negarás tres veces.

Estén listos

35 Entonces Jesús les dijo a los seguidores:
—Cuando los envié sin dinero ni provisiones ni sandalias, ¿les hizo falta algo?
Ellos dijeron:
—No, nada.

36 Jesús les dijo:
—Pero ahora, si tienen provisiones o dinero, llévenlos con ustedes. Si no tienen espada, vendan su manto y compren una.

37 Pues les digo que esta Escriturat debe cumplirse en mí: La gente lo consideraba un criminal.t Esta Escritura debe cumplirse en mí. Fue escrita sobre mí y está sucediendo ahora.

38 Los seguidores dijeron:
—Mira Señor, aquí hay dos espadas.
Jesús les dijo:
—¡Basta ya!

Jesús ora solo

39 Como de costumbre, Jesús salió de la ciudad al monte de los Olivost, y sus seguidores fueron con él.

40 Al llegar ahí, les dijo:
—Oren para que no caigan en tentación.
41 Entonces Jesús se alejó un poco de ellos, se arrodilló y oró:42 «Padre, líbrame de esta copa, pero que no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya».43 Entonces apareció un ángel del cielo que fue enviado para darle fuerzas.44 Él estaba sufriendo mucho y oraba con fervor. El sudor era como gotas de sangre que caían al suelo.t45 Cuando Jesús terminó de orar fue a donde estaban sus seguidores. Se quedaron dormidos vencidos de tristeza.

46 Jesús les dijo:
—¿Por qué están durmiendo? ¡Levántense y oren para que no caigan en tentación!

Arresto de Jesús

47 Mientras Jesús estaba hablando, llegó allí mucha gente. Los guiaba uno de los doce apóstoles, llamado Judas. Él se acercó a Jesús para saludarlo con un beso.

48 Pero Jesús le dijo:
—Judas, ¿Con un beso traicionas al Hijo del hombret?

49 Cuando los seguidores vieron lo que estaba pasando, le dijeron a Jesús:
—Señor, ¿atacamos con espada?
50 Uno de ellos le pegó al siervo del sumo sacerdotet y le cortó la oreja derecha.

51 Pero Jesús dijo:
—¡Déjenlos!
Entonces Jesús le tocó la oreja al siervo y lo sanó.

52 Luego, Jesús les dijo a los jefes de los sacerdotes, a los jefes de la guardia del templot y a los ancianos líderes, que habían venido a arrestarlo:
—¿Es que yo soy un bandido para que ustedes vengan con espadas y garrotes?

53 Yo he estado con ustedes todos los días en el área del templo y no me arrestaron. Pero esta es su hora, la hora en que reina la oscuridad.

La negación de Pedro

54 Arrestaron a Jesús y lo llevaron a casa del sumo sacerdotet. Pedro los siguió a cierta distancia.55 Encendieron un fuego en medio del patio y se sentaron alrededor. Pedro se sentó con ellos.

56 Una sierva vio a Pedro sentado allí. Lo pudo ver por la luz del fuego, lo miró muy de cerca y dijo:
—Este hombre también estaba con él.

57 Pero Pedro lo negó:
—Mujer, yo no lo conozco.

58 Un poco más tarde alguien vio a Pedro y dijo:
—Tú también eres de ellos.
Pero Pedro dijo:
—¡No, hombre, no lo soy!

59 Pasó casi una hora y otro insistió:
—Es verdad, este hombre estaba con él, es de Galilea.

60 Pero Pedro dijo:
—¡Hombre, no sé de que estás hablando!
En ese momento, mientras Pedro todavía estaba hablando, cantó el gallo.61 Entonces el Señor se dio vuelta y miró a Pedro a la cara. Pedro recordó lo que el Señor le había dicho: «Antes de que el gallo cante esta noche, me negarás tres veces».

62 Entonces Pedro salió de allí y lloró amargamente.

Se burlan de Jesús

63 Los hombres que estaban vigilando a Jesús se burlaban de él y lo azotaban.

64 Le vendaron los ojos, y le decían:
—¡Demuéstranos que eres profeta, dinos quién te pegó!

65 Y le gritaban muchos otros insultos.

Jesús ante los líderes judíos

66 Cuando amaneció, los ancianos líderes del pueblo, los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la ley vinieron todos juntos. Llevaron a Jesús ante el Consejot,

67 y le preguntaron:
—Si eres el Cristot, dínoslo.
Jesús les dijo:
—Si les digo que soy el Cristo, ustedes no me creerán.68 Y si les pregunto, no me responderán.

69 Pero desde este momento el Hijo del hombret se sentará a la derecha de Dios Todopoderoso.

70 Todos dijeron:
—¿Entonces tú eres el Hijo de Dios?
Jesús les dijo:
—Sí yo soy. Ustedes mismos lo dicen.

71 Entonces dijeron:
—¿Para qué necesitamos más testigos? ¡Lo hemos escuchado de su propia boca!

Luke 22

Preparing the Passover

1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.2 The chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people.

3 And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.4 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them.5 They were glad and agreed to give him money.6 So he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him to them apart from the crowd.

7 Then came the first day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.8 And Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it."9 They said to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare it?"10 And He said to them, "When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters.11 And you shall say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"'12 And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there."13 And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.

The Lord's Supper

14 When the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.15 And He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;16 for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."17 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, "Take this and share it among yourselves;18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes."19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.21 But behold, the hand of the one betraying Me is with Mine on the table.22 For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!"23 And they began to discuss among themselves which one of them it might be who was going to do this thing.

Who Is Greatest

24 And there arose also a dispute among them as to which one of them was regarded to be greatest.25 And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who have authority over them are called 'Benefactors.'26 But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.27 For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

28 "You are those who have stood by Me in My trials;29 and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31 "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."33 But he said to Him, "Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!"34 And He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me."

35 And He said to them, "When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" They said, " No, nothing."36 And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.37 For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, 'AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS'; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment."38 They said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."

The Garden of Gethsemane

39 And He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.40 When He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."41 And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and began to pray,42 saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."43 Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.45 When He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow,46 and said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you may not enter into temptation."

Jesus Betrayed by Judas

47 While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was preceding them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him.48 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"49 When those who were around Him saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?"50 And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear.51 But Jesus answered and said, "Stop! No more of this." And He touched his ear and healed him.52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a robber?53 While I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but this hour and the power of darkness are yours."

Jesus' Arrest

54 Having arrested Him, they led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.55 After they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.56 And a servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight and looking intently at him, said, "This man was with Him too."57 But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him."58 A little later, another saw him and said, "You are one of them too!" But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"59 After about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying, "Certainly this man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too."60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.61 The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times."62 And he went out and wept bitterly.

63 Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him,64 and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?"65 And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming.

Jesus before the Sanhedrin

66 When it was day, the tCouncil of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their council chamber, saying,67 "If You are the Christ, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe;68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer.69 But from now on THE SON OF MAN WILL BE SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND of the power OF GOD."70 And they all said, "Are You the Son of God, then?" And He said to them, "Yes, I am."71 Then they said, "What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."
