EVANGELO DI S. LUCA 5

La pesca miracolosa; i primi discepoli

1 OR avvenne che, essendogli la moltitudine addosso, per udir la parola di Dio, e stando egli in piè presso del lago di Gennesarett; 2 vide due navicelle ch'erano presso della riva del lago, delle quali erano smontati i pescatori, e lavavano le lor reti.

3 Ed essendo montato in una di quelle, la quale era di Simone, lo pregò che si allargasse un poco lungi da terra. E postosi a sedere, ammaestrava le turbe d'in su la navicella.
4 E come fu restato di parlare, disse a Simone: Allargati in acqua, e calate le vostre reti per pescaret. 5 E Simone, rispondendo, gli disse: Maestro, noi ci siamo affaticati tutta la notte, e non abbiam preso nulla; ma pure, alla tua parola, io calerò la rete. 6 E fatto questo, rinchiusero gran moltitudine di pesci; e la lor rete si rompeva.

7 Ed accennarono a'~lor compagni, ch' erano nell'altra navicella, che venissero per aiutarli. Ed essi vennero, ed empierono amendue le navicelle, talchè affondavano.
8 E Simon Pietro, veduto questo, si gettò alle ginocchia di Gesù, dicendo: Signore, dipartiti da me; perciocchè io son uomo peccatoret. 9 Poichè spavento aveva occupato lui, e tutti coloro che eran con lui, per la presa de'~pesci che aveano fatta.

10 Simigliantemente ancora Giacomo, e Giovanni, figliuol di Zebedeo, ch'eran compagni di Simone.
E Gesù disse a Simone: Non temere; da ora innanzi tu sarai prenditore d'uomini vivit.

11 Ed essi, condotte le navicelle a terra, lasciarono ogni cosa, e lo seguitaronot.

Guarigione d'un lebbroso

(Mat. 8.1-4 e rif.)

14 Ed egli gli comandò di non dirlo ad alcuno; anzi va', diss'egli, mostrati al sacerdote, ed offerisci, per la tua purificazione, secondo che Mosè ha ordinato in testimonianza a loro.
15 E la fama di lui si spandeva vie più; e molte turbe si raunavano per udirlo, e per esser da lui guarite delle loro infermità.

16 Ma egli si sottraeva ne'~deserti, ed oravat.

Guarigione d'un paralitico

(Mat. 9.1-8 e rif.)

17 ED avvenne un di que'~giorni, ch'egli insegnava; e quivi sedevano de'~Farisei, e de'~dottori della legge, i quali eran venuti di tutte le castella della Galilea, e della Giudea, e di Gerusalemme; e la virtù del Signore era quivi presente, per sanarli.
18 Ed ecco certi uomini, che portavano sopra un letto un uomo paralitico, e cercavano di portarlo dentro, e di metterlo davanti a lui.

19 E non trovando onde lo potessero metter dentro, per la moltitudine, salirono sopra il tetto della casa, e lo calaron pe'~tegoli, insieme col letticello, ivi in mezzo, davanti a Gesù.

20 Ed egli, veduta la lor fede, disse a colui: Uomo, i tuoi peccati ti son rimessi.

21 E gli Scribi e i Farisei presero a ragionare, dicendo: Chi è costui che pronunzia bestemmie? chi può rimettere i peccati, se non Iddio solot?
22 Ma Gesù, riconosciuti i lor ragionamenti, fece lor motto, e disse: Che ragionate voi ne'~vostri cuori? 23 Quale è più agevole, dire: I tuoi peccati ti son rimessi, ovver dire: Levati, e cammina? 24 Ora, acciocchè voi sappiate che il Figliuol dell'uomo ha autorità in terra di rimettere i peccati: Io ti dico (disse egli al paralitico): Levati, e togli il tuo letticello, e vattene a casa tua. 25 Ed egli, in quello stante, levatosi nel lor cospetto, e tolto in su le spalle ciò sopra di che giaceva, se ne andò a casa sua, glorificando Iddio.

26 E stupore occupò tutti, e glorificavano Iddio, ed eran pieni di paura, dicendo: Oggi noi abbiam vedute cose strane.

Vocazione di Levi

(Mat. 9.9-13 e rif.)

28 Ed egli, lasciato ogni cosa, si levò, e lo seguitò.
29 E Levi gli fece un gran convito in casa sua; e la moltitudine di pubblicani, e di altri, ch'eran con loro a tavola, era grande.

30 E gli Scribi e i Farisei di quel luogo mormoravano contro a'~discepoli di Gesù, dicendo: Perchè mangiate, e bevete co'~pubblicani, e co'~peccatori?
31 E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: I sani non han bisogno di medico, ma i malati.

32 Io non son venuto per chiamare i giusti, anzi i peccatori, a ravvedimento.

Del digiuno

(Mat. 9.14-17 e rif.)

35 Ma i giorni verranno, che lo sposo sarà loro tolto, ed allora in que'~giorni digiuneranno.
36 Disse loro, oltre a ciò, una similitudine: Niuno straccia un pezzo da un vestimento nuovo per metterlo sopra un vestimento vecchio; altrimenti, egli straccia quel nuovo, e la pezza tolta dal nuovo non si confà al vecchio. 37 Parimente, niuno mette vin nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti, il vin nuovo rompe gli otri, ed esso si spande, e gli otri si perdono. 38 Ma convien mettere il vin nuovo in otri nuovi, ed amendue si conserveranno. 39 Niuno ancora, avendo bevuto del vin vecchio, vuol subito del nuovo; perciocchè egli dice: Il vecchio val meglio.

Luke 5

The Call of the Disciples

1 Nowt Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,s and the crowd was pressing around hims to hear the word of God.2 Het saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.3 He got intot one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Thent Jesust sat downt and taught the crowds from the boat.4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and lowert your nets for a catch.”5 Simont answered,t “Master,t we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your wordt I will lowert the nets.”6 Whent they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets started to tear.t7 Sot they motionedt to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they were about to sink.t8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord,s for I am a sinful man!”s9 Fors Petert and all who were with him were astonisheds at the catch of fish that they had taken,10 and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s business partners.t Thent Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now ons you will be catching people.”ts

11 Sot when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followeds him.

Healing a Leper

12 Whilet Jesust was in one of the towns,t a man camet to him who was covered witht leprosy.s Whent he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the groundt and begged him,t “Lord, ift you are willing, you can make me clean.”13 Sot he stretched out his hand and toucheds him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.14 Thent he ordered the mant to tell no one,s but commanded him,t “Got and show yourself to a priest, and bring the offeringt for your cleansing, as Moses commanded,s as a testimony to them.”t15 But the news about him spread even more,s and large crowds were gathering together to hear himt and to be healed of their illnesses.

16 Yet Jesus himselft frequently withdrewt to the wildernesst and prayed.

Healing and Forgiving a Paralytic

17 Now ont one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Phariseess and teachers of the lawt sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem),ss and the power of the Lord was with hims to heal.18 Just thent some men showed up, carrying a paralyzed mant on a stretcher.t Theyt were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.t19 Butt since they foundt no way to carry him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roofs and let him down on the stretchert through the roof tilest rightt in front of Jesus.s20 Whent Jesust saw theirs faith he said, “Friend,t your sins are forgiven.”ts21 Thent the experts in the lawt and the Pharisees began to thinkt to themselves,t “Who is this mant who is uttering blasphemies?s Who can forgive sins but God alone?”22 When Jesus perceiveds their hostile thoughts,t he said to them,t “Why are you raising objectionst within yourselves?23 Which is easier,s to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?24 But so that you may knows that the Son of Mans has authority on earth to forgive sins” – he said to the paralyzed mants – “I tell you, stand up, take your stretchert and go home.”t25 Immediatelyt he stood up before them, pickedt up the stretchert he had been lying on, and went home, glorifyings God.

26 Thent astonishmentt seized them all, and they glorifiedt God. They were filled with awe,t saying, “We have seen incrediblet thingst today.”s

The Call of Levi; Eating with Sinners

27 Aftert this, Jesust went out and saw a tax collectors named Levis sitting at the tax booth.ts “Follow me,”s he said to him.

28 And he got up and followed him, leaving everythings behind.t
29 Thent Levi gave a great banquets in his house for Jesus,t and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sittingt at the table with them.30 Butt the Phariseess and their experts in the lawt complainedt to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”s31 Jesust answered them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do.s

32 I have not comes to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”s

The Superiority of the New

33 Thent they said to him, “John’sss disciples frequently fasts and pray,t and so do the disciples of the Pharisees,s but yours continue to eat and drink.”t34 Sot Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guestst fast while the bridegrooms is with them, can you?t35 But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken from them,s at that timet they will fast.”36 He also told them a parable:s “No one tears a patch from a new garment and sewst it on an old garment. If he does, he will have tornt the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.s37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.s If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.38 Instead new wine must be poured into new wineskins.ss

39 ss Nos one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”sts
