Lucas 5

Una pesca milagrosa

1 Una vez Jesús estaba a la orilla del Lago de Galilea, y la gente se amontonó alrededor de él para escuchar el mensaje de Dios.2 Jesús vio dos barcas en la playa. Estaban vacías porque los pescadores estaban lavando sus redes.

3 Una de esas barcas era de Simón Pedro. Jesús subió a ella y le pidió a Pedro que la alejara un poco de la orilla. Luego se sentó t en la barca, y desde allí comenzó a enseñar a la gente.

4 Cuando Jesús terminó de enseñarles, le dijo a Pedro:

—Lleva la barca a la parte honda del lago, y lanza las redes para pescar.

5 Pedro respondió:

—Maestro, toda la noche estuvimos trabajando muy duro y no pescamos nada. Pero, si tú lo mandas, voy a echar las redes.

6 Hicieron lo que Jesús les dijo, y fueron tantos los pescados que recogieron, que las redes estaban a punto de romperse.

7 Entonces hicieron señas a los compañeros de la otra barca, para que fueran enseguida a ayudarlos. Eran tantos los pescados que, entre todos, llenaron las dos barcas. Y las barcas estaban a punto de hundirse.

8 Al ver esto, Pedro se arrodilló delante de Jesús y le dijo:

—¡Señor, apártate de mí, porque soy un pecador !

9-10 Santiago y Juan, que eran hijos de Zebedeo, Pedro y todos los demás, estaban muy asombrados por la pesca tan abundante. Pero Jesús le dijo a Pedro:

—No tengas miedo. De hoy en adelante, en lugar de pescar peces, voy a enseñarte a ganar seguidores para mí.

11 Los pescadores llevaron las barcas a la orilla, dejaron todo lo que llevaban, y se fueron con Jesús.

Jesús sana a un hombre

12 Un día, Jesús estaba en un pueblo. De pronto llegó un hombre que estaba enfermo de lepra , se inclinó delante de Jesús hasta tocar el suelo con la frente, y le suplicó:

—Señor, yo sé que tú puedes sanarme. t t t ¿Quieres hacerlo?

13 Jesús extendió la mano, tocó al enfermo y le dijo:

—¡Sí quiero! ¡Queda sano!

De inmediato, el hombre quedó completamente sano.

14 Después, Jesús le dijo:

—No le digas a nadie lo que sucedió. Ve con el sacerdote y lleva la ofrenda que Moisés ordenó; t así los sacerdotes verán que ya no estás enfermo.

15 Jesús se hacía cada vez más famoso. Mucha gente se reunía para escuchar su mensaje, y otros venían para que él los sanara.

16 Pero Jesús siempre buscaba un lugar para estar solo y orar.

El hombre que no podía caminar

17 En cierta ocasión, Jesús estaba enseñando en una casa. Allí estaban sentados algunos fariseos y algunos maestros de la Ley . Habían venido de todos los pueblos de Galilea, de Judea, y de la ciudad de Jerusalén, para oír a Jesús.
Y como Jesús tenía el poder de Dios para sanar enfermos,18 llegaron unas personas con una camilla, en la que llevaban a un hombre que no podía caminar. Querían poner al enfermo delante de Jesús,

19 pero no podían entrar en la casa porque en la entrada había mucha gente. Entonces subieron al techo t y abrieron allí un agujero. Por ese agujero bajaron al enfermo en la camilla, hasta ponerlo en medio de la gente, delante de Jesús.

20 Cuando Jesús vio la gran confianza que aquellos hombres tenían en él, le dijo al enfermo: «¡Amigo, te perdono tus pecados !»

21 Los maestros de la Ley y los fariseos pensaron: «¿Y éste quién se cree que es? ¡Qué barbaridades dice contra Dios! ¡Sólo Dios puede perdonar pecados!»
22 Jesús se dio cuenta de lo que estaban pensando, y les preguntó: «¿Por qué piensan así?23 Díganme: ¿qué es más fácil? ¿Perdonar a este enfermo, o sanarlo?

24 Pues voy a demostrarles que yo, el Hijo del hombre , tengo autoridad aquí en la tierra para perdonar pecados.»
Entonces le dijo al hombre que no podía caminar: «Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa.»

25 En ese mismo instante, y ante la mirada de todos, el hombre se levantó, tomó la camilla y se fue a su casa alabando a Dios.

26 Todos quedaron admirados y llenos de temor, y comenzaron a alabar a Dios diciendo: «¡Qué cosas tan maravillosas hemos visto hoy!»

Jesús llama a Mateo

27 Después de esto, Jesús se fue de aquel lugar. En el camino vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, que estaba cobrando impuestos para el gobierno de Roma. Jesús le dijo: «Sígueme».

28 Mateo se levantó, dejó todo lo que tenía, y lo siguió.
29 Ese mismo día, Mateo ofreció en su casa una gran fiesta en honor de Jesús. Allí estaban comiendo muchos cobradores de impuestos y otras personas.

30 Algunos fariseos y maestros de la Ley comenzaron a hablar contra los discípulos de Jesús, y les dijeron:

—¿Por qué comen ustedes con los cobradores de impuestos y con toda esta gente mala?

31 Jesús les respondió:

—Los que necesitan del médico son los enfermos, no los que están sanos.

32 Yo vine a invitar a los pecadores para que regresen a Dios, no a los que se creen buenos.

Jesús enseña sobre el ayuno

33 Algunas personas le dijeron a Jesús:

—Los discípulos de Juan el Bautista y los seguidores de los fariseos siempre dedican tiempo para ayunar y para orar. Tus discípulos, en cambio, nunca dejan de comer y de beber.

34 Jesús les respondió:

—Los invitados a una fiesta de bodas no ayunan mientras el novio está con ellos.

35 Pero llegará el momento en que se lleven al novio, y entonces los invitados ayunarán.

36 Jesús también les puso esta comparación:

«Si un vestido viejo se rompe, nadie corta un pedazo de un vestido nuevo para remendar el viejo. Si lo hace, echa a perder el vestido nuevo. Además, el remiendo nuevo se verá feo en el vestido viejo.
37 »Tampoco se echa vino nuevo en recipientes viejos porque, cuando el vino nuevo fermente, hará que reviente el cuero viejo. Entonces se perderá el vino nuevo, y los recipientes se destruirán.

38 Por eso, hay que echar vino nuevo en recipientes de cuero nuevo.

39 »Además, si una persona prueba el vino viejo, ya no quiere beber vino nuevo, porque habrá aprendido que el viejo es mejor.»

LUKE 5

Jesus Chooses His First Disciples

(Matthew 4.18-22; Mark 1.16-20)

1  t Jesus was standing on the shore of Lake Gennesaret, t teaching the people as they crowded around him to hear God's message. 2 Near the shore he saw two boats left there by some fishermen who had gone to wash their nets.

3 Jesus got into the boat that belonged to Simon and asked him to row it out a little way from the shore. Then Jesus sat downt in the boat to teach the crowd.

4 When Jesus had finished speaking, he told Simon, “Row the boat out into the deep water and let your nets down to catch some fish.”
5  t “Master,” Simon answered, “we have worked hard all night long and have not caught a thing. But if you tell me to, I will let the nets down.” 6 t They did this and caught so many fish that their nets began ripping apart.

7 Then they signaled for their partners in the other boat to come and help them. The men came, and together they filled the two boats so full that they both began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this happen, he knelt down in front of Jesus and said, “Lord, don't come near me! I am a sinner.” 9 Peter and everyone with him were completely surprised at all the fish they had caught.

10 His partners James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were surprised too.
Jesus told Simon, “Don't be afraid! From now on you will bring in people instead of fish.”

11 The men pulled their boats up on the shore. Then they left everything and went with Jesus.

Jesus Heals a Man

(Matthew 8.1-4; Mark 1.40-45)

12 Jesus came to a town where there was a man who had leprosy.t When the man saw Jesus, he knelt down to the ground in front of Jesus and begged, “Lord, you have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to.”
13 Jesus put his hand on him and said, “I want to! Now you are well.” At once the man's leprosy disappeared.

14 t Jesus told him, “Don't tell anyone about this, but go and show yourself to the priest. Offer a gift to the priest, just as Moses commanded, and everyone will know that you have been healed.”t
15 News about Jesus kept spreading. Large crowds came to listen to him teach and to be healed of their diseases.

16 But Jesus would often go to some place where he could be alone and pray.

Jesus Heals a Man //Who Could Not Walk

(Matthew 9.1-8; Mark 2.1-12)

17 One day some Pharisees and experts in the Law of Moses sat listening to Jesus teach. They had come from every village in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem.
God had given Jesus the power to heal the sick, 18 and some people came carrying a man on a mat because he could not walk. They tried to take him inside the house and put him in front of Jesus.

19 But because of the crowd, they could not get him to Jesus. So they went up on the roof, t where they removed some tiles and let the mat down in the middle of the room.

20 When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the man, “My friend, your sins are forgiven.”

21 The Pharisees and the experts began arguing, “Jesus must think he is God! Only God can forgive sins.”
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he said, “Why are you thinking this? 23 Is it easier for me to tell this man that his sins are forgiven or to tell him to get up and walk?

24 But now you will see that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth.” Jesus then said to the man, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk home.”
25 At once the man stood up in front of everyone. He picked up his mat and went home, giving thanks to God.

26 Everyone was amazed and praised God. What they saw surprised them, and they said, “We have seen a great miracle today!”

Jesus Chooses Levi

(Matthew 9.9-13; Mark 2.13-17)

28 Levi left everything and went with Jesus.

29 In his home Levi gave a big dinner for Jesus. Many tax collectors and other guests were also there.

30  t The Pharisees and some of their teachers of the Law of Moses grumbled to Jesus' disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with these tax collectors and other sinners?”
31 Jesus answered, “Healthy people don't need a doctor, but sick people do.

32 I didn't come to invite good people to turn to God. I came to invite sinners.”

33 Some people said to Jesus, “John's followers often pray and go without eating, t and so do the followers of the Pharisees. But your disciples never go without eating or drinking.”
34 Jesus told them, “The friends of a bridegroom don't go without eating while he is still with them.

35 But the time will come when he will be taken from them. Then they will go without eating.”

36 Jesus then told them these sayings:
No one uses a new piece of cloth to patch old clothes. The patch would shrink and make the hole even bigger.
37 No one pours new wine into old wineskins. The new wine would swell and burst the old skins.t Then the wine would be lost, and the skins would be ruined.

38 New wine must be put only into new wineskins.
39 No one wants new wine after drinking old wine. They say, “The old wine is better.”
