Peters fiskefangst
(Matt 4,18–22; Mark 1,16–20)
1 En gang Jesus stod ved Gennesaret-sjøen og folk trengte seg om ham for å høre Guds ord, 2 fikk han se to båter som lå ved stranden. Fiskerne var gått ut av dem og holdt på å skylle garnene.
3 Jesus steg opp i en av båtene, den som tilhørte Simon, og bad ham legge litt ut fra land. Så satte han seg og underviste folkemengden fra båten.t
4 Da han var ferdig med å tale, sa han til Simon: «Legg ut på dypet og kast noten til fangst!» t 5 «Mester,» svarte Simon, «vi har strevd hele natten og ingenting fått. Men på ditt ord vil jeg kaste noten.» 6 Så gjorde de det, og fikk så mye fisk at noten holdt på å revne. 7 De gav tegn til kameratene i den andre båten at de skulle komme og ta i med dem. Og da de kom, fylte de begge båtene, så de var nær ved å synke. 8 Da Simon Peter så det, kastet han seg ned for Jesu føtter og sa: «Gå fra meg, Herre, for jeg er en syndig mann.» 9 For han og alle som var med ham, var slått av undring over den fangsten de hadde fått. 10 Likedan var det med Sebedeus-sønnene Jakob og Johannes, som fisket sammen med Simon. Men Jesus sa til Simon: «Vær ikke redd! Fra nå av skal du fange mennesker.»
11 Så rodde de båtene i land, forlot alt og fulgte ham.tDen spedalske
(Matt 8,1–4; Mark 1,40–45)
12 En gang han var i en av byene, kom det en mann som var full av spedalskhet. Da han fikk se Jesus, kastet han seg ned med ansiktet mot jorden og bønnfalt ham: «Herre, om du vil, kan du gjøre meg ren.» 13 Jesus rakte ut hånden og rørte ved ham. «Jeg vil,» sa han, «bli ren!» Med det samme var spedalskheten borte. 14 Jesus forbød ham å si det til noen. «Gå bare og vis deg for presten,» sa han, «og bær fram det offer som Moses har påbudt for den som lar seg rense. Det skal være et vitnesbyrd for dem.» t 15 Men ryktet om ham spredte seg bare enda mer, og store flokker strømmet til for å høre ham og bli helbredet for sine sykdommer.
16 Men selv trakk han seg ofte tilbake til ensomme steder og bad der.tDen lamme

17 En dag han holdt på med å lære folket, var det noen fariseere og lovlærere til stede; de var kommet fra alle landsbyene i Galilea, fra Judea og Jerusalem. Jesus hadde Herrens kraft så han kunne helbrede. 18 Da kom det noen menn med en lam mann på en båre. De forsøkte å bære ham inn og legge ham ned foran Jesus. 19 Men da det var uråd å få ham inn på grunn av trengselen, gikk de opp på taket, tok til side noen takstein og firte ham ned på båren, midt foran Jesus. 20 Da Jesus så deres tro, sa han: «Venn, dine synder er deg tilgitt.» t 21 Men de skriftlærde og fariseerne tenkte straks: «Hva er dette for en, som spotter Gud? Hvem andre enn Gud kan tilgi synder?» t 22 Jesus visste hva de tenkte, og sa til dem: «Hva er det dere tenker? 23 Hva er lettest å si, enten: Dine synder er deg tilgitt, eller: Stå opp og gå? 24 Men for at dere skal vite at Menneskesønnen har makt på jorden til å tilgi synder» – og nå vendte han seg til den lamme – «så sier jeg deg: Stå opp, ta båren og gå hjem!» 25 Og straks reiste mannen seg for øynene på dem, tok båren han hadde ligget på, og gikk hjem med lov og takk til Gud.
26 De ble alle helt ute av seg av undring og priste Gud. De var grepet av frykt og sa: «I dag har vi sett det utrolige!»Jesus kaller Levi
(Matt 9,9–13; Mark 2,13–17)
27 Deretter gikk Jesus ut, og han fikk se en toller som hette Levi, sitte på tollboden. Jesus sa til ham: «Følg meg!»
28 Da forlot han alt og kom og fulgte ham.
29 Senere holdt Levi et stort selskap for ham hjemme hos seg, og en hel del tollere og andre satt til bords med dem. 30 Fariseerne og deres skriftlærde ble forarget og sa til disiplene: «Hvorfor spiser og drikker dere sammen med tollere og syndere?» t 31 Men Jesus svarte: «Det er ikke de friske som trenger lege, men de syke.
32 Jeg er ikke kommet for å kalle rettferdige til omvendelse, men syndere.»tSpørsmålet om faste
(Matt 9,14–17; Mark 2,18–22)
33 De sa da til ham: «Johannes’ disipler holder ofte faste og bønn, og det samme gjør fariseernes disipler; men dine disipler spiser og drikker.» 34 Jesus svarte: «Kan bryllupsgjestene faste mens brudgommen er hos dem? t 35 Men det skal komme en tid da brudgommen blir tatt fra dem, og når den tiden kommer, da skal de faste.» 36 Han fortalte dem også en lignelse: «Ingen river et stykke av et nytt klesplagg for å lappe et gammelt. For da rives jo det nye klesplagget i stykker, og lappen fra det nye passer ikke på det gamle. 37 Og ingen fyller ny vin i gamle skinnsekker. For da vil den nye vinen sprenge sekkene, vinen renner ut, og sekkene blir ødelagt. 38 Nei, ny vin må fylles i nye skinnsekker. 39 Og ingen som har drukket gammel vin, har lyst på ny; han vil si at den gamle er best.»
Luke 5
The Call of the Disciples
1 Nowt Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,s and the crowd was pressing around hims to hear the word of God.2 Het saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.3 He got intot one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Thent Jesust sat downt and taught the crowds from the boat.4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and lowert your nets for a catch.”5 Simont answered,t “Master,t we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your wordt I will lowert the nets.”6 Whent they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets started to tear.t7 Sot they motionedt to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they were about to sink.t8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord,s for I am a sinful man!”s9 Fors Petert and all who were with him were astonisheds at the catch of fish that they had taken,10 and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s business partners.t Thent Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now ons you will be catching people.”ts
11 Sot when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followeds him.
Healing a Leper
12 Whilet Jesust was in one of the towns,t a man camet to him who was covered witht leprosy.s Whent he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the groundt and begged him,t “Lord, ift you are willing, you can make me clean.”13 Sot he stretched out his hand and toucheds him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.14 Thent he ordered the mant to tell no one,s but commanded him,t “Got and show yourself to a priest, and bring the offeringt for your cleansing, as Moses commanded,s as a testimony to them.”t15 But the news about him spread even more,s and large crowds were gathering together to hear himt and to be healed of their illnesses.
16 Yet Jesus himselft frequently withdrewt to the wildernesst and prayed.
Healing and Forgiving a Paralytic
17 Now ont one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Phariseess and teachers of the lawt sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem),ss and the power of the Lord was with hims to heal.18 Just thent some men showed up, carrying a paralyzed mant on a stretcher.t Theyt were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.t19 Butt since they foundt no way to carry him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roofs and let him down on the stretchert through the roof tilest rightt in front of Jesus.s20 Whent Jesust saw theirs faith he said, “Friend,t your sins are forgiven.”ts21 Thent the experts in the lawt and the Pharisees began to thinkt to themselves,t “Who is this mant who is uttering blasphemies?s Who can forgive sins but God alone?”22 When Jesus perceiveds their hostile thoughts,t he said to them,t “Why are you raising objectionst within yourselves?23 Which is easier,s to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?24 But so that you may knows that the Son of Mans has authority on earth to forgive sins” – he said to the paralyzed mants – “I tell you, stand up, take your stretchert and go home.”t25 Immediatelyt he stood up before them, pickedt up the stretchert he had been lying on, and went home, glorifyings God.
26 Thent astonishmentt seized them all, and they glorifiedt God. They were filled with awe,t saying, “We have seen incrediblet thingst today.”s
The Call of Levi; Eating with Sinners
27 Aftert this, Jesust went out and saw a tax collectors named Levis sitting at the tax booth.ts “Follow me,”s he said to him.
28 And he got up and followed him, leaving everythings behind.t
29 Thent Levi gave a great banquets in his house for Jesus,t and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sittingt at the table with them.30 Butt the Phariseess and their experts in the lawt complainedt to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”s31 Jesust answered them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do.s
32 I have not comes to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”s
The Superiority of the New
33 Thent they said to him, “John’sss disciples frequently fasts and pray,t and so do the disciples of the Pharisees,s but yours continue to eat and drink.”t34 Sot Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guestst fast while the bridegrooms is with them, can you?t35 But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken from them,s at that timet they will fast.”36 He also told them a parable:s “No one tears a patch from a new garment and sewst it on an old garment. If he does, he will have tornt the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.s37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.s If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.38 Instead new wine must be poured into new wineskins.ss
39 ss Nos one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”sts
