LUCAS 5

La pesca abundante

(Mt 4.18-22; Mc 1.16-20)

1 En una ocasión se encontraba Jesús a orillas del lago de Genesaret,t y se sentía apretujado por la multitud que quería oir el mensaje de Dios.t 2 Vio Jesús dos barcas en la playa. Estaban vacías, porque los pescadores habían bajado de ellas a lavar sus redes.t 3 Jesús subió a una de las barcas, que era de Simón, y le pidió que la alejara un poco de la orilla. Luego se sentó en la barca y comenzó a enseñar a la gente.

4 Cuando terminó de hablar dijo a Simón:
–Lleva la barca lago adentro, y echad allí vuestras redes, para pescar.

5 Simón le contestó:
–Maestro, hemos estado trabajando toda la noche sin pescar nada; pero, puesto que tú lo mandas, echaré las redes.
6 Cuando lo hicieron, recogieron tal cantidad de peces que las redes se rompían.t 7 Entonces hicieron señas a sus compañeros de la otra barca, para que fueran a ayudarlos. Ellos fueron, y llenaron tanto las dos barcas que les faltaba poco para hundirse.

8 Al ver esto, Simón Pedro se puso de rodillas delante de Jesús y le dijo:
–¡Apártate de mí, Señor, porque soy un pecador!
9 Porque Simón y todos los demás estaban asustados por aquella gran pesca que habían hecho.

10 También lo estaban Santiagot y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que eran compañeros de Simón. Pero Jesús dijo a Simón:
–No tengas miedo. Desde ahora vas a pescar hombres.

11 Entonces llevaron las barcas a tierra, lo dejaron todo y se fueron con Jesús.

Jesús sana a un leproso

(Mt 8.1-4; Mc 1.40-45)

12 Un día estaba Jesús en un pueblo donde había un hombre enfermo de lepra. Al ver a Jesús se inclinó hasta el suelo y le rogó:
–Señor, si quieres, puedes limpiarme de mi enfermedad.

13 Jesús lo tocó con la mano, diciendo:
–Quiero. ¡Queda limpio!
Al momento se le quitó la lepra al enfermo,t

14 y Jesús le ordenó:
–No lo digas a nadie. Solamente ve, preséntate al sacerdote y lleva por tu purificación la ofrenda que ordenó Moisés,t para que todos sepan que ya estás limpio de tu enfermedad.
15 Sin embargo, la fama de Jesús se extendía cada vez más, y mucha gente se juntaba para oirle y para que sanase sus enfermedades.

16 Pero Jesús se retiraba a orar a lugares apartados.t

Jesús sana a un paralítico

(Mt 9.1-8; Mc 2.1-12)

20 Cuando Jesús vio la fe que tenían, le dijo al enfermo:
–Amigo, tus pecados quedan perdonados.

21 Entonces los maestros de la leyt y los fariseos comenzaron a pensar: “¿Quién es este, que se atreve a decir palabras ofensivas contra Dios? Tan sólo Dios puede perdonar pecados.”t

22 Pero Jesús, dándose cuenta de lo que estaban pensando, les preguntó:
–¿Por qué pensáis así? 23 ¿Qué es más fácil, decir: ‘Tus pecados quedan perdonados’ o decir: ‘Levántate y anda’?

24 Pues voy a demostraros que el Hijo del hombret tiene poder en la tierra para perdonar pecados.
Entonces dijo al paralítico:
–A ti te digo: levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa.
25 Al momento, el paralítico se levantó delante de todos, tomó la camilla en que estaba acostado y se fue a su casa alabando a Dios.

26 Todos se quedaron asombrados y alabaron a Dios, y llenos de miedo dijeron:
–Hoy hemos visto cosas maravillosas.

Jesús llama a Leví

(Mt 9.9-13; Mc 2.13-17)

27 Después de esto, Jesús salió y se fijó en uno de los que cobraban impuestos para Roma. Se llamaba Levít y estaba sentado en el lugar donde cobraba los impuestos. Jesús le dijo:
–Sígueme.

28 Entonces Leví se levantó, y dejándolo todo siguió a Jesús.
29 Más tarde, Leví hizo en su casa una gran fiesta en honor de Jesús; y muchos de los que cobraban impuestos para Roma, junto con otras personas, estaban sentados con ellos a la mesa.

30 Pero los fariseos y los maestros de la ley pertenecientes a este partido comenzaron a criticar a los discípulos de Jesús. Les decían:
–¿Por qué coméis y bebéis con los cobradores de impuestos y los pecadores?t

31 Jesús les contestó:
–Los que gozan de buena salud no necesitan médico, sino los enfermos.

32 Yo no he venido a llamar a los justos, sino a los pecadores, para que se conviertan a Dios.

La cuestión del ayuno

(Mt 9.14-17; Mc 2.18-22)

33 Le dijeron a Jesús:
–Los seguidores de Juant y los de los fariseos ayunan mucho y hacen muchas oraciones, pero tus discípulos no dejan de comer y beber.t

34 Jesús les contestó:
–¿Acaso podéis hacer que ayunen los invitados a una bodat mientras el novio está con ellos?

35 Ya llegará el momento en que se lleven al novio;t cuando llegue ese día, ayunarán.

36 También les contó esta parábola:
–Nadie corta un trozo de un vestido nuevo para arreglar un vestido viejo. De hacerlo así, echará a perder el vestido nuevo; además el trozo nuevo no quedará bien en el vestido viejo. 37 Ni tampoco se echa vino nuevo en odres viejos, porque el vino nuevo hace que los odres revienten, y tanto el vino como los odres se pierden.t 38 Por eso hay que echar el vino nuevo en odres nuevos. 39 Y nadie que beba vino añejo querrá después beber el nuevo, porque dirá que el añejo es mejor.t t

Luke 5

The Call of the Disciples

1 Nowt Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,s and the crowd was pressing around hims to hear the word of God.2 Het saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.3 He got intot one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Thent Jesust sat downt and taught the crowds from the boat.4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and lowert your nets for a catch.”5 Simont answered,t “Master,t we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your wordt I will lowert the nets.”6 Whent they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets started to tear.t7 Sot they motionedt to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they were about to sink.t8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord,s for I am a sinful man!”s9 Fors Petert and all who were with him were astonisheds at the catch of fish that they had taken,10 and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s business partners.t Thent Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now ons you will be catching people.”ts

11 Sot when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followeds him.

Healing a Leper

12 Whilet Jesust was in one of the towns,t a man camet to him who was covered witht leprosy.s Whent he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the groundt and begged him,t “Lord, ift you are willing, you can make me clean.”13 Sot he stretched out his hand and toucheds him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.14 Thent he ordered the mant to tell no one,s but commanded him,t “Got and show yourself to a priest, and bring the offeringt for your cleansing, as Moses commanded,s as a testimony to them.”t15 But the news about him spread even more,s and large crowds were gathering together to hear himt and to be healed of their illnesses.

16 Yet Jesus himselft frequently withdrewt to the wildernesst and prayed.

Healing and Forgiving a Paralytic

17 Now ont one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Phariseess and teachers of the lawt sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem),ss and the power of the Lord was with hims to heal.18 Just thent some men showed up, carrying a paralyzed mant on a stretcher.t Theyt were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.t19 Butt since they foundt no way to carry him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roofs and let him down on the stretchert through the roof tilest rightt in front of Jesus.s20 Whent Jesust saw theirs faith he said, “Friend,t your sins are forgiven.”ts21 Thent the experts in the lawt and the Pharisees began to thinkt to themselves,t “Who is this mant who is uttering blasphemies?s Who can forgive sins but God alone?”22 When Jesus perceiveds their hostile thoughts,t he said to them,t “Why are you raising objectionst within yourselves?23 Which is easier,s to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?24 But so that you may knows that the Son of Mans has authority on earth to forgive sins” – he said to the paralyzed mants – “I tell you, stand up, take your stretchert and go home.”t25 Immediatelyt he stood up before them, pickedt up the stretchert he had been lying on, and went home, glorifyings God.

26 Thent astonishmentt seized them all, and they glorifiedt God. They were filled with awe,t saying, “We have seen incrediblet thingst today.”s

The Call of Levi; Eating with Sinners

27 Aftert this, Jesust went out and saw a tax collectors named Levis sitting at the tax booth.ts “Follow me,”s he said to him.

28 And he got up and followed him, leaving everythings behind.t
29 Thent Levi gave a great banquets in his house for Jesus,t and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sittingt at the table with them.30 Butt the Phariseess and their experts in the lawt complainedt to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”s31 Jesust answered them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do.s

32 I have not comes to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”s

The Superiority of the New

33 Thent they said to him, “John’sss disciples frequently fasts and pray,t and so do the disciples of the Pharisees,s but yours continue to eat and drink.”t34 Sot Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guestst fast while the bridegrooms is with them, can you?t35 But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken from them,s at that timet they will fast.”36 He also told them a parable:s “No one tears a patch from a new garment and sewst it on an old garment. If he does, he will have tornt the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.s37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.s If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.38 Instead new wine must be poured into new wineskins.ss

39 ss Nos one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”sts
