Lukas 5

1 Es geschah aber, als die Volksmenge auf ihn andrängte, um das Wort Gottes zu hören, daß er an dem See Genezareth stand.2 Und er sah zwei Schiffe am See stehen; die Fischer aber waren aus denselben getreten und wuschen ihre Netze.3 Er aber stieg in eines der Schiffe, welches Simon gehörte, und bat ihn, ein wenig vom Lande hinauszufahren; und er setzte sich und lehrte die Volksmengen vom Schiffe aus.4 Als er aber aufhörte zu reden, sprach er zu Simon: Fahre hinaus auf die Tiefe und lasset eure Netze zu einem Fange hinab.5 Und Simon antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Meister, wir haben uns die ganze Nacht hindurch bemüht und nichts gefangen, aber auf dein Wort will ich das Netz hinablassen.6 Und als sie dies getan hatten, umschlossen sie eine große Menge Fische, und ihr Netz riß.7 Und sie winkten ihren Genossen in dem anderen Schiffe, daß sie kämen und ihnen hülfen; und sie kamen, und sie füllten beide Schiffe, so daß sie sanken.8 Als aber Simon Petrus es sah, fiel er zu den Knieen Jesu nieder und sprach: Geh von mir hinaus, denn ich bin ein sündiger Mensch, Herr.9 Denn Entsetzen hatte ihn erfaßt und alle, die bei ihm waren, über den Fang der Fische, den sie getan hatten;10 gleicherweise aber auch Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne des Zebedäus, welche Genossen von Simon waren. Und Jesus sprach zu Simon: Fürchte dich nicht; von nun an wirst du Menschen fangen.11 Und als sie die Schiffe ans Land gebracht hatten, verließen sie alles und folgten ihm nach.12 Und es geschah, als er in einer der Städte war, siehe, da war ein Mann voll Aussatz; und als er Jesum sah, fiel er auf sein Angesicht und bat ihn und sprach: Herr, wenn du willst, kannst du mich reinigen.13 Und er streckte die Hand aus, rührte ihn an und sprach: Ich will; sei gereinigt! Und alsbald wich der Aussatz von ihm.14 Und er gebot ihm, es niemand zu sagen: Sondern gehe hin und zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, wie Moses geboten hat, ihnen zum Zeugnis.15 Aber die Rede über ihn verbreitete sich um so mehr; und große Volksmengen versammelten sich, ihn zu hören und von ihren Krankheiten geheilt zu werden.16 Er aber zog sich zurück und war in den Wüsteneien und betete.17 Und es geschah an einem der Tage, daß er lehrte; und es saßen da Pharisäer und Gesetzlehrer, welche aus jedem Dorfe von Galiläa und Judäa und aus Jerusalem gekommen waren; und des Herrn Kraft war da, um sie zu heilen.18 Und siehe, Männer, welche auf einem Bett einen Menschen bringen, der gelähmt war; und sie suchten ihn hineinzubringen und vor ihn zu legen.19 Und da sie nicht fanden, auf welchem Wege sie ihn hineinbringen sollten wegen der Volksmenge, stiegen sie auf das Dach und ließen ihn durch die Ziegel hinab mit dem Bettlein in die Mitte vor Jesum.20 Und als er ihren Glauben sah, sprach er: Mensch, deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.21 Und die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer fingen an zu überlegen, indem sie sagten: Wer ist dieser, der Lästerungen redet? Wer kann Sünden vergeben, außer Gott allein?22 Als aber Jesus ihre Überlegungen erkannte, antwortete und sprach er zu ihnen: Was überleget ihr in euren Herzen?23 Was ist leichter, zu sagen: Dir sind deine Sünden vergeben, oder zu sagen: Stehe auf und wandle?24 Auf daß ihr aber wisset, daß der Sohn des Menschen Gewalt hat auf der Erde, Sünden zu vergeben... sprach er zu dem Gelähmten: Ich sage dir, stehe auf und nimm dein Bettlein auf und geh nach deinem Hause.25 Und alsbald stand er vor ihnen auf, nahm auf, worauf er gelegen hatte, und ging hin nach seinem Hause, indem er Gott verherrlichte.26 Und Staunen ergriff alle, und sie verherrlichten Gott und wurden mit Furcht erfüllt und sprachen: Wir haben heute außerordentliche Dinge gesehen.27 Und nach diesem ging er hinaus und sah einen Zöllner, mit Namen Levi, am Zollhause sitzen und sprach zu ihm: Folge mir nach.28 Und alles verlassend, stand er auf und folgte ihm nach.29 Und Levi machte ihm ein großes Mahl in seinem Hause; und daselbst war eine große Menge Zöllner und anderer, die mit ihnen zu Tische lagen.30 Und die Pharisäer und ihre Schriftgelehrten murrten gegen seine Jünger und sprachen: Warum esset und trinket ihr mit den Zöllnern und Sündern?31 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Die Gesunden bedürfen nicht eines Arztes, sondern die Kranken;32 ich bin nicht gekommen, Gerechte zu rufen, sondern Sünder zur Buße.33 Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Warum fasten die Jünger Johannes' oft und verrichten Gebete, gleicherweise auch die der Pharisäer; die deinigen aber essen und trinken?34 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ihr könnt doch nicht die Gefährten des Bräutigams fasten lassen, während der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist?35 Es werden aber Tage kommen, und wann der Bräutigam von ihnen weggenommen sein wird, dann, in jenen Tagen, werden sie fasten.36 Er sagte aber auch ein Gleichnis zu ihnen: Niemand setzt einen Flicken von einem neuen Kleide auf ein altes Kleid; sonst wird er sowohl das neue zerschneiden, als auch der Flicken von dem neuen zum alten nicht passen wird.37 Und niemand tut neuen Wein in alte Schläuche; sonst wird der neue Wein die Schläuche zerreißen, und er selbst wird verschüttet werden, und die Schläuche werden verderben;38 sondern neuen Wein tut man in neue Schläuche, und beide werden zusammen erhalten.39 Und niemand will, wenn er alten getrunken hat, alsbald neuen, denn er spricht: Der alte ist besser.

Luke 5

The Call of the Disciples

1 Nowt Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,s and the crowd was pressing around hims to hear the word of God.2 Het saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.3 He got intot one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Thent Jesust sat downt and taught the crowds from the boat.4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and lowert your nets for a catch.”5 Simont answered,t “Master,t we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your wordt I will lowert the nets.”6 Whent they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets started to tear.t7 Sot they motionedt to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they were about to sink.t8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord,s for I am a sinful man!”s9 Fors Petert and all who were with him were astonisheds at the catch of fish that they had taken,10 and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s business partners.t Thent Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now ons you will be catching people.”ts

11 Sot when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followeds him.

Healing a Leper

12 Whilet Jesust was in one of the towns,t a man camet to him who was covered witht leprosy.s Whent he saw Jesus, he bowed down with his face to the groundt and begged him,t “Lord, ift you are willing, you can make me clean.”13 Sot he stretched out his hand and toucheds him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.14 Thent he ordered the mant to tell no one,s but commanded him,t “Got and show yourself to a priest, and bring the offeringt for your cleansing, as Moses commanded,s as a testimony to them.”t15 But the news about him spread even more,s and large crowds were gathering together to hear himt and to be healed of their illnesses.

16 Yet Jesus himselft frequently withdrewt to the wildernesst and prayed.

Healing and Forgiving a Paralytic

17 Now ont one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Phariseess and teachers of the lawt sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem),ss and the power of the Lord was with hims to heal.18 Just thent some men showed up, carrying a paralyzed mant on a stretcher.t Theyt were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.t19 Butt since they foundt no way to carry him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roofs and let him down on the stretchert through the roof tilest rightt in front of Jesus.s20 Whent Jesust saw theirs faith he said, “Friend,t your sins are forgiven.”ts21 Thent the experts in the lawt and the Pharisees began to thinkt to themselves,t “Who is this mant who is uttering blasphemies?s Who can forgive sins but God alone?”22 When Jesus perceiveds their hostile thoughts,t he said to them,t “Why are you raising objectionst within yourselves?23 Which is easier,s to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?24 But so that you may knows that the Son of Mans has authority on earth to forgive sins” – he said to the paralyzed mants – “I tell you, stand up, take your stretchert and go home.”t25 Immediatelyt he stood up before them, pickedt up the stretchert he had been lying on, and went home, glorifyings God.

26 Thent astonishmentt seized them all, and they glorifiedt God. They were filled with awe,t saying, “We have seen incrediblet thingst today.”s

The Call of Levi; Eating with Sinners

27 Aftert this, Jesust went out and saw a tax collectors named Levis sitting at the tax booth.ts “Follow me,”s he said to him.

28 And he got up and followed him, leaving everythings behind.t
29 Thent Levi gave a great banquets in his house for Jesus,t and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sittingt at the table with them.30 Butt the Phariseess and their experts in the lawt complainedt to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”s31 Jesust answered them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do.s

32 I have not comes to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”s

The Superiority of the New

33 Thent they said to him, “John’sss disciples frequently fasts and pray,t and so do the disciples of the Pharisees,s but yours continue to eat and drink.”t34 Sot Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the wedding guestst fast while the bridegrooms is with them, can you?t35 But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken from them,s at that timet they will fast.”36 He also told them a parable:s “No one tears a patch from a new garment and sewst it on an old garment. If he does, he will have tornt the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.s37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.s If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.38 Instead new wine must be poured into new wineskins.ss

39 ss Nos one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”sts
